My wishlist for a future expansion : make gathering professions secondary that anybody can pick (maybe limit to 2 secondary professions only), and add additional crafting professions. Make cooking a primary profession with added depth.
@@christianjensen952 same thing! Instead of primary/secondary, divide them by crafting/gathering and let people have 2 of each. Or 2 and 1 if unbalanced but I doubt it. Of course keep all the talent trees and perks, and keep further expanding.
I wish cooking and fishing had skill trees. Would like to specialize in certain cooking or fishing aspects. I like the idea of gathering professions as something everything has (like some other games).
Archeology could provide artifacts used as a resource in crafting and enchanting. Future expansion could borrow gimmicks from Dragonscale Expedition to make it fun
Thanks for answering my question and thanks for all your guides on wowhead and your videos here. I've made a lot of gold and you are a big reason for that. It's only fair for you to get a cut 😁
I suspect that overpriced rank 1 mats is a scam. When you search for an item on the AH, it is sorted by price and since you expect that the highest price has to be rank 3, you just buy the most expensive one and end up as a sad panda. It actually just happened to me with Runed Writhebarks
Leather/skin, alchemist/herb is what i did in vanilla -mist, all my toons all but 2 were max level ,all raid geared,/ season 11 pvp, i come back agter like 5ish years, all now 35-45(pally) workimg her her, since she enchanter, and drop skinner thought of blacksmith simce she is plate, , mage might be my 3rd alt, has tailoring/mining, ( cuz of a bs,and a jc' needs ore, ) and (4th priest) too is alchemy/herb, 5th( death night)jc /miner, 6th (humter) leather/ski. 7th druid alchemy and herb again.. lol .. but dont have Inscription or engineer, might switch one to that. What u think. ..i never intended to farm/make gold back then just wanted to be self sufficient, ... but might as well do both. What are your thoughts?
But with new rep Renowned, I would switch, might go with your video.. on combo, I got kmore gatherers then crafter lol, I thought back then grind/farm basic Mats was better... but now base mats are way to cheap.
I just made an alt and on my main I have herb/mining. Which two professions would be good on the alt to make some gold this patch? Thanks for the tips :)
Alchemy is super strong due to dracothyst and enchanting will likely be strong this week due to the new enchanted crests... definitely make sure you pick up cooking as well .... if you are looking for a bit more long term profession, I would pick something else up besides enchanting, but you can always switch it out later after the hype of enchanted crests go down!
@@Penguinr2gt nice, thanks for the recommendation, would you say JC/BS as second profession is in a good state this expansion to take advantage of mining in my other character? Also, whats the point with cooking? It's in high demand? Which items sell for good money?
I suspect the reason behind the prices for R1 mats, are just players blindly posting without checking the prices for higher quality. Even if some players are aware, i suspect they might be inexperienced players hoping that their lower quality mats will still sell at a higher price. There likely won't be much undercutting or competition as all the experienced players do not sell this quality at all. Less undercutting means that the prices are slower to catch up to R2 prices. The increased prices can probably be explained by low volume and how relatively easy it is to reset the prices. In reality though, no experienced crafter is going to buy any kind of R1 bulk at increased prices.
Games is right, you can have as many accounts as you like as long as they are under your name. You can have up to 8 WoW accounts under a single bnet too.
With regards to your first question and quality and profession systems…. Why does Blizzard waste our time making low quality mats and and low ILVL Gvl gear that really no one wants and can easily be obtained in open world content? Why not reconfigure the system to not waste time and mats so we can just get to the recipes of stuff people really want? Also your thoughts on getting knowledge and/or skill points from having maxed out professions from earlier expansions, recognizing old customers?
Low item level is nice for fresh Alts - I buy/craft basic gear all the time for my fresh level 70s. Of course low version replaced but they are there for the start of the expansion. You gotta have a quality 1 to have a quality 3. I do not think expansions should be connected - new players or returning players would be punished just for being new/taking a break, I think it’s great that all expansions are disconnected in that way
@@Penguinr2gt thank you for your response... why have quality 1-3, when almost everyone really only wants quality 3? time and resources wasted in making these items should be taken into consideration... if you noticed, i am very concerned about time requirements REQUIRED in the game else its pay to play with WoW tokens... anything over 15 hours/week, imho, directly effects family and life balance; on tying previous expansions, it is equally punishing those customers/players who spent tim and effort to max out in previous expansions... certainly, providing 1-3 knowledge and skill points, let's say, would not be too punishing?
