This channel is incredibly underrated dude, the editing is absolutely outstanding, the attitude and everything is just amazing, I hope one day the drumming world becomes more popular so channels like this can get the attention they deserve :3
Luck number 7 on the likes. But Gabe you absolutely killed it. To incorporate all of these great artist, into one masterpiece is beyond amazing. And this is why you are such a awesome teacher, in the DBO ACADEMY. Make sure you all get on the list everyone. This is my second year in, going on my 3rd. And I love it. Great teacher, staff, and friends, always there to help out. Hope to see you all there.
You're so talented that it's not even fair Gabe. The fact you can still put out great xontent like this aswell as do your thing with I prevail is truly inspirational.
Thanks for the video!! Neal Peart is still one of my all time drummer inspirations. Would’ve been his birthday yesterday had he still been with us. Rest In Peace Neal 🙌🏻
High quality stuff man. Glad i found you. El estepario led me to the rabbit hole now i'm drumeo deep in the ever expanding universe of drum education. Seriously good sound there though. I've seen a lot of good drummers in smaller bands that just can't really nail the the whole solo part. Not being a drummer i always thought a solo was just improvised most times, now l can really appreciate how actual composition can take your work to the next level.
Holy smokes gabe!!!! Definitely one of the best solos I ever heard. You really nailed the key point from other incredible drummers!!!! Kinda looking forward some more these kinda breakdown types videos in the channel or in DBO!
This is one of the greatest breakdown/educational videos I have ever seen for a drummer! Truly masterful playing based on your inspiration from some of the greats!
Great video. One of the best UA-cam drummers online. The quality of your videos, content and playing have all seen significant improvements over the years. Coupled with the fact that you’re a successful working drummer in a massive band - you’re certainly a positive influence to drummers of all levels. Thanks and keep the videos coming.
It's been a while since i discovered this channel and i have to admit this guy is soo damn good at any level...lessons, skills, explanations, entertainment, video editing and of course his drumming is absolutely insane!!! Keep going man!!
Awesome solo Gabe the variety makes it next level . My fav drum solo is Mario Duplantier’s most recent one . Underrated solo is Herb’s from Primus off their first album .
Gabe, your Linear Groove/Chops are Outstanding. You also seem very relaxed when you play. Reminds me of Chad Wackerman.Great solo. As far as Greatest Drum Solos, Buddy Rich, Elvin Jones and Tony Williams. Thanks.
The narrator knows his stuff. He knows what he is talking about and when he compliments a certain drummer , that drummer has earned every word spoken about him in this video.
There are a few moments off time (like left hend ond the snare-Rich) and that is the only little thing for me that is missing for thos solo to be EPIC. You can do it even better and Im waiting for that perfection. Editing in the video is great. Another level. Wish you the best.
Great stuff!!! My favorite solo goes to Coleman, he is my favorite drummer and my mentor. One of my favorite elements of his solo is they’re 100% improved and always different, and him living in the moment. The one thing I would say all these guys have and I believe to be the most important thing is being yourself behind the set. They all have a unique approach and a their own voice that they have explored. What I liked about your solo is you took influence, but we’re not any of them in particular. Your solo felt unique as well. Keep it up 👊🏼
Hey Gabe or any experienced drummer reading this: How do you switch from playing beginner beats and fills (from your own channel) to actually playing a song? I'm curious about the actual process? Do you listen and try to repeat? Do you learn the drum sheets? UA-cam videos (even tho there aren't many song lessons)?
I started off with just listening to the drums of a song and then trying to replicate it to the best of my abilities and then also adding my own touch, try uptown funk by Bruno mars super basic song but by the end part where you have to hit the bell on the ride cymbal and do some fills its super fun to play around in, and also don't stick to one genre hear a song on the radio or on spotify or youtube that you like and want to learn then sit and the drums and just play until you feel confident to play it. I'm no professional this is just my advice. uptown funk has easy to read drum sheets and probably a lot of youtube videos so just have fun with that 😁 hope this helps
