At the end of this video you said we should be and you are proud of us for coming to UA-cam to learn and for doing, in my case selling on EBay, to better ourselves. Thank you so much for saying that! I just started selling about three months ago and it’s been a lot of hard work and learning along the way but it is really starting to pay off. I thank you and countless others here on UA-cam for sharing your knowledge. Most family and friends were doubtful and quite honestly full of negativity so I do appreciate hearing a vote of confidence. Thank You!
How’s it going now? I just started and had my first sale 🥰 I love it. But I agree with everything you said! ❤
As a “retired teacher baby boomer” I am extremely excited to find your channel and learn from one who understands e-commerce in todays world. Young people with a passion, purpose and sincere concern for others give me hope for the future. Thank you for the knowledge, encouragement and for being one of those young people!
Thanks for the info. Have an eBay account for over 19 years but never sold anything just a buyer but always thought about it. Wife did it many years ago but struggled reading books etc on how to set up and sell on eBay. Now 12 years into retirement and have acquired lots of stuff I’m jumping in. Thanks to folks like you and others on UA-cam you helped smooth the transition from buyer to seller.
I was so confused about shipping when I first started reselling. I was losing so much money until I stumbled across your first video on shipping. So thank you for that very informative video. I’m now even making a few extra dollars hear and there after purchasing my labels.
Me too
Appreciate the words of encouragement just posted my first items this week and so far I have 3 sales it’s definitely exciting
Thank you! Nice closing to acknowledge and praise
newbies’ efforts to move
forward and take the leap
into reselling.
Whoa that's a lot of bubble wrap that you used.
Jake, you are the bomb!! Packaging stresses me out for some reason. More on shipping please and I appreciate you more than I can say.
Love that you use newspaper the same as I do, I also use a crosscut shedder and shred my junk mail, it makes great void fill for smaller items. I have never had one complaint.
I used to get my boxes for free too. 5 months ago I started buying them. The time and space saved is worth the cost.
I now buy boxes too. At first I'd source boxes and keep them in a spare bedroom (no garage). After running out of space I started breaking them down but I could then never find the size of box I needed! LOL! Then the costs of fill materials and bubble wrap skyrocketed. I figured I could save money in the long run by having the right sized boxes. (I sell breakables). Now I have what I need 99% of the time and don't have to dumpster dive (I'm too old for that any more!).
Part 2 please. Thank you Jake.
Does the shipping cost not change with the distance it’s going? Or the massager cost $8 to ship no matter where it goes?
@shannonlacy6117 yes, shipping costs more as the distance increases so determining flat rate shipping costs is better left to more experienced sellers.
@@cassfonnesbeck8057 so with calculated shipping I don’t have to worry about the distance?
Thank you, Jake. This was very helpful; and, YES, please do a Part 2!!!
This ^^^
You and your videos are truly a blessing. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and share your knowledge!
I'd love to see a flat rate shipping tutorial. Thanks for the great info and inspiration
I've made a few equipment purchases that have helped my business out a bunch. Rollo printer to me should be the first big ticket item you invest in. The next item I bought was a chinesium pillow machine. I make my own bubble wrap and pillows and its awsome saves money and space in my shop. I sell a lot of media so the last big purchase was a cd restoring machine but i would only buy that if you sold alot of music disks games or dvds.
I love free boxes but when i switched to buying them it saved me so much time and space in my shop it was worth it to me. If you buy them in bulk you can easily hide the cost of a box in the shipping price.
What if your shipping from Japan
Question about shipping the massager you got an offer on…don’t you need to put the weight and dimensions in when you are first listing the item so the buyer knows the shipping price?
Appreciate the kind word at the end bro
This answered a lot of my questions, thank you! I definitely want a part 2
Jacob, thank you so much for your videos. You have taught me so much and given me confidence to start this journey. I appreciate you.
This video was so helpful, and that message at end....that made my day. Thank you :) Just ordered the polybags and used your code!!
I second that! It means a lot for the confidence to continue this journey. Thank You
Yes any more information on shipping is helpful. I have been refunding shipping overages to avoid negative feedback. I’m a little confused on what the buyer actually sees as their shipping costs when they agree to purchase the item. I thought they were able to see exactly what that cost would be and therefore be upset if they got additional charges. I tried paying the additional fees at the post office but found out I can’t. Please elaborate on this more if you decide to do another shipping video. Thanks so much!
