The Mexican Fenders are better than ever. I've worked in a guitar store for 20 years and in my experience, the people who are overly concerned with small details are the bedroom warriors. ( nothing wrong with that) Trust your ears and your hands and forget about what people say online (including me)

I have one of these. The strings over the humbucker polepieces thing is not an issue. It sounds killer.
Ryan, you seem like such a good dude. Just saying. I actually have the Chinese Modern Player tele plus, and I very highly prefer it to my American Strat. I’ll put locking tuners on, get a graphtech nut, and swap the humbucker eventually, but I absolutely love it

You should play bass. I have played both guitar and bass all of my life and you get a much broader perspective of the interaction of to two. There is this strange relationship that happens when they are played together. Sure the bass provides chord changes for the guitar to use as a background, but is much more than that. It's like two singers singing together. Wonderful! The bass can also be a quasi music conductor. By listening to a great bass player, the bass line with the right runs and passing tones(notes) can give direction on what chord change is about to happen, guiding the rest of the musicians through the arrangement. It can provide harmony notes with the guitar or be used as a solo part of a song. Good bass players know when to play simple passages when needed, but are ready for more expressive playing to enhance the over all performance. The bass also is power! Nothing better than a well rounded bass tone to fill up a band with thunder. Love the bass! It can be like your dog, your best friend! That can be said about any and all instruments. Thanxz
What’s going on Ryan? Cool Paisley shirt😃. Concerning the string not being exactly over the pickup pole. When playing single notes, the string that’s not lined up will have a volume drop compared to the ones that are lined up. I recently had this issue on my MIM Strat. I put a neck DiMarzio 36 Anniversary PAF in the bridge position and the low E string wasn’t lined up and there was definitely a volume drop. Didn’t really noticed a difference playing power chords. I ended up putting a F-Spaced Super Distortion in the bridge.

Caalamus in this video I’m just running the shure mv88 into my iPhone with a de-reverb plugin from izotope. I need to get carpet down and build some sound traps. But I’m off to a good start for recording in a garage. I think my tool bench across from me has enough random wedges to be a good diffuser, lol.

I got one of those polar white Jazzmasters for $399 new because the shop had accidentally put a Squire Jazzmaster tag on it lmao. Its a pretty great guitar though. The pickups are pretty damn hot. Which is perfect for me but I get why people might complain about them.

You can get no name double cream pickups on ebay or reverb all day long. Alnico or ceramic, high output or low output.
String spacing over pickups doesn't matter unless outside strings are way outside of pole pieces.
Right, but dimarzio has been litigious about them in the past, especially with other major brands, maybe thats not the case anymore.
60 Cycle Hum Hey Ryan yeah IDK I feel like Im seeing them more and more lately but I was aware that Dimarzio had a copyright. You are right it is weird to see official fender pickups being double cream. Maybe a loophole or the copyright has expired. I assumed the generic double creams on ebay are asian and so not prone to same litigation. Im not sure why Fender can do it.

I love the sage green color, I also love the Tidepool color but I think that's just me considering that my dad has had a Lake Placid Blue strat and jazz bass ever since I can first remember. I personally absolutely despise the way fender does sunbursts nowadays. They're always just a drab wood color poorly faded to black. I wish they were more intense like pre-cbs clownbursts!
Anyone have thoughts on what the prices of the standard series guitars will be going forward? I think there'll be a ever so slight increase for up to 6 months, and then a solid decrease after. I'm hoping that in a year I'll be able to pick up a standard strat for 250 without looking hard or having to drive outside my small city area.

I noticed that Fender and Gretsch are big on shades of green for about the last few years. Not a big fan, but some people like them. I like white and silver for my guitars and basses. Or, if I had a chance for a custom guitar, something like pink or purple.
Rayce R. I've found they haven't been doing enough green until now. I also like pinks, purples, whites, etc. I've found Fender colour choices have been very conservative and bland over the years. I almost wish they would do runs in a bunch of different colours.
I've been loving the green wave, but I'd like to see more Metalic and Icy Blues
It's Jag-u-ar here in England, not jagwar or jagwire, great channel. What's the best guitar in your opinion that can surf for around $600 but not a strat, what would you buy? Regards Neil
Here in Britain we pronounce it ‘jag-you-are’ with the ‘you’ much less emphasised

Tom Barker this was shot with my iPhone and a shure mv88, for demos I use a pair of canon t4i’s, I also use a GoPro and various other cheap action cams when I need them. Honestly lighting is more important than the cameras.
Did you ever get a chance to play one? I've been thinking of getting one and was hoping you did a demo. I'd really like to know what you think of them.

Had a mex tele arctic white brand new. Great player, and smelled fantastic like vanilla cookies. Heard a rumor they used that in the paint ?
On the whole, I don't have much beef with the new series. The colors are just different enough, though I'd like more, and I've never had serious issue with Mexicasters. I own a few of them, and they're good to fantastic with a little simple modding. I desperately wish, though, for "Standard" style Mexican Jazzmasters and Jaguars. There are no differences between pick up configurations between all types of vanilla Telecasters and Stratocasters, why should there be with Jazzes and Jags? I'm sure the quality on these are where they need to be, and the prices don't seem to be out of hand, but I'm dying to be able to afford a Fender Jazzmaster or Jaguar with their more classic style pups, like I can with a Stratocaster or Telecaster.
Have you ever tried a fender starcaster? It looks fascinating but I’ve never seen one in person.
They are interesting, more solid feeling than a normal semi hollow guitar.

I’ve been a little underwhelmed with the colors also. I keep hoping for surf green, daphne blue, fiesta red. I even like that surf pearl color on the offsets. Fiesta red is kinda pink/orange and it really looks vintage/ classic.

HEY RYAN! try saying TREM -LOW. so tremlow. by the way the one out of those new fender guitars i like the look of the best is the jazzmaster with the white HH pickups in sunburst with black pickguard which is rare for me because i don't normally go for sunburst.

a mustang bridge on a Jaguar neck is tradition? i dont think so. Fender never used to do it. Fender should make a Mustang style bridge with the correct radius.
Guys... you can see the set screws for saddle height adjustment.. they are traditional jag or mustang saddles.
All I've heard from people who have actually picked one up seem to think they're fine. All the people I've heard whinging are repeating what they've heard, sometimes from an 'anonymous source'.
So yeah. I'm not too fussed. Kinda like the red and blue/teal colours. Might get a red Jag bass and put a white pearl guard on it and swang some new pickups in. All seems pretty reasonable stuff.

kickass stang. i got the P-90 one and i intend to make it coral pink. people will try to rip on it, but some of the most funnest things to play on (instrument or otherwise) in this world are pink. like poontang. i realized it gets you more chicks to have a pink car. its like a spell. i hope guitars work the same way.

Another in a looooooooooong line of very disappointing pseudo Jags imho. I was hoping for a Jag in the Standard - now Player line, but this is not what I had in mind. As usual, Fender absolutely WILL NOT give us all the right parts, in all the right places on any guitar they call a Jaguar, except for the top of the line American reissue.
They’ve made this one even less Jag like, with the spaghetti logo, and small script. It’s probably a fine playing, and sounding guitar, lots of people will no doubt love it, but for me at least, it’s just not capturing enough of the groove of the original Jaguar at all.
Yeh, but not everyone's got the cash for an original Fender 65' Jaguar....
