fun fact: In Minecraft's code, Desert Wells are in the same generation category as Trees, and not structures. Meaning they'll still show up if you turn structures off.
@@nexaaaaaaa I'd assume because Dungeons actually provide more than a few blocks and flavor. They have spawners and chests with fun and useful loot. They also tend to take up more space than a well or a tree.
@@nexaaaaaaabasically features are things smaller than a chunk and structures are larger than a chunk. Features just have some chance to spawn in every chunk and can’t extend out of the chunk they spawn in since that would cause them to load and generate another chunk and cascade infinitely. In reality the game populates features in chunks offset from the main chunk grid by 8 blocks, so they’re chunks centered between 4 chunks. That way features at the edge can extend past the border and still be in a loaded chunk. Structures instead are effectively scattered across the world and then chunks figure out what parts of the structure they would contain from that. This way the game can generate structures piecemeal without needing to generate the whole thing at once.
How exactly is an infinite lava source useful when the nether exists? There’s already literal oceans of the stuff, and if you try to build a lava farm too close to your village you’ll just screw up your villagers and turn them all into leather workers due to all of the cauldrons.
Nevermind "if." I was there when enchanting and potions were being added, and people had this exact complaint. Now people can't imagine the game without them.
I think it's an issue of people clinging to nostalgia. Minecraft is an incredibly popular game that's been out for a long time, so it's pretty much inevitable that people would react badly to something so iconic from their childhood being different nowadays.
Me crying with relief because a wither skeleton just jumpscared me while I just wanted to go get my funky bluegreen fireproof wood and squishing carpets and that gapple saved my 8 stacks of funky mushroom tree blocks, my one mending elytra, and my "WHERE'S THE WAY HOME???" compass It's like this guy hasn't ever done ANYTHING in minecraft except speedrun.
Not really, es really easy to escape a warden's melee hit, the problem is the sonic-charged range attack, that goes through armor so it always affects your hearts, if you have more than 10 you can survive more sonic charges, with an Enchapple you can get up to 18 hearts, you can resist even 4 sonic charges that way, instead of 2.
Honestly I think the worse part of woodland mansions is just the fact that half the time you find one the entire structure just spontaneously combusts due to some random lava pool nearby or something
that never hapenned to me yet, okay, I only encountered a total of like 4 woodland mansions in my life while playing minecraft which one time was on the nintendo 3ds edition, tho they are quite empty I find and too big to make a base out of it for me alone
JetStarfish's next video: "Minecraft's Trading Problem" At the end of the video, he announces a new paid mod that replaces villagers with migrant workers, and half of their trades are locked until you defeat the Wither.
29:13 "why would anyone want to go out and find a dripstone cave?" REGENERATING LAVA CAULDRONS. Like even if you don't want them for decoration, having REGENERATING LAVA CAULDRONS so you can power your smelters with lava buckets is SUPER FREAKING USEFUL.
@@SamS-zu8up I think OP's point is more targeting people that want to remove or limit blocks, elements, or items that hinder pvp and speedrunning, rather than people who simply want a better experience in that gamemode
@@SamS-zu8upSurvival could use some improvements, but one of the biggest issues with jetstarfish's videos is that he disregards everything that isn't directly tied to progression as useless. I get what you mean but you still can find the ancient city before killing the dragon, the map just makes it easier... Why are shulker boxes "level locked"?
@@TNTsquid.I mean they aren’t. The end islands still exist if you wanna use a flying machine or build thousands of blocks out. Some people have gotten an elytra without killing the dragon for various reasons. You also can find ender chests in end cities if you didn’t bring any so you can leave the end with your loot and shulker boxes/shells whenever you want without beating the dragon.
@@TNTsquid. he specifically said he wants to make it harder to find them without the map. the map makes it easier to find, after he made it harder. heres a neat comparison: if i abduct your child, and then you pay me to get it back, it would also make it easier to find. but you know whats even easier? if i never took it away in the first place. noone really wants shulker boxes to be locked behind the dragon either. My personal gripe with these types of videos is that when the youtuber talks about how "easy" the game is/has become, they are usually talking from the perspective of someone who has been playing for YEARS and knows what they're doing. They don't take into account the possibility that the game could be hard for some people [particularly people new to minecraft] because they do not have the ability to put themselves in other players shoes.
and also you could add hard mods into it, it's not a close off source sandbox games or RPG games it's open source the solution is easy and it's not a problem unless you don't like mods which well tought luck make the games more hard by limiting what you use like instead of getting the best gears I can just use iron armor and weopen all the way and beating the ender dragon using my iron sword and enchanting bows like it's easy to make it hard yourself
I played on the 360 for a bit (didn't have online so it was super vanilla and no updates). Only more recently have I been playing minecraft on PC and actually getting a bunch of stuff. I'm definitely a builder/explorer and I've barely even stepped foot in the nether because I've been so busy with the overworld. Heck, I started my main world several months ago and still haven't finished my house. lol
Genuinely. I've been playing for at least 7 years and i still suck ass at the game (hell I've never once beaten the ender dragon). yes i can recognize that parts of the game have become easier (particularly diamonds), but i personally enjoy those changes. and i know for sure that part of the reason the game feels easier is undeniably due to my own increase in skill throughout the years
I thought sandbox was meant to fit play styles because it is suppose to be box and there’s like sand you interact with. Nope, turns out the casual has discovered professional gate keeping in children game.
He's not complaining about it, he's creating an *optional* mod that makes the game more suitable for players like him. Wtf is your problem with that?! If it's a sandbox game the let him create whatever he want's. That's literally what a sandbox game is for. You're not even forced to play the mod. It's literally up to you. So why are you cplaining about this?

