All bakers need recipes that are easy to make and enjoyed by everyone. Although there are times when nothing gives me more pleasure than spending a morning in the kitchen making a layer cake with swirls of frosting, there are also times when I need something that's quick and easy to make. That is when I turn to Rice Krispies Treats® (Squares). It is the busy mother's dream; ten minutes and you are done. Just mix together rice cereal with melted marshmallows and butter (or margarine). And the best part is that both kids and adults love this candy-like square, with its sweet flavor and crispy texture.

Try cutting it with regular rice crispy cereal. Like, 1 part rice crispy cereal and 2 parts fruity pebbles.

Watching videos from 5 years ago. Can we have some things other than desserts AGAIN? Don't know your audience now but we are all here. Congrats on the new company. I subscribed. This happens to be my favorite guilty present. All my girls know my soft spot. Mom used to make it too. There are breakfast, lunch, and dinner. "just use my hands" ... The Hash brown egg and veggie cups were genius. I will probably try this (with the wife's help) for my family thanksgiving breakfast! Would love to have more ideas for Christmas or what ever. Breakfast or Brunch ideas. Cute ideas.

I have used this recipe a million times as my children were growing up. I had to tweek it a little to keep me interested in making them. I put peanut butter in with the marshmallows as I was melting it, and made a whole different taste to them. They loved both. I've even sprinkled melted chocolate over the peanut butter ones to make another different taste. All are delicious and never got a veto on any one I made. Thanks for posting Joy. Such a great teacher!

I am one of the few people in the world that didn't like these as a kid. Don't like them as an adult either because I am not a fan of marshmallows.
Like Stephanie said, check the date of the marshmallows package. My dislike of marshmallows comes from people making treats like this to use up old marshmallows. Horrible taste and texture for a "treat" or dessert. And old marshmallows very nasty in hot chocolate.
It's always a treat watching Stephanie make something even if I don't want to make it for myself.

Rice Krispie treats taste great with dried apricot bits, raisin pieces and a few nuts.
[I stopped eating margarine soon after it came out when I learned it is so close to plastic in its molecular make up! Use butter or oil. ( Processed cheese is only a few molecules away from plastic BTW). We can't kid ourselves that any of these man-made processed homogenized dairy products are in the least bit healthful.]
