So I’m a truck driver and i specialize in transporting equipment trucks from A to B all the time. I’ve been using my N/Xreal glasses for over a year and half with Samsung dex. I have a folding keyboard with a track pad that I carry. With as much as i’m on planes, in airport bars to grab a bite, hotels, and the trucks i’m transporting. I absolutely love the setup. i even run ubuntu, and kali on my phone to tinker on different things. Or remote into a raspberry back home using realVNC through dex. Also, playing call of duty mobile is game changing. Oh, i also made a routine to reconnect my BT earbuds after i plug the glasses into the phone.
This is where they totaly make sense!! Places where you generally don't have the space to drop down a monitor.
this is the reason why i don't use apple. they never empower people like us.
@@scott53128 I’d say the reason it makes sense is for the fact it’s a reasonably powerful system dex with 200 inch display and compact enough that there’s no reason not to take it with you I even carry a small 8bit controller and play emulator when I have free time you can also connect it to hand held like steam deck and rog ally it makes going to a friends house for local play much easier everything fits in a 2 liter crossbody bag
This man living in 2034 lol
Yo it was my dream job, driving truck while playing cod mobile
"What does your daddy do?" "I don't know, he just wears sunglasses indoors and sits staring at the wall. He keeps writing with a keyboard something that no one can see. He says it is his job."
Nah, my son is pretty clued on. I explained to him what it was and where the screen was, and he understood immediately.
Thank you for not putting a ticky annoying beat under your video
I am loving the progress in this technology! I really think this is the future, no more tablets, laptops, monitors, phones, tvs etc… just a very lightweight comfy pair of glasses.
Until :
1. Data input is just as fast as touch typers can do, and
2. communication and navigation can be done both silently, discretely and efficienctly and FAST we'll still have laptops and desktops.
Also programming CAD design etc FOR these products to even exit can't be done on such new devices ;)
@@deepin2uthe problems you mention will eventually be sorted out. Lidar tech enables proper tracking and placement of virtual objects in the scene. To me the main hurdle before those glasses become truly convenient for use is battery life, because lightweight device inevitably means small battery.
@@deepin2u LLMs are doing amazing things with voice input and they can structure that input however. ChatGPT is INSANELY good. Just go and talk into the text box with their voice input. It is so good.
You are talking like you threw away your keyboard and mouse....kb mouse and glasses....I already use a trackball
Yup, processing will be centralized to one device with peripheral connections, wirelessly. Then you throw in a personalized AI attendant and now you have an interactive companion who will be able to do things on your phone for you. This is not that far off and soon things are really going to accelerate
It won't ever replace PC. It's not a PC it's mobile in AR, and it won't replace TV because on mobile, you don't get free access to channels, and it could replace tablets except for 1 little thing which is note taking and digital art you could do air writing but it's not as convinent as writing on canvas unless they could make it in such way where you could bring it down on a flat surface. I see it replacing tablets, maybe TV, but never PC. Nothing could replace PC or smartphones because smartphones can't ever be better than PC and PC can't ever best smartphones.
Watching this in Dex Mode on the Xreal Pro 2 AR glasses. Love it. 😊
Sweet
How's the delay?.. This looks so cool but..
I am worried about it so much lol
Wireless 30hz is not my thing.
but a wire.. Maaan
"a little more inconspicuously than potentially bringing a laptop" sitting in a coffee shop with your future tech typing on a keyboard with no screen, a cable hanging off your head and sunglasses on indoors xD very inconspicuous! Great review though haha
My man Daniel on the cutting edge of real world use and tech for Samsung as always!
always a pleasure learning.
I guess THIS is a precursor to Samsungs upcoming XR glasses right?
Trust me the next wave isn't just XR glasses and sleek design and power effiency and camera quality and immersion.
Its in communication!
silent communication via ASL!
