Great video, thank you very much! I came from a Monk in BfA and Shadowlands, playing melee healers is so fun! Now I'm playing Holy paladin in Dragonflight. Best regards from Chile!
im starting to play a holy pala, i just spammed the heals no ideas how it really worked so, thanks now im healing while using attack, unreal! ill start looking into the pvp side as ill be using that mainly thanks
This confused the hell out of me, as someone who played Holy Paladin healer back in TBC and Wrath raiding. Things have changed so much I don't even recognize and understand how healing is now.
For the next video, if you're not already planning to say it: I struggle to know whether to WoG or LoD when using Beacon of Virtue. It feels like theoretically in AoE healing scenarios (e.g. Hyrja, Boss 2+3 in CoS) LoD makes more sense, but I only really see paladins use WoG with BoV
wog much more efficient if BoV is out because AoE heals and ST heals scale different for beacons. LoD is better for DPS because it could proc twice and thus could proc wings twice.
Try to time your empyrean legacy buff with the 20% more powerfull wog in concrete at bosses like hyrja. 1. Concrete 2. Judgement 3. BoV 4. WoG Then you can use divine toll to get 5 hp back and wog again in BoV window
Hi, what do you think of the old legion trick of using beacon of virtue right after casting holy light, you think is still worth using in certain circumstances? I agree that casting is not nearly as efficient as it used to be, but I still find It useful on fight with high burst aoe like advisor meladrus: I start casting holy light 1 second before slicing maelstrom begins, it does a large amount of aoe healing and since it's highly likely that infusion of light is up it also generates two holy power, then I use word of glory with 2-3 stacks of unending light.
I'm a vet resto druid trying to learn holy pala and this vid really helped! One part that I still struggle with is when big healing is required and divine toll is on CD. I beacon, LoD, holy shock, WoG for some big burst, but then if the damage continues I feel pretty screwed - now I'm at 0 holy power, holy shock is on cooldown, and I end up crusader striking twice while my party is dying around me which feels awful. Am I missing something?
if you are able to top up the party during the beacon window then that should usually be enough to survive until the beacons come around. But ofc this is going to change drastically depending on what scenario we are talking about and most times you will just have to make do with whatever you can scrap until then. That is the nature of holy paladin right now.
Don’t use all your CDs together so you don’t run into these, usually wings are enough and beacon+DT is enough, also pool up to 5 holy power before high damage phases so you dont have to cast alot of generators
nice video, i wish there was a talent that modifies how infusion of light works since it doesn't really fit in the playstyle anymore. Besides even if we were caster, infusion of light is pretty boring as it is
in raids you can always turn your camera around if you know the ranged need prio heals. Otherwise you don't really focus on healing ranged players. In m+ you don't really use LoD much so it's ok. The few times you use it is when you know you will be able to hit most players anyways (ranged included)
I'm trying to get into all healers and Paladin feels nice because you can instant top players at all times, the healing is very good. The big reason, why Holy Paladin is a little bit of a downer for me is the Mana management. I played all healers except monk and with Pala I always go oom very very fast and the reason is the Holy Shock spam. It also doesn't feel good to see how low the dps output looks when you just spammed everything for damage. I think it would feel much better if the mana cost would be lowered and the dps scaling would get a buff.
@@MidwayPaladin DPS on mine felt really bad below 410~ But the annulet with dps gems can really help early on & once you have gear and decent haste/vers everything kind of comes together well. You could always cheese it and just spam keys on a prot pally and do 20's in 400 ilvl ;O and swap once u have gear.
I'd love to know how you like to spend your infusion of light procs in mythic plus or raid. I feel like I'm ignoring my procs most of the time and I dont think this is the best practice.
Just ignore them. They are useless unless under very specific conditions. In raids never use HL or FoL unless smh you are stuck far and have a spare gcd. In m+ with Divine Favor you do want to use HL but otherwise never cast anything.
How do you deal with the more intense M+ times? 3rd Boss in NO. Herjia in HOV (storm) and the Arcane dude in AA? Thanks btw. I play Mistweaver, Shaman and Evoker but I'm learning Holy Paladin and Disc Priest now. Sorry if these are annoying!
I've been maining my pally this xpac and have been tanking 99% of the time. But there's times where my GL wants to tank on his pally so I need to get better at holy because NOBODY wants to heal anymore so finding healers for M+ is such a pain.
This is merely one method to playing a hpally. There is a caster build as well. I'm not sure on the efficacy vs Midway's build but there are options to fit your playstyle. For now, I play a caster build because I hope to see a rework for Avenging Crusader (AC). AC build focuses more on Crit & haste to increase your dps output and healing while active since Mastery gives no bonuses to it. Other builds suggest haste & mastery. It's all messed up right now.
I’d love to learn about avenging crusader and if that could fit into an m+ build 👀 I really like the class fantasy of it haha I am the ret paladin now. Any thoughts?
FoL should be a filler or a very last resort since it will set you back in your rotation. There is always a situation where using a FoL might be the right play, but most of the time is not.
it is greatly situational. If you can hit 4+ targets then it's better to use it over WoG as you get more healing out of it. But there is more nuance to that. The healing transfer through beacons is lesser for LoD than for WoG. Meaning that using WoG through beacons can be a bigger burst of healing than using LoD, specially if at 9 stacks of unending light. WoGs healing profile can just be better depending of the kind of damage and healing prio you have. Everything is always situational but the rule of thumb is that 4+ targets and pure aoe healing scenarios then LoD is better.

Thanks for these. How do you heal ranged players in the raid or mythic + ? These players are too far away to benefit from the melee heals.

not for holy

Haste > Mastery for raiding

AC was used in m+ a lot before the 10.0.7 changes. Not so much now since it's weaker vs normal wings both in damage and healing.

it's a WeakAura called Raid Ability Timer. You can find it on wago.io or in the spreadsheet linked in my description.
is it just me or does hpaly seem to be the weakest among the healers ?
I timed all keys on +19 last week at 404 ilvl and I’ve been playing it at 70 for like three weeks. Feels strong to me just lacking in dps