Gabe released a video not too long ago (can’t remember which one, sorry 😅), and his process goes something like: -Listen through and map out the song all the way down to the number of measures in the verses, chorus, bridge, etc -Listen to the song and air drum the drum part, so you can hear what’s going on (we tend to play the wrong part sometimes, when we try to transfer to the kit too early) -Play through the song slowly, repping out trouble areas until they’re practically flawless -Play through the song at speed with the original audio until you don’t make any mistakes -Play through the song without the original audio, with only click -You will have the song memorized at this point
When I started playing I took three moths of lessons and stopped about 6 moths later when I was 14 I started playing with a thrash/punk band and we did a lot of covers ( DRI , misfits , old slayer S.O.D ect) and some originals . I could read drum music but there was nothing for drummers in the late 80’s . I just listened and tried to replicate . I got pretty close or close enough with the skill set I had at the time . I’d say it’s prob easier to listen and try to replicate at first then go to the sheets to nail down the details .
So inspiring!! I’ve never been good at solo’ing but this video shows just how many simple options there are that, once built on, can sound awesome, all while being hilariously entertaining! Gonna sit down and practice my one chop until I can play it like Bonham, cheers Gabe!
Wow! You rocked brother! I can't believe how well it went. I mean, don't know much about this world, cause I just started on the drums. And even tho music is my passion since I was a kid and I know few drummers, I'm not ashamed to say I didn't know most of this legends you showed today. So it's fair to say that this is my favorite drum solo of all times!🥰🙏
I don't think your supposed to be causing your students to just give up on drumming. But, W.T.F. your getting incredible while I'm sounding more and more like crap. DARNNNN YOU DRUM SENSEI🤣🤣🤣
Some rules for a drum solo control your breathing (especially when the tempo increases)think about being as musical as possible which doesn't have to be all rudiments and sing while constructing your solo ( in the moment) don't think just create
You are indeed an accomplished drummer, but let's add a great cinematographer and storyteller! I see hints of MakeArtNow in your style. It's difficult to choose just 10 epic drummers, but...take a look at Aron Mellergård from Dirty Loops for dead accuracy drumming.
Sooo good! I usually dont like drum solos because 95% of them aren't creative enough for me to enjoy. But your solo was really creative and well performed 🤗 As for me, I've never done a solo in my 35 years of drumming. I'm just not good enough do do anything intresting. Never have been good enough, never will be.
This is dope. I clicked on this video and thought "better have Moby Dick by Bonham" and it was literally the first one. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he never used a double kick. What a legend.
Buddy Rich’s solo is incredible! I would argue Josh Dun’s Lane Boy solo is awesome, though not top 10. Wish i could have seen you on Friday in MN, but it’s sold out! I’ll see you next time you come to Minnesota for sure! Awesome video as usual
Gabe, I love your videos, but I really want to see one where you make the best solo ever but then still have to shave your brother’s head afterwards. Give these videos some high stakes!
neil peart's sounded the best cus of the melodic aspect ok your solo's epic... i like how you give space in between, cus some drum solos sound way too oversaturated
Absolutely stellar Gabe, haven’t seen all these solos you mentioned but watching yours at the end with the elements of each was a great summary of them all and yours definitely competes with the best of all time! So sick watching your creative abilities come to life. One hell of a teacher and an incredible drummer you are man
What's your favorite drum solo of all time??
Mike Mangini’s crazy solo from around 2004 when I think he was still playing with Extreme.
Josh Dun ride drum solo with just a kick, snare, and crash ride
Greyson nekrutman playing caravan on drumeo, it blew my mind away
Danny Carey - Fear Inoculum. Kindly he let the rest of the band play with him on this 7 track drum solo.
Edit…yours is my favourite now. 😎👍
Tommy Lee's Rollercoaster drum solo!
00:00 - #1 Rock Legend
01:38 - #2 Adding tension
02:54 - #3 Melody
03:41 - #4 “Hit it, Phil!”
04:09 - #5 New sounds
05:38 - #6 Grooves are captivating
06:44 - #7 Be creative
08:13 - #8 A repeating pattern
09:45 - Gabe’s SOLO
12:11 - Did Juan approved?
12:37 - Outro