I got my xreal 1s on watching this! The technology really exceeds my expectations. I went grocery shopping with them on while a movie was running, 2024 is really the future
Extremely sorry for this comment , but they don't look ordinary glasses at all from the very first moment
They remind me of "fitovers," essentially a larger pair of sunglasses that fit over a pair of prescription eyeglasses. I've used these for years to avoid having a separate pair of prescription sunglasses to have to lug around. This, with the needed imbedded tech, make them a little bulkier, but not like wearing a pair of AR goggles 😂
Why would you be sorry for saying this? I think they look stupid. It’s a valid reason not to buy them.
It's probably Nah for me. That's why you have tv or computer for. Thanks for your video.
@@PollyDollyBabe I think the idea of augmented reality is great and has a variety of use cases, but they have to look normal 🤔
I think your comment is valid. They look dumb
Great video! Thanks for checking us out 😎
ive been using samsung dex and the air pro 2 since it came out, its the best on a plane. I take my old fold 3 filled to the brim with movies\plex with me traveling too. I use a small bluetooth keyboard with touchpad to my main fold 5 with teamviewer/splashtop/ google remote to work remotely when I travel overseas.
Put the cover over the front when you are in the airport and people think you are blind and leave you alone FYI.
Also the beam sucks ass and gets hot in the plane and I thought it was going to explode, it kept shutting itsself off just watching movies....
The blind thing Is absolutely true and I love it! People just leave you alone! Because nobody bothers a blind person
I have a Rayneo Air 2, and I use it with my Galaxy S24 Ultra and Dex. It's fantastic for movies, games, and retro emulators. You only need to connect a Bluetooth controller, and you can turn the Samsung Display off. Just press the Power Button and enjoy!
Thank you for the tip. I have the same phone. Did you need to buy any extras or just the glasses?
@steveday2022 Just the AR glasses, nothing else!
@@steveday2022 you don’t need to but the xreal beam is a great addition it lets the glasses utilize the sensors for a better AR experience as well as type c splitter if you need to charge while using the glasses
@@modar9524the beam can't be charged while used, right?
@@joostbakker I tend to see it being charged off of my Samsung devices so long as you can provide it with video and power then yes you can
As aperson who uses multi focal lenses, I need a video review with more detail on prescription glasses.
They have prescription inserts you can add
This is still in it's infancy. But good progress. We always need early adopters for this kind of stuff. I see the future for this as it's in the glass, it will be in prescription glasses. The next iteration will be contacts and contact lenses for sure.
Bro how did you film the screen inside? Lol I had so much trouble filming inside. The only video that covers Dex with xreal.
Macro camera with his S24 Ultra
Used the Ultrawide on the S23 Ultra bro! It can act as a macro camera
He used the force ... the Scuteri force ;)
Glad you mentioned the reason for using for dex.Because at first i was thinking what the purpose was Dont get me wrong love Dex but now from watching i get it. Thanks so much for sharing Enjoyed. 💯✌️
I used these types of glasses with my Samsung DeX on the train when traveling. It beats bringing around a laptop as long as you bring a keyboard and mouse device. Far more convenient because you always have your phone with you.
Hey, I'm not sure about this, but some people used to say that watching TV too close can give you glasses.
It’s the opposite now: watching glasses really close can give you TV
@@BorjaOjeda 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I will say that I've felt a bit of eye strain at times. I had my gf try them on and she said noticed the extra strain within a minute and coincidentally referenced the feeling of watching a TV too close.
I lower the screen brightness whenver possible and that seems to minimize the eye strain feeling. I try to avoid high brightness mode by using it with the lens at the dark setting. I'll switch the lens to transparent to take a break and look at other things in the distance. Using it while the lens is transparent requires the screen brightness to be turned up a good amount.
The eye strain is the same feeling when fixated on your phone screen for extended periods. But while using the phone screen, its a lot easier to look up and around to give your eyes intermittent breaks.
that was always a myth
That's a pretty fair concern! We understand. Our AR glasses have been tested and certified Low Blue Light and Flicker Free, however we do encourage taking breaks between use.
And what about your eyes? How does it feel ? Are you tired ? Would eyesight deteriorate after year or two ? I use monitor for 35 years and don't waer any corrective glasses..
The older version (nreal, before xreal) is slightly nicer imo, but they feel bulkier than new version. I enjoy mine a lot.
