Love your lists!❤❤❤
Moby Dick by John Bonham.
Bonzo's Montreux by John Bonham
Nirvana drummer needs to be here
@@Charliec-ks3ub Dave Grohl.
Neil Peart didn't learn the drums. The drums learned Neil Peart.
Metronomes calibrate themselves to Neil Peart's drumming.
and to me they should have listed Peart as the GOAT/#1....I've seen Rush live many times, and his drum solos are nothing short of epic
@@artstrutzenberg7197 Agreed -- the top 10 could (should) be Neil Peart solos.
God took him away because he wanted some drum lessons.
@@riverresident4769 Darn tootin'!
I’ll save you some time

Thank you bb 😊
All hail John Henry Bonham❤ R.I.P. my good friend.
Portnoy's solo on Finally Free (Live Scenes from New York) definitely deserves a spot here
Portnoy always seems to be a favourite among the drummers that I know. Of all the big names, I think of him as a, "Drummer's drummer" the most
Unfortunately you have to be a serious drummer/musician to truly/really appreciate Portnoy and Dream Theater. Sadly, some would argue they are too serious or artsy fartsy.
hells yes
I'm very pleased to see "Moby Dick" made it as the number one spot on this list. Bonzo was a beast when it came to drumming. His son, Jason, drums like his dad. Thank you for this list! ❤
Totally agree with Peart and Bonzo at the top. Likely tied, honestly.
Good to see the token shoutouts to jazz drummers, but missing Max Roach here is criminal. Listening to his collabs with Sonny Rollins like Saxophone Colossus are incredible.
Don't forget about Keith Moon
Buddy rich..though he didnt play in a "hard, metal, Classic" band...he would have fit right in. Watch him do the solo on "Caravan". :) much respect
Danny Carey is a human octopus and one of the greatest drummers of all time. Great job WatchMojo.
He inherited Neal’s soul along with his own.
Finally a list honoring
Mitch Mitchell and Carl Palmer!
Thank you for adding ELP to this list. Carl Palmer is in his 70s now and still plays like he's 21. He still pulls off 10 minute solos like it's no big deal. The guy's an absolute machine.
I’m honestly surprised that Hot For Teacher was so low, I would’ve thought it would’ve been at least Top 5 but I’d also have added Roger Taylor’s drum solo in Under Pressure, Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan on Beast and the Harlot, Mike Portnoy on Metropolis Part 1: The Miracle & the Sleeper, Tré Cool on Burnout, Nick Mason on Run Like Hell, Tim Alexander on John the Fisherman, Gavin Harrison on Anesthetize or John Dolmayan on Chop Suey!
“Danny Carey is even more impressive when you learn he only has two arms.”
- someone else’s quote
What about Ian Piace playing The Mule or any Purple song?? The man deserves more recognition
My #1 Drum Solo is
Moby Dick
John Bonzo Bonham
My mom and aunts would troll my uncle with “Wipe out” back in the day. 😂 He was the drummer of this small time band that held gigs every Wednesday night at the same bar downtown. My mom and aunts would be there to support every performance… and leave a request for “Wipe Out” once the hour for requests started. He loved the song but hated playing it lmao.
I'm glad to see Golden Earring on the list. The band is one of the most underrated rock bands. They made over a 25 studio albums worth to dive in.
Agree totally best band out of europe .made me a rock n roller after i saw them in 1972 in Zweibrucken Germany.
A few amendments..
Frankenstein was technically a drum duet with Chuck Ruff on the drum kit and Edgar Winter on the timbales and cowbell. The live clips of Wipeout feature Ron Wilson trading solos with Max Weinberg (from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band).
Because Rush is Canadian, the zed in the song YYZ is pronounced zed, not Zee.
Drum solo's should tell a story, and no one told a story like "The Professor" on a kit.
Another one that could have made the list, but not an obvious one, is Midnight Oil's "Power And The Passion" with its chaotic mix of acoustic and electronic drums.
19:50 It's pronounced "YY-Zed" (not "Zee") as Rush is Canadian.
UK English as well, and probably most countries outside the US where real English is used!
Insider tip: Reverse the letters with the #12 selection song title (GFR). This was no accident back 50+ years ago!!!
