Thanks for the shout out. I remember when I first watched his vid, sure there were a few ideas I somewhat agreed with (mainly the ones near the end of the video I had already touched on), there was still a lot of "that's not true", "that's dishonest" and of course "that's against Eula" if you don't include "literally none of these jokes landed well." I originally was trying to give credit for trying to propose solutions as so many other videos just complained about the problems, but the more I thought about it the more I couldn't endorse solutions built off lies. Nice vid going through more of his vid and pointing out errors for others to see. I'm currently working on part 3 (finale) to the series and my own mod which will be available for free day 1.

The "it's just food and wood" comment genuinely makes me angry. iPad kid aah take. lil bro has never gone outside to appreciate nature and it shows. This is the type of guy whose family would go on a trip to some nature park, surrounded by trees several centuries old, rock formations, exotic birds and waterfalls, and just spend the whole time scrolling Tiktok and then at the end of the day say it was lame.

Since they’re are no monsters in the deep dark except for the warden, which is basically a threat at any stage of the game, you can walk in there with no armor or enchanted diamond armor and it would be mostly the same experience. He trashed on enchanted diamond hoes, even though hoes is the tool that can break sculk quickly, a block which stores XP and covers the whole city. He talks about how it’s bad that the woodland mansion is rare and has an explorer map, then does the exact same thing to the ancient city but worse. Not just that but he moves the recovery compass to the mansion, which is now as common as the ancient city used to be.
Mojang's increasing insistence on making default tools for everything has led the hoe to be one of the more powerful gathering tools in the game, and an outright better option than shears because you can clear leaves at the same speed without having to reprocess them for saplings. Getting a _diamond-tier_ hoe as a freebie from the drop pool is legitimately incredible in the current update.
His video really comes off as a video that people put in the background and aren't fully paying attention to how ridiculous it sounds because they are busy doing something else
One thing he said that pissed me off about his exploration video is called 90% of the community aka builders, cowards. Jetstarfish is already way to desperate to make minecraft into an RPG or a glorified 3D version of terraria. ITS A F*CKING SANDBOX NOT AN RPG.
Ah yes insulting the overwhelming majority of the playerbase and target audience of the game. Surely this is a good play. What was he cooking when he made that comment? Genuinely
You want it to be more rpg, mods, in fact he made a mod. Which he should have the right to make profit off of, even if it wasn’t really a good innovative mod. What he shouldn’t do is claim a minor flaw is actually destroying the game and to sell this mod pack. He should have made the video clearly about the mod and how he believes it can make the game more enjoyable for adventure and rpg oriented players.
@kylezdancewicz7346 I think he himself knows that if he just pushed his "mod" as is without trying to tear down the base-game with half-truths and lies then nobody would have been interested because really all this datapack does is: Make finding ancient cities less convenient. Make finding the elytra less convenient. Make woodland mansions more common? While complaining that they are bad due to their loot but not making the loot better. Adding copper rails but immediately making them not really relevant because the existing gold rails will just be better. Preventing you from making ice boat roads for no real reason. Having the worst of both worlds between villager trades and the experimental villager rebalance update. More biome specific ores (this one is fine) And an exp bottle he copied from dozens of other mod packs that have been around for a decade.
@@kylezdancewicz7346 I disagree on the he should be able to monetize the mod. He's creating a mod on an already established base game. He doesn't own the rights to essentially sell that base game but with some additions because he didn't create the base game nor did he ask for permission to do it. It's against community guidelines for a reason. I believe all games with a mod community do the same thing. If he was just asking for support it'd be fine but to lock the mod behind said support is wrong
JetStarFish: "The ancient city is a late game area and you can only explore it with an enchanted diamond set" Me with half an iron set, a damaged shield, a pair of scissors and a dream: Skill issue
it's really funny how he claims the ancient city is supposed to be an late game structure because of how strong the warden is, even though you're literally not supposed to fight it (and also how obvious it is that he lied about the structure loot, because there's no way someone could remember off the top of their head that you could get _leads_ from ancient cities but still forget that Swift Sneak is a thing)
I will say, in a strange way living completely nomadic is an interesting playstyle to try. Especially when you get yourself a mule. It's not better, but it's an experience for sure
