Being off social media tells you enjoy your summer which is good! Lots of interesting albums. The Zombies are one of my favorite UK 60’s bands, they never did anything bad back then. I want a UK copy of O&O but they are hard to come by and expensive too. Now I will take a listen to that Sloan record! Keep enjoying your summer and happy belated 40th birthday!
Hi there H. So glad all is well and your summer is going great. I've been spending my summer working with and spending time w my autistic niece. And of course listening to records: Traffic. John Barleycorn Must Die Jon and Vangelis. Friends of Mr Cairo The Band. The Last Waltz Steve Earle. Guitar Town Spooky Tooth. Witness Tonio K. Romeo Unchained Ride. Reissues, 4 EPs and Going Blank again. Stone Roses. Japan Release Glass Harp. 1970 Debut LP. Southside Johnny and Asbury Jukes. Hearts of Stone Donald Fagen. Nightly Nanci Griffith. Hi Hanna, good afternoon, welcome back, and I really miss you,and I have The Pretenders' Get Close vinyl brazilian press, and finally I have in CD, Viva El Amor, brazilian press too, congratulations by your video, cheers and have a nice weekend for you!!!!!!!!!
Great recommendations! I have added most of them to my Spotify playlist and my son and I plan on hitting a Record store this weekend so will be looking out for some of those. Also Sloan!!!! Love them one of my favorite bands of all time! And the Zombies album I too discovered this masterpiece last year! Underrated album! Another Aweome video! Thanks and cheers!
Hanna! So good to see you and glad that you're enjoying your summer. Looking forward to listening to some Beach Fossils and Legal Weapon. I also love X so I am intrigued. The photo you showed of Kat actually bears some resemblance to Exene. Was unaware of the cd deluxe edition fir Spilt Milk and that's going to the top of my buy list. At least the members of Jellyfish have given us some releases from other bands. I love the Lickerish Quartet eps, The Grays Ro Sham Bo is excellent as is Roger Manning's album Catnip Dynamite. Summer months usually finds me reaching for "old" favorites. X Wild Gift, Gang of Four Entertainment, Robyn Hitchcock Globe of Frogs, XTC's Skylarking and Drums and Wires and Electric Peace Rest in Peace ep. On an unrelated note, I was able to grab one of the Rhino remastered limited release for The Cars self titled album. Sounds really good. (Number 3708/5000) Thanks as always for the recommendations! Your fingerprints can be found within my collection. Take care!
Hey there, Todd! Always excellent to hear from you. I think you will really dig Legal Weapon. Yeah, Kat definitely resembles Exene a bit in that poster pic! As for Jellyfish and related, there are still some projects I haven't heard. Roger Manning's solo stuff I really need to hear. That's so great that you got one of those Rhino audiophile versions of the Cars s/t LP! I bet it sounds phenomenal! And I definitely love your list of summer faves! Cheers to you!
You're back! Have you heard the 3 Clubmen's EP yet? I was driving home from work the other night and a song of theirs was playing on Lincoln's great KZUM station. I heard Andy Partridge's voice and thought "no way," but he has a new group with Jen Olive. The EP has only 4 songs, but each one is great and has its own flavor. I've owned that Sloan album on CD for years but never listened to it! I'm excited! Thanks for all the recs. :)
New to the channel but finding it very interesting. My wife and I just started a vinyl collection again and really dig your taste in music . You refreshed our memory's with the selections you highlighted . Thanx and staying tuned !!
Welcome back! Cool stuff as usual. The Legal Weapon stuff is vital. I have those originals including the "No Sorrow" 12" with the oversized cover when they had Patricia Morrison on bass, worth seeking out. Have a fun rest of your summer!
I'm so impressed that you led off with the classic "Time of the Season" LP by The Zombies. Timeless and the best of the bunch IMO. As always, Thx for posting.
I remember them miming to their song 'Smash The Market Place' on a TV music show back then ('86), and the singer eventually stood on his guitar, 'playing' it with his feet 😅
@@mightyV444yeh mighty you just reminded me i need to replace the sleeves i have the red re ord and the one wirh wild blue yonder only clip.i recall.of them was a bbc retro series i watched a few times while in the dales yorkshire i think they had a 3rd record also bill carter and rhythm section those guys rocked mid late 80s he started another band later but cant recall.the name
Nice to hear from you again. The band Sloan is on my want list. This summer I've been listening to The Raincoats, Pink Lincolns, Coil, Beach House and BadBadNotGood. By the way your hair looks very nice. Cheers
Hi again! Oh cool, which album from Beach House have you been listening to, or several? I was recently gifted their debut on vinyl. The first album I got by them was Bloom. Such a great group. I love that you've been listening to the Raincoats, too! Thanks for the compliment on my hair! Hope you're having a fun summer! Cheers!