Both in the Video and in the comments everyone is like: "oh, you changed this to that? Obivously not for people who alreaddy are perfectly happy with the game) This reaction Video on the other hand is purely hating.
Its just showing an inconsistency. If minecraft had better ideas not only would they not be as inconsistent and barely useful as most modern features and items are but they'd also not have these vastly different structures with different loot locked behind similar exploration tactics. As most people have said, woodland mansions have maps yet have vastly shittier loot than ancient cities.
@S_-- Maps make woodland mansions easier to find. If you have a cartographer you can buy the map from, you are guaranteed to be able to locate a mansion. Ancient cities require you searching more extensively even if they are more common. Woodland mansions are also significantly safer to loot than ancient cities are, though neither of them are particularly hard. I agree that woodland mansions should have better loot though. I pretty much only go there for the 3 easy totems of undying. I just personally think it makes sense for the ancient city loot to be more valuable. The ancient city is also a set difficulty area. It's equally challenging no matter when you go there in the game's power progression. Woodland mansions get easier and easier the longer you stay in the world.
10:55 I once joined a brand new SMP, wandered off, found an ancient city, and decided it was my new base. Honestly if you are careful about crouching, break shriekers, and have a safe room out of the range of the warden's scream attack where you can go wait out your cooldown if you accidently spawn a couple, it's pretty easy, because *no other hostile mobs spawn in the deep dark*. Made everything much easier. I just would go up for supplies now and again, but my home was down there. I never killed the dragon, or even got diamond gear I didn't loot there. So like... how difficult it is depends entirely on how patient and thorough you are with your defensive measures, and keeping your bearings so you can book it back to your safe room in a pinch. And I'm not a particularly good player! Saying it "should be somethin people are exploring after they kill the dragon" like m8 i've never killed the dragon in single player and I probably never will. But I can, have, and will continue to explore ancient cities. Git Gud if you think it's that hard, tbh :P
to be fair jetstarfish sounds like the kind of person to only use the starting pistol in CS, and blame the SCAR to be too powerful(barely anyone knows its existance).
WHAT? This guy is honestly saying making End ships LESS frequent is a good thing? A SOLUTION? On two worlds now I had to bridge for over 10000 blocks to find ONE. It took me hours and the whole thing was more and more stressful the more tired and frustrated I became, because the margin for error is non-existent. This guy is out of his mind.
It isn’t even hard to look up the spawn rates for an end ship, you’ll see how rare those crappers are, and how far away they are from the rest of the city, which is why the shulkers are a fine enemy because once you’re hit you’re done for and going into the void if you don’t land on a block, if it’s not too high that is. I genuinely just don’t understand his logic there. He bars the warden as an end game exclusive , but then complains about some things in villages for the mansion as a post end game only, but then also makes a fine end game addition that does challenge you even more annoying to get
@sky-trevishere9638 I mean, shulkers aren't hard at all. Like all things in the game, mostly a matter of preparation. When you're hit, you have ground under your feet, the upwards speed isn't very high, so you can easily counter the levitation effect with a bucket of water or a boat, which renders the entire levitation effect useless, not to mention, by the time you're there, you probably have feather falling already, which makes the above more like a suggestion, than anything mandatory. And the knockback is very small, so you can easily move in such a way that you fall onto the block where you've been hit. And even if you're woefully underprepared, yet another thing that entirely counters shulkers can be found all around you where you fight them - chorus fruit.
@@Cpt.Stickerno0dle-iu3ok Not to mention, it doesn't "fix" the "problem" with elytras, because in singleplayer you only need one and in multiplayer it's already hard to get even one. But after you get it, it's still the superior way of travelling. And, even IF we agree it's too easy to obtain, how is making it more rare a good thing? It's forcing players to spend even longer in the End Islands, that are entirely empty outside of End Cities. Traversing through the End Islands is just so boring and unfun; once you've been there for 5min, you've seen everything there is to be seen there. You might think this is a contradiction to me saying it's stressful, but it actually isn't. The very reason why it's stressful is because it's so dull. The main danger there is losing focus and having your fingers slip, which's all the more likely, if the task is boring and unfun.
Locking the ancient city behind the dragon is basically taking horizontal progression and forcing it to be vertical. As far as "Minecraft needs more progression," this doesn't add anything more, it just removes the player's choice. And since so few players even beat the ender dragon, there'd also be less players exploring ancient cities. You could argue the nether is a set of biomes with more gold ore. Similarly, fossils only generate in deserts and swamps, and the deep dark generates more often underneath mountains. Diamonds generate more often with reduced air exposure, which includes aquifers and underneath a layer of sculk / moss. And buffing iron and copper generation won't even matter much since they can already generate in giant ore veins.
Damn, I forgot the Nether! Yeah, that changes quite a bit about the ore generation stuff. It has more gold, quartz, ancient debris, and a bunch of other unique resources. This is a fantastic comment
They also lock the End behind the Nether, which is locked behind needing obsidian. If diamonds sometimes dropped from dirt, that would give players just a FEW more options behind the same damn linear storytelling.
Ok, but even in the video, he addressed that you could find an ancient city without needing a map or beating the dragon. Also, you think people who haven't beaten the dragon would go to an ancient city?
I FORGOT ABOUT ORE VEINS i wish we had more different kinds of ore veins, and have htem generate in specific areas (so like large gold ore veins in mesas alongside their increased small-vein spawning, or coal veins near certain places too? lapis veins that generate near where there's mineshafts and woodland mansions, implying the illagers might have used those mineshafts to gather lapis for magic stuff, that would be cool, add that to some of their lore and make it useful for something else magic related in a new update)
@orang63 ...but he made this occurrence rarer. There's no point to it being rarer. As to your other point... yes? Like, if you're talking on a player basis, then maybe no, because someone who hasn't beaten the dragon might chicken out. But on a game by game basis, this argument falls apart because I imagine the MAJORITY of skilled players are probably challenging the warden before the dragon, because the warden is the same difficulty end game or early game- sure, with full netherite you'll probably survive a hit, but if you're in melee range of the warden, it's already over. In fact, for a skilled player, it makes sense to challenge the warden as early as possible because that's when they're still vulnerable and could use the recovery compass the most (and getting swift sneak early on is also a boon)
I love how he argues that diamond pants are a useless drop before proceeding to say the entire city should be arbitrarily locked until you already likely have diamond pants
And all other diamond armor, for that matter. He also suggested that you can find all that in an ancient city, but once you've beaten the dragon, you likely already have it, making the reward even more useless than before.
@@thehayze259 at 12:10 i would have to agree, I've been playing the game for 15 years straight now, become highly proficient at survival. I find it far more fun to get the enchanted diamond gear, armor trims, and golden apples when i'm just starting the game (between full iron and nothing) than if i were to go mining for the diamonds. The warden adds a new bit of challenge and interactivity to grinding maxed diamond gear, making it extremely enjoyable to go through the horrifying experience in trade for the massive reward (depending on your position in the game.)
also at 15:59 the xp vials are extremely useful late game even if you're in hardcore due to levels gathering far faster between levels 1-30 than they do 30 and beyond, so storing them away till you need them would maximize the efficiency of things like mob grinders and (dare i say) skulk XP farms. as for making them give all pieces of armor, they already do that with varying levels of unbreaking and protection. I've personally found 3 full prot 4 unbreaking 3 sets of diamond gear in ancient cities in one of my hardcore worlds, so his addition is entirely pointless.
24:57, sorry for so many comments but you're bringing up a lot of good points which i have to agree with and support. The nether has many of it own biomes with useful resources yes, but he is also forgetting to mention anything about BUILDER interests, and seeing as builders arguably make up a good 60-70% of the minecraft community it's VERY important to cater towards them if you are in fact going to make changes to the game. As of right now we builders have to travel all over the world for woods, terracotta, clay, sand and red sand, coral (which can be used in redstone,) prismarine, mushroom blocks, and many, many more blocks and items only findable in the many different regions of Minecraft. the exploration need for minecraft is there, and it's necessity is justified, only possible thing needed for exploration in minecraft is faster early-game transportation but in my eyes that's covered by ice boats bridges, railways and dolphins. In the late game we can go faster than ever before with elytra, and so exploration doesn't really need many more motivators. if we're going to talk about the tryhards of the game, those people who want to find and conquer every single thing they see, there's still plenty of arguments to be made supporting the whole exploration thing. There are many advancements that require you to have very biome-specific things, thus making it so most players have to travel the world in order to get all the advancements. However if you want the game to be more of a linear RPG, or a pvp game then go to servers and try out some mods, they tend to do amazing at making the game more fun for those kinds of players (and if you're buying this illegal mod in the first place why not go get some of the free mods out there, like XP Tomes which adds books you can store up to 30 levels in.) the game even caters towards the PvE style of players because of the large variety of mobs you can fight, all of which you need to adventure around for if you want to defeat one of each mob (which is an advancement in and of itself.)
33:54, yet again i have to agree with you here, lapis has so much potential but it's one of the most useless items in the game, with even it's block looking hideous in many many builds (objectively,) all while in woodland mansions there are evoker statues that hold a little piece of lapis in their hand, suggesting that the Evokers get their magical powers from said lapis. Lapis is also required in enchanting further supporting the suggestion of lapis holding magical properties, and one idea i have for this is a magic update, which adds a lapis staff you could put enchantments on, such as flame for a fireball staff, channeling for a thunderbolt staff, and a few custom enchantments such as warp for long-range teleportation to make it slightly more useful for late game instead of pearls. The staff would also use the Dragon Egg as it's crystal, using the Dragon's magic as a basis for it's first useful spell, dragon breath. I would also suggest making the Dragon Egg renewable, making it so killing the dragon after respawning it would drop another egg (which i personally thought would make more sense than a dragon egg only dropping for the very first dragon.) Perhaps add a cooldown to the respawned ender dragon making it so the egg will only spawn after leaving the dragon alive for a certain amount of time. Although this staff would be quite powerful it would help add a ranged alternative to pvp, especially with the recent arrival of the mace which has the chance to one-hit someone in maxed netherite.
if you're a true builder you definitely don't want to build some beautiful stuff in survival mode as there resources need to be obtained second of all, AXIOM
I think the main reason the “How to FIX Minecraft videos” doesn’t work half the time, it’s because they only tend to focus on a type of play style, so if you aren’t one of those people it just makes the video awfull
Its an OPTIONAL additional that improves one playstyle! You can't simultaneously improve every playstyle with one feature! He didn't say he was against adding decorative blocks.
@@SamS-zu8up no.. you can improve multiple, he just didn't try, quark have stuff like giving jump boosts step assists and villager luring with emeralds, letting you place blocks underneath you, whilst doing a ton of other stuff. Yes it's free And he calls builders pussies and says dripstone and copper are useless.
When he said he studied plate tectonics to find where coal would be deposited that’s not even plate tectonics that’s sedimentation rate and oceanography since we’re talking about ocean basins so he wasn’t even right about the topic of geology he apparently “studied”