I thought of something that seems important. Minecraft is sort of a sandbox survival. It can do pvp and minigames and pixel art and bosses and progression and exploration and factory farming and city building and villager enslavement and complex machines, but it doesn't really lean too hard in any particular direction. This play-how-you-want nature means many different people play it for many different reasons. Clearly Jet plays it for exploration and progression, but Minecraft doesn't have those features to the degree that he desires. It seems he'd rather have the game be more like Terraria. He views this as an objective issue with Minecraft as a whole and doesn't realize that that's just not the game Minecraft is. This isn't a defense of his actions or anything. His manipulative framing of non-issues to sell a potentially illegal subscription service to his own fans is vile. He's creating a problem and selling the solution.
and without progression thats really hard to do, so Minecraft maybe should use progression for different items. For the elytra shulkers and dragon head its get diamond make nether portal find fortress. Slay enderman (or trade with piglins) make eyes of ender. Then you head to the stronghold slay the dragon head to find a end city and raid it
This could be applied to different structures. I mean your already have this for lots of structures through the cartographer, who has loads of depth, but I feel there needs to be more sources. Like maybe you can get a key from the jungle temple that opens something.
@@Halfendymion this is a fairly common sense observation, with the exception of calling selling a product “vile.” most people by now have took notice of the fact that minecraft is a game which lacks direction and fails to embrace any of its strengths and produce a polished experience; until today i wasn’t aware anyone viewed that as a strength. although i understand the perspective, i think it is still quite naive to think that direction is a bad thing for the game. it is possible to give the game direction without alienating players. i think the original videos ideas do this quite well for the most part. building and mining are the core of the gameplay loop and i think the changes to ore distribution are a step in the right direction of making that aspect a bit less boring and it especially helps with encouraging building along with the changes to transportation (though i have to admit i enjoy building, there is no mechanic requiring you to go the extra mile to put effort into your construction which i think balances this out quite fairly.) with how mojang seems to be repeatedly attempting(?) to do this exact sort of concept where they improve “aspects” of the game one at a time while still bringing additions to other aspects, i find nothing about the ideas out of place in the game. regardless, it’s a video about a mod so it wouldn’t actually matter anyways lol
Im also astounded he called the Enchanted Apple useless because the Warden "One shots you" when Mojang officially stated multiple times that it was NOT. DESIGNED. TO. BE. FOUGHT. They literally nerfed the xp it dropped since people could farm it and the Warden wasn't supposed to be rewarding to kill, it was designed to be an inpenitrable wall, not a post-game challenge. Its bonkers and gets my blood boiling everytime. ALSO the Enchanted Apples (at least in my experience) are like stupidly common for what they are.
@@theopendoorev no shit it's useless on a mob your not supposed to fight its uses are with fighting other mobs, are you really this slow or did you forget to think outside of just a singular mob?
I'm glad to see the community is turning against pessimism, for a while you couldn't go five minutes without seeing someone complain about how Vanilla Minecraft "has nothing to do" which is disproven not only by the fact that Survival Minecraft isn't a linear game but also the number of self-imposed challenges, custom maps, data packs, and minigames out there. Anyone who's spent more than 5 minutes on the internet would know all of this, if you don't wanna seek out new experiences then it's your fault that Minecraft isn't fun.
There's also the advancements tab, which I don't see ANYONE talking about and it's crazy because it does so much for the people who complain about a lack of direction or things to do in the game. The advancements are goals given to you that range from basic to extremely challenging and they push you towards interacting with every single feature in the game. People who complain they have "nothing to do" in Minecraft and that "all this stuff is useless" should consider doing an All Advancements run of the game.
The “Minecraft is so boring now 🙄” comments are very telling. Brother, it’s a sandbox game, you MAKE your own fun. And if you hate the newer updates, just play on older versions, or better yet, play another game. They’re acting like they’re paying money for every update.
I think it must have gotten to the point where people who were doing these videos were just talking nonsense compared to how some original videos had some merit to them.
@@RangerQwerty calling modding minecraft “pessimism” is a very purist stance that i do not think is good for the game at all. especially coming from a comment section where it seems almost everyone is absolutely fuming that someone provided a new way to enjoy the game (for an $8 fee)