My late wife used to admonish me "Bob! You've got your face buried in your phone again!" With the Xreal, she'd be yanking them off my face to see if I was asleep! 😉
I also use Dex so this was a good video to explore more use cases for that paired with my glasses
Legit love my Xreal glasses. Definitely not perfect but a good enough experience for me to enjoy
The fact that most people use samsung dex for xreal glasses as primary driver states the limitation of the software an application. Threads from users on reddit can be found that xreal is more hardware than software focused. Beware and tamper expectations when considering this product as competitors have focused more attention on software supporting. FOV does not really allow for virtual monitor support. However, great for media consumption.
I would definitely argue that using DeX this was is in the complete minority.
Most use it with a monitor, on a TV or on the device in the case of a Galaxy Tab
Do not get xreals. The screens are positioned too high, and your eyes will strain looking up. You cannot fix this by adjusting because the projector screen is only on the upper half of the glasses. The software is also lacking. You can’t even adjust the screen’s position digitally unless you get the dumb beam, which is about as useful as a 10 year old android phone. When you do adjust it using the beam, it gets cutoff because again, the projector screen only exists on the upper half of the glasses. It’s also hard to see through the glasses because too many rims, one from the projector screen and one from the glasses. It’s like you’re wearing two glasses. You are paying $500 for a prototype. Do not buy this thing. Wait a couple more years or more.
sounds like you don't know how to adjust it properly
either that or your face shape doesn't fit the majority of people this was designed for
Mine are fine for me. I chose the correct nose guards and I like the fact I can look down and see what's in front of me while watching something without having to fully take off the glasses.
The bigger Nose guard accessory corrects for this
Also there's a xBeam app for android..
It completely replaces the xBeam. So you just need one device, one cable, connect direct to Glasses. Still has all the xbeam features like all the display modes, but with superior software running on superior hardware. Even allowing support for more xbeam apps & 3rd party VR apps! Overall solid product
Same, I sold it after 1 week😂😂😂 Bad position Bad Xreal Airplay and wireless is not good
Thanks for this video! Happy to see there is still progress with AR! Maybe we can collab one day!
Is it really practical when talking about reading and getting work done ?
Regardless of the media consumption
Great review but one question. .. can they be worn over the top of prescription glasses?
as someone who bought into the NReal experiance with both Dex and Ipad I will be honest in that I cant use it for something as simple as bg3 because it makes me nauseated. Its cool for travelling on like a plane but trying to use them for navigation while riding a bike also made me kind of dizzy as does occulus if the game is fun with movement. It is cool and I loved using it on the plane but I always choose a large tv or a computer monitor to get the best dex experience if honest. If like in a shared space environment/barracks etc. I imagine best investment ever but if you got screens easier to multi task
YOU DID WHAT I WAS PLANNING TO BUY, THANK YOU
I've been saying this for years. Once AR is ready and the world catches on about it, everything changes. No more TV's, computer monitors, movie theaters, home wall furnishings, etc needed. If it is something you can see, you can see it through AR glasses. No more need for bulky VR headsets. Headphones can be replaced and more. You can sit in your empty (if you'd like) living room in a comfy chair. Have a side desk for holding drinks and such. And enjoy all your visual products inside your glasses. With hand tracking, you can ditch physical keyboards and touch screens, mice/touch pads for mere plastic props. Costs can plumet when you exchange all the expensive electronics for a set of AR glasses. I suppose even stay-cations become vastly more potential choices when you can tour the world at home through your glasses. When AR catches on, it could almost destroy the whole electronics department in a general super store.
No
I love your vision, I see what your seeing but no.
I have just the right balance of 65" TV at 4 meters and 14.6" tablet at 0.5 meters. In between I have large windows where the dappled light filters through the large trees that cover my block and the birds stand at the windows and look in. I don't want this recreated in a vr headset but I do want a vr headset.
pair this with a stick size pc and you would technically have a wearable PC.