i know right. im studying geology and i shouted out loud THATS NOT FUCKING PLATE TECTONICS. Also semi related i know he ended up watching a video by a geologist minecraft youtuber named Gneiss because he took the idea of the copper rails from a comment under one of his non-geology videos. Kinda ironic.
Something I wanna note about Ancient Cities: The reason that specifically leggings are found there and not any other type of armor is because guess what friggin Swift Sneak is applied to? *Your leggings*
I still think it should have more variety though. Mostly pants is fine, exclusively pants is just annoying, especially when they so often spawn with highest level enchants so you can't even combine them for better stuff or anything, kinda just takes up inventory space after the first couple. Plus there are other ways to hint you need to use it on pants, and even with NO hints, swift sneak sounds like an armour enchant and its not like there are that many types of armour it could potentially apply to, so not showing you its a pants thing wastes like 30 seconds max, and only the first time you get it. I don't think that's worth making the armour loot pants and pants and pants and pants.
oh, I thought it would be the shoes just like for most stuff that are linked to walking, but this is amazing anyway, also I only learned about the existance of swift sneak from this video and now I want it luckily, there is a deep dark under my base on my server, unluckily, I am WAY too easily scared to go anywhere near it
Wait I just realized... He complains about Woodland Mansions being hard to find and requiring an explorer map to find... And then he goes and makes Ancient Cities do the same thing???
What is your “gotcha” moment here? Woodland mansion do suck to find, but it’s better than literally just hoping you can find a mountain biome with a city. The problem with random generation is sometimes you can end up traveling tens of thousands of blocks just for jungle wood, or a badlands biome. It’s completely within the realm of possibility to just not find mountains (the most obvious way to find ancient cities) for hours and hours. So yeah, the maps suck, but at least it’s SOMETHING.
I think the reason people shit on copper rather than lapis is the fact that majority of copper's uses are only aesthetic, while lapis is used for enchanting, a function incredibly helpful for survival. Copper has more creative use but no survival use. Lapis has more survival use but (almost) no creative use. Ultimately, most of the players complaining about copper are much more survival-focused and aren't interested in the creative uses that copper has to offer, generally.
I personally think copper should be given a little more practical use, simply because of it being a common ore. Not necessarily progression related, maybe something to aid other, more relaxed playstyles, such as a way to improve farming or fishing or building. I am perfectly okay with its *main* use being purely decorative, though. I just think it has great potential for adding to casual minecraft.
Copper not having survival uses and only creative uses isn't really accurate either. Honestly the way copper was implemented was really good and a lot of alternatives people want are short-sighted and not great. Copper was added with Caves and Cliffs, which basically tripled the height of the world and added giant caves that would be constantly dark. In this context, the spyglass was a really good feature since people would want a zoom now more than ever, which was an extremely popular feature people would mod into the game. Now we have a vanilla zoom, and in the update where it makes the most sense for it to be in. And for it being mostly decorative...that just makes sense. It could maybe have more redstone components yeah, but the one I see a lot is people saying they wish it made armour and standard tool sets, which actually makes zero sense. Not just with irl copper but in terms of progression. Where would you put copper? Between stone and iron? It would suck then, because iron is so easily accessible. You can make at least 3 different types of auto iron farms (golem, zombie and general mob farm) and iron is in practically every loot pool in the game. It is absurdly easy to have full iron from looting shipwrecks, which are super common. As well as it being a common ore. If copper made armour and toolsets, why would you ever craft them when you can skip straight to iron and it would be probably even easier to get? A mostly decorative use is exactly what copper needs to have in order to stand out and have a reason to exist. And copper being primarily decorative is WHY it is a common ore. It's something that's treated similarly to stone bricks. It has to be accessible for it to properly work as a versatile building block. You can make decorative blocks out of all the ore types, but none of them have crafting recipes to make them into such diverse block types with so many colours and textures.
Adding to this, Lapis was the Copper back in the day, because you’d get so much of it and it had only a few uses before the Enchanting System was tweaked
@@IceFireofVoid Diamond Armor isn't viable irl, don't use double standards, but Copper was used in Bronze Armor along with Tin, in fact Copper would be a great material to make Chainmail armor making it accessible for practical use as you go to get Iron in caves. Copper itself could be the opposite of Gold, highly durable like Iron/Diamond but it gets bad enchantments. This would be great for going caving between stone and iron meaning any surface iron is now more viable for tools like Buckets and Sheers which are best saved for after you have an full set of armor. This would also double to make Copper tools great for using Books on, so Efficiency on a Copper Axe or Pick would be much healthier then on Diamond or Iron. They would last longer then Iron giving their enchantments more value. This now fills a niche before you have full iron armor and offering alternatives for style or a surface life style where Iron is much more valuable in tools which can only be made with it.
The funniest thing about this whole concept, is that he's essentially just going "Vanilla Minecraft has problems and you should solve them with modding!" and like, at that point if we're gonna mod the game anyways, why would I pay 8 dollars to play his specific mod when I could download a modpack that does a million more things like adding a hundred new biomes and more resources spread out across more areas and more things to build with everything in the game and so on. Hell if you want a specific vanilla friendly mod to improve exploration I would recommend the Yung Structure mods that turn things like mineshafts and desert temples and whatnot into actually interesting dungeons with things to explore and puzzles to solve in them that are really cool and have tons of fun rewards, and those mods do plenty on their own to already make me wanna explore the world a ton more without any of the other changes he brought up. Also yeah I 100% agree that if he paid hundreds of dollars for this mod to be made he was scammed lol. I haven't gotten into Minecraft Modding just yet, (I really should tho tbh) but even I know that changing a few values and adding one or two new recipes is really not a big ask
Terrablender changes world generation and makes it more insane a and better looking Biomes o' Plenty adds a shit ton of amazing and pretty biomes There are mods that change how the structures generate and how rare they are There are mods that do the stuff this dude's mod does x1000 times better and makes everything more pretty, good looking, insane and makes you want to explore
Even outside of better mods already existing, the exploration not being good enough for some people isn't a "problem" - it's a reason to get creative and make those mods in the first place. Minecraft in general is filled with blanks on purpose, for the players and the devs to fill in themselves. "I came up with some ideas to add more exploration elements to Minecraft, since I like exploration and want to do it more" is functionally the same as "Vanilla Minecraft doesn't do enough for exploration, and I, Jesus 2, will tell you the perfect solution". Both express genuine passion for the game, but one was inspired by the chance to add more, and the other expresses dejection that anything needed to be changed at all. Sure, Minecraft has issues (the Elytra should probably be countered by *something* other than ice boats or piston bolts), but I think it's far better for it to be flawed at the edges and encourage the most dedicated players to customise the game to their liking with mods, than for it to already be perfect and have one perfect way to play it.
@@marcoplay26 you don't even need mods to change worldgen now Data packs like the whole stardust labs projects refreshes Minecraft very significantly, adding new biomes and structures to the overworld, nether, and even the end Pairing it with tectonic (via terratonic) you can even overhaul caves in the overworld. It’s kinda funny because it’s one unique mechanic outside of mycelium and mooshrooms, no mobs spawning is not even unique to it anymore. Deep Darks can essentially serve the same purpose when you remove the shriekers and it is much more common. Mushroom islands 100% need more reason to find, because right now it is just “hey cool, a mushroom island” then you move on.
@@mecalico4647 but making them more common doesn't solve anything, if they're more common then so what? We still need an actual reason to go there in the first place. It's like woodland mansions, they're rare but there's an incentive to go there but mushroom island? All that's there are no mob spawns but even then the deep dark does it too
I mean even if the deep dark also has the no mob spawn it is underground. Even if you mine all of the blocks above to the sky you will have sheer cliffs or tons of land you need to slope down around. Mooshroom islands are always on the surface so building there is just better as most bases like to be able to be on the surface or near the surface and not near the bottom of the world like deep dark biomes spawn. Obviously if you like underground bases deep dark is better, but most players like surface/near surface bases from what we see in various videos and posts online
@@Angel_Alph-TVMooshrooms are very cool and is one of the hardest mobs to acquire, and that’s (imo) way more incentive than everything a woodland mansion has to offer.
Part of jehtt’s issue is he only sees structures and biomes as useful if they help make the player more powerful. His viewpoint only favors the grinding aspect of Minecraft, and he skips over the entire creative side that is just as important. People don’t create a world JUST to get the most powerful gear, that removes what makes Minecraft so great. It’s the idea that every world is unique, that you can create any world and always see something new for the first time. Jett acts like Minecraft NEEDS to be a linear game, when the fact that it isn’t is why so many people love it.
I'm amazed that neither JetStarfish nor Hayze mention the big problem with exploration-inventory management. I recently started a new world, and after a while, I wanted to get some blocks I didn't have access to before. Problem is, within 1000 blocks, I passed 3 new biomes and completely filled my inventory. This puts a major blocker in any sort of long term exploration if 2-day's treck is the most you can go before running out of space. Having 2 bases that are more than a day's journey away also is troublesome as you can't easily transport goods between them, so if you have multiple bases they all have to be self-sustaining. I do think this is solvable: - changing stack sizes and making backpacks/bundles actually work would help in early exploration. - minecart trains that can go out of loaded chunks and operate on a schedule - ability to "employ" wandering traders to transport items between set locations Though I'm sure they all come with many downsides and there are probably better solutions. Either way, exploration won't be fixed by making it more tideous to find structures and made more rewarding by locking off certain blocks/items arbitrarily. It will only be fixed by making the actual movement from A-2-B more engaging.
@@_marcy3291 Yes, but only 12% of players on bedrock enter the end. Stats for Java aren't public, but even if it is 4 times as much, it would still mean half the people never got to the end and have no access to shulkers. And by the time they do, they also have an elytra and likely an elaborate XP, trading and storage set up with farms for most renewable resources nearby as well as a large collection of finite items; so travel is easy and unrewarding.
I think the main issue with JetStarfish's critiques is that they're motivated purely from a progression standpoint, and in trying to "fix" the game he wants to simplify progression into a vertical line. The player choice present in Minecraft's horizontal progression is apparently a problem (like when he says players having one central storage area is bad) that must be solved by restricting playstyles until everyone is progressing through the game in the same most optimal way (like blocking off ancient cities until you defeat the ender dragon to give them a single spot in progression, ignoring the some people might just like alternative transportation methods to elytra even if not "optimal," ignoring ways to get enchantments other than villager trade grinding) If you're speedrunning the game, the aesthetic uniqueness of biomes and building block variation doesn't matter to you. If you're grinding for max gear, all trees look the same because they all give you wood, and desert wells and other flavor features seem useless. If all you care about is progress and striving for efficiency, you miss half of the game, and any feature that isn't part of that progression looks useless (like spyglasses and lightning rods, building blocks, archeology)
Minecraft is not Terraria yes both of them have survival elements but Minecraft is a sandbox an endless sandbox where you could do almost anything without having to progress it is why I believe that Mojang has mostly focused on the overworld focusing on the end could lead the game to feeling a lot more linear

