Coincidentally, I have been making these weekly the past several weeks. So delicious. Sometimes I add a tablespoon of bourbon and sometimes I drizzle with melted dark chocolate. But they are wonderful as is.
@@allietabberer5519 if you do add bourbon, be sure to sprinkle more flaky salt in top. A magical combo, especially with the already magical browned butter and salt inside. I also add an extra (hefty) pinch to the heaping 1/4 teaspoon in the cereal mixture when I add bourbon.
It’s Wednesday! Yayyy!! Oh yum, can’t wait to try this method. I save the butter wrapper to press down my crispy treats into the pan. The butter leftover on the wax-paper like wrap does a perfect job without sticking!
Thanks so much for sharing this tip! My most recent method has been spraying nonstick spray onto my palm and using my hand to press them into the pan but I’m totally trying your way.
I have made these hundreds of times (no exaggeration) and they are a hit every time. Every. Single. Time. I always double it and do it in a bigger pan (or even 2 pans, if I want to make them smaller).
I’ve been making these for years; I add 1 tsp of vanilla extract to the melted marshmallows before stirring in the cereal. I’ve made them so much that your recipe is now mine 😆
My husband yelled “this is the best treat I’ve ever had!!” Thanks Deb. Your book saved our pandemic. I’m not allowed to try any “not Deb” recipes anymore 😂 Shout out to your street chicken 🙇♀️
I use brown butter in my chocolate chip cookies - never thought of using them in RK treats! Great idea. Lately I’ve been using 3 cups of RK’s AND 3 cups of crushed ripple salted potato chips! Yum & crunch!
My niece (she met you on the street/Manhattan) and I try to make every recipe of your's whenever we're together. We thank you for making food so much fun and easy. We look forward to The Smitten Kitten e-mail every week and start talking about it on wednesday's... is that obsessive? Keep up the great work, it truly is appreciated. Uncle Tommy and Megan.
I’ve made these countless times, I love when kids-who are used to the packaged ones-take a bite and are stopped in their tracks! Yes, kids, your lives have been a lie until now. 🤣
Well...what can I say? OMW, these were great. Browning the butter & adding sea salt was The Game Changer!! I made today for St. Patrick's Day and decorated. The flavor is unbeatable. I will be making these AGAIN!!
oh my goodness thought I was looking for a simple way to make these treats and I was caught up in how passionate you were about making these now I have to try thr brown butter!!
watching one video and I am HOOKED on your soothing voice and amazing recipe. Trust me I made these for a party thinking oh people aren’t gonna be that wild about them but people DEVOURED THEM !!
I made these last week and OMG-SOOOOOOOO GOOD! Then, I went on to make your brownies, corn salad and blueberry crumb bars. Your recipes are ALWAYS on point and turn out delicious!! Thanks for making me look like a rock star in the kitchen!
You Rock, so cute! I have been reading your blog for years but this is the first UA-cam video I have watched. Love it… spreading this one to all my friends and family!! 💕💕💕
Oh I've been making this from your cookbook for years and it's a favourite. So easy but it's perfect with your adjustments. So glad I have the cookbook.
After making these treats several years ago, I cannot make any others. These are the absolute best! And, I love watching you on video! Keep it up, Deb. 😊
I’ve now made these a staple treat in our house, using the seasonal Cinnamon Rice Krispies, for added flavor complexity. A favorite in our house. Thanks, Deb!!
A friend introduced me to these. I make a smaller amount using about 2 tablespoons of butter that I brown in the microwave and then add about a cup of Marshmallow Fluff. I love the extra vanillaey flavor and the gooey texture. I microwave for about 15 more seconds just to warm the fluff up. I then stir the butter and marshmallow fluff together and add a little vanilla extract and some sea salt. Toasting the rice crispies is also really delicious, but the beurre noisette is enough to make these amazing. I usually toast an entire cereal box full then put htem back in the box once they’re cool. That way I have some whenever I want to make rice crispy treats. I add enough rice crispies to make the mixture not gooey sticky and eat warm with a spoon.
I made these 20 mins ago after finding this recipe yesterday and OMG it's a keeper. Absolutely delicious! The only thing I added was a Tblsp of vanilla. Divine! Thanks for this amazing recipe!
I am so happy you are doing these videos. Thanks so much for sharing. I never realized I was not browning my butter enough until I saw your visual and explanation. Love these treats!
Omg just found this and followed it tastes so similar to how my mom made them! I haven’t had these in years and had a craving for them - the ones in store by Rice Crispies are too sweet and artificial for my liking. Thank you! ❤
Butter makes all food better, and this brown butter recipe sounds like a plan, to me. Nice to see a nice variation that isn't sweeter than usual, really nice touch w the salt, thanks for sharing :)
My husband and I was at this new little restaurant just looking at the menu so we could friday. They had Individually wrapped treats and they had these so my husband got me one I loved it. So I had to find a recipe, and I found yours. So I'm definitely going to make them.