@theopendoorev People don't have an issue with him making a mod. People are taking issue with his framing that his mod objectively makes the game better while his whole video promoting the mod relies on presenting things in the game in a way that is very dishonest and skewed. The mod having so little in it, being paywalled and being propped up by half-truths and outright lies make it come off like a scam more than a genuine attempt at a creative person sharing a new fun way to play the game, regardless of his actual intentions.
they’re not useless but they’re definitely way worse than they used to be, however ironically i think the ancient city is actually a step in the right direction to improving them
I mean, they are becoming more useful after 1.21 just hands tons of them to us, i think god apples are close to reachung a comfortable level of rarity that is not too rare to be useless, but not too common to ruin them. I hope they dont go overboard with them to us in more structures
why does nobody mention hes straight up blatantly lying in purpose when he says ore distrib doesnt change between biomes? everyone knows desert for diamonds, badlands for gold, mountains for ems and coal
I actually think he is being genuine with many of his suggestions. In one of his other infamous videos, "Why Minecraft Isn't Fun Anymore" he complains about Minecraft's progression and praises the more linear style of Terraria. JetStarFish doesn't get Minecraft's progression and exploration, and because of that, he doesn't understand Minecraft itself either.
3 More Misconceptions Jetstarfish has about Ancient Cities: 1. They need to be made rarer as to only be accessible late game. No, because deep dark only spawn under tall biomes, and a deep dark big enough for an Ancient City can only really exist in peak biomes. Ancient City spawning is thus predictable. When you’re in early game, you should just know to not dig under mountains and you never run the risk of encountering an Ancient City. What he’s done by making them rarer is just making late game players look under 4x as many mountains for an Ancient City than before. Like who tf is buying a map when their spawning is so easy to predict? 2. The Warden is the challenge of the Ancient City, which is why they’re meant for late game. No, you’re supposed to AVOID the warden. I think a lot of Minecraft players these days think the warden is a mob to be fought. NO, the point is that you’re supposed to be cautious and work your way around it. Jet mentions that the ancient cities add a bit of challenge to Minecraft and thus should be explored in the late game, but let’s be honest, once you’ve killed the Ender Dragon, you’re definitely going for an Elytra. And once you get one, the warden is pitifully easy to avoid. Thus, the only point in the progression where Ancient Cities are difficult IS the early game. Who tf would sneak around in an ancient city when you can just fly by the warden to loot everything? Thus, Ancient Cities ARE for before the End. 3. Ancient Cities are a challenge. No, they’re only a challenge when you make them one by fighting the warden. When you run upon an Ancient City in the early game, you can do two things. You could just turn away, or try to loot it. When looting it, as long as you know how to use wool (a very useful resource found in the cities btw) you can effectively avoid setting off most shriekers. And even if you get 3 strikes, you could always just afk 30 minutes for your shriek count to go back down to 0. Jet’s main misconception with the difficulty is once again that the Warden is meant to be fought. It isn’t. It an obstacle to make you weary and not careless. Also, this is not to mention that you can just stay out of the Warden’s sniffing range when it has spawned for 60 seconds and since it can neither smell nor hear you, it just despawns anyway. Anyway, I love Ancient Cities (if you couldn’t tell) and I see them mainly as an obstacle in the early game and a free loot zone in the late game.
Only reason I go to ancient city is for swift sneak. I get in, grab it and get out. You mess up once, and it's gg. It's tremendously satisfying when you nearly avoided the warden in a game of hide or die. Edit: Also, in my humble opinion, Ancient Cities are a great place to build if you can neutralize it.
For me, Ancient Cities are a great source of books and enchanted golden apples in the early game, which are especially helpful for the nether. And I consider Piglin Brutes more dangerous than the Warden. (In fact, I consider Piglin Brutes more dangerous than the Wither too).
@@neptunedaplanet49244As someone who got to half a heart on hardcore because the lava pool portal was at the literal center of the bastion It was heart throbbing seeing my health get dangerously low while wearing full netherite from 3 piglin brutes, only reason I lived was making them go through the portal. ...I had no idea about the peak boimes thing. I really should have figured that out after making my base in a peaks biome in the last three survival worlds I've been on, and finding a ancient city every time I made my strip mines (two, one time, after trying to mine in the opposite direction for a straight path to the diamond level and finding another). I just thought it was some weird luck I'd been having, or that ancient cities were easier to find than I thought. Thank you for this new information.