Yes. I'm so confused as well.
The buyer doesn't see the shipping you paid to send it. It can be kind to refund extra in some cases (like in combined orders -sometimes ppl ask to combine so I refund everything over cost). But if you look at the label that gets printed for ebay shipping, it shows size/weight, address, etc - but not the cost of the label.
This information was just what I needed as a newbie. You are awesome, clear, thorough and thoughtful.
Really appreciate what you do. Stuff like this helps so much.
I have watched soooooo MANY shipping videos on UA-cam over the past year or so! I have also had more than enough inventory to sell (some worth quite a few hundred). BUT, the shipping has ALWAYS held me back! I don't know if it was how you explained it or (which I feel it was this) if something FINALLY clicked, but it did!!!! I am totally ready to get started! Thank you soooo MUCH 😊
You are definitely becoming one of my favorite reseller channels
We are able to find boxes, bubble wrap and packing materials without having to pay for them. Our neighbors love that they know we will take them and recycle!
I love the videos I’m looking to start as a hobby just cause it seems like you guys are having so much fun with it. I already got a ton of stuff that has recently sold so I’m excited to get started.
Man this shipping stuff sure can be overwhelming but I am so appreciative of your videos. You’re making this all easier for us.. usually by now I’d scrap this whole eBay reselling gig because of the confusion of shipping.. but this time I’m going to stick to it and forget the “how” that usually causes me to give up. I’ll learn as I go and understand that I may make a mistake or two along the way. 😊
Thank you so much for all the information you gave. It was very helpful. Also thank you for the last message it touched my heart. I’m trying to help my family get ahead. Times are tough but we need to do something to better our family situation. I just had my first sale yesterday and i was so excited! i made all the mistakes made like a $14 dollar profit but it felt good to do it! I was so proud of myself cause i needed to know i could do it. ❤ May God bless your business and help you as well.
Thank you ... this was great information. I've been trying to learn the best shipping method for my new EBay business and was getting VERY frustrated. Your information seems doable, logical, and a great starting point that I can understand!!
Thank you for your video. Your explanation was very clear and easy to understand. I would appreciate more videos on shipping.
This is great info I have never seen any vids re this process & so informational!!
Great video! Thx for the boost! Part 2 and 3 yes! Thank you
Thank you so much for this precise and informative video!! I'm a 2 week newbie with only 4 sales so far. But you've confirmed that I will get the hang of it. It's the "shipping" that I fear most. I feel so much better about shipping after your video! Thank you, again! Wish you much success and please do keep making videos.
Thanks for your great tips Jake! As a new seller I'd love to see a Part II.
Thank you all of your information. You just made shipping so much simpler to pretty much just use USPS Ground Advantage. That made it so much easier. I also agree with not using ziplock clear bags. We have too much plastic in our world and don't need more and love the recycling of boxes. Thank you.
This was so helpful!! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom
THANK YOU so much for the walkthrough!! I really needed this help.
Part 2 please. Great content!!
Thanks, I needed that last part of your video
You are the best ! Please 🙏🏻 do the second part . I am learning so much .
Thank you
Very good information on this confusing topic!
Thank you for your channel and sharing great content!
Learned recently how to create a policy passing the shipping discount to the Buyer on Calculated Shipping. There are so many situations where tailoring policies to different items and target markets can help increase sales. The legal size flat rate envelopes are the ones that have come in handy a few times ( ordered through USPS ) but yes , poly bags for sure , i like the large 14.5 x19 for things like Jeans and Hoodies.
Thank you for this helpful video! Knowing how to save money on shipping and packing properly is as important as the items being sold. When not using USPS Priority Mail, I get free boxes from the supermarket , Target or Walmart. I go to the stores when they are stocking items. I also try to reuse clean, plastic envelopes whenever possible.
And sweet message in the end too 💙
Thank you so much! Great teacher!!
Thanks jride! Just got my second sale!!!!
this is an amazing channel im really grateful that i found it
Thank you for sharing your precious experience on e-Bay for beginners, it's very helpful!
Great video. Definitely would like a part 2 video.
Thank you for this video beginning to end. I’m struggling to start listing bcs I’ve been confused and overwhelmed with getting all the policies in place. This is super helpful and encouraging and what I needed to hear. Question- what counts as 1 day shipping? Does the pkg have to be at PO same day? As a side hustle, most of my packing and shipping will be evening with PO pickup or family taking pkgs to the PO for me.