Love seeing Beach Fossils on the list; reviewed that album recently on my channel as well. Been following them for years, and would recommend Clash The Truth (2013) -- that's probably my favorite from them. Need to check out that Flyying Colours album as well. Been going down the shoegaze rabbit hole of late.
I see Screaming Blue Messiahs on the wall! I saw them live at a club in Detroit and they were incendiary. They never quite captured the magic in the studio, but holy moly, never saw anything like them before or since - live you can tell why David Bowie said they were one of his favorite bands back in the day. I also saw the Go-Betweens in San Francisco in 2000, interesting band, another group who never broke big. Saw Pretenders a couple times on Learning To Crawl tour - I watched Chrissy Hynde get grabbed by the leg on stage at Pine Knob - an outdoor venue outside of Detroit - by a guy who was trying to pull her into the crowd from the front row, she kinda freaked out, as would anybody. I saw Jellyfish in a tiny club on their first tour, they did an epic cover of Styx Come Sail Away and it blew my mind, very talented musicians, never broke either. They had a bubble machine burbling away on stage, lol. Anyway, love your shirt, and you're right about the Zombies, underappreciated. I'll have to try Legal Weapon, thanks, never heard of them. You have good taste, imho.
Hi Hanna, the fact that you like the off the beaten tracks records, makes you shine with all the gems you find ... here is some stuff i have found and have listened to recently Noises From The Cat Room ~ La-Vie Busy making noise ~ The Crunch All Sales are vinyl ~ The Heebie Jeebeez Reach The Beach ~ The Fixx
Happy 29th!! I'll have to get Odyssey & Oracle another listen as I still haven't gotten it yet. Jellyfish - I started listening to them because of one of your videos a few years back. Sloan! Wow! Yeah, they are pretty big in Canada among the Gen X crowd - so I've always taken them for granted as I've grown up with them on the radio and seeing them at shows/festivals. Shocked to see them mentioned on YT as I never would imagine them getting much exposure in the States. Fantastic band though (if you see them live they all switch instruments throughout the show) - back in the day (1992) we thought they'd be the next Nirvana as they were signed to Geffen. You might dig Eric's Trip - similar origin to Sloan, but different sound.
I thought the reason why you weren't popping up up here was due to my government placing weird restrictions on what is Canadian content, Canadian content creators are worried if they have the proper content. Anywho, glad you made it to drop a bunch more artists I've never heard of, it's good for me. I've been dancing with Robbie Robertson the past few days. Tell Chris I have extra Rush albums to trade for his extra AC/DC albums. In some cases I have three copies of certain Rush albums, I have lost track over the years. You guys have a great time while we witness the death of the summer. The Zombies I will have to give more attention to beyond the classic time of the season entry.
Thank you! We've gotten caught in a few storms whilst riding our bikes. One was a huge downpour! Sucked at the time but it was an experience! Sloan are ace! Cheers!
Excellent reviews as always Hanna, got my Ist Ist Protagonists vinyl from the Uk (I’m in Australia) after your review of the band, it is superb !! Have purchased tickets to see Bad Manners, & hopefully Morrissey when his dates are confirmed & happy birthday 🎉
Thanks for the comment! I'm thrilled that you were able to get a copy of Ist Ist's Protagonists! Definitely a favorite of the year so far! Have fun at those shows! We have some in October! I appreciate the birthday wishes, too! Cheers!
i like how u did 10 most recent. If i did top 10 listened to it be all lps from high school.Had lot more free time then.u realy nice, good see u back.enjoy whats left of summer
What a lovely comment! Thank you, Daniel! It was great to make an appearance again. Hopefully I can put out another video sooner rather than later! Enjoy the rest of your week!
Hi there! I so want that book but I checked the price and (GULP) it's expensive even used! Darn it! I'll keep my eye out, though! Thanks for the comment!
Had no idea about that book...but I've been a hardcore Jellyhead since 1990 with Bellybutton...the connection with Redd Kross...Steve McDonald plays bass on that album...that CD copy of Spilt Milk looks different from mine, yours is yellower or something...I have the 4CD boxset Fan Club which is going nowhere...via Jellyfish, I bought the Puffy (AmiYumi) records via Andy's involvement as well as the Merrymakers, Greys, Jason Falkner solo, Imperial Drag & now the Lickerish Quartet...no idea what Andy is doing now, but Jellyfish is one of my fave bands ever...too bad I never saw em live...I have the 2 2CD remasters plus some others, but I'm now kicking myself for selling the 2 coloured vinyl reissues of them...Bellybutton in blue & accordion cover & Spilt Milk in green...never bought the 7" set, didn't think I needed it, looking back, I would have bought the coloured one...
Great album to start with Hanna. I remember Odessey & Oracle blew my mind when I first heard it. Glad to see an appreciation for The Zombies. Cool shirt too!
Hi V! Love to hear from you! Odessey and Oracle took me a bit longer for me to appreciate for whatever reason, but now it's definitely a top record for me! Cheers to you!