the copper bulb *was* revolutionary until mojang decided to remove functionality so that it would be *more like existing components* in a way that it did not need to be and more specifically SHOULDN'T be
I think I know why they changed it. If it was implemented only on java, then it might have been a coding issue on bedrock/windows edition, due to certain differences in how they handle code
I don't even know why they did that for bedrock because other things function differently on bedrock anyways, thats the point of it being an edition so they mightve legit just done it JUST because they felt like making things the same for both versions for once
It's still revolutionary, it can make several contraptions several times smaller and more efficient. Also, the one-tick feature was not removes so "it would be like more existing components" its because one tick doesn't exist in bedrock and they didn't know that when programming it into Java.

10:58 I'm a mod developer myself and most of the stuff he has mentioned in the video can easily be replicated by anyone who has basic Java and minecraft knowledge. The mods on curseforge are free cause people are passionate for the art they themselves want to create, that's very different from hiring a modder to do the work you want them to do. my biggest issue with the ancient city take is that he calls it an endgame structure because the warden is difficult to beat but completly ignores that the ancient city is the stealth section for the game and your not even supposed to encounter the warden in the first place, atleast if your good enough, its by far the easiest structure combat wise and requires just a pair of scissors and wool to completly beat it, which imo is an extremly good reason to go there as early as possible since it doesnt contain hostile mobs you can easily beat the whole thing the moment you spawned in a new world

He wants it to still generate but be even rarer and you only get a map to it after the dragon is beaten. So really all he's doing is making it more awkward, same with making the elytra 3 times rarer. It doesn't solve any "problems". It just makes things more inconvenient.

The Biomes aren't functionally the same they are all Functional to Survival, some better than others for certain, however if you brought some saplings over from one biome to a desert you can pretty much live there fairly fine. Make an auto chicken farm or villager trading for food & you can even exist in the end biomes. The beauty of this game to me is it can be as easy or as difficult as you want it to be. Want a challenge, take on a Ocean Monument in no Armour early game. Want to play it safe, get some totems & take on a Wither under bedrock.

Damn, a lot of people start to make video about JetStarfish recently now I watch his video for the first time and as a casual viewer, i didnt spend my time to fact checking everything he said, but still realize there a lot of blatant lie and gaslighting in the video. My breaking point is how he basically said having a base and you spend time to work around it (result in me spend most of my time in a single biome) to improve it is the problem . Aside the new cave biomes is somehow useless, even if you doesnt like building (like one of the main content in minecraft) from all the new block it provide, it still the introduction to renewable source of lava (no getting a mass amount of lava for a project from Nether is a pain in the ahh)
Yeah him calling the cave biomes useless reeks of him either not knowing anything about them and not having tried to look into it at all or straight up lying. Even if you don't care for decorative blocks, lush caves have an infinitely growing food source that is also a light source as well as a source of wood that is entirely underground so you never need to go to the surface. It also has the most clay of anywhere in the game. Dripstone caves, on top of having the most copper generation of anywhere, gave players the ability to INFINITELY GENERATE LAVA for the first time in the history of vanilla Minecraft. Plus the pointed dripstone itself has unique damage dealing properties because mobs take increased fall damage when falling on it and you can drop it on something's head for massive damage. The deep dark is also functionally a massive exp battery. He acts like the only thing they do is look pretty.