I'm so fucking tired of people not understanding the ancient city. There's wool in them for a reason. You're meant to NOT fight the warden. The loot is REALLY valuable if you are actually being stealthy and don't die constantly. The ancient city is way less dangerous than bastions, at least in my experience.
This is so true!! Tons of people will complain about the warden being "too hard to kill" or offering "no reward" when mojang has clearly stated that's the way its SUPPOSED to be. You're not meant to fight the thing, you're meant to AVOID it
@@Carlos-jw2xd And if you woke it up you're meant to run like a bat right back out of hell (with optional elytra use if you feel confident you won't die to kinetic energy)
Both bastions and cities are fun because you end up sneaking around all stealthily, trying to avoid death and systematically going through the whole structure. I did a raid on like, 5 or 6 cities for that one rare armor trim with my friend and it was great fun. We used color coded wool to mark certain points and got it down to a fine art by the third one we raided. I think both have their problems but they're still fun structures to raid! Unlike, say, a nether fortress, where it's basically just a giant spawning area with the occasional crappy chest.
@@Carlos-jw2xdI wish they would've just made the warden invincible instead. Having any possibility of killing him just makes players take it as a challenge. The challenge is to avoid the warden. It's Minecraft's idea of a stealth mission.

Wow, a single enchantment i’ll never use because Bedrock’s fucked code will kill players for literally no reason and cause me to lose my armor, amazing, but hey at least that gives the otherwise useless recovery compass somewhat of a purpose (you know, unless you have a working memory and know how coordinates work).
@Slender_Man_186 first of all, skill issue :3 Second of all, brain no cant remember funny little numbers to where i died (also because i forget to check 8/10 times)
Fun fact: the majority of people who explore the real world dont travel for financial or material gain. They travel because they wish to see what the world has to offer in experience. The real world is beautiful and has some downright alien feeling locales. If every person on earth only ever traveled for something that was there that wasnt just the fact that it existed, we simply would know jack shit. Minecraft captures this beautifully, and the game, honestly, would be very bland and sad if every structure and every biome had a purpose to benefit the player outside of... just making it feel real. Like, in the case of the ancient city, a huge part of exploration and discovery is sometimes happening across something you probably aren't ready for. I remember going through a mangrove swamp with shaders and it was breathtaking. And you know what? Thats the point! Thats why it exists! Edit: also, putting mods up for purchase for games that do not allow the monetization of mods ruins mods for everyone. I dont want to argue slippery slope, but ive seen it happen. The outright ban of all mods because a handful of jackasses couldn't follow the rules.
(This is off topic but it's something I've thought about a lot) Casual Minecraft players (me and everyone I know included) are the biggest group of players. Serious players talk about Minecraft more online, despite being a minority, so when Mojang makes additions, people forget that Mojang has to think about casual players. Most won't kill the ender dragon and a lot have never even played survival. My point is that I just think online opinions about the game are wildly different than the average player, and the internet misrepresents how players view Minecraft. But hey, that's just a theory, a Minecraft theory.
That’s what bugs me so much about all the “controversy” people get mojang into, they never take into account the casual player-or even game balance. You can’t add three new mobs to every update in a game that updates every year; you’ll make the game bloated in just a few years. You can’t always have big, game-changing updates, because then it gets to chaotic. The try hards forget that the hook of Minecraft is that *you* build the game as you play. All the things in the game are really just an array of assets you use to suit your play style.
Okay but none of his changes actively harm casual players, they literally BENEFIT casual players. Like...he is actively suggesting features that benefit casual players.
@@DannyDevitoOffical-TrustMeBro That's genuinely not true, you can absolutely add three mobs yearly without bloat...because the world is infinite. Casual players won't see most features of the game to begin with and the mob vote mobs absolutely do not benefit any casual players besides the glare. The hypocrisy of saying that hardcore players "forget" that the hook is that you build what you play then acting as if the mob votes aren't actively forcing things onto people rather being more of a sandbox? That's stupid. What's the problem of adding more assets to suit your playstyle more? There are none, it only benefits people
Two things that get me: 1. The assumption that the Warden is meant to be fought, and as such locking it behind the Dragon. The Warden is an *obstacle*, it's meant to be the *warden* that keeps you away if you mess up. The whole point of the mob isn't as a boss entity, it's a constant threat. Sure you can fight it, but it's intentionally overpowered. 2. In a video that wants to encourage you to explore, he removed some of the incentives the game *already has*. By making Biome locked Villager trades just more common instead of *actually locked*, you can just keep all your villagers in one place and roll the slot machine over and over until the villager gives you the enchant you want, because they're no longer locked to the biome! You know, like how it was up until 1.21? That's actively discouraging exploration and encouraging mindless grinding! Also it's a little thing, but one of the reasons I don't think ice boat highways should be nerfed is they're exclusive to the tryhards. No average player is going to put a boat on some ice and learn how fast it goes. Minecarts, Horses and even the Elytra are all obvious transportation methods. But ice boat highways are just... not. The only people who use those are people that already know they exist!
Also the amount of work you have to put into construction of an ice bridge is fucking absurd. All the ice you need to collect and especially if you build one in the nether they can’t travel up so you need to carve through any obstacles that gets in your way. Also one, albeit, minor advantage minecarts have above almost every other travel method is that are passive transport. Once the railway is complete all you have to do is push a button and you’ll go straight to your destination without any other inputs.
so what, you can just trigger as many catalysts as you want so long as you havent killed the dragon yet? ok then, let's go looting the ancient city before we go to the end, no need to bring wool or anything the warden doesn't exist yet lol
I'm 90% sure that the people who make these types of videos, are just genuinely uncreative people, who either don't build, don't do redstone, and will kill the ender dragon and get bored because they can't set goals for themselves
As someone who plays this game when he was 6 and now 13, building in Minecraft for fun from time to another could make my day sometime spend 8 hours of building random stuff in a flat creative world, just because I found it fun... (Also I love your videos :])
Do you understand what motivation is an how it works? Congrats on being able to conjure up motivation from nothing but minecraft itself doesn't really incentivize "creative" play for the most part I feel like. It's a slow crawl with little engagement and little reward for going above and beyond with your effort. It feels almost insulting at times. If I want to build large buildings scaffolding is useful. But hm... I spawned in a plains biome. I guess I'll have to go find a jungle... wow! after 9 years I've found one! Yay! Now I just have to make the slow annoying crawl back home! By that point I barely feel like doing anything creative because to be creative you have to fucking jump through 20 different hoops.

The funniest thing is Jet claims he paid "hundreds of dollars" for the mod to be made. Right, a mod that mostly changes structure rarity, some crafting recipes, and a few numbers. All of those things could be made with data packs and ran in VANILLA with no modloader needed and could be made in roughly 2 hours. I went to the Discord to tell him he was scammed big time and the mod developer proceeded to barge in and insist his pricing methods are no one's business but him and Jet's and the moderators desperately tried to shut down the entire topic.
I'll push back on this. Outside of spaces where doing work for free is the norm, people pay for labor, and without any intent to sound sarcastic, that can be a real shock when you've grown up with your only context for development being free video game mods. It was for me, and now I actually write Java professionally for work. People develop and release mods for free not because it's easy and their labor isn't worth anything, but because they're willing to set aside the cost of their labor and work for free out of passion. They're completely correct that their pricing is no one's business but theirs and their client's. A developer's time has a set cost regardless of how much effort you perceive a project to require and "hundreds of dollars" is not at all unrealistic for this kind of thing. That's something for the developer and their client to negotiate and no one else. Content creators also often exploit knowledgeable people for free labor since they're able to leverage their parasocial connection and the exposure they'd get from their work being featured. How often do you hear some youtuber say "I made this cool thing" but it's actually the work of some random guy in their Discord? This is a really obnoxious issue and I'm glad to see that for once someone is actually being paid to do some youtuber's project.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that there aren't issues in gameplay, I die several times in structures just to find shitty loot, like if it's meant to be super difficult, then at least reward the player. Giving a use to something does not necessarily hinder aesthetics.
@@AdjectiveBlazkowicz I mean, the main structure talked abt here, the ancient cities, are, pretty damn easy. 1.-mobs don't naturally spawn in skulk biomes (b4 they used to in bedrock but that's been fixed) 2.- wool makes the not making sound feature a lot less of an issue 3.the warden is, so incredibly optional, you need to make 3 mistakes for it to be summoned, and, the counter resets every 10 minutes So, the ancient cities, the biggest structure the video being reacted to changed, don't actually have that high of a risk, if you don't want them to
Plus exploration and adventure... Are ENTIRELY subjective! Even mining in a cave with friends can be and adventure! Because adventure is just... Having fun!!!
15:32 - one word: trading. I personally don't go out into the wild that often prefering to build and I still want to enchant my stuff. However, aside from smelting and occasional villager trade I don't get XP. Meanwhile my friend often leaves for hour and a half and gets back with a bunch of levels. We play in our little group basically in co-op so he gladly enchant all the things that I ask him. However, imagine you are in SMP. If you have a good farm, you can make a business out of it Edit: Finished watching the video and it made me think. The thing is, since I first started playing Minecraft back in 2011 I never built or explored that much. I always was "a sweaty gamer" on a constant grind for resources - huge mines, huge farms, everything must be maxed-out, everything needed a purpose, usefulness above prettiness and so on. That drastically changed when I re-introduced my girlfriend to Minecraft. It was pretty recently, already on 1.20. She played it a while ago, back in 1.3, but quickly moved on, so she had a decent grasp of the game, but knew nothing about new stuff. When she first time fell into powdered snow she was genuinely scared. Or when she went travelling on her own to look for villagers after unsuccessful raid and then the whole process of me explaining her how to transport entities on a boat began. She was struggling to get back home (went quite far away) and almost died to a skeletons on the beach. Yet when she came back home she was so, so proud of herself, because what would be for me just a trip was quite an adventure for her. And then it hit me. She was *enjoying the game way more than I had been in years.* Or maybe ever. Like, for someone like me, who knows game through and through and who was always goal-focused it was just a simple day-to-day occasions which had no impact on "gameplay" but for her it was an absolutely fresh and exciting experience. We stumbled upon cherry forest on top of circle-shaped mountains and she was in absolute awe. I looked at her and suddenly realised that I was playing the game wrong this whole time. I sucked all the fun of it. All the enjoyment and creativity which it ignites in people I exchanged for the over-optimisation. Don't get me wrong, to each it's own, but I genuinely had such a blast when I consciously decided to *not* make a trading hall. To *not* create an iron farm. To *not* min-max every inch of our base's space and to focus on building and exploration. Again, my "sweaty gamer" skillset was quite useful in places like Nether, but when we ventured into these places together, my mentality was not "Let's take this, this and this and then skiddadle" but "Let's just enjoy the trip and have an adventure" and I had infinitely more fun with the game. I started to focus more and more on gathering wide array of blocks, mostly decorative, to share them with her and realised that I like building much more than fighting. Gradually I moved on to be mostly builder, occasionally dwelling deep into caves/venturing into Nether to get some more deepslate/blackstone for builds and I absolutely adore this. Moreover, I found that those building tutorials from guys like Grian weren't in vain and I retained some of this knowledge, and when I heard that she liked our little japanese-esque "town hall" I felt like I was in heavens, because I created something and this something was pleasing to somebody else. So, in short - not everything must have a purpose. Goats don't have a purpose (horns are fun, but they have next to zero gameplay impact). Powdered snow doesn't have a purpose (again, technically incorrect, but it's highly limited in day-to-day life). Pandas don't have a purpose. Parrots, rabbits, music disks, note blocks, spyglass and like 80% of blocks in the game barely have a use. They just... Are. This is their purpose. To just be. For you to have fun. Hearing JetStarfish to say that Desert Well is useless for me is like looking into the mirror. And I feel pity for him. For myself. Because instead of wasting his time he could have enjoyed the game to it's fullest.
Bro really said Minecraft players need girlfriends. 💀 In all seriousness tho, i do agree with your perception of the game and i think that the community need to start seeing the game as what it is, a sandbox without a “correct way” of playing it. I myself really enjoy raiding structures and fighting mobs and my primary objectives used to be kill the ender dragon and get the elytra, but once i tried start focusing on other things and mechanics my experience and overall enjoyment of the game improved, getting into building, collecting music discs, flowers and pets served to give me more objectives to fulfill and expand my experience with the game besides getting netherite and fighting the ender dragon. I still thing minecraft have a lot of features with wasted potential and i hope mojang eventually improves them (like the sniffer, the ametyst and the woodland mansions) but i think that a great part of the problems modern minecraft has is partially fault of the community itself for having such a plain vision of the game and wanting all players to play exactly as them.

that one line in jet's outro section where he called builders pussies really, really struck me. because i think that casual little joke, with the context of the sentence before it, just lays bare his entire philosophy about this game in one stroke. and, no surprise, that apparent philosophy is top-to-bottom hot trash. he acknowledges that minecraft is a game with many different playstyles, seems to make a token nod to the fact that the core of minecraft's design is about openness and lack of restriction - and then he says 'yeah anyone who's taking this gameplay route is a little bitch ngl'. which also kind of explains why he completely omits mentioning swift sneak - outside of his 'disingenuously trying to sell you something' angle i really just don't think he gives a shit about it, and he thinks it's useless. this all pretty openly establishes that he values certain playstyles above others in a game where that hierarchy does not naturally exist. but more specifically, it makes a clear statement about what his hierarchy looks like. this asserts it as the typical 'pro gamer bro' lean that prioritizes doing the cool, 'action-y' shit. (and honestly, this is pretty obvious from other little things - mostly the way he only describes the process of looting an ancient city as a fight, an action segment you have to survive hits from, when a more tactful and slow-paced approach can negate the action aspects entirely. you can turn it into more of a stealth puzzle!) which, hey, that's a fine way to play minecraft on its own! be aggressive! go apeshit, have fun! but then he designs his mod in a way that will railroad other players towards doing those things. he portends that he's thinking of builders, but then under his system a builder who wants to use sculk is going to have to go fight the fucking ender dragon to find it reliably. his mod has decided it's his way or the highway in a game where the entire point is 'hey do whatever you want however you want'. and like, i know you don't have to use his mod. you can just play vanilla. but the base design vision of the mod is bad from the word go. he's not just 'solving' problems that don't exist, not only creating new problems, he is actively designing for the antithesis of the game he's purporting to fix and ending up with a mess. and he's making you pay Eight Dollars for it. maddening. an absolutely maddening, brazen lack of self awareness. though i guess using the same dull ass racist joke 6-7 times in a row made that pretty obvious already?
If this was an actual update by making ice melt in the nether it would ruin some netherbuilds. It also is pretty funny how they complain about Woodland mansions being uncommon and hard to find and then do the same thing for the ancient city.

