  • 2009 Lexus LX570
    145k
I acquired this vehicle from a fellow collector/enthusiast from California. Flew in and drove it back to Colorado.
When I purchased the vehicle at 137k I did the following :
    Radiator
    Water pump
    Radiator hoses 1&2
    Thermostat
    Flushed the suspension fluid
I’ve also done 2 oil changes with Mobil1 5w30 full synthetic
The previous owner had spark plugs , brakes , and all fluids replaced at 135k as well as a new set of Michelin tires
As you’ll hear and see in this video - this rig is very impressive in and out.

I have the LX570 2010 in the same color. I agree 💯 it's one of the best vehicles ever! My current mileage is 126K! The only major work I had to do on it since buying it 3 years ago was similar to what you did. New tires, radiator, water pump, and recently I had to change the driverside headlamp unit. As far as modifications: I removed the 3rd row seats. Lots more cargo space (especially when you fold over one or both of the 2nd row seats).

Thanks for the comment ! I would take the radiator issue seriously , even if you’re rig is 2014, it’s still one of the most common failures on a 200 series. Get it replaced and do the water pump at same time. Also good time to check other stuff while you’re in there.

I have the same car here in Australia (you may have seen my AHC fluid flush video). In my 8 years of ownership it's been awesome.
I worked around the Bluetooth audio problem by installing a cheap Bluetooth receiver behind the dash and wired a 90 degree 3.5mm audio jack through the console so that the wiring is hidden and the AUX door on the console can close with it still plugged in.
I still leave my phone paired to the car's phone Bluetooth so I can use the car's phone controls, but also connect to the Audio Bluetooth at the same time. It works seamlessly because the car shuts off the audio when making a phone call anyway.
BTW, I tow a large caravan (travel trailer) and was over the GVM of the car when the van was attached due to the 300kg towball weight. My kids are grown up, so I removed all of the rear seats to bring it back under the weight limit (very strict here in Australia). So just a note for others, the 2nd row seats weigh 80kg, and the 3rd row weigh 20kg each, All up 120kg weight reduction and now my Lexus is like a two seat luxury delivery van, haha.
To stop the airbag warning due to the 2nd row seat side airbags no longer being connected, I placed a 2.2 ohm resistor in the yellow airbag connectors.
    Thanks for your review.

I'm Canadian. I live in Florida and Quebec and drive up and down about twice a year in my LX570 either to ski or spend part of the summer. It has 200,000 miles now and it is great. Averages 18 mpg at 80 mph. When things need fixing, I fix them asap. I drive it mostly on trips or weekends. It is fast but lumbering if you are not used to it. I can never understand why owners don't just leave the fob, which is a proximity sensor, in their pocket.

    Great video👍 and details.
I had 2000 LX 470 bought in 2002 with 25k miles keep that Truck for 22 plus year it was still worth about 16k .. My both kids learned how drive on that truck it was most reliable car we ever had including LS 460 and Rx 350 all three above there class!
When last month I have a eye on new 2012 or 2015 LX 570 I couldn’t resist after the test drive. I have to convince my wife some negative things about LX 470 even though there’s was NON except the small RUST START GETTING..
Pursue was successful and got Passed next for first to try to sold my car because the dealer on the trade-in was give me 4k with 129k miles..
I decide sell my own posted on the Facebook marketplace Belive me within 48hr it was 75 messages and it was sold in 12k cash.
Following Monday pick up 2012 LX 570 has 87k miles it even smell like the brand new and it has same Color you have Metallic blue with black interiors.
My only complaint is too quit to drive I really feel like sometime it not moving and I’m really floating that’s really make me feel sleepy..
So I put loud music to keep me awake..
One thing I will say this truck is not for every day commuter car . You have to have other options available. This is a Family full-size vehicle confert and pleasure driving in mind ..
You my have many other dirty things in mind but that’s the main purpose🥵

I'm in Ontario, Canada so my area has all 4 seasons and they are harsh combined with horrible roads. My daily 2008 Grand Cherokee Overland Hemi hit 200kms this year so I decided to get a newer daily. No matter what people say about Chrysler, my Jeep has been a beast that gave me 100% security always wherever I went. I also have a 2000 SR5 4runner that's for weekends. Bone stock and runs like top with only 210kms and I'll keep it forever. I'm not crazy about most modern vehicles. They look like electric shavers and not made to last. I also find tech distracting and don't need it, just more to go wrong. I keep my vehicles min 10 years. I had been looking at a few options like Jeep, 4runner, ML, Denali, GX, and more. I didn't consider an LX because usually they're too much and always have high kms used. I also hate the new Lexus front end design (offense intended to anyone who likes it because it's just as offensive, it's not understated luxury anymore) also an LX as just my daily seemed like it was maybe too big for one guy. Wife has a Diesel Grand Cherokee we take on road trips because over 1000kms a tank highway. After an exhausting search I was going to go with a 2016 GX with 113kms and perfect condition. I got up and was headed to work and going to sign at lunch and the first vehicle I get behind in traffic was an LX. One look I knew if I got that GX I'd feel inferior always. I arrived at work and immediately changed my search to include the LX..and the Car Gods smiled upon me..there it was in all its glory...the only one in my area...A 2013 LX570 with only 75,000kms or 46,000miles. Silver with dark interior. I went right over to see it. The place sells lots of high end exotics etc. They had it waiting in a warehouse with a hundred other beautiful vehicles, some costing more than a condo. It was parked with a Rover, X5 and ML immediately around it. After inspection I closed the doors a few times and it's like a muted bass thud and just solid like I never expected or experienced in a vehicle. I turned and quickly tested the doors on all three of those others and it wasn't a comparison on any level. I had to do it a few times more because its so satisfying. Forget gadgets in a vehicle, I'll be entertained by that sound over six screens and mood lights any day. I was staring at it just thinking about the extra $20k over the GX when an employee who details the vehicles walks by and says to me, "If you gift me anything in this place I would choose this Lexus because I am from Pakistan and in my country this is a Land Cruiser and it is the best vehicle made ever." I pick it up next week.