Hey Hanna, welcome back and happy birthday! Beach Fossils and Flyying Colours have been fantastic releases from this year. I'm hanging out for the new Slowdive album next month, which I have high hopes for. Do you like Beach House at all? Their new EP was absolutely sublime. Also, I just want to say thank you so much for your Cocteau Twins video. I've been a fan of theirs for years, but somehow overlooked their EPs. I just started getting into them this week after watching your video and I'm SO glad I did! The more Cocteau Twins, the better! Gosh, how wonderful is music?!
Nice seeing you. Some bands that we need to take a look at.. In England last week at a punk festival, Rebellion..came across a band called, Millie Manders and the Shutup. Give them a look. We're fans now.
Welcome back Hanna, it’s always interesting to find out what you’ve been listening to. I’ll have to check out Legal Weapon as I’m an X fan as well. My most played album is The Murder Capital- Gigi’s Recovery. Another album that has also really caught my ear is The KVB- Artefacts. They’re a dark wave / post punk duo from the U.K. This particular lp is covers of 60’s psychedelic tunes. Sparks-the girl is crying in Her Latte is also getting a lot of play. I’m not really a big shoegaze fan but 3 of my favorite songs this summer definitely fall into that genre all released this year. Check out , Drab Majestry-the skin and the Glove bdrmm-pulling stiches Crush-stick in the Mud
Hey there, Kevin! Thanks for the warm welcome back! You're in for a treat with Legal Weapon. I think you will really dig them! Gigi's Recovery by the Murder Capital is a record I've been wanting to pick up. It's brilliant! I have sampled that on Apple Music lately. I love Drab Majesty and didn't know they had new music out. Cheers!
Hi Richard! Thanks! Yes, Bully FTW! What a gem of an album. Been enjoying watching some of their recent live footage on UA-cam as well. Really excited to get my hands on the Lush reissue of Split. Really need that one on vinyl! Cheers!
Happy belated Birthday, welcome back and greetings from Ann Arbor, MI Hanna! I am a relatively new subscriber to your channel but have really been enjoying it a ton. What great Summer choices that you have been spinning! I listened to that Flyying Colours - You Never Know while at work today, and I was blown away. Really cool stuff! I think I too will have to grab that vinyl as well. I am not sure how I missed that band, as it is right up my alley. I also listened to that Bully - Lucky For You while at work today, and it too is pretty darn amazing. I am really into female driven 90’s bands, so this too was a winner with its throwback feel. I am so jealous that you got to catch them with Best Coast. What a great line up! I am curious, have you heard the band Doused, and their album is called Murmur? They are a modern shoegaze band out of Philly. Really cool stuff! I ordered their vinyl from Flesh & Bones records and just waiting for it to come in. Pumped! Here is a UA-cam link to their album: ua-cam.com/video/X5adSHwUy8A/v-deo.html Also worth checking out, if you haven’t heard it, is Belgrado - Obraz. Really cool throwback to Joy Division, Siouxsie etc: ua-cam.com/video/pSt_fdZ_n4M/v-deo.html And also Asobi Seksu - Asobi Seksu. Japanese female led shoegaze adjacent band. Pretty cool stuff: ua-cam.com/video/VrAfJy1ODKE/v-deo.html All 3 are REALLY great albums and have been in heavy rotation at work thanks to UA-cam. So here is what I have been spinning a ton of this Summer so far: 1. Doused - Murmur (on UA-cam until my vinyl comes in lol) 2. The Muffs - The Muffs 3. The Sound - Jeopardy 4. Sugar - Copper Blue 5. Psychedelic Furs - Made Of Rain 6. The Troggs - Wild Thing 7. Rival Schools - Pedals 8. Dry Cleaning - New Long Leg 9. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless 10. Donnie and Joe Emerson - Still Dreamin’ Wild: The Lost Recordings 1979-81 I also really wanted to say thank you for turning me on to music I hadn’t heard yet like The Sound, Sad Lovers & Giants, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, The Chameleons, Gang Of Four, New Candys and Chelsea. Thank you again Hanna, and please keep inspiring me musically and creating great content! Shawn
Thanks for the Beach Fossils recommendation. Same as you, I'd heard of them but somehow never checked them out. Couldn't agree with you more on the Bully album. So good top to bottom.
Always love to see you do another video Hannah! I watch when you do one to see what I might have missed, forgotten about, or just generally get back to some ‘80s frame of mind. Love Jellyfish and ‘Odessey and Oracle’! I’ve got the vinyl with the other cover. Finally checked out The Sound on UA-cam, awesome band! Another one to start digging into. Have a great rest of the summer!
Hanna! So glad you're back! It's been "soundtrack summer" for me this year. I've been building compilations of soundtrack songs and just having a blast. Also picked up two Stan Bush re-issues (Rock Candy). And I've spun the latest Larkin Poe album a few times -- really good. I'll definitely have to check out the new Bully, too. Be good + take care!