Man, I don't get it. Why do people want to _lock_ anything in this game? A huge part of the game's appeal is that you can play it any way you want and that if you're skilled enough, you can take on late/end game challenges early on. Minecraft is about freeing your experience, not limiting challenges to a particular order or relying on extrinsic motivation. Also, in regards to the abyss map, how does the game communicate to players that a new trade has been unlocked with villagers because of them killing the dragon?
Because that's what Terraria does, and Terraria is the greatest game of all time that every game should immitate in their eyes. Mario Wonder? Would be so much better beating Bowser Jr. 3 times would trigger hard mode so Mario needs to mine in the Fungi Mines for better gear. /s
This. I think sometimes people forget Minecraft is a sandbox game that doesn't force one specific play style or progression route on the player, you progress and play however you want to which is Minecraft's biggest appeal. Minecraft is not and never was meant to be an RPG, and I really don't see why people struggle to understand that fact.

That's quite a huge leap to make and is quite defamatory, but this man IS actively spreading misinformation about this game so he can make his pay-to-access mod seem more useful and enticing, i think it's completely fair to do the same thing to him. Honestly i just don't trust this side of the community, anyone who makes "Mojang is so lazy, i could program super death god bosses and guns into this game in a day" type comments just seem like shady individuals to me honestly, like it's not actually the game they have beef with Mojang about, it's just that complaining about the game is the only criticism they can make aimed at Mojang without seeming like complete jackasses. The only reason I personally don't complain about Lapis being useless is because I genuinely can't think of much it could be used for, at least nothing that fits Minecraft's style. Its not used for much in real life outside of dye, jewelry, and pottery, and I'm not sure what more magical related things it could be used for. Its just a missed opportunity all around not having it be used for any redstone features (outside of lightning rods of course, which are sorta niche... Though they're a GREAT building block). I would love for Lapis to have more uses though.
Well, the new copper bulbs in 1.21 are going to change up a lot of redstone, even though Mojang did nerf them a bit. I would still like copper to have more redstone uses too, but it seems like Mojang already got the hint with that critique and has started adding them in.

IMO the main problem with Minecraft's exploration isn't lack of incentive or lack of reward, it's how much storage space a Minecraft world takes when you do a lot of exploring. Behind inventory management, I think file size is the number one barrier to exploration in Minecraft.
literally right on the nose. if you want to fix exploration in minecraft, then just add a backpack mod. also true, minecraft is terribly unoptimized and exploring makes a world unopenable.
Minecraft is such a horribly optimized game on both versions, and it gets worse every update. They’re putting off fixing it, because they’ll have to rewrite most of the spaghetti code that the game is built off of, and that would take forever. But they will *eventually* have to do it, or the game will just become unplayable. Most Java players need mods like Optifine or Sodium to run the game smoothly, and I think it’s a shame how few people criticize Mojang for that. If you needed a mod for a game like Elden Ring, BotW, or Fallout to run smoothly, do you even know how many people would be ripping them to shreds? And Minecraft is the *biggest* game in the world, it shouldn’t get any excuses. A lot of people still treat Mojang like the small indie company that they used to be, when they’re anything but.
From the amount I've played in Bedrock, it's way better at keeping world sizes small than Java is. I don't get why they haven't optimised anything on Java yet.
"I think it's bad that the Ancient City is late in the game's progression", he says, right before suggesting it be locked to late in the game's progression
The thing that always gets me with people talking about the recovery compass is that they ALWAYS say "it's the hardest location in the game" which, is technically true, but also it is specifically designed to be a consistent level of difficulty no matter when you go there. No mobs spawn, your only threat is the warden, and as he says it kills you quick regardless of your armor. I go to these things as early as possible in my survival worlds for the diamond gear and enchanted books- as soon as I have wool it's my first structure to find.
You can go in with no armor or full netherite and it'll be basically equally hard. The only thing the Netherite will do is protect you from a few more Warden melee attacks, but if you're being attacked in melee by a Warden, you've already lost.
And wool is as early game as a stone axe and a bit of looking around for sheep. Highly renewable as soon as you get your hands on two iron ingots. If ancient cities were possible to locate from the surface, I'd be down there in the first hour
@@ToaOnichuit'll only sonic blast if it can't pathfind to you, so if you run and sneak (and use eggs) instead of walling up you're at no risk of being sonically blasted
Ancient Cities spawn under mountains. Bedrock even has splash text when loading the world that says this very thing. It just becomes a question of how locateable mountains are.
@@Neio-14 i play the fucking game. Dont tell me to watch a video. They barely add shit to any other part of the game like combat or exploration and when they do its either half assed or the rewards arent worth looking for. You look for youtubers to tell you how to think, i dont. At a certain point in the game, theres no incentive to leave your spawn to go explore. Swift sneak? Thats not interesting enough to go to an end city. Its not even game changing. Woodland mansions are useless with the introduction of raids. The warden doesnt even drop anything when you kill it. Ocean monuments only have building blocks and a few blocks of gold which you can get from mining normally. Only item worth exploring and finding in the overworld that does anything interesting is the heart of the sea from shipwrecks because its actually unique but even then. Only part of the game you need or have to explore is the nether and once you find that fortress or bastion with the upgrade template, thats it. You have no reason to go back unless youre so invested in armor trims. And before you say im a hater or something, i criticize the game because if theyre gonna update it, id rather it be worthwhile than half assed. Its criticism from love. And im not saying everyone has to feel the same way.
4:30 “they also have the worst loot in the entire game” HUHH????? I found one early game once and got near full protection diamond leggings(edit: apparently there is no Protection 5 and 4 is the max, so full protection diamond leggings apparently), multiple God Apples, armor trims bottles of enchanting and a diamond hoe before I even had iron armor I also find it really funny how his main argument for ancient cities should have like fully enchanted netherite tools in them is because “oh the warden is so strong is can kill you in just a few hits” like does he not realize the entire point of an ancient city is to not wake up the warden??? Does he think you have to kill the warden every time it spawns and can’t just sneak away? 16:15 Ok wait I actually kinda like his idea there tho I think it should be taken a step further, if ur gonna have the Recovery Compass and Totems of Undying in there may as well add the EXP Vials and go all in with the “Respawn based loot” theme, like doesn’t it make sense to have the place where you get a compass that takes you to the last place you died and a totem to stop you from dying also be the same place you get the bottles that keep your XP after dying in there aswell instead of putting it in the now “end game” ancient cities, and with the life theme you could even have a building center, like how bastions and monuments have that center room that’s filled with gold you could have the Master Bedroom which would have beds, a lodestone and more chests than other rooms in the mansion
18:10 My man is absolutely correct, it is 100% illegal. Have you heard of the Minecraft Physics Mod? Yeah, the developer of that mod did the same thing. Mojang sent him a cease and desist, and he was legally forced to bring his mod, Physics Mod Pro, into the free realm or risk a court hearing, so he settled things before court was necessary, brought his Patreon page down for a while so he could change all of his posts to the free tier, and began asking people to pay him for his hard word rather than forcing them to. He still doesn't list the Pro version on CurseForge despite that, however, and forces you to download it from his Patreon instead, where none of CurseForge's JAR-based virus checkers can actually do their job, meaning that if the guy gets hacked or decides he's done playing mister nice guy, we could have another Log4J on our hands.
Paid mods being illegal does not make sense, when the marketplace's addons are sold. Marketplace content is just the same as selling paid mods/worlds/packs so I dont get why Mojang unfairly treats the marketplace with lax regulation with tons of ripped 3rd party content like Among Us skins and stolen mods, while original mods get legal threats Thats the reason why so many people are against selling mods in the marketplace, because how come they allow mods to be sold there, while selling them somewhere else can warrant legal threat
@@bumblebeegamerreal Because they're okay with having paid mods so long as they're the ones getting paid. Other people making money off of their game, hard work or not, is unforgivable for like 99% of companies. Bethesda's Creation Club is another example of this, Skyrim mods being paid but Bethesda get money from those purchases.
EULAs have been found many times over the years to be largely unenforceable, and it also depends on the jurisdiction. I find it highly unlikely that anyone was threatened with a court hearing over it. Also: (Despite the fact that mod virus checkers are very inaccurate) Log4J was a vulnerability in the Log4J library, included with Minecraft. It’s not the same thing, as downloading a malicious mod is not included.
Breaking an EULA isn't illegal because an EULA isn't a law it's a contract. That's why Mojang had to threaten legal action and not the state in which the law was broken. It's kinda weird that a video complaining about misinformation (rightfully so) also didn't take the time to look up what the fuck an EULA is or whether breaking it is legal. So no, putting a mod behind a pay wall isn't illegal. No crimes were committed. Jet could be sued by Mojang, but EULAs tend to be unenforceable, although expensive legal fees and the time and effort it takes to fight them often make it impossible for the end user to fight back. Especially if it's a perk on an already existing patreon for Jet's youtube channel or whatever and not even as a special more expensive tier, I don't know if that would legally even be breaking their EULA.
I'm not gonna lie, I don't care if Mojang adds instant teleportation to travel millions of blocks at once, I WIL be making a minecart network that spans tens of hundreds of thousands of blocks connecting every structure in my world!!!
Yo same! I still made minecart path to navigate a cave outside of my house even though my friend says it's just a waste of resources and shows that he can sprint faster than my minecart. But in the end he also uses my minecart system because it's more fun 😂. Still I hope it can go faster though.
@@dark_zAzas8052 You should waste even more resources just because he said something, and create a note block song to play during the minecart system ride (bonus if you use 500 Chunks).
To be fair, minecarts suck. I love minecarts and will continue to build with them, but they suck. I would be so happy if they were made to be useful. My personal suggestion has always been to be able to link carts together as a train. That way chest and furnace carts become useful.
I hope they never add teleportation, theres just something so cozy about being millions of blocks away that just wouldn't be the same with teleportation
Would love a teleport system. With how big the world can get I feel it would make it more feasible and manageable. There are already portals in game. I liked his video.

