Well tvs back then did use actual electron guns to fire electrons at a phosphor screen (and your face). That said, it wasn't really dangerous then because of the electron gun either. It's just not great for your eyes long term, I think mostly due to the even brightness. Let's be honest though, we are all going to need glasses/contacts/laser correction at some point. The world is far to reliant on screens now. Hopefully someone comes up with a solid bionic eye replacement. I want night vision, thermal vision, and video display all built into my eyeballs. 😂
The XReal designs the lens in a way that makes it appear as if it were a few meters away. That's why people with near sighted vision have to use their contacts or prescription attachment to use them. They're great if you want to avoid myopia.
I just bought these during the Amazon Prime day sale and have sent them back. I am shortsighted and these were my first pair of XR glasses. Having said that, Skywalker app for MacOS is pretty cool, allowing 3 side by side screens in different layouts.

I’m happy I already invested hours into watching other reviews. It’s not okay to compare the older generation of a company’s products and not mention that everything you mentioned was addressed and fixed in the new/current model the company sells. This seems like you were paid to promote one product over the other, and I don’t say that lightly because doing that without informing your audience would destroy your credibility. You didn’t share the other company’s adapter that’s similar either though, so this is just very misleading and alarming. Why would you compare a current generation product to a last generation product? Why would you only share one company’s accessories in the same category? Why would you not mention there is a new updated product that addresses your concerns?
The air 2 pro are incredible compared to the air 1. Air 2's image is more sharp and bright yet somehow the optics being smaller made the image noticibly larger for me on the air 2 pro. Electrochromic is a must after using it. Somehow the 100 percent blocks out all diffused light yet allows light about 2.5 ft away to still come through very dimly but somehow clear. Its completely black yet phone is visible along with peoples movements around me. The convenience of the dimming is emense on planes and i use this every time i fly to either do work or watch a movie which looks damn near 4k with the combined resolution of each eye. Viture is over rated considering its greater brightness is due to the image being much smaller in addition to terrible contrast. Lastly viture is only 60hz refresh rate which is not ideal for competative games like call of duty.
If they were wireless or atleast didnt need to conect to switch directly but have a dongle on switch and portable battery for the glasses i would get em
@fgerv you are good at answering a question I did not ask. I am only asking about STANDARD 3D BLURAY MOVIES. Content on the internet and iOS are irrelevant.
1080p is unacceptable for me for anything with text/code/vector graphics. Quest 3 is a much better deal given the specs/price, but I don't like added weight and that I have no interest in the metaverse. After trying Xreal/Viture/Rokid for quite a while, I'd wait until these offer 4k+ resolution.
Put aside text/code: I agree that the Quest 3 is a better deal, the important caveat being that it has far fewer pixels per degree (PPD), so not well-suited to reading text/code.

yeah i am a programer , this glasses will be a real help , the dioptrias is a very usefull feature , but que resolution is something poor for me, i have a 49" monitor , would be really fantastic get a similar widescreen aspect ratio 32:9 o 16:9 etc
@, agreed. Even just something with the resolution of the GOOVIS G3 MAX (2560x1440, 46 PPD), but with the "glasses" form factor (ability to see desk, comfort) would be great. The Immersed Visor sounds very cool, but I'm worried they're "biting off more than they can chew". Also the 43 PPD is sort of moving in the wrong direction, even 50 PPD isn't great.
Anyone uses Viture with Steam Deck? I have heard and seen some shaddy images on reddit, but it seems like ventilation on the Deck is blocked with the Viture mobile dock mount...
I fail to see how the iPhone 14 not having a now standard USB-C port, or Nintendo failing to include a functional USB-C port, is at all XReal or Viture's fault. A little like blaming Tesla for not supporting gasoline refueling at their Supercharger stations.
I see AR Glasses and Headsets being very efficient and possible revolutionary in certain medical settings... Imagine being able to do open heart surgery with the patients vitals in your distant line of sight, or even an enhanced close up image of what you're doing. For consumers... I don't see much except for maybe Navigation via GPS guided directions... or enhanced vision or AI assisted prompts for people with low vision disabilities. I don't want my FaceBook or messages in my eyes, I want relevant, helpful information for the specific task, when I need it. I want AR to assist me, not distract me or draw me in about the latest news or Amazon Lightning Deal.
Can I still connect my earbuds so that I won't be using the speakers on the glasses? Cause when I'm on an airplane the speaker part is not a good idea.
It's too bad they don't have selective darkening so that only those areas that are lit up by the virtual screen are darkened by some select ratio. A great technology, and honestly it solves a lot of problems, but it's not quite mature yet.
The Xreal air 2 pros do have that technology. He compared the Viture to an older model Xreal. The new model has the electro chromatic darkening lenses.