Jared, hey there! Great to hear from you again! Soundtrack summer sounds pretty good to me! I'll have to look up those artists/bands you mentioned. Catch you next time!
Good to see you back kid😎 Don't forget to wear bright colors and a helmet on that bike. Once you hit 40 you don't bounce as well as you used to! Trust me there..😑 Saw The Zombies tour Oddysey & Oracle maybe 10 years ago - it became a very cool thing when bands would go back out and tour their catalog albums. RIP the great Kat Arthur. The early 80's and on were an INCREDIBLE time for the LA scene. Great stuff everywhere you went and something was always poppin' Rock on🤘😎🤘
Welcome back Hanna! Always great to see a new video from you. I do like Jellyfish. I don't have the album you mentioned, but one of my favorite songs is "The King Is Half-Undressed" (from Bellybutton). That song has a sort of Zombies vibe to it which is interesting since you mentioned Odessey and Oracle, which is an awesome album! I admit I don't know much about some of the other albums you mentioned, but I'll definitely check them out.
Hi David! I appreciate the welcome back! Ah yes, Bellybutton is a fine album from Jellyfish and I love it, too! Haven't played it in a while due to Spilt Milk always being heavily spun, but maybe this weekend I will play it! Hope you enjoy sampling some of these other albums! Cheers!
Love that Jellyfish album, but the main CD I listened to this winter ( hello from Aus ) is Rosalie Cunningham 😍 I think if you enjoy Jellyfish you’ll like her debut self titled album.....which I actually listened to earlier today! 😁😉
Cool choices. I’m on a Prefab Sprout kick as of late. Listening to the “Steve McQueen” album quite a bit. Side 1 in particular is stellar. Glad you are enjoying being outside on the new bike. Looking forward to other videos when you feel the urge. Take care!
Hey there, Cam! Steve McQueen, YES. That album has been on my wishlist for a while now and I haven't seen it yet. Maybe I will get lucky at an upcoming record show. Fingers crossed! Yes, work and making time for bike rides have taken up a lot of my time this summer, but listening to records and putting out more videos/chatting with you all is something I'd like more time to do! Cheers!
Thanks! So glad some of these new releases spoke to you! It can be difficult finding some quality new music, but the hunt is worth it! Enjoy, and cheers!
Great hearing from you again. I was wondering why we hadn't heard from you for a while. I've listened to a few recordings this summer myself. They're listed below: Mahavishnu Orchestra: Between Nothingness And Eternity Gang Of Four: Entertainment! Mandy, Indiana: I've Seen A Way Feeble Little Horse: Girl With Fish Jurassic 5: Jurassic 5 EP Cream: Disraeli Gears Black Dice: Beaches And Canyons Mission Of Burma: Signals, Calls And Marches PJ Harvey: I Inside The Old Year Dying Xiu Xiu: Ignore Grief Those are the ones that immediately come to mind. Looking forward to future videos. By the way, I especially enjoyed hearing about Odyssey And Oracle, which I should get to know better one day.
Thanks for another great video! I’ve also been enjoying discovering new music this summer (among them Beach Fossils and Motorama), having been out of the loop for years, so I’ve been dipping back about 15 years! Some great-some quite delayed-discoveries, most in the post-punk area: Ought, Constant Mongrel (check out their song “Action” if you haven’t heard it-my new favorite punk meets post punk slab of greatness), Cool Greenhouse, Deerhunter, Hecks, DIIV, Bodega, Screensaver, and so many others. Also Odessey & Oracle definitely makes my all time favorites list (not something I’ve tried to write down either), and many thanks for turning me on to Flyying Colours this video and Fehlfarben and Ist Ist in your previous video. Very similar tastes here in post punk, shoegaze/dream pop, jangle, punk, power pop, etc.
Hey Bruce! Ooo, I love DIIV from your list! I'll have to check out a few others you included in this comment! That's so awesome that you've been enjoying some of the gems I featured in this video and my last one. that makes me happy! Yep, all those genres are tops, so kudos! See you for the next video!
Thanks, Hanna! I think I'll review some of your previous post punk and jangle videos to see if there's something I've missed. Beach Fossils was a band I'd heard about for a long time and never explored until recently. All of their records are excellent, but I think my favorite might be Clash the Truth, as it brings a bit of post punk into the jangle. Two favorite genres for the price of one!
Excellent to see your haul of beautiful albums. I been buying for a lifetime and it's great to see how different the stuff is. I love the cover on Mt Fog! Anyway, best wishes..
Hi Alan! Thanks for dropping in! So glad you sampled Bully and that they made an impact! That's so fantastic you will be seeing them in November! No doubt it will be an excellent time!
So good to see you back Hanna! Great video. I've been catching up on my new buys mostly this summer, but I have spun a few albums several times. Extreme - Six is one I have been enjoying. Bob Dylan's new album Shadow King is another. Jason Isbell's Weathervanes. Jenny Lewis' Joy'All album is fantastic too. And lastly, Samantha Fish & Jesse Dayton's Death Wish Blues has gotten a lot of play. Enjoy your summer! Rock on Hanna.