I do not like the new profession system. There is too much bloat going on... Bloat on types of materials, bloat on ranks on materials, bloat on inspiration-related stuff, bloat on profession tools, and the entire window itself is bloaty. It is also very buggy.... Like if I want to do older crafts from other expansions, it auto selects new expansions randomly. I hope it goes back to a simpler style.
Oh my heart crushed when I got that advice - not to pair gathering with crafting professions. Thats exactly what I was doing whole my wow life xD. Also could you please give some advice - I currently have pretty buffed herbalism+inscription on one char and decent tailoring+enchanting on second char. Now I've made 3rd char that I'm going to play in 10.1 - and I wanted to pick mining+jewelcrafting. Is this a good idea in terms of possible profit? Or should I go like alchemy+jewelcrafting on it?
Are you going to actively gather? If so, you can pick up mining/JCing, if you find yourself not gathering, there’s no point in picking up a gathering profession
Alright couple things first if you're just buying herbs off the auction house yeah you generally don't make. If you are willing to farm the herb yourself you can make a crap ton of gold.
Farmed herbs aren’t free. If you lose gold buying herbs and crafting it into something, you also lose gold farming herbs and crafting it into something.
Hello Penguin, your videos are amazing. I'm currently herb/alch but I don't really farm herbs tbh... do you recommend picking up ench for 10.1? I leveled an army of 70s for every class even tho I don't have a lot of free time to play. So maybe just focus on main with alch/ench if you think that'll work. Thank you!
Yea! Any profession is better than gathering professions that you don’t use :P. Enchanting and Alchemy should be particularly strong in 10.1, especially at the start.
Lots of people are doing alchemy alt armies right now, assuming dracothyst is expensive, it can be a great way to make gold. Even the normal transmutes do well. Just need to have free time to grind out the dracothyst recipes if that’s what you want to focus on
There’s 3 gathering professions - mining and herbalism are way better paired together than any combo with skinning. Skinning can be paired with whatever profession you want since it’s left over
I think making some use of Archaeology would be nice for crafting professions. I wish they would allow us to have 1 gathering and 2 crafting, so we can actually pair like herb with profs that use it like alch/inscription. I'm not a big alt fan And i've done 1 gathering 1 crafting in the past and no issues with it until i swap to 2 crafting then i just cba to use alts for it as I just like to stick to my main. It would certainly be a QoL change if they allowed us to have 1 gathering with 2 crafting imo
I wouldnt be opposed to that! Even if gathering professions became "secondary" professions (still with their complexity) and so everyone could go around and gather, I think that would be pretty fun too.
I love your videos but I have to say none of the stuff you ever mention has ever made me any money :D The one video you did make that made me money was picking up the paint brush junk item, that you can do on each character, so levelling an alt army is the only solution. I don't do raids or M+ because... the people are usually not so nice so professions were the only way I attempted to make money. For a few weeks it was great and then everyone caught up and everything went down, on the AH, and everyone started getting rich :D. So professions are dead. I admit I don't sell an item unless it sells for a good profit. Sell little make loads. Because I can't stand thousands of items in my Postbox every 12 hours. And also undercutting is so annoying these days. The only way to make money is to level 10 alts are do raw gold WQ's. That's my tip.
I appreciate your honesty! And the fact that you still enjoy the videos whether you find them helpful or not. Professions definitely are not dead, of course some perform better than others at specific times but there’s still plenty of gold to be made. Keeping up with Knowledge Points and checking in on markets is my best advice for you. Some days items are -5g a piece while the next day prices adjusted and I can sell them constantly for 15g profit. Despite not having success with crafting, I’m glad you found a way through raw gold!
@@Penguinr2gt Don't get me wrong, SO many of your tips have helped me to hit my first Million but the market has just tanked on my EU server.
