The BIG stepping stone on almost EVERY basketball player/dunkers bucket list is dunking with the ball off the dribble. Here is a look at the cross-body arm drive by Tyler Ray aka. Jukebox, former Pro Dunker and current Jump Technique Specialist.
This technique varies for a 1-foot dunk as it requires the ball to be driven off the take-off leg hip. Ie. If you jump left-footed, the ball sweeps from LEFT to RIGHT.

His passion for jumping is infectious and athletes that have worked with him all agree! Here is what a couple athletes had to say about working with Tyler:
Sophie Bukovec (Team Canada Beach Volleyball)
"I'm absolutely shocked at how I was able to gain a couple inches on my jump in just a few short minutes! Tyler definitely knows what he is talking about. What's great is that he really looked at the athletes and fine tuned things that would help the individual rather than just preaching about broader, over-arching techniques that would hopefully fit. I stayed to listen to him speak about jump technique TWICE! I learned so much and I didn't want it to stop!"
This is a really great video💯No one really explains the cross drive from the ball side hip to the hand you are dunking with whether it’s LR or RL plant. I had to learn it on my own but I came here to reteach myself because I lost some mechanics after my knee injury
No LIE BRO AND I HAVE VIDEOS TO PROVE IT. I WATCHED A MINUTE OF THIS VIDEO AND I DUNKED!!!! I’m not being paid to say this I’m dead ass serious.
That helped a lot man 🙏
This was such a great vid! Please can you do another for one foot takeoffs?
Will K yes!
wow i’m a right hander that has a LR plant no wonder i’ve struggled with dunking i’ll get a few in sometimes but never consistent
Loving the videos and consistency, I can see this channel blowing up soon.
Camy Dunks thanks! Fingers crossed 🤞
can you do a video of technique on how to dunk after beating your defender
Thank u
would it be the same with one leg jumps? I reach way higher with those
Great video! Seems like every NBA players plant either LR or RL, never both. The only one I can think of that gathered with either was Kobe.
For basketball players, does it make sense to practice both plant variations?
I work my ball players with both plants as it opens up more game scenario options. Thanks for your comment!
Who tha only person that disliked this vid🤦🤦🤦
Me
What if I'm a left hander that has a RL plant? I see most players do the opposite? It feels really unnatural to do that but i wanna learn how. What's the best way to go about that?
Go play volleyball
I am 6’1, 18 year old. I still can’t dunk basketball, but my main problem is my bad habit. When I jump and try to dunk I can’t reach rim, but I grab net and pull down. My fingers hurt because of pulling net down. I put somehow basketball through rim and pull net. Any tips for solving this problem, maybe I need to focus on something else when I try to dunk?
Same, but I’m 5’11
I've been told that in order to dunk, you should be able to jump and hit bottom half of your palm on the rim (without ball, just running up and jumping). In order to dunk comfortably, you should be able to touch wrist on the rim.
Can't score above the rim, if you can't reach the rim
How do you dunk without the ball in your hands
lil larry no it’s becuase of the title, becuase of course you need a ball to dunk duuh
thanks now i can dunk on 9 ft rim (I'm 5'3)