@@thomasshaver1569 mm this is only en the cover lens , no in the prismatic or screen, because is a a reflection, are tecnologies distincts
Nice review, but the X-Real beam solved most of the problems mentioned, plus it ads more features and a 320 inch screen. The x-real 2 pro has better audio quality, brightness, and includes electro chromic lenses, plus they're lighter and have improved balance and nose cushions. You should do your research. 😅
Do your research as well, 320 inch is pure overmarketing while FOV stays the same...Viture already have better audio quality, brightness, and electro chromic lenses that was copied by xreal
@@sergekonevsky “copied by xreal” come on now… that’s like saying ford copied back up cameras from Chevy… its a feature that as a consumer you would expect products like these to have. Instead of commenting like a negative, applaud xreal for adopting it. And I don’t understand why everyone is even using audio quality as a comparison point. You are so limited by the nature of how the sound is being delivered to begin with… if you want good audio quality that will match the visual experience you’re gonna need nice earbuds or over ears. To me the audio comparison is negligible.
@@thomasshaver1569 Probably because people like you who tolerate this kind of copy, either work or support for this kind of company, so that companies with such low behaviors still exist.
@@sergekonevskyFunny how iPhone users are fine with such practices, when Apple announces "groundbreaking functionality" that has existed in other platforms for years. All works of art and culture (including technology) are derivative in nature, so "copying features" is a moot argument. I worked at an R&D facility for a major car manufacturer, and we had vendors regularly come and display tech that wasn't seen by consumers for > 5-10y minimum. My point is that unless a tech is proprietary and built in house (rare), all of these manufacturers have access to the same OEMs, making it a question of cost/profit/integration. Another example is Monitors/TVs and Memory (RAM). While there are a vast amount of brands designing/selling these products, there are less than 5 major manufacturers of LCD panels and flash memory that all those companies buy from...meaning a $2k TV could be using the same LCD panel as a $200 one.
@@sergekonevsky dude everything you’ve ever bought was a recycled idea… people like you are so near sided and have such a limited mind that it’d be a waste of my time to explain the depth of the meaning of the quote “there is no such thing as a new idea”
That's a HUGE flaw in the marketing if they don't add functionality to get a first person view of what they actually do. I'll call it right now - this product will fail simply because of that lack of foresight.
They say these work as productivity devices. A giant monitor for your laptop. You’ve not really done this at all or spoken about working for a couple days with this as your monitor. I’m going to assume that they don’t have the battery or comfort for this to be an option.
@@fgerv awesome! I’d love to hear more about what that’s like for you. I’m a software engineer. I’ve been considering these different kinds of virtual monitor devices and so far they all seem bad. I have a friend who has been doing VR and AR work for over 2 decades. I have another friend who is the head of VR (also working with AR tech and devices) for Lucasfilm. Both of them have ALL of the hardware available (sitting in boxes in their offices). And after talking to them, both individuals and their coworkers do all their work on real monitors and only put on AR/VR hardware to test specific things. I find this extremely telling. * What kind of work do you do? * Do you work with your glasses? * For how many hours a day do you work with your glasses? * Do you use this as your primary display device for your work? * What issues do you run into? * What would you need for this (or something like it) to be your primary display system to do your work? If something like this or the Meta pro visor or the Apple VR thing is going to be feasible for productivity instead of just being a toy … I feel like it needs to be a preferred way to work.
@@fgerv I just saw a pretty detailed review of these glasses. They pointed out a lack of sharpness around the edges that makes reading text pretty much impossible. They were also able to demonstrate the lack of sharpness with a camera on the screen in the glasses. These do not appear to be good enough to work on. I’m a software engineer. Everything I do is on screen and clarity matters. It also seem like the “120 inch screen at 3 meters” claim makes it a 24inch screen on a desk. So, a mundane monitor is larger. And, I use two of those. So, it’s WAY less screen size and the image quality is too poor to read text at the edges. I feel like I have my answer.
Companies have been trying this for the past 20 years. Still unsuccessfully. Ugly, bulky, too many cables. Same issues. Resolution has improved the rest is just as bad.
They need to come up with a wireless connection will be a major upgrade, and also an internal battery...i mean if your guna make something this high tech why not give it all the best features...?🤔🤔 its kinda pointless if you have to stay that close..might as well just look at the actual screen thats much larger
Eh, neither. They're kinda gimmick glasses. The screens are good, but the design is lacking. Image is too small and the frames get in the way, blocking part of the image. You'll just constantly be reminded and annoyed by the frames unless you're in the dark. I think these are good glimpses at what the future will be. Also, not that many devices support them.