I'm so excited about this video series!! I've been making this recipe occasionally for a couple years, but I've stopped recently because the past couple times the treats came out a little hard, not fluffy enough - watching this video made me realize I was overcooking the marshmallows and over-stirring once I added the cereal, and now that I know...these will be happening as a back-to-school treat in my house this week!
My husband used to travel a lot for work, and when I would go with him, I would buy the ingredients for these and make them in the hotel room kitchenette. He once had a student not originally from America, and she had never had krispy treats before. She ate so many of them. And asked for the recipe. Also, my sister-in-law asks for these for her birthday every year.
I have made these several times and they are really SO GOOD. I like to add some chocolate by mixing in mini m&ms, it's fun for a pop of color too. But really, it doesn't need them. However, I asked my son if he'd like these and he said yes with m&ms!
I love your youtube videos! The blueberry muffins were a big hit with my family and we also loved the zucchini galette. These brown butter krispies are my favorite!!!! They are also the very first Smitten Kitchen recipe I tried. I add a little vanilla bean paste to gild the lily and some rainbow sprinkles on top!
I haven’t tried these yet but I am so excited to make them. They look so awesome. Thank you for a great treat. The regular rice crispy treats have always been a favorite in our family but this takes it to another level~ 😊♥️
I'll have to try this with the browned butter. I use the mini marshmallows and always add another 5 oz (1/2 bag) of them when I mix the cereal into the melted marshmallows. And sprinkles for the season. My son-in-law has said he could eat the whole pan by himself.
My first and frequent return-to recipe of yours. They're brilliant. Good to see exactly how 'brown' the butter should get. On a tv presentation note: Much better. You keep your gaze on the camera and don't look away. Your 'vocal fry' has really improved. Still occasionally doing your upward inflections but that seems to be when you are really trying to communicate how good the recipe is. I'm not being rude but, I hope, helpful. I've been a tv anchor and coach for many years.
Great minds think alike! I’ve been making treats like this for years plus I usually add some butterscotch chips. Soccer snacks and college care packages!
I make these all the time! Any time I share them with adults, like when I bring them to work or a party, I always hear someone say, "These are the best rice krispie treats I've ever had!" I don't tweak the recipe - it's perfect as-is.
Deb isn’t kidding when she says they disappear at parties. They are so beloved by my friend group that I nearly always make a double batch and they still disappear quickly.
I just made these just now because of a craving...but since we are out of Rice Krispies I used fruity pebbles..,..WOWZA they taste delicious❣️💥✨✨🫶🏼 Now I'm waiting the 10 long mins till they harden😂❤❤❤❤
Deb, you are such a natural in front of the camera, personally I think you should have your own TV show! So just an FYI, it seems you made a concerted effort not to mention the name brand cereal in this video, I'm guessing for legal/trademark issues? However, at the 4:00 minute mark I think you may have slipped up. Don't want you to get snap, crackled or popped from an attorney in Michigan!
Deb, you're evil!! All of your deserts are wonderful, and seeing you make them makes me want to make them and gobble them all up. My pants are so mad at you!!
When you use browned butter (in other recipes) instead of regular butter, do you measure cup per cup? Does the loss of water or whatever make a difference in the measurements?
Nice I have young lady who’s going to make this for me I have bought the ingredients we bought puffed marshmallows I ask do you ad salt she said no that the butter has salt so I added salt in the jar of marshmallows because I like sweet and salt I can’t wait until Tuesday it’s Friday
This is one of those days when I am do happy I do not have marshmallow nor crispy cereal in the house. What I DO have not s ingredients for your quick lemon bars
Chloe here ( ignore husband's name lol) - deb did you do your nails for this video and plan the close up of the toasted milk solids to show them off? Fancy;))))
Ha! I usual do gels in a pale pink because they last a long time/hold up to being banged around while cooking and I don't find them distracting in videos. I'm super basic about nails. :)
The serving size for me when I make these is the entire pan, I don't even cut them. I just plop down in front of a show or movie and pull out a handful at a time. I convince myself that by not getting a knife dirty I'm conserving water and saving the planet.
That description of brown butter was lovely.
Coincidentally, I have been making these weekly the past several weeks. So delicious. Sometimes I add a tablespoon of bourbon and sometimes I drizzle with melted dark chocolate. But they are wonderful as is.
Oh goodness, the bourbon… I need to try that!
Does the bourbon splatter?
They need to bottle essence of Deb. The happy stuff we all need now. LOVE watching you.