A stick pc? Bro do you not realise high end phones nowadays come with 16GB ram + Exynos/Snapdragon chips and Samsung DeX and you already have one in your pocket... Even just thinking about running a SoC(Stick pc😂😂) on this when i have a z fold 512gb in my pocket is truly insane
@@Bz0Gaming yeah sure, but people still use PC for work. Last I check, you still can't run Microsoft Access on high end smartphone.
@@wahidpawana424 you can run your own code on a rooted android, so essentially anything you want so im unsure what you mean there when you say android isnt capable
@Bz0Gaming what is wrong with you? Go and bother someone else.
Good review, I'm considering my first purchase of these types of glasses. I see it's been 5 months since you posted this review, do you still use these glasses as much as you thought you would?
how do you feel it would affect your vison over long term use?
The beam is kinda meh but xreal and dex is really nice been using it for 6 months and rly enjoy it. Only thing the cable broke abit fast sol had too replace
Great video Daniel!! Quick question where did you buy the usb hub to charge your phone?
There's a link in description
Dont get if you have prescription glasses. The arm to adjust around the ear is not good. Some devices outside samsung need converting cables hdmi-usbc. Minihdmi-normal hdmi- usbc. Please understand what your device is using.
Keeping tray table clutter free on your flight is such a first world problem 😂
Yes this is my dream come true
I love Dex so much and i want to use it outside
I wanted to try this, but DeX is still trash for ppt or Excel. It's great fot word processing, but that's just not something I do.
Once windows on ARM machind starts going mobile though, this will become my main device.
Put Linux on your phone.
Im excited to where technology is heading
Ability to secretly watch porn anywhere without anyone knowing?
for me it is only the begining of Glasses Tech.
Next are only one glasse level. not two.
attach mini cameras (on usb-c) to each side of the glasses and be able to choose a real visual contribution such as reducing the light, or using them in the dark (with increased brightness) better by adding Thermal/Infrared to see in the dark
Gosh! I just got the Meta Quest 3 and now I feel I should have gotten this one instead. 🤦🏻♀️ I'm on the run constantly, because I'm a flight attendant, so , I think this should have been more convenient. 😕 When do you think anyone should get one or the other? You should do a video about it. 😉
the beam pro + ULTRA would make it near the premium price but the media device you get is just epic a smart phone style device and motion tracking from the Air 2 ultra
this is very tempting tech over another HDR monitor that most lilkey will still suck
I really enjoyed your very informative you tube video. Super helpful
Those glasses need a white cane accessory.
a.k.a. wifi antenna ? 😹
Lol- my gf always has to make a comment whenever she sees me typing and clicking away while looking slightly upwards when I have mine on. It does look amusing now that i see what it looks like!
Utility while in a plane has definitely been the number one use case for me since I typically fly at least once a month. Also more convenient than trying to work off a laptop screen while in a car (e.g. in a parking lot while everyone else goes into Costco!). In the long run, better than being hunched over a laptop or phone for hours!
Nope
Look like freakin bono or my grans cattarach glasses
Awesome video as always, really excited to look in to getting glasses like those xreal, what earbuds did you use in the plane?😎
Great review, I'm wondering about things like battery life, what resolution it gives, how it could be used by someone who needs prescription lenses. Also I think you forgot to include the link to Xreal in your description, or at least I can't find it at the time I'm commenting (since this vid is brand new, maybe you haven't yet added the link and I'm commenting too soon :)
The glasses are 1080p OLED panels and can run up to 120hz and 400nits brightness.
In terms of battery life, if you're not using the Beam for power then they take power from the connected device and you can buy a USB C splitter adaptor (called xreal hub adaptor) which allows video out and power in up to 45w which is what I use with my Steam Deck.
I could swear this is some 2050 tech we'll see commonly used by the time we're all older.
I connected the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to the Samsung S23 Ultra, and then I used the desk through the beam wireless soooo cable-free.
Not sure how they'd work if you wear glasses
I wear glasses and I'm curious too. I suspect you can see the projected image well - by adjusting it's diopter. But I guess you probably can't use the pass-through capability if you are short-sighted.
They have a prescription insert that connects to the nose bridge.