The mod should add not restrict. They should have added very rare drop items in the more ignored biomes that perform specific niches or are just decorations like beacons without buffs or ender dragon egg.
He also actually lied about ore distribution as different biomes already have different ore spawns like the Badlands having more gold than other areas, etc. Edit: Nevermind, you did cover that part later in the video.
Yeah, like, if I have any particular issue with Survival, it is that there is not enough encouragement to build infrastructure. The Elytra with Fireworks makes rail lines, horses, and ice highways obsolete. So I play with a mod that removes using fireworks with the Elytra.
Not to mention that the animals you want might not spawn nearby. It was the Attack of the B Team modpack, but I still remember having to go several hundred blocks with my friends to find cows. Or even in vanilla to find sheep
all of this would be so fine if it were a huge modpack that turns minecraft into a terraria-like rpg, and i think people would be more happy about this if it were the case
Glad to see my comment open your eyes more on the video. Nice video touching more on the situation, regardless of him backtracking this shit is borderline scummy. Fan content should be made with a passion and be free for the community, not something to be sold in a very questionable manner.
It's funny because his whole "Buy a map to find an Ancient City after defeating the Ender Dragon" Idea falls flat on it's face because there's literally no physical or arbitrary roadblock preventing you from just *FINDING* an Ancient City by accident. I've found Deep Dark biomes while just plain strip mining!
Also a big reason why I go exploring for biomes is for building bases, for example: There was thisone time where and my firends wanted an interconnected treehouse base, but we spawned in a Taiga biome. We spent quite alot of time looking for jungle biome to build the base
To everyone saying jetstarfish wants to make the game more like terraria, keep in mind terraria is an extremely building oriented game too (seriously, there are entire ores like 7 of the 8 gemstones and Iron which basically only exist for building in the same vein as copper in minecraft) which just happens to have more fleshed out combat than minecraft does. This man doesn’t want a sandbox like minecraft or terraria, he wants an action rpg where building is a means to an end rather than a focus.
3:53 also I love how he points out how ores distribution is the same but he puts a picture of a mesa biome that is one of the few biomes with a unique ore distribution lmao
Thinking about his “points” I don’t think he could be any more far off than how it is in the smp world I have with my friends. Using the base farthest away from spawn, my base is 49000 blocks away from spawn because I wanted to live in a mushroom biome and thats how far I had to go out to find one! We didn’t have a desert anywhere near any of our bases (only one of which is “close” to spawn), so we went 15000 blocks out to find a desert instead of just going to the nearest river for the sand we needed in our builds, just because we wanted to. We found two ocean temples before we found one desert temple. Builders and casual players like my friends and myself don’t always stay near spawn, we go out looking for the materials we need.
not now babe, i have to watch an 11-minute video essay exposing someone i've never heard of. oh wait no i remember jetstarfish's video. he made some good points, though not all of em were good, and then provided awful solutions to them ngl. minecraft's exploration is extremely flawed due to its fundamental misunderstanding of how to balance risk and reward, but it could be really good with several small tweaks, just because of how much variation and content there already is. these tweaks do not include "letting the stupid worldgen rng completely fuck you over and waste your time exponentially more than it already does"
Thanks for the shout out.

I just realized I said they’re are instead of there are

@@CERISTHEDEV bats shouldn’t summon the warden, if anything it makes it easier since the warden will be chasing bats instead of you

@kylezdancewicz7346 I think he himself knows that if he just pushed his "mod" as is without trying to tear down the base-game with half-truths and lies then nobody would have been interested because really all this datapack does is:
Make finding ancient cities less convenient.
More biome specific ores (this one is fine)

@@kylezdancewicz7346 I disagree on the he should be able to monetize the mod. He's creating a mod on an already established base game.
@@Mrgrass_ BRO FR
@@Mrgrass_ all minecraft needs is to be more than 1 mile long and 1 inch deep

In one of his other infamous videos, "Why Minecraft Isn't Fun Anymore" he complains about Minecraft's progression and praises the more linear style of Terraria. JetStarFish doesn't get Minecraft's progression and exploration, and because of that, he doesn't understand Minecraft itself either.
oof
3 More Misconceptions Jetstarfish has about Ancient Cities:

It is a boss, but all of these people like emeprorpenguin 1217, and sipover along with fish really think hes a FIGHTING boss, no like you said hes to sneak but like i said he is a boss. hes a special kind of boss

I really should have figured that out after making my base in a peaks biome in the last three survival worlds I've been on, and finding a ancient city every time I made my strip mines (two, one time, after trying to mine in the opposite direction for a straight path to the diamond level and finding another). I love Minecraft, I play it all the time, but I've only ever beaten the Dragon on my own once in my entire life. All of this guy's "improvements would force all Minecraft players to conform to his playstyle, a playstyle that doesn't support most of the sandbox elements of the sandbox game
its funny how jet explain how the dev are hard worker they need to get paid someway?
literally the mods made in curgeforge that are free, like he didn't think just putting a support pay thing. not a paywall.
why tho?
wait it is made for advertising.
yeah totally not bullsh-t like some codes are just replace item codes like they add items are easy to code in. they didn't even bother to animate stuff.
textures should i even try drawing in 16x16 items most of in the item are can easily do.
agreed like the code are easy you can ask someone code it for 1 hour each item.
The mods on curseforge are free cause people are passionate for the art they themselves want to create, that's very different from hiring a modder to do the work you want them to do. I don't know why people focus so much on the very normal aspect of someone paying someone else for their time and labor, when the patreon thing is what should be discussed
@@_Morallethere’s nothing wrong with hiring a modder but it’s the fact that he’s like “well I hired someone so I can’t make the mod free! god forbid I have to either pay for it out of my own pocket or not hire a modder and just learn to do it myself or not make it at all!” It’s disingenuous that him hiring a modder necessitates it to be a paid product.