@@TheOmahaIntrovert Life has been up and down this summer. Took a vacation to Kansas City with the family and that was a blast. Had surgery on my eye a month before that and it's been a slow recovery so far. I hope your summer has been awesome. Rock on Hanna!
Welcome back Hanna. Its always nice to see your videos pop up. Youve inspired me to find my Zombies album. I haven't played it for years. I'd love to see your top 100 albums. I think its always fascinating to see the albums people love most.
Great to hear from you again, Paul! Thank you! Odessey & Oracle is a masterpiece, isn't it?! Thanks for the vote on me doing a top 100 someday. It will be quite the challenge and there is still so much I haven't heard. I think I'd be more inclined to do a top 100 albums of the 80s first. We shall see! 😉
Happy Belated Birthday Hanna! Nice video with a bunch of names I haven't heard before. I've been obsessed with Spidergawd from Norway this Summer, they're on Crispin Glover Records. They are very much a vinyl band. Anyway, just wanted to drop a line to say I appreciate your vids. Cheers from Lincoln. - Steve
Hey Steve from Lincoln! Thanks for the belated birthday wishes! ☺️ Spidergawd is a new one to me. I'll give them a sample, thanks! Enjoy the rest of your week. Thanks for dropping in!
Also forgot to mention; I bought the CD of Ray by the Lemonheads back when it came out and my copy strangely enough has the Simon & Garfunkel cover listed on the back of the album, but the song isn’t on the CD!?!? Never brought it back to the store to complain just kept it as an oddity. Wonder if anyone else has this as well? Anyway borrowed a copy years later from local library and found the song actually on the CD as listed. Just a funny little oddity from that era. Lol
Nice to hear from you again. You asked what we had been listening to. We have not heard to many new records this summer as my wife and I have been riding motorbikes round Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand for a couple of months. However, I found a couple of things on youtube that were new to me Beth Orton & The Chemical Brothers - 'I Never Asked To Be Your Mountain' I have always loved Tim Buckley and this is a cover of one of his classics. I just randomly found this song and kept on playing it. Great Stereolab - "Nihilist Assault Group" (from "Mars Audiac Quintet") This album is great to play on your phone while you are riding in the countryside. This track is just fantastic....and I am not sure why. Boris - Just Abandoned Myself on the youtube channel "theskywaswhite" Live 19 May 2017, Max Watts, Melbourne The second half of this track is unbelievable. I once heard Kevin Shields talking about music being so loud it physically affects your body. This song has a physical impact on me. I have played this video so many times. For me it is like "lightning in a bottle") By the way, I am sorry that you are 40. However, as I am 61 years old, my sympathy is limited. All the best. Keep up the good work.
Hi David! Wow, you and your wife are experiencing life to the fullest this summer! What an adventure! Thanks for sharing some music that's been new to you. Some of Boris' stuff is mind-blowing for sure! I only started listening to Stereolab maybe 3 years ago. I've been enjoying the 3 CDs I picked up by them! I really appreciate the comment and positivity! Cheers!
Hey Hanna! Good to see you. Glad you’re summer has been going well and it’s a good thing to have distractions away from UA-cam! Beach Fossils is one of those bands that I always felt like I should explore but never have. I still need to listen to the new Bully album. I’ve been having a Sloan renaissance of sorts lately as they repressed a number of their records on vinyl. I was able to pick up a few that I’ve had on CD but always wanted on vinyl. Hope you enjoy the rest of your week! 🚲 ✌🏻
Jon, hey! Haha, yeah, this was probably the longest break I've ever taken away from UA-cam. I definitely do better with some social media breaks sprinkled in throughout the year. Hope to be catching up on your content as you are one of the few VC channels I watch that I'd say has more of a similar taste in music. Ohhh, definitely check out the new Bully LP. Damn, I think I'm addicted to it. Yeah, just saw your IG post of Sloan's Navy Blues! Simply awesome. I think I only have 3 albums of theirs on vinyl and then all CDs! 😉 Great to hear from you!
Welcome back, Hanna! I l just love these Flyying Colours and Beach Fossils albums! I didn't get these on vinyl yet, but I'm definitely considering it! I don't know Motorama that well yet, but judging by your comments, I should probably listen to their records, as I love post punk too. I can see you've got "Spooky" by Lush on your display! They are finally releasing remasters / reissues of Lush albums (they should be out this month, if I'm not misatken). And you got me interested in Mt. Fog's work already! I'll listen to her latest album, as I love all the references you mentioned when you described her sound (Cocteau Twins, Kate Bush, etc.). Thank you so much for releasing this video and for your recommendations!! :)
Hi Gilson! So lovely to hear from you again! As far as the Lush reissues, yes, I really want to get Split on vinyl! Hopefully one of my local stores can get them. I really hope you love that Mt Fog record. So unique! Hope all is well with you and that you're having a great summer!