When you get the prescription inserts, is it distance or reading you use?
Distance
I would be curious to see if they have accessories for those of us with glasses and bifocals.
Sure do! Our AR glasses come with prescription lens inserts.
did you get your IPad Pro with macOS back ?? Mr Jobs assume that was you. Tempted to get these how is it for say if you wanted to switch devices, like say kvm setup? What’s the difference between the air 2 pro and ultras?
yeah that technology needs to be wireless, it just doesn't make much sense on a cable. equip it with some wireless hdmi or some other protocol.
Great review. Hope to see comparison with Venture Pro XR from your perspective.
Driving in traffic will never be a pain in the ass ever again 🎉 🎉 🎉
Being able to stay up-to-date on all my shows while being on the move 😌
😅
I want this to work, but had to return mine. The image is too high and can’t be controlled enough, since the screen is only half the lenses. So you will forever be trying to look up higher to raise the image with your neck, rather than digitally. Secondly, if you are used to decent screens, like OLED or hi res MacBook, you’ll be dissapointed with the resolution and brightness. It’s more of a ghost of a movie. Fine for some uselsss Netflix show I guess, but not technical or detailed YT videos. The resolution is just not there. This is a prototype sadly. I hope they succeed.
the resolution is 1080p, while that isn't insane, if you're saying it's "ghost of a movie" it's probably simply not dark enough. the newer glasses have electrochromic dimming, but really the glasses are kinda not so much meant to be used in the bright light outdoors simply because the amount of ambient light makes any projector style image have to compete with the ambient light. there's not really many ways around this from a technical standpoint without like beaming lasers into your eyes (obviously bad for your eyes)
Did you know just about every manufacturer makes a laptop in 4k which is a higher resolution than a Mac laptop so technically the friut laptop is low resolution, not high resolution. What an amazing advertising company they are.
Aren't the nose bridges bendable to adjust? Saw that in another video on these.
Hey Danial. I've been trying to use the live camera option when finding my smarttag 2, but I cannot find that option. I asked Samsung why, and they said it doesn't exist in Australia. However, I saw you using it in the review of the smarttag 2, so I'm confused. Do you have any issues with it now? Is there a way to fix it? Thanks
When can I expect too be able to purchase in Canada? As of right now there is no shipping option?
Also there are a lot of scammers sites out there trying to get your money be aware. 😉👍
for the trackpad, when you plug in your phone that has dex (on newer versions of android) it shows a small white square bottom left on your phone's screen.. you click that and it brings up the touchpad. I know, it's stupidly unintuitive.old dex had an option tile/app notification type option you could press (like an application notification message). (edit: bottom left not bottom right)
Thank you. I know how to bring up the trackpad for DeX. The problem I had was that I would run over the trackpad and it wasn't registering on the UI.
I've since tried again and it's working. Must have been a bug
I love your backpack :) where did you get it? whats it called? the blue one.
Thank you!
It's the Nordace Sienna backpack. Great bag and reasonably priced too
I had a big laugh, not out of cynicism, but the case is a large classic Buds Case. That was actually kind of cool to see.
Imagine in next few year, everybody in meeting room using sunglasses black sunglasses like MIB😂😂😂
I'm sold on dex, remote pc/play. Exciting to see in the coming years glasses and accessories like this! People will start to realize these mobile processors are fast enough for 90% of what people want to do.
Do you know if you can still use Dex with the new Beam Pro. Some people have said you can only share your screen but I presume if you can do that you can also link wirelessly with dex. I am using S24 Ultra.
XReal Air 1 has a much better zipup case and is more compatible with more face shapes
downsides are they're a bit thicker and the blackout cover doesn't have light guards
I designed a case for yhe beam so you can keep it's active cooling working while putting it on your waistband or pocket
Interesting stuff
I use Ready For (Motorola version of Dex) and was looking at a lapdock but maybe this would be better.
I steam link from my PC to my phone. Definitely a great experience
I got them and they are really great !!!!❤
What about using a magsafe case for the S24 Ultra and magsafe wireless charger with the phone to extend viewing time with these?