Love your work. Thanks!
Thank you and congratulations on the 14K subs! Great channel here.
Thanks Texas lady!
As a new "seller"😁 on eBay your videos have been very helpful & informative! Thank You!
Haven't even watched yet but thank you! Hard to find good videos on this. So far do all clothing, but I have bought big jackets, boots, shoes, hats and haven't bothered listing yet just because I don't want to mess with shipping. It's one of those things I keep putting off until all my clothing is listed then I was going to get around to it. Not to be confused with procrastination... lol
I hope this helps!
Thank Jacob I love your videos ❤
So incredibly helpful! Thank you!
Great video! Thanks!
Thank you so much. This was helpful
Yes please make a part 2!!
Thank you for what your doing and the encouragement. The end of the video almost made me cry. May God keep on blessing you.
Thank you for the information. A second video would be great but I'm watching a month later. I'll check to see if there is one. Thanks again!
Yes, part 2!
This is great. Thanks so much! I noticed you did not check the International Shipping box. Do you ever ship internationally?
You do well with teaching people.
Thanks for the advice 😊 Just starting....😊
Thank you for the video 😊
Tell us more about shipping.i enjoyed what you show us so far Thanks!!
I’d love to learn more about shipping!!
Thanks. I finally started selling a couple of weeks ago and thought I was being over-cautious in adding more weight to what the scale was saying.
very helpful thank you
Great info! Please more shipping how tos!
And for the whole video
Gonna try and get my first sale and shipping done this month
I’d like a part 2 for ups shipping
Yes please part 2
Please do part two. Thanks.
Love your channel, learnt so much but I'm in England so I try to convert the differences in money and shipping!
Another helpful video👍
Thank you so much!
Content comment for the algorithm gods.
most valuable info. if you're not willing to throw it. they will.
This was so good! I made so many mistakes as a new seller 😂 I wanted to give up- my customers we fortunately kind and patient with me as I shipped in the wrong box/bag.
One thing about printing your own shipping labels and maybe you said it and I missed it. If you enter too much or little for the weight when you scan it or the post office does it will credit or debit the weight difference from your account. So yes you want to be correct but the first few packages don’t sweat it just send em!
This guy doesn't miss!
Haha I appreciate yah
Thank you.
Not bad ideas. I've been shipping health supplements for over 12 years using one of the shipping software packages and there are a dozen or more ways to cut that even further but for someone starting, these tips are golden! Nice job.
I just found one of those dual massagers at goodwill today I grabbed that thing so fast, would have never even looked at one of those had I not been watching your content 🍻
Oh definitely a part 2. This shipping information is what I have been hoping to see. So USPS calculated ground advantablge to start. I am a little fuzzy when you put the measurements and weight in. When you list it or after someone buys it? Thank you.
When you list it. And then adjust it if you need to when you ship it
Oops I just asked the same question... thank you!
@@JrideFlipssorry if you already covered this but I'm stuck on whether you weigh the item in it's intended shipping box/mailer or just the item itself when listing. Thank you, I've been waiting for you to make this updated video...but I'm still not getting the "when"...ugh
Thank you for your great videos and for the encouraging words at the end of this one. (A part 2 would be great if you haven’t made one yet,TY!)
Great video!
I just started selling last week, great informative content. Subbed
I reuse a lot of my boxes, poly mailers, etc, as long as they are still in good conditions, there is no harm in reuse.
Hey Jacob when your first started out like your first sell how did it take you to get your first actual sale just curious thanks for the great information I am just starting my Ebay journey so i appreciate all this knowledge
Thank you so much for helping still can’t figure out how to do comps I’m a little slow in that department lol
great Video , thx for sharing
Just starting out, learned tons from you, very grateful. You seem to be the sunglasses guru....I have a pair of vintage Kenneth Cole New York KC7146A, and they are nowhere to be found for comps. These are circa early 80's aviator type glasses, Google lens marks them as $200 Ray Bans, as they look identical. How would you recommend comping please???
Part 2 please.
awesome vid jride gave me too much free game in the last couple months
Thank you so much for this video! It's super helpful and now I am finally past my fear of listing! I just have one question. Why does a shipping cost appear on my listing if it's going to be calculated based on where the buyer lives? Wont they be upset if its more that what is shown? I went back and updated all my listings to this new policy but the shipping prices seem very low. That makes me nervous. I do have over estimated weights and sizes.
