    ***!!!WATCH ON THE CAUSES OF DARK UNDERARMS PART 1 • Video & on my experience how to get rid of dark underarms over a year ago.
    ***TIP: Give your underarm pores a month to release ALUMINUM chemical to see/feel the efficacy of natural deodorant.
    Many viewers asked about which natural deodorant brand to try? Well, they are twice the price compared to aluminum deodorant, and not the best variety of formulas/scent for each skin type.
    I decided to make my own natural deodorant since I use a lot of coconut oil on a daily basis for my hair and skin care. Also, I can change up the scent with natural essential oils that have therapeutic effects too! This video shows how to make deodorant that is chemical free and you can always adjust the recipe to your preference.

    Baking soda causes a lot of women serious skin reactions. instead of cornstarch try arrowroot powder :) it's silky and feels great on your skin. In the summer I use arrowroot powder, calendula (herb powders), and bentonite clay as a body powder

    Trust me.... I get asked all the time if someone has to use everything that I have mentioned in past videos even though I said it's optional or write it out in the video. I have to make it clear on the option part hehe

    Without vitamin e or grapeseed oil would be a few months. With natural preservatives will extend the shelf storage life to six to eight months. More info in the description box I provided :)

    I went to a salon this time around to achieve blended highlights. The stylist worked his magic using medium ash blonde with golden highlights :) I basically picked the colors that were similar to Jlo's caramel/honey hair but lighter.

  • @BeautySplurge
    @BeautySplurge  12 років тому

    Oh yes it is. My fiance loves it :) The baking soda absorbs order while to starch helps with sweat. Sweat itself is virtually odorless to humans; it is the rapid multiplication of bacteria in the presence of sweat and what they do (break sweat down into acids) that eventually causes the unpleasant smell.

  • @BeautySplurge

    If you just want it for scent, coconut oil is already smells yummy. If you are looking for therapeutic effects, it's best to use essential oils since that will not evaporate quickly like citric acid juice.

    I make mine by not using baking soda it causes burning and it's not good for the skin. Use the essential oils after microwaving for their full benefits. It's better to use a double broiler.Cornstarch is great for absorbing perspiration. Good video. Thanks Lisa.

    Coconut oil can melt easily in warm climates. I live in the east coast so my deodorant stays solid at room temperature. I recommend to store it in a cool place like a cabinet, add less coconut oil to your recipe, or add a few tablespoonful of bees wax so it doesn't melt easily where you live.

  • @BeautySplurge
    @BeautySplurge  12 років тому

    Watch my part 1 how to get rid of dark underarms. Lemon juice is great but not fresh squeezed ones for your deodorant because the liquid will evaporate and not be effective. Essential oils last longer since the scent lingers for months.

    Coconut oil melts easily so store it in a cool place. If you live in a hot environment then the fridge is the best place to keep it. I keep my place at 70 degree F.

    This is my personal routine and please watch my video on how to get tie of dark.underarms to understand more on why our underarms can get dark.... there are many reasons and we all have different skin types :)

    You need a base that is a semi-solid to a solid at room temperature. If you use olive oil, then you would have a greasy running deodorant. Coconut oil absorbs quickly into the skin so you will not have potential stain with your top. You can also use, shea or cocoa butter as an alternative.

  • @BeautySplurge

    Actually, Vitamin E is a natural preservatives. The others are chemical derivative so I want to make it easier on everyone to purchase it locally and for people that want to go all natural. I have a pharmacy background and Vitamin E is used in many medicinal purpose & helps extend the storage life. If you look at organic cosmetics that are truly natural, they use tocopherol which is the scientific name of Vitamin E alpha derivative. Thanks for the input and I know all about the other options =)

  • @BeautySplurge
    @BeautySplurge  12 років тому

    Yes, you can. I personally don't use one so you do what is best for you =) I also posted more info and the method to get rid of dark underarms from waxing to using a epilator in my part 1 video.

    We release the toxin by taking a break from using aluminum deodorant. It will take a few weeks for natural sweat since we don't wear deodorant when sleeping.