I saw the Zombies live earlier this year. Colin Blunstone is about 80 years old, but man what a set of pipes that guy is still belting them out - superb!! I picked up a signed album at the gig which is very cool take care cheers
Hi girl...The Zombies album is just a perfect LP. Every song is terrific. Have loved it for a long long time. Did you know they sing a song (on a TV screen) in Preminger's film Bunny Lake is Missing? You can see the clip on UA-cam. Legal Weapon.. Oh yes. good pick. I have an original pressing of that LP and their second album, Your Weapon, also is excellent. (I'm sure you know The Avengers from SF fronted by Penelope Houston, my favorite female punk singer. They rule!) Always a pleasure to see your posts. You have a really fine appreciation for many types of music. I need to broaden my outlook. Right now I'm stuck in punk, hardcore and Jamaican music---but what a GREAT place to be stuck in...lol
Hi Willie! Totally agree about how perfect Odessey & Oracle is! So cool that you have original pressings of those Legal Weapon records. Wow. I'd love to find their 2nd one. And I indeed love The Avengers, too. I have a reissue of the record that was finally released in 1983. Penelope is so awesome! And don't ever feel like you have to listen to other genres of music. Enjoy what you like! I know I do! Cheers!
Glad to hear from you again. Now I know for sure I'm not the only one that owns a record of Motorama. Mine is called 'Dialogues'. Love The Zombies, The lemonheads and sloan. I've been listening to some jazz: Miles Davis - In A Silent Way, Don Cherry - Where Is Brooklin. Some new releases: Squid - O Monolith, youth Lagoon - Heaven Is Junkyard. Some old ones: The Teardrop Explodes - Kilimanjaro, Nico - Camera Obscura, C Cat Trance - Zouave. And a rather obscure one. They've been described as 'the greatest post-punk band you've never heard', but you've probably heard of? Glorious Din - Closely Watched Trains, an album released in 1987. Awesome record. I appreciate your channel a lot. There's so much great music to discover every time I watch your video's.
Greetings, Danny! Thank you! I'm glad you're familiar with Motorama! I haven't heard their Dialogues album yet. The other one I was gifted is Alps, which is also very good. I agree that Squid's latest album is very, very good! Kilimanjaro by Teardrop Explodes is a favorite! I am certainly intrigued by your description of Glorious Din. Something new for me to explore! So glad you're enjoying my videos! Till next time...☺️
Hey Hanna! Nice to see you! I’m liking the Messiahs, Kraftwerk and Isolation Drills behind you. All awesome albums! I’ve been enjoying repeat listens of the Shock of Daylight ep (my favourite the Sound recording so far), and fell down a rabbit hole of dark and doom jazz bands this summer. This includes Bohren and der Cub of Gore, Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation, Mount Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, and Hidden Orchestra. Also, on a more challenging note, the Lovecraft Sextet. As well, Ultravox the Systems of Romance never seems far from my playlist. Ever. Also discovered Electric Wizard this year. Oh the fuzz! And some decent electronic beats from Four-Tet, Burial, Aphex Twin and Future Sound of London. And to top it all off, been revisiting Simple Minds New Gold Dream, and Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call. I guess I’m just all over the place…
Thanks, Murray! So nice to read this comment from you! Ah, I love Shock of Daylight from the Sound as well! Great pick! I have to say I'm not familiar with "doom jazz" but I certainly am intrigued now! Since you provided a list, I will be sampling some of those bands! I have Systems of Romance by Ultravox and love it, too! Great picks! A big wish list item for me is Simple Minds' Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings. Fingers crossed I find that soon!
H. Glad you’re back, You’re a young 40. C’mon is my favorite Lemonheads album. I played the cd all the time, even more than Ray. What’s the Bully loser edition? Mines black. Lucky and S.Egg are getting played a lot here too. Stream and vinyl
Thanks for all the great ideas. I have not really been discovering new stuff this summer. The only album I played beginning to end is far far away from punk: Tony Bennett "Bennett on Holiday" where he covers Billie Holiday songs. Everything else has been very random. Definitely love your taste in music.
That Mellotron on intro of "Changes" just gives me chills every time. Odessey and Oracle is just sooo good. Temples album "Sun Structures" borrows a bit from Odyssey. Worth checking out!
Hello Hanna- nice to see what you’re listening to this summer. I’ve also been spinning the Beach Fossils a lot. I just received comp of early Primal Scream singles/BBC tracks which is amazing jangly goodness and this will be the soundtrack to the rest of my summer for sure! I will check out Motorama especially after your dropped Felt reference. Take care. / Matt
Great to hear from you Matt, and I hope you are enjoying your summer! Glad to hear you've been soaking up the sweet sounds of that Beach Fossils record, too! Oh, I didn't know about that Primal Scream BBC tracks/early singles release! I shall look it up! I really love their Sonic Flower Groove album. I should pull my copy out and enjoy it again. It's been a while. I hope you like Motorama, and speaking of Felt, I picked up another one of their records which I will show in the next video. Can't say it's my favorite by them, but anything by Felt is nice to own! ☺️
As usual, some good suggestions for me to check out. I'm intrigued by that Bully band. Also, its always worthwhile to be reminded of the greatness of Sloan and their most recent album "Steady" is another winner.