I really appreciate it! Talent is just putting in the reps on one thing over and over. You’ve got this!
Thanks for the video!!

my dude, that solo was fucking outstanding. you are absolutely sick. I loved this
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it.
Drum solos are a different breed of soloing in my humble opinion. Truly interesting and unique for sure. Cheers man!
Totally agree!
@@DrumBeatsOnline Thanks!
You’ve been taken your videos to another level and it’s amazing!
Thanks so much!

What a dream to be that good at playing the drums! So inspiring. Great video.

Awesome stuff! Gabe you knocked it out of the park! Outstanding!
Awesome solo Gabe the variety makes it next level . My fav drum solo is Mario Duplantier’s most recent one . Underrated solo is Herb’s from Primus off their first album .
True "Super Power Pro-Level" skills, great breakdown, great assembly, sweet delivery.
I salute you!
Excelent Job, great solo and feel!

"How many styles can you play in one solo?"
Gabe: "Yes"
😂
Loved it! Thanks for posting!
What a GREAT UA-cam drum idea! That wasn't only played well, and entertaining, but also informative. Nicely done!
Had a bad day but ur video made it better 👍🏼 thank you Gabe ur a truly inspiration! Badass solo too 🔥
So happy I could help make things a little better for you!
This is an amazing video! i'm watching all your videos one by one and they're incredible
SWEET! Saucy, spicey and wonderfully delicious Thanks for the lesson Gabe!
Using an ostinato and improvising with the hand, using differents chops and polyrythmics groove is also a manner to get a pretty sick solo
Great stuff!!! My favorite solo goes to Coleman, he is my favorite drummer and my mentor. One of my favorite elements of his solo is they’re 100% improved and always different, and him living in the moment.

That was very, very cool. Loved it!
Loved the solo! Where did you find the track?
I thought it was meant to be a drum SOLO you had a backing track lol, you killed it man.
So incredible solo! Well done!
Gabe! You're such a badass drummer! That was a masterpiece!!!
that's why Gabe is one of the greatests. he learns from everything and everyone. to create his own unique style
I'm always a student! The best teachers are the best students.
BRO!!!!!!!!!!!! My Man!!!! This sure was bad ass! Thank you!
That was so incredible. Wow. Just wow. I’m going to watch it again.
I appreciate it!!
Neil will always be my favorite. I can’t play, though I have two kits, but I’ve always dreamed of playing along with Subdivisions or YYZ.
THAT WAS REALLY REALLY EPIC ESPECIALLY THE ADDING YOUR OWN STYLE PART AND THE GROOVE OOOOOOOOOOOOO THAT WAS SICK
such a creative result from those solos!
Just saw you dude! Omaha!!!! Looking forward to the show!!
Great concept great lesson great playing
Its always a good day when Gabe posts
It’s always a good day when Easton comments

Was the backing song your own?
I enjoyed the video a lot, keep up the amazing work man 👌👌👌👌

I love that buddy rich solo!
It’s the first one my dad ever played for me and it got me into drumming!
Always a good day when dbo has a new video
❤️❤️
My favourite drum solo of all time might be Joey Jordison's 2002 drum solo
There's so much wow factor
Amazing!,,,
Amazing
You are amazing
The John Bonham part was easily the best part!
this was legendary
Thanks so much!!
Personally, I think you missed some absolute monsters... Dennis Chambers & Tony Royster Jr.
But they don't use Meinl cymbals 😁 What about Virgil Donati, Mike Mangini, Terry Bozzio, Ian Paice (The Mule)...?
I love your videos
I love you
Great video and amazing job you did on the drums. But one important drummer was missing : TOMMY LEE
Gabe, I love your videos, but I really want to see one where you make the best solo ever but then still have to shave your brother’s head afterwards. Give these videos some high stakes!

Juan carlito mendoza is the absolute best!