I found your recipe for these years ago and now I ALWAYS make my rice krispie treats this way...they are AMAZING!
I have loved your blog for years! This recipe has been a family favorite and constant crowd pleaser! Thank you for what you do!
God those are so beautiful. I love how concise your videos are and how simple but GENIUS some of your recipes turn out to be.
Brown butter in scrambled eggs for many years now. So good! Thank you for this idea.
Thank you! I loved meeting your niece -- she brightened my day.
My friend Michelle made these with chai spice instead of salt and it was about a decade ago and I still can’t stop thinking about them
I’ve made these countless times, I love when kids-who are used to the packaged ones-take a bite and are stopped in their tracks! Yes, kids, your lives have been a lie until now. 🤣
Oh the pre made ones are gross
Well...what can I say? OMW, these were great. Browning the butter & adding sea salt was The Game Changer!! I made today for St. Patrick's Day and decorated. The flavor is unbeatable. I will be making these AGAIN!!
oh my goodness

My favorite part of the week is when you release a new video ! Happy Wednesday !
You told me to make these for a party once and they were the biggest hit! I’ve been making them regularly ever since! Thank you lifestyle guru!
I love these how to videos to your recipes!!! 🥰😋
Oh I've been making this from your cookbook for years and it's a favourite. So easy but it's perfect with your adjustments. So glad I have the cookbook.
I made these from your book when it first came out, they were delicious! Everyone keeps requesting these.
I have been making these for years and they're always a hit wherever I take them. That salt really sets them off!
I make these very similar, but I add some more marshmallows when I put the rice krispees in and I use vanilla bean paste. So good!
Brown butter is a game changer, love this recipe!!

I have been making these for years since I saw them in the first cookbook. I always add a teaspoon of vanilla 😋. They are always a hit!

I am so happy you are doing these videos. Thanks so much for sharing. I never realized I was not browning my butter enough until I saw your visual and explanation. Love these treats!
I've made this twice since this video. Second time, I added sprinkles on half of them for the kids. It's so good w the salt!! Thanks Deb!
Omg just found this and followed it tastes so similar to how my mom made them! I haven’t had these in years and had a craving for them - the ones in store by Rice Crispies are too sweet and artificial for my liking. Thank you! ❤
Love your blogs, and really love these videos! Please keep ‘em coming
Butter makes all food better, and this brown butter recipe sounds like a plan, to me. Nice to see a nice variation that isn't sweeter than usual, really nice touch w the salt, thanks for sharing :)
I've made these about 100 times now. Between this recipe and the epicurious Nutella rice krispies, I'm the official rice krispie maker in the family 😂
Love this recipe so much!
LOVE all your recipes and especially LOVE how you are doing videos now!! you are tooooo cute! :)
My husband and I was at this new little restaurant just looking at the menu so we could friday. They had Individually wrapped treats and they had these so my husband got me one I loved it. So I had to find a recipe, and I found yours. So I'm definitely going to make them.
These are my go-to for any family gathering or church pot luck!

Oh my freaking god these are so good. I just made them and they are grown-up treats - so good. Thanks for the recipe❤️❤️❤️
I’ve made these several times. Definitely takes Rice Krispie treats to another level
You are a wonderful at this. So engaging and personable ❤️
Make these immediately!! They’re SO SO delicious!!!!
My husband used to travel a lot for work, and when I would go with him, I would buy the ingredients for these and make them in the hotel room kitchenette. He once had a student not originally from America, and she had never had krispy treats before. She ate so many of them. And asked for the recipe.

