Happy Friday guys! What are you hoping to see in the next generation Lexus LX? We'd def like to see Lexus add more interior space, better fuel-efficiency, improved handling, and just an overall more prestigious feel. Expect to see a new version of this truck in the next two years!

The reason the LX 570 sells better than Landcruiser is because the Landcruiser cost way too much for a TOYOTA badge. For about $10,000 more you can get into a LX570. Most people who could afford a Landcruiser can also afford an LX570 so its a no brainer to get the more Luxurious version of the same SUV.
If they made the Landcruiser $20,000 less it may be affordable for the mainstream.

It's the same reason why the ES 350 sells significantly more than the Avalon. If you're already looking at a $40,000+ large sedan, you might as well be looking at the ES for the Lexus badge, interior, benefits, and service experience.

The problem with the Lexus is the higher depreciation. I would only buy the LX used but am considering a new LC. Also I completely intend to take either off road, not rock crawling but will not spend its entire life on road. Low mileage 2016 go for roughly the same price and are nearly identical to brand new.

?? I would assume if you didn't care about tech and infotainment, you would buy a 2010 LX570 or something. Using that excuse for a 2020 MY car doesn't work. Look at Nissan. That 370Z has been the same, with no updates whatsoever, since 2009 and they're still selling it in 2020. They're just piling up at dealers because why would anyone spend $40k on a 2020 370Z when they could get a 2013 one for much cheaper and it be literally the exact same car. Yes reliability is a big plus, but when people want to buy luxury, they would also expect some decent tech and infotainment stuff nowadays that is somewhat up to date.

@@LimiitedChans I think your missing a huge point. People that buy these also typically have another less reliable car in the garage also. The people that buy these really can literally afford not to care about those little issues. What they need is dependability in everyway. Used brings up too many issues with titles, mileage etc. If you can afford to not care, you buy a new one that was yours from the ground up.

So naive, so foolish. $100k is just the initial sales price. The cost of insurance for a $100k SUV will be notably higher (in the thousands per year) than my crossover of choice, the Highlander. US department of energy estimates 5 year fuel costs for the Land Cruiser at $6k more than an average vehicle (based on 27 mpg). The Highlander is $1k more. The Highlander features a buttery smooth powertrain and ride, a proven V6 and a competent 8 speed. It'll easily reach 15 years of use and use $15000 less worth of gas, at which point you can spend another $15,000ish for a new Highlander that'll last another 15+ years.
I won't keep boring you with the details but let's get down to it. You don't need a Land Cruiser or LX 570 for longevity. Anyone who says that is focusing too much on history and not enough on reality.

Tired of "no digital dash!" complaining...if you're after digital displays buy another iPad! If Lexus starts cramming every digital gadget into their cars, they will become just like every other lux brand...unreliable and risky to own past warranty period. I was born and raised in east africa, and the landcruiser is EVERYWHERE. It just never dies and can take the most extreme environments, the nissan patrol coming at a distant 2nd. Even when i went to the middle east, the landcruiser was everywhere. I dont understand why toyota wants to sell the landcruiser (and LX) in north america, theres almost no market for it and it gets unfairly compared to the BMW/Merc/Range rover when its apples to oranges. The landcruiser has a completely different reason for existing then taking it to malls and concerts. If they change the landcruiser in any significant way, they'll lose majority of all the sales they do on it in asia, middle east, Africa and Australia. Just pull it out of the north american market and re-design the 13 year old sequoia to suit the market.

For an argument for longevity, none of the competitors will outlast this thing. True to form, Lexus is very apprehensive to radically change electronics and powertrains. The i-Force V8 is 15 years old and has not added any power or technical bits(though the Lexus did get an 8spd 4 years ago). Toyota spends serious R&D revenue and time to develop components that last many vehicle life-cycles over. Where they're smart in the case of the LX, they spent the money where it counts. Soft-touches in the interior, the comfort of the seats, and definitely the ride quality. Part of the reason that the LX has significant cost is the pneumatic suspension(sorry Sofyan, it is not an "air suspension"). It is very unique and very complex, but very reliable and supremely comfortable, even with a short 112" wb. I know that Sofyan stated he would take an X7 or GLS. In a lease situation, absolutely, but for a purchase? Hell no. The resale value on the LX alone is worth it over the Euros...

5:06 this is not for foldin rear seats, this button lowers the car every time you turn it off so makes it easy to eat out.

RELIABILITY DOESN'T MATTER ON A NEW CAR!

The thing about Lexus is they don't just jump on the next trendy things just because those other manufacturers are doing. It seems like they want to make sure what they put in their vehicles will actually work in the long run.

Ya know Sofyan, something I've noticed over time is you've began to infuse more and more negative language into your reviews. Words like "hateful" and "garbage" you've used to describe certain aspects of a vehicle are really unnecessary and come out of left field at times. Your fellow YT reviewers offer better comprehensive real-world reviews without coming across so negative and judgmental. Is it a new style you're experimenting with? Is it the effect of Covid? Whatever it is I hope it changes.

That's how people will literally review cars at a dealer 😒. I like the language because it's honest. Some other car guys try to draw rainbows on you when they review a car. When you see the cars in person it's a lot of plastic crap.

I haven’t noticed the language thing you’re talking about. I think his reviews remain very good. I do think he drones on and on about infotainment tech stuff way too much and he is a bit whiny at times, especially about seemingly stupid stuff he has personal pet peeves about.