Hey there! Thanks for watching! I hope you like Bully after sampling this new one. It's so catchy! I love Steady by Sloan, too and it was one of my favorite albums of last year!
Hey Hanna ! Nice to see a new video from you. Happy 40th Birthday 🎂. I’ve been watching you for at least 3 years. And you present stuff that nobody else shows. So thank you for that. I love Odyssey and Oracle by The Zombies. “This Could Be Our Year” , “Care of Cell 44”, “Hung Up on a Dream” & “Time of the Season” plus “Beechwood Park” are my favorites !! I saw The Zombies around 2010 and they sounded great. I believe they are still touring…but 80 years old is coming for them. I couldn’t find “Legal Weapon” yet. But I already had “Jellyfish Spilt-Milk” from an earlier video of yours. Flyying Colours I liked very much. “Bright Lights” & “Goodbye to Music” had my interest !!! Sloan record is excellent !! I can see why you would have this one playing over and over !! Lemonheads Come on Feel sounded good and I checked out It’s a Shame About Ray…very cool cover of Mrs Robinson !! Mt Fog is indeed quite different …not really my thing but it’s sort of pretty and compelling…giving it a shot 😊 I hope you don’t mind a little criticism…you camera is far away from your face. I liked the way you used to do it. I guess that may sound silly but I hope not . Don’t get me wrong…your brilliant content is why I tune in. I have learned so much from you about post punk and shoegaze etc. And we both love The Who …especially Live at Leeds and Sell Out !!! Lastly Bully is interesting but I haven’t really had time yet to have much of an opinion. It’s funny because I have been playing Wordle for awhile…and todays word was wait for it …BULLY …Lol !!! Great video as always !!! I just wanted to post that it’s good to hear from you again. Keep spinning tunes and take it easy !!!😊Bye …🎸🎸🎸
Thank you for the birthday wishes, Richard! I appreciate your loyalty to my channel! Great favorites you picked off of Odessey & Oracle! So cool that you checked many of these out that I featured here. Yeah, Lemonheads do cover Mrs. Robinson very well! I thought I was actually sitting pretty close to my phone when filming, which is what I use to film. I like to show the records in the back instead of an extreme closeup of my face. 😂 I appreciate the suggestion, though! And yay for The Who! LONG LIVE ROCK! I will be back soon! Hope all is well with you, my friend!
Hello Hanna. Some good summer listening there. Nice to hear about Bully, I have yet to hear that record but I own their first record and it's a pretty good debut. I really dig the Flyying Colours record, not only shoegaze but almost a new wave vibe to it as well. hope your summer is a great one! Take care.
Hi Rando! Yeah, Bully's debut is really good, as are all of their records in general, but the new one is extra special to me. 😉. Hope you like it after you hear it! Yay, another Flyying Colours fan! 🎉👏🏻 Great to hear from you! Enjoy the rest of the week!
Even though I've seen the Beach Fossils - Somersault around at my local store (and will probably be my next foray) and saw it well-reviewed, I too only just this summer picked up Bunny and I too have been spinning it a lot. I also have to mention that in 2023 with the ever-increasing cost of vinyl, I thought Bunny was tremendous value; for approx. $25 CAD you get a poster, and a well-pressed color variant that matches the album cover (I have the same one as you) that comes in a MoFi-styled inner sleeve and most important of all, sounds amazing. I was very impressed. I've seen Sloan multiple times but this last tour (which I caught last Feb. 1st) was the best; it was a monster 2-set with an intermission 30+ tunes, played tight with energy and helped by the fact they seemed pleased with their latest album Steady and they seemed to know what most Sloan fans thought...which is: "wow, this new album is REALLY good". I am aware of that repress of but (financial limitations #1)...I need to figure this one out before it's too late. I'm also REALLY hoping for a 20th anniversary repress of Action Pact (I mean seriously). I own Bully's Sugaregg but haven't made my way to the new one; as it's your top pick, I will have to give it some time (along with Jellyfish which has long been on my music 'to do' list...in fact I think I just saw Mazzy talk about that 7" inch box set but holding out for vinyl versions). I'm a fan of JH and Lemonheads; I've had my green variant of It's A Shame About Ray since 2016 (it sounds great) and more recently picked up Vasrshons II on a deal, but I have not yet picked up that Come On Feel The Lemonheads (financial limitations #2...but probably will eventually). My frequent listens as of late are Bart Davenport - Game Preserve 20th anniversary (all-analog), Death Cab For Cutie - Asphalt Meadows (Acoustic); which I might like even more than last years' regular release of the same album and was on my top 10 of 2022, Bad Spell - Don't Go Out Tonight, M. Ward - Supernatural Thing, the 2023 OJC Bill Evans Trio - Waltz For Debby (is just stunning) and I finally picked up Eels - The Deconstruction (2 x 10") on marked down warehouse deal from that big rain forest company. I'm glad that you took time off to recharge but am also glad to see you back. Great video!