''When every biome is the same there is no reason to go out and find new ones''
lets see what minecraft biomes has to offer
Taiga:Spruce trees
Plains:(maybe) best village type + flat (good for builds)
Jungle:Melons and a ton of Wood
Desert:One of the best early game structure (desert temple) and S A N D
Swamp:Slime spawns without finding a slime chunk
Savanna:uh... uhhhh
Forest:Good for aples when all the trees are mined down
Ocean:Trident
Beach:treasures for very good early game loot
Ice Spikes:Get a silktouch and mine ice
Mesa:Easy way to get a ton of gold without a gold farm
Mushroom Fields:no monsters spawn just mushroom cows (can be so op for earlygame food source)
--Now lets get to the cave biomes--
Deep Dark:Useless normaly but ancient city loot is so good
Dripstone Caves:Pointed dripstone can be used to make infinite lava source without entering nether/or can be used for traps and other fun stuff
Lush caves:Axolotls.
--Now lets check out the nether biomes--
(we skip nether wastes bc its not a fun biome)
Soul Sand Valley:Easy bones or soul sand for withers (also used in wither skeleton farms i think not sure tho im not an expert on it)
Crimson forest:Usefull for piglin trading without piglin brutes
Warped Forest:easy ender pearls without piglin trading
basalt deltas:Cool building blocks and magma cubes
this took a lot of time
@@barana6528 you put more time into this comment than i spent writing the script for that segment ☠️
gonna try to mention extra stuff for EVERY biome here
*THE SURFACE*
taigas also have villages, sweet berries (admittedly bad but VERY farmable), and foxes are cute
plains are easy to explore, due to being flat
jungles have bamboo, a unique wood type, and parrots (long live my parrot "Prymer" from my hardcore world)
deserts have villages
swamp has frogs for froglights, and bogged which give pre-end poison arrows and also mushrooms when sheared
savanna has villages, a unique wood type, and is the more livable biome with armadillos, also shattered/windswept savannas are cool
forests are useful for getting a LOT of wood
oceans also have shipwrecks, ocean monuments, and too many 1.13 features to name, not to mention they can be boated across for easy exploration
beaches are good for sand if you can't find a desert, and obviously are next to oceans
ice spikes are rare and look cool, therefore they are good
mesas/badlands are good for getting lots of terracotta, and are the ONLY way to get red sand
mushroom fields have lots of mushrooms, you can make brown mooshrooms for cheaper suspicious stew
*THE CAVE BIOMES*
deep dark has sculk which can be used for exp farms, also the warden is a really unique challenge
dripstone caves have increased copper ore rates, and are the only cave biome that spawns drowned (i think)
lush caves have lots of moss and clay, they also have dripleaves, glow berries, and azalea
*THE NETHER*
nether wastes are easy to explore, relatively safe, and have ore just laying on the ground
soul sand valleys have fossils which give LOTS of bonemeal, and are the only source of soul soil besides breaking soul campfires
crimson forests have hoglins which can be FULLY AUTOMATICALLY farmed for food and leather, along with a unique wood type and weeping vines
warped forests have another unique wood type, twisting vines, and are quite safe... unless you look at the endermen
basalt deltas have blackstone, which is a cobblestone alternative for the nether
*MORE BIOMES I WANTED TO MENTION*
frozen oceans are like ice spikes (lots of ice) but they ALSO have natural blue ice and you can ice boat across them
snow biomes have snow (obviously), powdered snow (from cauldrons or mountains), igloos, and strays for pre-end slowness arrows
snowy plains specifically are easy to explore and also have villages
flower forests have lots of flowers and often have bee nests
roofed forests have a unique wood type, giant mushrooms, and woodland mansions
meadows have an advancement and can have a tree with a guaranteed bee nest
cherry groves have a unique wood type, and pink petals can give LOTS of pink dye
normal caves have more exposed stone, and therefore more exposed ore
okay i think that's everything! this also took a lot of time
my biggest issue with the ancient city take is that he calls it an endgame structure because the warden is difficult to beat but completly ignores that the ancient city is the stealth section for the game and your not even supposed to encounter the warden in the first place, atleast if your good enough, its by far the easiest structure combat wise and requires just a pair of scissors and wool to completly beat it, which imo is an extremly good reason to go there as early as possible since it doesnt contain hostile mobs you can easily beat the whole thing the moment you spawned in a new world
I mean, you CAN fight the Warden, it’s just not recommended until you have big balls.
I watched JetStarFish’s video (without being made aware of this), thought “huh, interesting” and proceeded to forget the video existed
8$/month for features that billions of other mods had for a decade or features you can program with a tweaker mod (kubejs, crafttweaker, grovvy, etc) is crazy, yet it is marketed as never-seen before revolutionary content. I've seen modded projects that create entire games out of minecraft with dozens or hundreds of devs involved over many years (like GTNH), yet these projects are completely free and open source.
If the ancient city only spawns after you beat the dragon doesn't that mean it has to spawn in unloaded chunks? I'm not sure on that though
that’s not what he said, you get a map to it after beating the ender dragon
He wants it to still generate but be even rarer and you only get a map to it after the dragon is beaten. So really all he's doing is making it more awkward, same with making the elytra 3 times rarer. It doesn't solve any "problems". It just makes things more inconvenient.

I've played minecraft since back in 2011, After my brother who worked on the game showed it to the rest of us...And one of the first thing he told us was "This is sandbox game, Which means you build whatever you want" And it seems modern players forget minecraft IS NOT TERRARIA. This game is, And always has been, A sandbox first and foremost, Not a boss rush with some sandbox elements like terraria is. No, This game is a sandbox with some story elements you do...For blocks. You go to the ocean monument for the blocks, Not JUST gold and sponge. You go to the end cities for the shulkers, To hold more blocks, To the ships so you can fly, To make building and travel faster. COPPER, even..People call it useless but builders will agree this block is incredibly useful! Minecraft. Is. A sandbox.
Terraria is also a sandbox game what he wants is something that doesn't exist because it would be a terrible game
@@skullofglory10 as a terraria modder please enlighten me what the similarities are to terraria because i can not find them
As I said before, it's not possible he forgot about swift sneak but not glow berries.
My friends and I would just hate the ancient city change. Nothing makes it late game, and we love going with subpar gear. It's just fun. and I think that's all most things have to be.