  • @BeautySplurge
    @BeautySplurge  11 років тому

    If you live in a humid area, try adding more baking soda and corn starch. You can also try using beeswax to the recipe to be more of a solid.

  • @BeautySplurge
    @BeautySplurge  12 років тому

    Thanks for your input and I talked more about dark underarms in a video a year ago. I Recommend that procedure and would like to get it done myself but shaving right is fine for me. As long is the razor blade are not dull, moisturize, and gently shave in short strokes:) If you watch my old video, I talked about other methods to remove hair in the underarms to help get rid of dark underarms :)

    Well, the coconut oil can be used in many different ways - cooking, skin and hair moisturizer and more. The baking soda and corn starch can be used in the kitchen, the vitamin E oil can be used on the skin (my e-oil was a oil for the skin) and if you use an essential oil, you can later on use this in your schampoo och conditioner.
    It is day 2 (i made the deodorant yesterday) and the deodorant is still melting on my fingers and I can still feel the baking soda. I can update tomorrow :)

    I consult with patients when I worked in the pharmacy & give recommendations unless they needs more medical attention. I studied with a doctorate degree which is doctor in pharmacy & medical doctor do ask me what is the best option in medicine to treat their patients. I can treat if its over the counter, not prescribed, and give physical exams. Thanks & it looks like you have been the only person the feel offended so I apologize for that. Don't take it personal on the "improper hygiene" term.

    I tried this deodorant today, and I also have a problem with sweaty armpits. Usually when I use regular deodorant (mostly anti-persperants), and then start sweating, the deodorant will start to smell much stronger and my clothes starts to smell like sweat in the underarm-area. Today, when I used the deodorant, the sweating was the same: when I got a little bit warmer, I started to sweat, though it didn't smell anything! And it still odor-free! So that's a plus!

  • @BeautySplurge
    @BeautySplurge  12 років тому

    Yes, I used lime essential oil.

  • @BeautySplurge
    @BeautySplurge  12 років тому

    The coconut oil turns into a paste and from my video swatches, there were in greasy residue because starch and baking soda absorbs majority of the oil.

  • @BeautySplurge

    You would think so but my recipe let the butter melt into the skin and the baking sode with starch helps absorbs the oil =)

    Ok so, today I used the deodorant for the first time!
    The texture is still melting on my fingers and is grainy from the baking soda, but this morning I decided to try it out anyways.
    I've been to school today and I tend to sweat easily under my armpits and on my back. The sweating didn't stop, but, the sweat didn't turn into any stinky odor like it usually does with regular deodorant! I'm actually surprised. Though my mixture is not as solid as Lisas in the video, but I'm quite happy with it!

    Vitamin E is NOT a Preservative. It is an antioxidant that helps the oils from spoiling. There are many options for preservatives: Optiphen, Liquid Germall Plus, Germall Plus, etc...check out the soap sites you order from, I am sure they have a preservative there. :) Hope this helps!

    My motto is to treat your underarms like you face. Don't you wash your face at night if you wore makeup that day? It's good to release sweat because our body wants to get rid of it so just moisturize at night before bed to hydrate your skin :)

    This DIY deodorant is AMAZING! I made it yesterday afternoon and use it that afternoon and had it on the entire day today. I have one thing to say... It works! Well that was two lol. I was quite sweaty and especially after running 2 blocks for the bus! I smelled nothing! Dare I say I had my bf take a whiff and he was amazed! I made a smaller portion because I was afraid it'll fail on me but I was wrong :). I used essential oils lemon (5 drops) and rosemary (2 drops). I made a 1/3 cup batch.

    It's summer here and the top of the deodorant has melted it's been over 12 hours since I made it, going to try again, but this time use something that melts and solidifies like coconut oil but is tougher to melt like coco butter, Shea butter maybe even bee wax. Probably a blend of them all even a dab of coconut. I've used these combos to make a lip balm add corn starch and baking soda makes it a deodorant!
