I have a rule, that whenever see an Atlus RPG, I buy it. Even if the game ends up being a stinker, most Atlus RPG's are printed in such low numbers that it will be a collectors item.
Most of these are older titles so I only picked up titles I knew would be good such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. I stopped playing Final Fantasy after XIII but I still play Dragon Quest. Now, I buy games based on who makes them as I love the Atelier games, Kemco Tecmo, and I'll buy almost anything NIS America releases. Atlus is hit or miss with me so I tend to watch reviews first before committing.
The majority of the Games on this list are also only published by Atlus. Rhapsody is a better known Game with a little fanbase and Not so obscured than the Games on this list.
I remember seeing the zoids game mentioned here, and at that time they had it beside the frontmission games, at least the guy laying them out placed them by similar type
Dual Hearts also suffered by coming out at the same time as Kingdom Hearts. It kinda looked like it was trying to ride the coattails of Square's soon-to-be juggernaut

Zoids assault 5:08 is absolutely peanut. I live in Russia and remember playing with my cousin veniamin he bring the peanuts and playing everyday with explosive fart and air suffocate 😂🥜💣
I love Tsugunai: Atonement. It may be rough around the edges, but it has a very original premise and I had fun all the way with the game's unique structure and short little stories. The magic system reminds me of FFVII's Materia and the OST is great too.

I actually found Tsunagi at a pawnshop years ago for $10 and bought Dual Hearts before a mom and pop game store got bought out by gamestop. Wasn't expecting these two to be on the list.
One thing about Tsunagai atoment, while is true that the combat is mostly simple it does have a system of "guards" when you have to press the correct button to properly guard, counter or charge a special meter. Timing depens on enemy, so I feel like it can freshen up things quite a bit! Great vid!
Tsugunai: Atonement is one of the few games that I bought new in the 90's and is still in my collection. It's such an original game that I could never sell it. Definitely not for everyone, but if you love games with a more serious tone, and really original story, then this is a game for you.

Oh nice you actually managed to bring a few to my attention that I wasn't familiar with and actually look pretty good. Funny enough I had just downloaded tsugunai recently because I saw that cool cover.
Another one that is very obsucre is Kowloon High school chronicle, an egypt themed, first person dungeon crawler. It was a ps2 jp exculsive but the switch port got localized. It's still really obscure. I've yet to play it but it looks neat.
I saw that labyrinth one on occasion at a video game store I go to. But it didn't have the original cover so i never thought much about it. Maybe I'll check it out..?

I knew about Zoids through the robot toys. Everything in video is unknown to me I barely brought much JRPGs on PS2. This is why I watch your videos to think about games I could of brought. No further news about SMT5 and remark of SMT3 will be out, Dante is DLC character not sue if will be same on the Switch. I'm busy with Atelier Ryza2.
Dual Hearts is probably the only one out of this list that I own and MAN I wish they had done a sequel to it. Such an interesting game, bit awkward in places, but definitely one of the best titles i've played from them.

Even with some minor issues aside (basically the two you said, minor platforming and camera, and also lock on and load times, which I think were slow even at the time), I still really like the game and wish it had gotten a bit more attention. Of course, it also came out at the same time as Kingdom Hearts 1 so....
In my opinion Compile Heart are the kings of the most obscure JRPGs out there those guys usually solely release fan service on top of fan service and Fairy Fencer f is probably their only kind of normal JRPG with a bit broader market appeal but still with a ton of fan service
No its atlus. Atlus published a ton of weird games that sold nothing all in different sub genres, compile heart just make the same trash over and over and most of their releases are neptunia games. Probably one of the worst RPG developers around, a tumor on the industry.
I got “fairy fencer F” ...... and after i got it people told me it was hard to find - i got most of the way through it but it has glitched out on me... And way back i did have “everquest?” I think it was - i didnt know what a find it was and traded it ! I wish i had it - it is so weird!
I have a few of these and some were on my list to get but changed my mind on them when I looked at the screenshots of the gameplay on the back of the box. I agree on Drone Tactics. I remember seeing it and and thinking how generic it looked. It made me think it was a low budget title.
Wasn't Metal Saga fom Atlus? It's for the PS2, a post apocalyptic mad max scenario, but anime like and with tanks ! There's exploration with your party and boss battles where you can rely on your tanks...or not. It's pretty cool, actually...

I actually love Zoids and I ended up getting assault after a work accident that had me unable to work for 5 months and assault saw me through alot of that time when i wasnt playing my gameboy zoids is hy far one of my favorite series of all time
Yup told you mate, Drone tactics was obscure :'p it is good in my opinion, for the game play it has funny mechanics once you get into harder fights. And has good music too.

I never heard of that Zoids Assault game. I loved that anime series as a kid and even played that brutally difficult Zoids Legends game on gamecube. But Zoid Assault looks really bad.
Well there's some new ones on me. Deep Labyrynth looks different thats for sure. Drone tactics looks like it would be fun but aside from collectors at this point I have to wonder how many people owned or played many of these games when they were released. ATLUS has alaways been interesting to me if not extremely odd. I do love me some ATLUS though.
Drone Tactics looks and plays way more like what I imagine a Zoids game would. So weird of them to release a Zoids game without any of the charm or personality of the franchise.
I own two of the games on this list. It's a shame they aren't that great (SN: Twin Age, and Zoids Assault). They're worth more than I paid for them these days at least!
My favorite Atlus game is legit #10. Alright, we're getting off to a good start lol (Okay honestly I prefer the SMT franchise over Tsugunai, but when I was a kid, Tsugunai was one of the first games I ever played, so I cherish Tsugunai whenever I see it or anything related to it)
@@creaty2852 It was from a second hand seller, the games were cartridge only but in good condition, the seller told me he made the bundle since he had them for months and no customers before had interest those games as they are unknown by most common customers and only Rpg collectors knew the names

I found Zoids Legacy for the GBA to be pretty good. Its story is based around time and space shifts causing the worlds of the three anime series to merge (plus the world of the prequel to this game, Zoids Saga, which was JP only). I'd recommend it if you're a Zoids fan.
Twin Age! I love that game, despite how weird it is. Also, wasn't it developed by flight plan and not atlus? and bandai namco owns the franchise right? Ether way, great JRPG with nice tunes and cool characters (love my boi Aldo!). And yeah, it is boring but still, i love it.
Summon Night huh. I love the series. Twin Age is not as great as the previous titles but I still love it. It is far from repetitive, boring and annoying.

Robopon 2 is pretty weird the story is all over the place and most of the NPCs aree insane, I love it.

Dual Hearts is great it was basically a mix between Mario 64 and a 3D Zelda game. Wow I totally forgot I had played Drone Tactics, it was a fun game!