I wonder if any of the smart glasses like the smart glasses in this video will connect to the backbone controller to my phone while I have my wired headphones connected to the backbone controller for playing games. I also wonder about the same thing about connecting my wired headphones to the headphone jack from my sony xperia 1 iv android phone to get 0 latency audio and plugging in any of the smart glasses to the usb c port from my phone. My sony phone supports video out from the usb c port. On my phone I use a 3.5mm auxiliary splitter for connecting my sennheiser hd 600 open back headphones to the 3.5mm aux splitter and my rode lavalier go mic from it's 3.5mm port to the same aux splitter for 0 latency audio for gaming. I set it up this way so I can use my wired headphones from it's 3.5mm port and my wired mic from it's 3.5mm port both at the same time. When I use the backbone controller I do the same thing except I plug the auxiliary splitter to the headphone jack on the backbone controller so I can use my wired headphones and my wired mic both at the same time. I bought the backbone controller specifically because it has a headphone jack. I have 4k movies stored locally on my micro sd card from my phone and I do the same thing that I have already described when watching 4k youtube videos and my 4k movies with the exception of not using the mic and the backbone controller. For example, will any of the smart glasses route the audio from the headphone jack from my phone when I plug in my wired headphones and route the video from my phone when using the usb c port as video out. I wanna be able to use my wired headphones for audio from my phones headphone jack and the smart glasses as an extension for video output from the usb c port from my phone. Unfortunately, none of the smart glasses don't have a resolution of 3840 x 2160p for each eye with a mini led display not oled at 1,000 nits that I'm looking for. The tcl ray neo x2 smart glasses have 1,000 nits and uses a micro led display and uses ar that I'm looking for instead of vr and mr but the tcl smart glasses does not have 3840 x 2160p resolution for each but have 1920x 1080p for each eye. 1080p resolution is too pixelated and not that sharp looking. I been used to using 4k since 2014. My sony xperia 1 iv android phone has a 4k oled 120 hz display, my 2022 razer blade 15 has a 4k 144 hz ips display and my samsung chromebook has a 4k 60 hz super amoled display. Using less than a 4k display is like the equivalent of having a 1080p tv instead of a 4k and have a library of 4k physical discs. I even watch 4k youtube videos even on 1080p displays on any device like a phone, laptop and tablet that has a 1080p display.
The xreals also have a mobile adapter called the "beam" that also allows charge for the switch, ps5, etc. It even ads 3DoF, which vitrue doesnt offer. This video is verge build a PC bad. Why even include xreal in the video (not even the latest xreal version) if you didn't do the much needed due diligence of reporting?

Don't buy any AR/Display glasses. Unless you have a small head or you are a child(not an adult child). You need to know the IPD of your eyes and the distance between the screens of the AR/Display glasses before you buy a set. It's funny you watch reviews of AR/display glasses, the reviewers look like they are cross-eyed because the screens are set so close together. These reviewers are clueless to why the screen looks blurry on the outer right and left sides. The outer sides look blurry because there is no IPD/PD setting and the screens are set too close together. All the glasses look like they are made for a kid or an adult with a small head.
In the air 2s are the edges of the image blurry
@@jessica49arrowyes the air. That’s why I’m returning the xreal air 2. Does the viture have blurry lenses?
The XReal Air 2 Pro has the electrochromic adjustment.
Does give a headache?
Thanks. Xreal has now a Pro model, test it 😅.
Also there is another brand called Rayneo, review it please
If they were wireless or atleast didnt need to conect to switch directly but have a dongle on switch and portable battery for the glasses i would get em
This is the answer MKBHD is looking for..
Do they decode 3D blue ray movies from hdmi output of a 3d player?
@fgerv a 3d bluray disk does have standards, the 3d bluray player hdmi output is standard. Do these glasses display the standard 3d output?
@fgerv you are good at answering a question I did not ask. I am only asking about STANDARD 3D BLURAY MOVIES. Content on the internet and iOS are irrelevant.
A lot of talking, but which one has better display? I have a hard time reading text on Xreal air 1
Amazing review
1080p is unacceptable for me for anything with text/code/vector graphics. Quest 3 is a much better deal given the specs/price, but I don't like added weight and that I have no interest in the metaverse. After trying Xreal/Viture/Rokid for quite a while, I'd wait until these offer 4k+ resolution.
You clearly don't understand resolution and ppd enough to talk as confidently as you do.
Pixel density.
Does it have 3D degrees of freedom ?
Viture does built-in. Xreal needs the another device called "Beam".
Which one is better in 2024
If you're going on a trip, in your favorite rocket ship. Flying through the sky, Little Einstein! Thanks for the memory.
For the Viture what adapter do I need to buy to connect my DJI drone? Dji air 2s Mt controller doesn't have a screen on it.
The Viture are awsome!!!
Plus X-real echo system is more robust and has some AR features as well and games.
Quite the contrary, viture's ecosystem is much more robust with the neckband, mobile dock and iOS XR support, xreal is not even close
Already been used for decades, buddy.