Keith Moon's preforming A Quick One While He's Away at The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus
Amazing
Shelia E. Sign O The Times Concert Movie. Hands down the best in existence. She is who made me want a be a drummer in the first place.
Terry Bozzio of UK & Missing Persons,
Stewart Copeland of The Police,
Carter Beauford of Dave Matthews Band,
Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick,
Phil Collins of Genesis,
Dave Grohl of Nirvana,
Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater,
Jeff Porcaro of Toto,
to name a few left out of Mojo's list.....lol
This! I would have expected a mention of Bozio, eg in The Black Page with Zappa
Daney Carey = brilliance ❤
Can I put in a word for Ian Paice's playing on 'Burn'? That whole song is basically a drum solo.
One that rarely, if ever gets mentioned is Barriemore Barlow's drum solo near the beginning of the second part of Thick as a Brick.
It may be one of the simpler ones but I love the epic at the end of Ina-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly in 1968. I hope this is at least an honorable mention. Thank you for featuring this. I stand corrected. This was a great pick at #10. A glam rock drummer who is overlooked is Rikki Rockett of Poison. His speed and accuracy on the bands Swallow this Live LP is jaw-dropping!
Honorable mention: Joe Morello, Castilian Drums, from the Dave Brubeck Quartet at Carnegie Hall album. It's an 8-9 minute solo, all in 5/4. If you're not familiar with it, give it a listen.
Thanx for the Soul Sacrifice and Frankenstein nods - YO! 🥁☮
As for Danny's drumming you forgot Pneuma.
He killed it in INVINCIBLE
Achilles, agony and ecstasy has a super underrated drum solo, that Hi hat section Is great
What about 100 000 years from the Kiss Alive album 😮 the drum solo is beautiful
"Beating his kit like it owes him money." Brilliant!
My all time favorite is Neil Peart's "Der Trommler" from Rush's R30 concert.
I was at Cobo Arena watching Jimi Hendrix ... he blew an Amp... both bass and drummer went into a battle of the bands while they put a new pre-amp ... it truly show how great his whole band really was!
My fav solo is the one that Benson did in Regular Show. Although other instruments were used, it's great.
I love drum solo they are amazing music instrument we love to listen
Honorable mention...Robb Reiner on "White Rhino".
Having "Fire" on here is a pleasant surprise. People tend to only mention Hendrix's virtuosity and neglect the others.
Moon, Bonham, baker, watts and rich were the goats 👊😎
Thx for being honest with us, man. Keep on being faithful to what He’s called you to, and don’t give up. Will be looking forward to your single week videos. See you then.
Cool list! What about Sing, Sing Sing or anything by Roger Taylor or Cozy Powell?!
Yes' song "release release" has a not so famous drum solo but White makes a tom fill going from the low one to the high one, which we don't hear that often.
In a Gadda Da Vida, by Iron Butterfly. My dad had the album and he drove me to learn that drum solo and to play it in the dark. I still have the album. It is dusty except for the part of the album that has the drum solo. That part of the album is clean from being played repeatedly.
Peter Criss's 100,000 years drum solo on kiss alive is amazing in my opinion
I’m thinking they’re confusing some fills with “solos”.
Joe Morello on "Take 5" (1959) and Bill Bruford on "Indiscipline" (1981)
Danny carey is the man! ❤
Love your work!😊😊😊
Bot
Power and the Passion Midnight Oil
Rob Hirst plays on a fucking culvert pipe. Such a criminally overlooked band.
I LOVE how he mixes the Simmons in that tune.
You want an IMMEDIATE click from me? Put Neil Peart in the thumbnail. Well done.
I hope Tim Alexander makes this list. Over The Electric Grapevine is one of the greatest drum parts ever
Also, the outro of Southbound Pachyderm.
I would have personally put Pneuma in place of Forty Six and 2
That's why they used the drummer cam from 'Pneuma' and palmed it off as Forty Six and 2.... Proof that these idiots are the lowest form of life.
Here's an idea for a video, the longest songs that are ever played, here's a mini list: iron butterfly in a gadda da vida and Bohemian Rhapsody by queen, hope you like the idea I might use in an able to find other really long songs
It's not rock, it's swing, but Gene Krupa's "Sing, Sing, Sing". If you've never heard it check it out.
