Thank you thank you thank you!! I’ve been trying to parry him for so long and watched other vids and I thought I was parring at the right time but nothing worked. But your tip to hold up your shield first with L1 before hitting L2 worked like a charm! 😊
I don't know the mechanics... but just FYI out there... it's not necessarily an instant kill, at least on new game with most blessings. It's a lot less hassle/risk to parry kill them (or just run past them without bothering with stealth) if they don't instant kill you. You can just double heal and keep going or try another parry. Equip the anti-madness talismans so it doesn't proc madness during the main attack but is then out of sync and just procs while in their presence. And max life talisman. This gives you like 4-5 tries to get the parry before being sent back. Most of these are right by a stake so it's not a huuuge deal, but I think it's much easier to learn the parry timing if you don't have 30-60 seconds or whatever between attempts. You just back up, double "estus" and try again.
I couldn't, until I took off my armor and lost my fear of them, I was left naked, with only the shield and a spear, I killed everyone, the one that came out in the fog I killed the first time, two parrys to kill each one
You are a savior, Make sure you utilize that parry the moment they start their wand animation, using the buckler shield parry for this makes this a perfectly timed parry.
I happen to be to close, that's when they just swing their stick but don't do the charge. The charge is much easier to parry as their weapon is basically in front of you. If you are too close, they do the swing, which is hard to time.
I’ve been trying to do this for like an hour to take out just one and I cannot get the party timing, just swear the guy in my game is hitting faster then in this video?? What am I missing
I just avoided killing them. What they drop can be gotten from other enemies in the library... Equip the talisman that removes all sound, stealth using the tall grass. And use the bells to distract them too if you want.
FYI: I reccomend NOT using a medium shield or a weapon (except for a dagger) to parry these enemies with... As Medium shields and almost every weapon parry is a 2 frame window vs something like Buckler, which has roughly 8 frames, or regular small shields which have 6 frames
Edit: also you don't... really need to fight them... As you can just use "Assassin's Gambit" AoW to just run right past them without them even noticing you even at fairly close range... it's seriously op if you just dont wannt fight stuff...
I died a lot before a figured out the timing. Push your parry button (I’m on PS5 so L2 for me) when those mfs begin their animation, don’t wait for the last minute. As soon as they raise their stick push L2. To be honest the parry timing is way off.

There is one in the fog
There are 2 in the same area near a statue of Marika