Does anyone know how Billy mays died?
Can I still connect my earbuds so that I won't be using the speakers on the glasses? Cause when I'm on an airplane the speaker part is not a good idea.
You should have compared to the xreal air 2 and xreal 2 pro.
DBZ scouter. Any with built in camera?
It's too bad they don't have selective darkening so that only those areas that are lit up by the virtual screen are darkened by some select ratio.
A great technology, and honestly it solves a lot of problems, but it's not quite mature yet.
The Xreal air 2 pros do have that technology. He compared the Viture to an older model Xreal. The new model has the electro chromatic darkening lenses.
@@thomasshaver1569 mm this is only en the cover lens , no in the prismatic or screen, because is a a reflection, are tecnologies distincts
What's the cost of each?
They don't have any battery; they take power from whatever you plug them into
@@Antenox but, they can be tethered to a battery.
@@zero11010 Oh, I see, you were talking about battery life in general when using this. Gotcha. Sorry for the misunderstanding
Why the heck wouldn't you mention the Viture app is iOS only?? FFS man. Trying to make an informed decision here.
They need to come up with a wireless connection will be a major upgrade, and also an internal battery...i mean if your guna make something this high tech why not give it all the best features...?🤔🤔 its kinda pointless if you have to stay that close..might as well just look at the actual screen thats much larger
Internal battery simply means more weight on the glasses which will impact you more on long term period
how many refresh rate it has? 300mhz.
Viture is 60 and Xreal 2 is 120.
Google Glass died for social issues. Not technical. Did you solve any of those issues?
What in the World!? Holy smokes
People that wear glasses already:
Size of thing-I-don't-want-to-say-out-loud: "This size."
Yeah there is x real 2 now
PSA: viture ones are small and look better on women or people with smaller heads and the xreal are more tradition ray ban size
Who does a comparison video, but doesn’t actually compare the products side by side 😂
UA-cam 101 bro
Not me getting the xreal for $70.00 and the vulture for $50.00 😅
Eh, neither.
This feels like a virtue commercial. Man everyone is playing an angle.
1:38 Imagine being anti-consumer by supporting a PROPRIETARY connecter vs USB-C.
👎👎👎🤣🤣🤣
Xreal just launched their PRO editions last week tho, I’m thinking of sending back my Xreal Beam and replace it with a Pro
OMG, stop putting out bad information. The Viture comes WITH 3DoF without needing an external device like Xreal's Beam device. The Viture DOES have a mobile device. It has the neckband which you can wear around your neck and is much more elegant a solution than the Beam.
Another video like thousands out there. Hey man, can you expand it to something like software development using these glasses? This would be different and would share very important info about the product.
I have the same question. Have you find something?
@@3web3 no, sadly I have not. All the videos on this matter are the same. I reached out some creators (as I did here, but in a more polite manner than this one), some said that would look on it but nothing till now.
@@ThugLifeModafocah....have you had any luck finding a good video for software development. I have no interest in the gaming aspect that everyone seems to review but need these to partially take the place of sitting in a chair at a desk all day. I have been looking a zero gravity workstations but these are unbelievably expensive and was hoping something like this would be a sufficient replacement. I would just like to know if these are being used by anyone strictly for work purposes and how they are when you are looking at text and multiple monitors for hours on end. I also wear glasses to see at distance but don't use them when I am at my desk for work so not sure if I would even need to prescription inserts.
@@sb6450 my needs is exactly like yours, including the zero gravity thing. Sadly, zero info about this. Some video creators answered me saying they would check but then, nothing. I got a response once from another viewer saying that text in these glasses is not so good. So, no lucky so far. I guess that we gonna need to wait apple vision pro to get launched to have something usable (I really believe that it will be awesome to development). It will be expensive, but at least not so expensive as zero gravity chairs.
Or you know you can just get the xreal beam
You guys are like 2 years too late.
Xreal Air 2 says hi.
🤣🤣🤣
The quest 2 has three settings IPD 58mm, 63mm, and 68mm. The quest 3 has a IPD setting with a range of 58mm - 71mm. I hope all the AR/Display glasses brands read this!
Who was the person at CNET that forgot that Xreal Air 2 just came out? This is such a wasteful video.
Xreal Air 2 is literally the same as Air 1, if not worse...
Imagine how bad that is for your’re eyesight only a inch from your retina
Wow thank god an expert on the biology of the human eye chimed into the discussion, can you explain why this is bad for our eyes? Or are you just imagining?
can people see that your watching something?
Sadly VITURE is a horrible company to deal with - they have no devices to ship, charge your credit card and then do not ship your order. No matter when you ask about your order it is the same answer - next week.
No talk of image quality, no ps5 testing. This guy sucks