I’ve made these many times!! Definitely the best all round family treat. No one can say NO! lol.
These are my go to treats recipe - and I add a splash of vanilla ❤
One of my favourite recipes from SK! I made them for my Year 11 students last term and they loved them. Such a good sweet/crunchy/salty combo
+ peanut butter and occasionally sub out rice krispies for corn flakes. so versatile :)
Great job!!!
I haven’t tried these yet but I am so excited to make them. They look so awesome. Thank you for a great treat.
The regular rice crispy treats have always been a favorite in our family but this takes it to another level~ 😊♥️
These are delicious! Sometimes I drizzle melted semisweet chocolate over half the batch.
Ok! Just added marshmallows and Rice Krispies to the shopping list. My granddaughters will be so excited.
Thank you soooo much!
💖💛💖💖🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I'll have to try this with the browned butter. I use the mini marshmallows and always add another 5 oz (1/2 bag) of them when I mix the cereal into the melted marshmallows. And sprinkles for the season. My son-in-law has said he could eat the whole pan by himself.

My local bakery makes these I absolutely the best rice krispies treat I have ever ate.
In Deb we trust.
Best. Recipe. Ever. ✋🏾 ✋🏾. Down. Can I add the salt before adding the marshmallows?
Hands down the best crispy treat recipe I’ve found !
These are great. And I think they are even better if you only use 4 1/2 cups of rice crispies instead of 6!
I save the butter wrapper to press mine down in the pan and I also add some vanilla before stirring in the the cereal!
These are the only rice krispy treats my husband will eat! They really are addictive. I know from experience 😬😅
Didn't have Rice krispies, so I tried Cheerios
tasted great to me
I love this recipe! I have trouble getting the brown specs out of the bottom of the pan. What kind of pan do you use?
2qt sauce ban then transfer into a larger pan something I boil spaghetti in
Yes, love this recipe! And I have absolutely had the experience of “Oh, you just made Rice Krispie treats…” until someone tries them :)
Deb, you are such a natural in front of the camera, personally I think you should have your own TV show! They are called "The Ultimate Rice Krispies Treats" so I don't think she's hiding it! :-)
My husband loves rice krispy treats and I told him we could not buy the big box of them at Costco. Now it looks like I'll be making these instead!
Saves money too!! 😁😁😅
I want to make these for my work party! I didn’t notice if you said how much rice cereal to add?
How should i keep and for how long?
Pop for high quality butter. It makes a difference.
Is there a brand of vegetarian marshmallows that works well?
Deb, you're evil!! All of your deserts are wonderful, and seeing you make them makes me want to make them and gobble them all up. My pants are so mad at you!!
Could you get the same affect with bacon bits?
My friend Michelle made these with chai spice instead of salt and it was about a decade ago and I still can’t stop thinking about them 😬
When you use browned butter (in other recipes) instead of regular butter, do you measure cup per cup? Does the loss of water or whatever make a difference in the measurements?
It depends on the recipe; here it is not an issue.
Mbrown butter rice krispie treats yum❤
This is my go to when I have to bring 'cookies". However, I've never made your recipe. Salt.....who woulda thunk it. haha
Smitten kitten looks yummy
Just saw this. You know what would be yummy since I like toasted marshmallows …. Spread some marshmallow fluff on top and torch it. 🤤🤤🤤
Delta 9 treats 😋
Salted or unsalted butter?
Nice I have young lady who’s going to make this for me I have bought the ingredients we bought puffed marshmallows I ask do you ad salt she said no that the butter has salt so I added salt in the jar of marshmallows because I like sweet and salt I can’t wait until Tuesday it’s Friday
I wanted to make them healthy - haha- so I made some with Special K.
Ok but what size bag of marshmallows and how much cereal? All you specified was butter amout.
This is one of those days when I am do happy I do not have marshmallow nor crispy cereal in the house. What I DO have not s ingredients for your quick lemon bars
Marshmallow Children tee hee hee. I cant wait to eat these! Thanks : )

1 pan is the serving!