I think when you launch decks wirelessly, it actually sends the link to utilize the trackpad via notifications if I remember correctly.
It does, it wouldn't work the first time I tried it. I've tried it since and it works. So it's a great solution
Can the lens change to your eye strength? that would be handy
My Meta Ray Bans do all that but has an optical mouse and actually look good
What about who uses prescription glasses? Are they compatible with these?
A bit hard to follow, maybe slow down an annunciate. Also, I didn't know what the item was prior to viewing, it was over 3 minutes in before that was explained.
Would like you review other XR glasses like the Viture Pro as well.
I have a crazy question. I thought apps on Samsung used to make separate sounds but now I can't find it anywhere. My reminders now make the same sound as every notification
I really wanted to buy these. But what stoping me is the position on the face. I never wore glasses so high up on the nose. That’s just weird. It’s either make a headset or if you go for glasses, look how people wear it and try to put projectors accordingly
Wouldn't it be better to buy the air 2 ultra? It's my understanding that they don't need the Beem to keep the screens fixed and locked? Without needing the Beem, the price is about the same, and you have less to lug around and plug in.
Can you adjust the screen position/size using just your samsung phone? I thought those are compatible so that u can use the phone instead of the beam
Dork fashion and technology rolled into one. 👍
Does it good while drving with google map or applecarplay?
My only complaint.....the amount of heat the give off is a bit much.
Im thinking of bringing a windows gaming laptop when travelling, attach 4 of these with ps5 controllers to play FIFA 24 with them 😁, that would be coolest thing ever. or even mortal combat😁. but im sure plane power plugs don't support 180 watts
How many screens could I get Dex to push to? Could I connect my S24 ultra up to both a projector and touchscreen monitor (probably needing a dock I'd imagine) in a way that I could live annotate a PDF being projected?
Some free high quality asmr✌️ always plus 1
Looks very cool
And amazing tech but do these glasses work comfortably on people with migraines
What do you do with these if you have a vision prescription?
I wish to know if watching movies with the glasses requires that the phone remains on or it can be turned off
Samsung dex and the main screen are independent of each other.
Your son has got football taste 👊
I didn't know that anybody actually used Samsung Dex
I wish someone would have something like this but with a video camera
Ray Bans Meta
I'm legally blind in my right eye. Does this affect what side the screen is on? I wonder.
So how do they compare to a VR Headset for watching 3D and VR content and gaming? I suppose the limitation would be the computing power of the phone...
They're VERY different. I don't know if they support head tracking - so most VR stuff is out. The 3d viewing? Sure - fairly large screen --- but it's a floating screen in front of you - not a full vision mode like VR. Note the comments saying the screen image is "too high" --- it's half the lens - the bottom remains clear. The sides leak light.
They work. For 3d movies? With the proper player and everything? Sure.
But they aren't immersive.
Nice vid man
Can you use a type c bluetooth adapter that sends the signal from your cell phone to the glasses?
XREAL BEAM Needed/required for phones S23 or S24....?
I have the S23 Ultra and the Beam. You do not need the beam for these glasses to work. As said in the video, the Beam just unlocks that stable positioning. just think of the glasses by themselves as a computer monitor. as long a you have a device that supports Display and power over USBC they'll work.
@@chinesecheeunit For pointing devices preferred BT mouse & BT keyboard, and most comfortable to use, correct? I have Galaxy S23 FE should work with this, and any smart glasses that's also, true?
@@lse123polis For bt keyboard and mouse, honestly it depends on what you want to do. I only watch mostly UA-cam so I don't ever use any accessory because the S23 as a trackpad is more than enough. And yes from what I read online S23 FE supports Dex. only a handful of Samsung devices support Dex. Technically most other Android phones support display over USBC but you'll really want a Dex phone for ideal use. The latest iPhones and iPads with USBC work as well but without Dex and screen off capabilities, they're very limited for on the go usage. I encourage you to take a look at the Xreal subreddit for more details
Would it display UA-cam on the go?
"thanks me" made my day. somethimes one must thank oneself simply too ;) ok