Im not entirely sure if I see the correlation... the warden is very dangerous, in a structure that isnt the easiest to get to since you need to dig under a mountain, and then you get a compass whos purpose is already being provided by f3 on java and the coords being on in bedrock.
@@TNTsquid. It's unreasonable to expect even the most experienced player to constantly have f3 open and continuously glancing at the coordinates whenever exploring on the off chance that they die.
34:07 Copper is used for: - Trims -the spyglass (not really a persistent use) -Brushes (which you go through very slowly) -Lightning rods (niche but very useful in said niche) - 36 decorative copper blocks (72 if you count the waxed versions) Lapis is used for: -Trims - Lapis Blocks - Enchanting (While you can technically get around this with books, at least starting any enchanted gear with a table enchantment will save you a ton of exp and emeralds) And everything in the game that uses blue, cyan, light blue, Magenta, or Purple dye. So: - Leather dyeing - Banner patterns - 5 candle colors - 5 wool and carpet colors - 5 concrete and powder colors - fireworks - 5 shulker box colors - 5 glass and glass pane colors - 5 terracotta colors - 5 glazed terracotta colors Which, if you count fireworks, armors, and banners as one use each, totals to 38 decorative uses, more than copper boasts. real. I always hate it so much when people make such a huge fuss over the minecraft eula. it's not even to protect players, it's just to protect Microsoft's pockets.
He forgot that there are people who play for years in the same world and never beat the ender dragon. They just... build, explore, mess with mechanics etc. He plays minecraft like a speed runner and doesn't care that the game can be played in different ways.
exactly, especially when he used the pie chart thing of what biomes he went in, and complaining about people having 'no reason' to explore - like i explore all the time, its my favourite thing to do, and thats just because it's FUN! like i love finding different biomes and making new houses and stuff, and collecting as many different pets as i can - i've been playing for years and i've actually never properly tried to go to the end in survival since i just dont really want to lol. my favourite part of minecraft is that you can just do whatever you want, the world is completely yours, and if you wanna just speedrun every single time then thats fine but dont ignore all other types of playing just because you personally don't enjoy it or you think its pointless or whatever. the aim of playing minecraft is just to have fun, and for me thats through building and cats and exploring - not through doing things in a specific order every single time
tbh calling enchanted golden apples “useless” just because you can’t use it against the warden is such a bad take. PvP anyone? Having 8 extra hearts makes pvp trivial.
The whole ancient city thing kinda sounds like JetStarfish is assuming that you will _fight the warden_ which just, is not how the area is intended to be played? The warden is so powerful even at endgame _because it is supposed to be a penalty for failing to sneak._ The warden is not a boss you should fight, it is the fail condition of the ancient city. In fact the entire video seems to be made from the myopic viewpoint that armor, weapons, enchants, and food are the only things you will ever want. The periphery systems that enable combat are the only reasons to go anywhere or do anything. No! The game is a sandbox, designed for players to do what they find fun. Building, exploring, fighting, redstone, all are equally valid modes of play and if you look at the game from any view except maximizing your ability to fight and not die, then Jet's entire argument falls apart. I think a more useful viewpoint to see the game's balance from is that of balancing the rewards for all styles of play. Any structure, biome, or location should include at minimum some new blocks to build with, something useful if you want to get stronger, and some kind of exploration aid or unique item for those who just want to explore. It is fine if Jet personally plays like this, but assuming that all systems that don't purely feed into this playstyle are useless, broken, or irrelevant is dumb. Jet can go make mods that facilitate his method of play if he wants, but he should not assume that his view is the default.
If it is intended for this, then they will not cope with the task; the best way to beat the city is to enchant the hoe, break all the Shrikers, and then wait 5 minutes until spawn.
So here's another thing about him choosing deserts for coal, sure oil and natural gas forms from natural debris being buried and pressured in the ocean, but not coal. Coal forms from peat and dead plants, that tended to be in swamps not oceans. As a result coal distribution tends to be all over the place, as continents move and what was once a swamp might become almost anything else, as there is even coal in Antarctica.
I literally googled “where is coal most commonly found” and found several coal distribution maps, how a guy who did so much “research” he asked how his life got to that point missed this is very strange.
yeah but the natural gas and oil is a better reason than any other biome except swamps. The placement could be arbitrary and it'd function just as well, it's just a fun little thing to have on the side.
The real issue of exploration, which no one seems to be talking about, is that the more you explore, the bigger your world file size gets, and the bigger your world file size is, the laggier your world becomes. Not only that, but large world file sizes can also lead to full-on corruption, which basically means you lose your world. This is the #1 reason why I don't explore most of the time. It's not that I hate or dislike exploring, quite the opposite. I absolutely love it. It's the fact that exploring is literally destroying my world, making it unplayable to the point where I can no longer even enter it. That's why I don't explore If Mojang could just give us an official way, maybe even through the game itself, to trim worlds/delete unwated chunks then I would explore waaaaaaaaaaaaay more because then I wouldn't have to worry about my world getting laggy or corrupting as I could literally just make the world file size smaller again only keeping chunks that are important or chunks that I like. Ps. I know there are ways to trim worlds with 3rd party programs, but for casual players, that's just a pain. + It is mostly doable on a PC, something that many players don't have access to, so if there was an option to trim worlds inside of the game itself, then exploration would be much more desirable.
It would be so nice to have the option to trim off unnecessary chunks of worlds. I remember creating so many unnecessary chunks from try to find a woodland mansion and I would appreciate if I could get rid of those chunks.
@@Auxbrainedmaby they could add a built-in world chuck trimmer. One feature would be that you can mark parts of you world as ownd land(your home/territory) so that you can't accidentally delete them while trimming parts of your world. You would then select the chunks you want to get rid of and they would be reloaded.
I love jet using the “muh realism” argument Always reminds me of Gabe Newel in the half life documentary “Why the fuck do you want realism when in real life I have to sit down and make a list for what I need in the grocery store, that’s not fun. I sit down and play games to have fun”
If I see an ancient city early game, I go right for it. The ancient city is super easily exploited and you can just simple run away from wardens and out of their detection range. Not really a hard structure at all in my opinion but I also understand that most people don't know or don't play like this.
It's definitely hard IMO, but good gear doesn't make it any easier. It's intended to be a structure you can challenge any time, and doing it early on nets you a LOT of good stuff.
I definitely agree, its not "hard", there's little challenge if you are careful. With the warden thing though, I feel like its ironic that the best way to deal with a warden, is to just to forget about stealth when it spawns and you very likely wont die though.
@@Toastedcat1 Yeah I think the current ancient city implementation is fine still. We have to keep in mind that 70 percent of the playerbase won't know the specific mechanics of the warden making it still a challenge. Mojang can't design the game with the most optimized playstyle in mind because things like farms already render a huge chunk of the game to useless. 90 percent of people aren't playing in the most optimal anyways.
Here's some more interesting things to note about Ancient Cities: diamond ore usually generates more frequently when not exposed to air, so utilizing the enchanted hoes you can obtain from loot chests for mining all of the sculk around the deep dark can be incredibly rewarding, plus you'll get tons of experience for it. There's also the fact that in the Villager Rebalance experimental datapack, Ancient Cities have boosted odds for mending book loot. I don't think I need to explain why that's a great thing.
@@ryantale honestly, does it *need* to be better than strip mining? I see it as a fun activity mostly, plus it yields a good amount of xp if you don't have a grinder setup yet
One thing that i think that gets wrong its the purpose of exploration itself Star thinks that exploring its for getting useful items to help you on your play-trough, but thats not the only purpose. In my 200 day-ish old world i went to collect the sniffer that, in my opinion, is not worth it. But why did i go to get it? Because even if maybe i don’t need the flowers, it’s freaking cool to have an extinct animal in my backyard and also have an adventure traveling thousands of miles just to get it, because exploring is fun even without a motive.
@HarambaeXelonmuskfans and I feel stupid for doing so but tbf to me I didn't believe everything he said and I didn't think it was a problem at first either but after the debunk I can see how much sh*t he dumped onto the ad he calls a video
I do disagree with minecarts being "better for vertical travel." You can just, fall down into water faster than any other method, and a bubble collum will get you back up in seconds. Even if you doubled minecart speed, it would only be useful if you were trying to go like, diagonally a short distance (purely based on mechanics and not looks, roller coaster travel is best travel). Personally I think there should be some kind of "Icy Rails" which can get you up to speeds a bit above ice boats, but you derail if you turn while going that fast. It doesn't break existing ice boat fun and gives intensive to make new high-speed travel with them. Plus you could purposely de-rail a minecart to make like, a jump across a gap.
@@Fiend-ishyeah. I bet those supposed hundreds of dollars (how do you need that much to make what is basically a data pack that just so happens to have an item?) for the editing because that’s the only salvageable thing about the entire video
There's a noticable pattern of JetStarfish not taking builders into account at all. I feel silly for not noticing it the first time I watched his video, while being a builder, who explores for blocks myself.
Jet star is that part of the minecraft community who calls the dev lazy for not adding updates that cater to them. meanwhile builders and explorers are eating good with the 1.21 update.
@@lloydcoe9680 I don't know how you got that conclusion, but his changes given in the mod don't affect people that are primarily builders in any way. Explorers however, wouldn't want any of the changes he suggested, cause it fundamentally locks you out of many aspects of exploration.
He genuinely misses the point of playing minecraft The game doesn't make you meet the game's expectations, it's up to you to make them. It's a sandbox game after all
Well the point he wants to have is having exploration be necessary for a technical player. Right now, there isn't a ton of reasons for exploring most biomes except in search of decoration blocks.
@@rosswalenciak3739yeah but why do you need a reason for that? It’s a sandbox game and it shouldn’t force you to do something. If you really care about exploration you would do it for fun. It’s like saying you need a reason to play video games in general because “for fun” is not enough for you. There is one thing encouraging exploration but it’s another to force you to do it and especially in a sandbox game where different player types all get affected by these changes which forces more “grind” for people who don’t see the fun aspect in exploration. If something is not fun anymore the fix is not forcing people to do it anyways just to be able to do the thing they actually want.
You also miss the point of sandbox. And so does @ARBUZIK.dudkin Exploration should partially be about the environments and interesting locations, but even in a sandbox game, there should be things like interesting building blocks, minor loot exclusive to locations, etc. You cannot just say "Oh, but sandbox, so excuses design"... Minecraft has had a lack of reasons to do exploration. A lot of players end up playing in mostly a single biome for the entire game. Not enough ways to ensure a player can get back home, for example. Exploration for the sake of exploration is not a good way to make exploration. And saying "The game doesn't make you meet the game's expectations, it's up to you to make them"... and he made his expectations, and they fall short... He would like there to be reasons to explore... For his sandbox... so... you are telling him, that he misses the point, when he created his own expectations, that you say you have to do, that he then did, but he misses the point... you see where I am going here... Yeah, he is not really getting that Minecraft is about more than getting enchanted gear and good enchants and "good loot", he is forgetting that it is also a building game.
@@ARBUZIK.dudkin The idea, at least for my technical playing, is the fun in puzzles. Right now a lot of the biomes are basically the same, because they don't have any technical differences. It's fun to try to figure out how I'm going to get different materials (the puzzle). Right now the puzzle of finding materials that serve a mechanical purpose barely includes exploring biomes.
1:47 Minecraft critics: The game is so easy now and there's no reason to explore Also minecraft critics: You mean i have to WORK to find this INCREDIBLY RARE and HUGE new structure that houses a new BOSS that gives you a new and highly useful COMBAT ITEM?????? It's like the equivalent of that one spongebob meme of the kid who asked for Pistachio ice cream, then cried because he hates pistachio, then cries even harder when he loses it
Dude only looks at the biomes as pure resources, not even decorative ones. I like the idea of diamonds in jungles and redstone in swamp, but those biomes alr have tons of reasons to go there. Also he points out all of these bc he doesn't go away from his base so he assumes no one explores. I do also agree with him abt changing the rails to copper, even if it doesn't need more uses, it could certainly buff minecarts. The only problem is that it'll change the texture of them that might ruin some builds. Also highways are pretty balanced. You need silk touch and manual input, unlike with minecarts.
With copper and rails, don't get me wrong, it's a cool idea. I would love more useful minecarts, and I think the way he suggested fixing specifically that feature was great! It's just frustrating because the good points he makes are so often drowned out under complete nonsense.
Swamps are already the redstone place because of witchs, specially after they got massively buffed in 1.21, so in a smart way, Swamp is the place for redstone nerds to get lots of redstone
@@thehayze259 Yeah but problem is, wich he points out in his video, it's not even his own idea. Don't get me wrong, I still love the changes, but personnaly the fact he says the idea came from other people only at after yapping about minecarts for a couple of minutes makes it feel like he stoled the idea.
I mean... that's not an invalid way to look at them, right? Like, simply put, he wants more extrinsic motivation to explore as a non-builder. I don't agree with most of his points, as they would cut into the sandbox nature of the game, but to him the sandbox isn't what appeals to him. Minecraft, as it currently exist and will probably always exist, just isn't the type of game that would appeal to him. So he tries to find ways to make it more appealing (which is fine) but at the same time, it wouldn't appeal to everyone else. I don't think he's being deliberately disingenuous, but he has a narrow view of the game that he thinks most people share. (And it is clear given how quickly this blew up that there is quite the number of people that agree with him)
@@thehayze259 I do believe that copper, outside of building, is almost completely useless. It is not like stone bricks, copper is an ore. Ores should have uses outside of looking cool. Even lapis is used for enchantments, and at least it has a good use. Copper has pretty much nothing, and when you explained how it had other crafting recipes, you didn't include any items, only building blocks, which invalidates your point of having uses outside building.
also it struck me as very strange that he's got so much heat for the woodland mansions being hard to get to and then essentially presents the exact mechanic he said he hates to improve the ancient cities
I love how often people forget that Minecraft is, at its core, a sandbox game. Putting linear progression in a SANDBOX defeats the whole point and actively goes against what Minecraft is. It is recommended that you visit an Ancient City in mid- to late-game but that's *just a suggestion*. You can enter an Ancient City on day one. It's *your choice*. THAT'S THE POINT OF A SANDBOX.
Other sandbox games have linear progression, look at Terraria. I get your point, but Minecraft isn't designed this way because it's a sandbox game, it's just that the game was designed with non-linear progression.
@@superepicdudemccraft5076 I'm going to say something a bit controversial but, and this is coming from someone with about 800 hours of playtime in vanilla Terraria, Terraria has basically all the issues that people say they have with Minecraft but worse. The main one I can think of off the top of my head is the "item bloat/useless item" issue. For example, the ore tool/weapon and armour sets in pre-hardmode. The vast majority of them are completely worthless because you can skip all of them to immediately go to your best in class. Seriously I will play on Master mode, spawn in, maybe make cactus armour but usually just have nothing, go straight to the jungle and get the best magic armour you can get before beating the wall of flesh without having had to fight any boss to get to that point. And the section of the game right after the wall of flesh but right before having beaten any mech boss feels like hot doodoo in terms of progression. It's the one spot in the game that feels the most linear and it is the spot where I have quit the most worlds and never looked back. It's wild because when you look at the "useless items" in Minecraft, every single one of them does something specific to itself. I don't get the Terraria comparison as something people keep bringing up as how to "fix" Minecraft. Have they even actually played Terraria? Not saying I dislike Terraria though, I love that game. I love it for completely different reasons. I like the extensive level of customization you have with the character specifically and things like the NPC mechanic and just how much stuff there is to collect in the world. It just has some pretty significant issues with its progression that Minecraft avoids by being completely non-linear.
@IceFireiofVoid I bought terraria thinking i would have a wonderful time with it considering how often its compared to Minecraft. I ended up playing for about two hours before feeling completely hopeless and stuck. I didn't want to have a wiki page open the whole time i was playing, so i just stopped. Turning Minecraft into a terreria 2 where you have to just know everything or constantly be looking at a wiki page just didn't work for me and a whole lot of other people. No hate to anyone who does enjoy terraria though, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
@pippapup7644 Oh yeah Terraria has an issue with having a huge amount of stuff in it and a lot of the best stuff is extremely rare or hyper specific in how you get it, and the majority of what you find along the way is kind of crap. It doesn't really communicate any mechanics to the player particularly well either so you just kinda have to know things. Even with the guide NPC that can tell you everything you can craft with a material, it doesn't really help you know how to get anything. And also the world evil mechanic and how to stop it from spreading. I've had friends who played for the first time and didn't know the world evil spread and get a nasty surprise when their desert one day is just replaced with crimson. You'll have wikis open and community forum posts, but sometimes the community is straight up entirely wrong about things. It was long held by the community that you should build for damage and that defense is a waste of time. You hear this over and over for years. Only fairly recently did someone do a full breakdown and realized that damage increase modifiers on gear didn't work how people thought they did and defense is actually insanely overpowered.
What I find funny is that he said thw recovery compass is bad because its only useful for players that die, and then proceeded to showcase his new item which is only useful for people that die.
Being able to store XP isn't "only useful for ppl that die". With the way levels work, the amount of XP required grows exponentially, so being able to store first 30 levels would shorten the amount of time you need to gather XP. The reason recovery compass considering useless is because it's placed in the most dangerous structure in the game. Jet explained it well in my opinion

