It didn't help when I read a message right after the boss room saying "horse required ahead"
I looked to the side for a moment and heard the sound you would hear with Torrent's first health bar dropping. I turned back thinking I ran into an enemy. I tried resummoning Torrent, only to be greeted with "Your Spectral Steed is *afraid*" I practically felt my heart dropped like Torrent is normally brave. WHAT HAS MADE TORRENT AFRAID FROM HERE?!
the amount of instantaneous fear I felt when I did a fully charged serpent hunter heavy attack and nothing happened is indescribable.

No you actually discovered it correctly, this is how you beat them. I learned this because i got a note randomly from the forest hinting that you need to parry them in order to touch them. The note is called “Torn Diary Page”
HOLY 🤬 you're right! Because the guy in the note says that he "brushed the staff away and then he was able to touch the priest" how did I not think of that!? that's such a great way to drop a hint this is why I love fromsoft games bro!

These guys are basically Winter Lanterns from Bloodborne, but even more annoying because they’re harder to escape ☠️☠️☠️

I ended up just using unseen form and the silent movement trinket and walking around them. The key thing to be aware of is that you can’t sneak through the tall grass because there are orange cat tail plants in the tall grass patches that instantaneously alert them.
I noticed that if you don’t touch the tail grass, you’re good.🎉
Made it to the manse 1st try with this. Lifesaver 🙌
I made it through using the tall grass. Just go around the yellow death plants, it's not that hard and they wouldn't make an area so gate kept that you would have to have the stats for the spell and a trinket you may not have obtained.
What I did was touch the tail grass to lure them over to a location then book it towards the next grace
None of that is necessary, literally can run passed them if thats your route.
One parry and you can damage them as normal
You don't need any magic additions to hide through the grass
Btw those who don’t know: carian retaliation (the magic parry) has more parry frames than the standard buckler and will make this easier.
Was looking for my magic option, since I dont use a damned shield
@@DadsOP They mean Carian Retaliation the skill, the one you put on shields lol. The spell version doesn't have parry frames.
I thought Golden Parry has the biggest window?
@@Italian_Sal I think they both have extended parry frames but golden parry also has more range. I’ve heard carian retaliation still has more than golden parry but I could be wrong.

If you don’t want to deal with them you can also throw assassins gambit on a dagger. As long as you don’t stand directly on them you can just sprint past.
I got the talisman, but I did not stop there. Hate those things, I killed them all on the map
Is there a total of 10 of them, a friend and I are theorizing the bodies in front of the mansion show how many there are, but we can only seem to find 7 so far

@@ethanortiz9339 carian retaliation and gold parry (the golden order ash of war parry I dont remember the name) have bigger parry windows. And you want to hit the parry button just as they raise there cane/finger in the air. The timing is rough but that's when you hit it
I survived multiple grabs, facetanking the madness up to 3 times😂: 80 vigor, 28 mind, rift shield, clarifying horn charm +1, envoy crown, azur robe, prelate arm&leg
With Carian retaliation parry, parry as soon as you see it lift it's staff.

If you’re not that good parrying, just put Thorps barrier ash of war on any small shield and the window time of the parrying increases.
I kept dying to this guy trying to parry and then I played back ur video in slo-motion to see exactly when do you parry and you did it exactly when he brings his shining wand upward in the air. I got it first try after that
The first time i saw these things was when i was on top of a cliff and tried to shoot at one far away, and nothing was happening, so i kept shooting at it. Then it just disappeared and appeared behind me

Ao if you use assassin's gambit every 20 sec qnd stay a decent way away from them youll never have them chase you, hope this helps someone

Use the talisman that slows down build up after inflicted with it and use madness on yourself so you have a buff against it before you fight him. Got him on my second try
btw they are called winter lanterns, since you can find an item called winter lantern flys that look like them which i think is a cool little reference to everyone's favorite bloodborne enemy

For those still trying to nail the timing.. pay attention to the sounds and especially the last sound at the end of the cast, its pretty distinctive. If you try to time the parry the moment you expect that sound to hit it works almost every time.
And here I was thinking it was a forced stealth segment lol...

I always found the buckler parry to be somewhat iffy since its weirdly delayed. If you have the same problems as I do you can put the ash of war "carian retaliation" on a midshield like the heater shield, way easier to use. Got the enemy showed here like that on the second try.

4:44 both golden parry and carrian retal start at frame 7 and last 14 frames (same for small and medium shields), buckler starts 7 lasts 11, unsure about the rest of the parries since this patch changed them, most had 9-11 frames of start up and 11-5 active frames

Having high focus armor to slow down the madness build up helped me not get one shot by him. Corhyns Robe, Greathood and all the armor of Solitude were the best focus resist pieces I had.

I ran like hell to get through this area😭 but on a real note I was pissed I couldn’t use my horse and kept getting 1 shot by them I was like I just wanna explore mfkr

Hear me out here. I was noticing something different on my controller when i purchased the dlc. Input lag to be exacted. I had to mash a simple jump 3 to 4 times just to jump same goes for flask and sometimes pulling the trigger to do a sword slash. So I tried fixing this problem in game by turning off vsyc, changing control layout etc. I couldn't figure it out so i asked discord and a guy had the same problems. He told me to switch fullscreen to borderless window. So i did and man oh man im getting much better response time on my controller. I mean the bosses are still hard but im playing better than i was before 😅.

Those 3 in game messages at the start of the woods make me want to leave and not come back
I haven’t found a way to kill those guys yet because I have found they’re invincible somehow. So, I had to sneak past them like they were obstacles.

Hated these enemies so much that I pulled an Anakin and slaughtered them all when I figured out they could be defeated. The women, and the children 😂😂😂.

Kill them all. There's a specific one near the area where the game teaches you how to use the tall grass to sneak around them that dropped it for me.
It's only the one in the video that drops the talisman the rest drop the grape thing

The funniest thing to me about this area, is that Torrent is TOO AFRAID to be summoned; you have to run everywhere 😂. Edit: I just revisted this and got it, here's what helped me with the opening teleport. Of course it will hit you but what I did was not target it at first, I turned my camera so that it faces me so that I can see behind me. Then after the teleport, I just layed there and let my character stand on their own. Because when you stand on your own, the enemy can't catch you with the instant kill move right off.

4:28 and you use a buckler or shield that can parry. now you can skip the first 4+ mins of the talking and get right to the meat and potatoes.