Also what really pissed me off is that this is a very light mod that doesn’t change much in the game, while huge mods like create or Alex’s caves that took a long time to make are available for free, he’s just a massive scum
Jet: Ancient City should be endgame
Me spawning in my 1.19 world exploring an ancient city with iron armour, a crippling fear of the warden, like 34 stacks of wool and a dream
Damn, a lot of people start to make video about JetStarfish recently now
I watch his video for the first time and as a casual viewer, i didnt spend my time to fact checking everything he said, but still realize there a lot of blatant lie and gaslighting in the video.
@@IceFireofVoid I remember when theres mod that add spike and renewable lava into the game so you can make trap and lava farm and then years later we have dripstone with many unique properties that doing both of those like i cant even belive we have such a mod-like feature in the game and then Jetfish act like it doesnt exist
I never trust videos that say "This thing you like sucks!" for a good reason. Most of it is just doombait and crying for attention.
They're now so desperate for precious ad revenue that they're becoming the very example of "corporate greed" they whined about 5 days ago.

I legitimately thought this was a joke when I saw the thumbnail, but no this guy actually made propaganda for his Minecraft UA-camr conspiracy theory.
Man, I am looking forward to farm red sand in plains biome!
everything could be solved if we just had more mob variations and fireflies
In a nutshell:
Lets fix Minecraft Exploration by REMOVING the Exploration itself.
his mod feels like something an amateur mod dev could make on their own in like 2 hours
To be honest I only agreed with his stance on copper, because copper is an Ore and it should have more purpose than just being a building boock.
true, but i still find it dishonest that he left out the most functional thing you can craft with it
But why? How does copper being an ore mean it can't just be a building block?
(and to be clear, I also agree with the rail idea)
@@Crafty_boy70Because specifically Copper is nearly as common as _Coal_ yet has less utility than the first ore you're probably gonna encounter in the game. It wouldn't feel bad finding so much less Iron compared to Copper if the Copper had more of an actual use beyond some cool blocks and a telescope.
@@vulpineflare8252 Well if copper were rarer, then how would you reliably get enough to build with?
@@Crafty_boy70 trial chambers now, theres no reason to have both trial chambers and very common copper

THANK YOU!!!! i was wondering if this guy actually played minecraft when i heard that.
3:11 i just want to add another thing, what would happen when all of the ores are gone bc you mined them? (rhetorical question for jet)
I really like all the references to hbomberguy lol

It's funny because his whole "Buy a map to find an Ancient City after defeating the Ender Dragon" Idea falls flat on it's face because there's literally no physical or arbitrary roadblock preventing you from just *FINDING* an Ancient City by accident. I've found Deep Dark biomes while just plain strip mining!
5:03 as a geometry dash player, this made me almost jump out of my chair
ong i was decorating a part with that part of the song some time before and got really confused for a second
Also a big reason why I go exploring for biomes is for building bases, for example:
There was thisone time where and my firends wanted an interconnected treehouse base, but we spawned in a Taiga biome. We spent quite alot of time looking for jungle biome to build the base
ore distribution is not even the same like meisa (more gold) and caves are also biomes dripstone cave is a biome! edit oh you said it later
At this point, JetStarFish just wants a different game

I bet this guy would throw a tantrum if I were to have discovered an ancient city, on my own, before beating the ender dragon.
7:40 Not only swift sneak but I also found a prot IV book and flame!
Builders and casual players like my friends and myself don’t always stay near spawn, we go out looking for the materials we need.
not now babe, i have to watch an 11-minute video essay exposing someone i've never heard of.
oh wait no i remember jetstarfish's video. he made some good points, though not all of em were good, and then provided awful solutions to them ngl. minecraft's exploration is extremely flawed due to its fundamental misunderstanding of how to balance risk and reward, but it could be really good with several small tweaks, just because of how much variation and content there already is. these tweaks do not include "letting the stupid worldgen rng completely fuck you over and waste your time exponentially more than it already does"
The nuke joke got me, subscribed