The thing with his villager trade fix is that his ENTIRE VIDEO is based on the idea that people don't explore enough, and aren't incentivized to. His "solution" is to say that villagers should all have the same pool of enchantments, at different odds. He removed a potentially useful mechanic to get people to build multiple bases and explore more just to bloat his mod up and make it seem more "innovative".
He took an idea that Mojang already came up with and added into the game, and then just nerfed it so much that it doesn't matter anymore. It's like that company that just invented a worse version of trains and pretended it was a revolutionary new technology.
Also I hate when people don’t mention that the ancient city actually exposes a bunch of diamonds gold iron and sometimes emerald, It just shows them on the walls

You...mmm...na you right
ancient cities have better loot than woodland mansions
Ancient cities make sense to be rare especially seeing they have better loot.

The elytra is already at the latest point in the game. Why is he trying to make it even later beyond just beating the end dragon?
He said that's not a final answer dude
However if you want the game to be more of a linear RPG, or a pvp game then go to servers and try out some mods, they tend to do amazing at making the game more fun for those kinds of players (and if you're buying this illegal mod in the first place why not go get some of the free mods out there, like XP Tomes which adds books you can store up to 30 levels in.)
the game even caters towards the PvE style of players because of the large variety of mobs you can fight, all of which you need to adventure around for if you want to defeat one of each mob (which is an advancement in and of itself.)

"C’est l’hôpital qui se moque de la charité"
Yeah lol.
Yep.
Yeah its a contradiction.
I've always liked the idea of lightning rods working to smite lakes and get fish
imagine saying "I built a lightning fishing farm"
Terrablender changes world generation and makes it more insane a and better looking
Biomes o' Plenty adds a shit ton of amazing and pretty biomes
There are mods that change how the structures generate and how rare they are
There are mods that do the stuff this dude's mod does x1000 times better and makes everything more pretty, good looking, insane and makes you want to explore
My favorites are Alex mobs, Alex caves and biomes o’ plenty.

I think its hilarious that he "gives players a reason to explore every biome" and COMPLETELY IGNORES THE MUSHROOM ISLAND. You can't claim to "fix" exploration and ignore a biome that needs arguably the MOST exploration!!
I think they could help mushroom islands by just making them more common
I do think this is solvable:
- changing stack sizes and making backpacks/bundles actually work would help in early exploration.
- minecart trains that can go out of loaded chunks and operate on a schedule
- ability to "employ" wandering traders to transport items between set locations
Though I'm sure they all come with many downsides and there are probably better solutions. Either way, exploration won't be fixed by making it more tideous to find structures and made more rewarding by locking off certain blocks/items arbitrarily. It will only be fixed by making the actual movement from A-2-B more engaging.
This is like the only good comment here

Stats for Java aren't public, but even if it is 4 times as much, it would still mean half the people never got to the end and have no access to shulkers. And by the time they do, they also have an elytra and likely an elaborate XP, trading and storage set up with farms for most renewable resources nearby as well as a large collection of finite items; so travel is easy and unrewarding.
I think the main issue with JetStarfish's critiques is that they're motivated purely from a progression standpoint, and in trying to "fix" the game he wants to simplify progression into a vertical line.
The player choice present in Minecraft's horizontal progression is apparently a problem (like when he says players having one central storage area is bad) that must be solved by restricting playstyles until everyone is progressing through the game in the same most optimal way (like blocking off ancient cities until you defeat the ender dragon to give them a single spot in progression, ignoring the some people might just like alternative transportation methods to elytra even if not "optimal," ignoring ways to get enchantments other than villager trade grinding)
If you're speedrunning the game, the aesthetic uniqueness of biomes and building block variation doesn't matter to you.
Starfish is also motivated from the perspective of trying to be a sellout and getting money lol. Its bias no matter how you look at it.