@@glengoodwin7860 I'm really excited about this truck. I've been asked by a few people why I chose a 10 year old (13 for the platform) gas guzzling dinosaur sized luxury SUV with no modern features for a new vehicle? The answer is pretty simple, I don't care what anyone else thinks. I Googled, "What is the most reliable vehicle in the world?" The answer 9/10 times says the LC/LX is renowned the world over as the best made longest lasting vehicle. I figured I'm not willing to debate the whole world. I'll quote Ferris Bueller, "If you have the means, I highly suggest picking one up."

@@glengoodwin7860 I've had her for two days and she's just amazing. At 10 years old it's like new. Everyone who has seen her is floored by the luxury, build quality, the sound system, and looks. So incredibly smooth and quiet it's actually shocking. Just beyond my expectations. My buddy has a 2021 Escalade he loves, I didn't tell him what I bought so I could get his true reaction. His jaw dropped when I pulled in his driveway, and after he got the "Quirks and Features" tour (AHC, power seats, cooler, etc) I let him go around the block. He said it's upsetting him that he didn't know how good the LX was when he bought his truck. He didn't even consider it because the reviews said the technology was old and he's right, thank Jeebus. He called me later and said he thought the Caddy was the goods, but it feels cheap compared to the LX. He couldn't get over how quiet it was, the way it floated, and how incredibly well built and solid feeling it was actually comforting and effortless. I'm in total agreement it is the best vehicle I have ever owned and I haven't even figured out half the toys... THE OWNERS MANUAL OMFG!!! It could choke a hippo. That's why the gas mileage sucks, having to carry it around as just dead weight. Maybe I can bring it it the house and use it for an ottoman?

@@glengoodwin7860 Oh man it is a rig for sure. I've always had a bit of a heavy right foot but not in this sweet Chariot of the Gods. This is to be seen and enjoy every moment of the journey. I took some workmates for lunch and it was nothing but oohs and ahhs about it. The guy with the X5 said, "it doesn't make sense more people don't buy this because it's more inviting and obviously better built than a BMW." The absolute isolation from outside noise is beyond explanation to someone who never experienced it. It shouldn't be this powerful and quiet but it succeedes beyond normal experience in SUVs. While everything else is all drama, with a loud exhaust or mood lights like they are dying for attention like a teen pop star that will eventually fade, the LX is Pavarotti. I feel like a better person in it, not to sound snobby but that's just how it is. I'm more proud it's 10 years old and getting compliments like it's a new one and still worth $100k because to me it is and always will be.

He's not lying. I've owned 3 different series of Cruisers(80, 100, & 200). The Lux Cruiser is a hidden gem, but the AHC system is sketch. So, sketch, Lexus hates working on it. I own a LX470, and the AHC just randomly went out. So I just removed it. I recently just bought a 2015 LX570 b/c my 2011 Land Cruiser was totaled in a car wreck. The LX570 had 102,000 miles on itwhen I bought it and the AHC had already been replaced. Great question as it’s mostly overlooked by dealerships and majority of LX owners. factory service manual states 60k intervals for suspension fluid bleed and refill. I take this maintenance pretty serious , so I do one initial bleed and refill on every LX I’ve owned as soon as it’s purchased. From there I just keep the fluid clean and would bleed every 30k to check coloring of fluid. Very similar to bleeding brakes , super simple.

The vehicle speaks for itself but I think you’re eating something and that’s annoying as an Indian rickshaw.

Seems priced too high. Drop the price a couple grand and you'll have no issues selling this beast of a vehicle.

Nice review… one issue is that when you are talking it sounds like you have gum or candy in your mouth… just another way to improve your presentation. 👍

Very sad! Lexus first made a cheaper one in 2016, then LX600. This is the last one that come out of Japan. In the name of saving the world from pollution! And now accountants is controlling the cars makers, not engineers.

The Lexus LX and land cruiser is definitely still made in Japan to this day. Actually the Lexus LX is made in a more specialized plant ( in Japan ) than the Toyota LC.

Here's a free tip if you want more views/subscribers: stop chewing gum in your videos. The microphone picks it up very clearly, and it is absolutely disgusting, so much so that I had to stop watching.

Not concerned about you not liking my gum chewing. although I’ve made sure to not chew gum in my future videos , it’s not the end of the world for me if someone is going to cry about some gum chewing. Move along to the next video. Thanks for your advice , though.