OH LETS GO! 💯💥🥁
between the buried and me - error fix
this song has some great drum solo's
The who happy jack and stone roses elephant, those two songs drum solos are masterclass 👌
Uno muy influyente que faltó es "See you in my drum" del gran Tony Meehan, de los "Shadows". Este solo fue escuela para muchos bateristas de los 60s y 70s.
A better title for this would’ve been Best Drum Performances. Drum solos are a different extended solo performance.
Agreed! Intros, fills and outros aren't solos! Hot for Teacher has an intro, not a solo and it's only a few identical measures! Solos are when only one person is playing for more than a few measures!
And these people missed out on an actual drum solo in Chicago's version of "I'm A Man"...
A relatively decent compilation. Suggestion: There should be separate lists for Jazz drummers & Rock drummers. Also: It's unthinkable to leave out "Hocus Pocus" by Focus with those amazing smoking hot drum breaks by drummer Pierre Van der Linden.
I know this probably isn't in the category they're talking about, but my favorite is Charly Antolini's drum solo while performing Caravan
I hope this is a Frank Zappa reference 😊
Peter Criss' solo on Alive's "100,000 Years" is a tour de-force and should be acknowledged as such.
Flo Mournier's solo on Cryptopsy's Phobophile
Wipe out is the first song I played in public
The one that is missing from this list is Danmy Seraphine's performance on Chicago 2 during james Pankow's Ballet for A Girl . Also where is Jeff Porcaro from Toto?
My favorite is from _Ritual/Nous Sommes du Soleil_ by Yes.
She pronounced Peart correctly. List is legit lol
Mick Tucker - Man With The Golden Arm...come on!
Melvins/Tool: "Divorced" I love the duel between Danny Carey & Dale Crover
The Tea Party's "Save Me"
How about Steely Dan’s Aja from Steve Gadd?
Sheila E. On David Letterman in a skirt and heels. Should have been in the top 5, Just saying.
"Applied Science (Live)" by 311.
I’d put Art Blakey before Cozy Cole. Also, no Black Page? Terry Bozzio?
Neil pleat he drum was mad brilliant
Rob Hirst's solo on Power And The Passion by Midnight Oil deserves to be on here.
I agree that the Oils drummer does deserve an honourable mention mind you they we're covering a lot of genres in this video. Van Halen's tracks might have been short but continuing through out 7 albums that I know of with Hot For Teacher as there pioneering track .
Wiithout Ian Paice's any drum solo, this list is just ridiculous... Cozy Cole and Buddy Rich (brilliant drummers btw) should have been put in jazz category.
How could you forget. Tommy Lee motley crew Roller coaster drum solo greatest drum show in Rock history!!!!!😲😲😲
Sandy Nelson's Let There Be Drums should be on the list
"The Mule" from Ian Paice of Deep Purple is missing
Buddy Rich, John Bonham. then the all others. These guys are light years above the ones featured in this video
I believe this should be re-titled Top 20 ROCK drum solos. With the exception of Topsy and arguably West Side Story there are no jazz solos here. Two lists would make more sense.... Joe Morello, Gene Krupa, Max Roach, Dennis Chambers, Louie Bellson, Sam Woodyard.... well you get the idea.
Is there a list of more technical drum solos? I think this list would be better described as "most iconic"
Thank-you for saying Neil Peart right Phoebe 😀
The Black Page; Zappa, Terry Bozzio!
That Japanese girl who wears the apple mascot costume should be here
Manowar - fuck yeah! 🤘🏻⚔️❤️🔥
The best drum solos Carl Palmer
Moon was just otherworldly...
Oh c'mon....the solo from "I Burn For You" live, by Omar Hakeen deserve be here
“There is no fuckin drummer better then Neil Peart” - Chester Cheetah
Steve gadd-Aja drum solo?
Don't know why this isn't on the list...
Holy crap the ads here mojo. How about a video with maybe 2 ads instead of 1 every other countdown.
Cozy Powell Stargazer
Ventor on the drums, Terrible Certainty
Hot for the Teacher
Sing, Sing, Sing definitely deserved a spot here. 😢
Shocked that Neil Peart (RIP) from Rush was not on this list, considered by many the best drummer in the world, period.