I did a raid on like, 5 or 6 cities for that one rare armor trim with my friend and it was great fun. We used color coded wool to mark certain points and got it down to a fine art by the third one we raided.

@@gaminganimators7000end exploration for bridging across gaps, and for breaking into peoples bases on anarchy servers
I recently got it on a server and it’s way more useful than you think once you use it.
No it's feels pretty true especially since it feels more like a hassle more and more because of the updates
There are none, it only benefits people
they literally said this in the video
Two things that get me:
My mom said she gonna buy me a professional skibidi if i hit 100, please im begging a,.a
Also the amount of work you have to put into construction of an ice bridge is fucking absurd. All the ice you need to collect and especially if you build one in the nether they can’t travel up so you need to carve through any obstacles that gets in your way.
Also one, albeit, minor advantage minecarts have above almost every other travel method is that are passive transport. Once the railway is complete all you have to do is push a button and you’ll go straight to your destination without any other inputs.
most know the ice highways exist, and most could never be bothered to build one
so what, you can just trigger as many catalysts as you want so long as you havent killed the dragon yet? ok then, let's go looting the ancient city before we go to the end, no need to bring wool or anything the warden doesn't exist yet lol
@thebiolibrary5572 you seem to have misunderstood the comment

15:32 - one word: trading. I personally don't go out into the wild that often prefering to build and I still want to enchant my stuff. However, aside from smelting and occasional villager trade I don't get XP. Meanwhile my friend often leaves for hour and a half and gets back with a bunch of levels. We play in our little group basically in co-op so he gladly enchant all the things that I ask him.
However, imagine you are in SMP. If you have a good farm, you can make a business out of it
Edit:
Finished watching the video and it made me think.

In all seriousness tho, i do agree with your perception of the game and i think that the community need to start seeing the game as what it is, a sandbox without a “correct way” of playing it.
I still thing minecraft have a lot of features with wasted potential and i hope mojang eventually improves them (like the sniffer, the ametyst and the woodland mansions) but i think that a great part of the problems modern minecraft has is partially fault of the community itself for having such a plain vision of the game and wanting all players to play exactly as them.

and, no surprise, that apparent philosophy is top-to-bottom hot trash.
he acknowledges that minecraft is a game with many different playstyles, seems to make a token nod to the fact that the core of minecraft's design is about openness and lack of restriction - and then he says 'yeah anyone who's taking this gameplay route is a little bitch ngl'. which also kind of explains why he completely omits mentioning swift sneak - outside of his 'disingenuously trying to sell you something' angle i really just don't think he gives a shit about it, and he thinks it's useless. this all pretty openly establishes that he values certain playstyles above others in a game where that hierarchy does not naturally exist.
but more specifically, it makes a clear statement about what his hierarchy looks like. this asserts it as the typical 'pro gamer bro' lean that prioritizes doing the cool, 'action-y' shit. (and honestly, this is pretty obvious from other little things - mostly the way he only describes the process of looting an ancient city as a fight, an action segment you have to survive hits from, when a more tactful and slow-paced approach can negate the action aspects entirely. you can turn it into more of a stealth puzzle!)
which, hey, that's a fine way to play minecraft on its own! be aggressive! go apeshit, have fun!
but then he designs his mod in a way that will railroad other players towards doing those things. he portends that he's thinking of builders, but then under his system a builder who wants to use sculk is going to have to go fight the fucking ender dragon to find it reliably. his mod has decided it's his way or the highway in a game where the entire point is 'hey do whatever you want however you want'.
and like, i know you don't have to use his mod. you can just play vanilla. but the base design vision of the mod is bad from the word go. he's not just 'solving' problems that don't exist, not only creating new problems, he is actively designing for the antithesis of the game he's purporting to fix and ending up with a mess. and he's making you pay Eight Dollars for it. maddening. an absolutely maddening, brazen lack of self awareness. though i guess using the same dull ass racist joke 6-7 times in a row made that pretty obvious already?
Yeah who the hell likes that joke, on top of using the Minecraft skin they added so people could be represented?

Because essentially they want Terraria in 3D.
Because that's what Terraria does, and Terraria is the greatest game of all time that every game should immitate in their eyes.

Its not used for much in real life outside of dye, jewelry, and pottery, and I'm not sure what more magical related things it could be used for.
Meanwhile Copper is used for _so much_ in real life, even being used for tools long before iron.

Thats not interesting enough to go to an end city. Its not even game changing. Woodland mansions are useless with the introduction of raids. The warden doesnt even drop anything when you kill it. Ocean monuments only have building blocks and a few blocks of gold which you can get from mining normally. I also find it really funny how his main argument for ancient cities should have like fully enchanted netherite tools in them is because “oh the warden is so strong is can kill you in just a few hits” like does he not realize the entire point of an ancient city is to not wake up the warden???
Protection V isn't a thing at all.
Shame that probably won’t happen cause it’ll fall off like crazy and go under the radar
Paid mods being illegal does not make sense, when the marketplace's addons are sold. Marketplace content is just the same as selling paid mods/worlds/packs so I dont get why Mojang unfairly treats the marketplace with lax regulation with tons of ripped 3rd party content like Among Us skins and stolen mods, while original mods get legal threats
Thats the reason why so many people are against selling mods in the marketplace, because how come they allow mods to be sold there, while selling them somewhere else can warrant legal threat

Copper is used for:
- Trims
-the spyglass (not really a persistent use)
-Brushes (which you go through very slowly)
-Lightning rods (niche but very useful in said niche)
- 36 decorative copper blocks (72 if you count the waxed versions)
Lapis is used for:
-Trims
- Lapis Blocks
- Enchanting (While you can technically get around this with books, at least starting any enchanted gear with a table enchantment will save you a ton of exp and emeralds)
And everything in the game that uses blue, cyan, light blue, Magenta, or Purple dye. So:
- Leather dyeing
- Banner patterns
- 5 candle colors
- 5 wool and carpet colors
- 5 concrete and powder colors
- fireworks
- 5 shulker box colors
- 5 glass and glass pane colors
- 5 terracotta colors
- 5 glazed terracotta colors
Which, if you count fireworks, armors, and banners as one use each, totals to 38 decorative uses, more than copper boasts.

Its a video about exploration (which you mentioned in your rant) and how its kinda bad
I literally googled “where is coal most commonly found” and found several coal distribution maps, how a guy who did so much “research” he asked how his life got to that point missed this is very strange.
i think this proves my point that this guys sources are just 2 reddit posts
yeah but the natural gas and oil is a better reason than any other biome except swamps. The placement could be arbitrary and it'd function just as well, it's just a fun little thing to have on the side.

@@TNTsquid.The problem isn't that he did something unrealistic it's that he's acting like he did sooooo much research for something that's wrong
That's why I don't explore
If Mojang could just give us an official way, maybe even through the game itself, to trim worlds/delete unwated chunks then I would explore waaaaaaaaaaaaay more because then I wouldn't have to worry about my world getting laggy or corrupting as I could literally just make the world file size smaller again only keeping chunks that are important or chunks that I like.
I think only spawn chunks stay loaded forever and everything else just gets stored compactly unless theres an anti unload mech set up
@@Auxbrainedmaby they could add a built-in world chuck trimmer.
One feature would be that you can mark parts of you world as ownd land(your home/territory) so that you can't accidentally delete them while trimming parts of your world.

@@XAMERENeh most structures are kinda outdated. yungs better -- mods fix it for the most part though
@@zwitie3455 That isn't a problem of exploration itself though
Manufacture the problem, sell the solution: an old, dirty business tactic which he uses in a new way.
@HarambaeXelonmuskfans and I feel stupid for doing so but tbf to me I didn't believe everything he said and I didn't think it was a problem at first either but after the debunk I can see how much sh*t he dumped onto the ad he calls a video
"it's not a sandbox anymore!!!!"
"anyways i wanna lock a structure behind an arbitrary point because"
I do disagree with minecarts being "better for vertical travel." You can just, fall down into water faster than any other method, and a bubble collum will get you back up in seconds.
I would defend vertical traveling by sayings it’s more dynamic due to being capable of going at a slope but YES to the ice.
Unless you're in the nether, where ice tracks are used the most. No water to go up.
A video can be as scummy as it wants, but as long as there is good editing, many won’t care.

Explorers however, wouldn't want any of the changes he suggested, cause it fundamentally locks you out of many aspects of exploration.

you can find iron, emeralds, coal, copper, and obsidian without setting foot underground. smh.
He genuinely misses the point of playing minecraft
The game doesn't make you meet the game's expectations, it's up to you to make them.
And so does @ARBUZIK.dudkin
Exploration should partially be about the environments and interesting locations, but even in a sandbox game, there should be things like interesting building blocks, minor loot exclusive to locations, etc.
@@ARBUZIK.dudkinYour argument sounds like "it's not explorations fault, you're just not trying hard enough to enjoy it!"
1:47 Minecraft critics: The game is so easy now and there's no reason to explore
Also minecraft critics: You mean i have to WORK to find this INCREDIBLY RARE and HUGE new structure that houses a new BOSS that gives you a new and highly useful COMBAT ITEM?????? Who do these mojang guys think i AM?!?!?!
Dropping the elytra chance is wild to me. I spent like 4 hours with a friend and we only found end ship. Plenty of cities, ONE ship...
also it struck me as very strange that he's got so much heat for the woodland mansions being hard to get to and then essentially presents the exact mechanic he said he hates to improve the ancient cities
I agree
@@pqdhiwyw true, however by the time you have a reliable enough source of xp for the vial to be useful in that sense, you most likely will already have all your gear fully enchanted so storing xp isn't useful whatsoever
@@WaldoWheresReal depends how it works, if it just /give levels, then yeah, but if it actually counts as absorbing XP, it's an instant way of repairing your tools with mending and you don't even know OP that would be in PvP for example XD
@@pqdhiwyw The thing is, the Ancient Cities don't get any easier the later you are in the game, you still get 2 shotted by ranged attacks with or without Netherite, and you're not gonna survive the melee attacks anyways, so putting the recovery compass in the Ancient City doesn't undermine itself like people say.
Mending. Instantly filling your durability to max with 1 bottle.