Just the other day, I listened to, "The Last Waltz." A sad coincidence being that just today I learned of Robbie Robertson's death. Robbie Robertson (RIP). Odessey & Oracle by The Zombies was one of my favourites in 1968. It remains as such. Cheers -- W
I love Jellyfish so much. I could type on and on about them. I’ll tell you just a couple of things. Go try to find their biography “Brighter Day” it’s a amazing read. I had it finished by the second day of starting to read it. Also I was lucky enough to see them in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and New Orleans in the”Spilt Milk” tour. There’s a completely crazy story about all four of those cities we traveled to. Back in the 1990s when I was young in my early 20s we were complete maniacs and we lived crazy enough to have content for the best biography or memoir.
Hanna, always nice to see a new video from you . Really looking forward to the new Pretenders in September. Love that you have Lush and GBV on your wall there. Keep on Rockin!!
Do you have the Jellyfish box set from 2002 (Fan Club)? It's demos and live tracks, and probably pretty hard to get these days. But back when it was released it was a terrific find.
Swell video, Hanna. It's cool to hear what you are digging on. Speaking of Lemonheads, they were playing in town and my sister works on weekends driving the shuttle bus for a hotel and she drove the Lemonheads to their gig back in November. They gave her a signed CD.
Glad to see you back. I got a european pressing of Belly Button which is fantastic but Split Milk is way out of my price range, it needs a repress. My record store got an influx of used Red Lorry Yellow Lorry so I been listen to a lot of their albums. I wish Juliana Hatfield would accelerate her reissuing of past albums because my favorite How To Walk Away seems like a far way off. How is that Screaming Blue Messiahs? There has been a pressing of it in my record store for over a year and a half and I keep passing it by.
Greetings Matt! It would be great if Omnivore did another round of represses of those Jellyfish records. I think there may have been some issue that popped up that they can't do that again, but I don't remember what the reason was. I love RLYL so much! I still need to find 3 of their studio albums on vinyl. So hard to find their stuff! How to Walk Away is a beautiful album from Juliana. I would love a vinyl issue of that, too, as well as Bed and There's Always Another Girl. I love the Screaming Blue Messiahs. As always, sample it first before buying, but I hope you like what you hear! Bikini Red from them is also stellar!
Glad to have you back. I just started to listening to your shows. Started with the Powerpop Show and saw you're into a lot of the same music as me. Then I saw your a collector. So I stayed to see if I could pick up any bands I've not heard of, or new likes if you will You see I spent my time in the club scene in SoCal in my 20s during the indi days of the 90s. ya I'm a boomer. But still going strong and playing music in different bands. But my likes remain. I've got a large vinyl and CD collection that I've acquired over the many years as well as mp3. I guess you can say music is the soundtrack of my life. Anyway just wanted to show my appreciation to your shows and give you props for keeping our music alive. THANKS!
Luv Odyssey & Oracle,an absolute Psych Rock classic.Never Hear The End Of It by Sloan has been one of my favourite albums since the late 2000s when I was in high school, like how u described it has a great flow with each song.I saw them live back in 2018 and they were fantastic and even posted some highlights from the show on my Instagram stories on my main page…gr8 video Hannah!
It's great to see you uploading more content. Kind of like seeing a friend again you haven't seen in a while. If you like the Beach Fossils, you might also like The Shins and Broken Bells. Broken Bells is a band composed of Danger Mouse, and the lead singer and guitarist from The Shins, James Mercer. I have worn out many of their albums. Also be sure to give Broken Bells, The Ghost Inside video a watch. It stars Christina Hendricks in a science fiction tale that is totally awesome.
Thanks for the welcome back! Very kind of you! I love the Shins and I thought I made the comparison here with Beach Fossils. Broken Bells is a project I never explored even though I heard of, so thank you for giving me the nudge to finally check them out! Cheers!
@@TheOmahaIntrovert I guess great minds think alike in the comparison to The Shins. Broken Bells debut album is my favorite, but the follow up After The Disco is also very good.
Congratulations on reaching the top 40. Odessey and Oracle has never clicked with me with the exception of a few songs. I picked up the Radiation Records Legal Weapon album. I recently got an original of their 2nd album. The vocals and guitars are great. My most listened to album this summer is The Beatles Second Album.
Hey, Pat! Great to find you here again, and it's good to be back, at least for now! Oh, very envious that you found an OG of Legal Weapon's 2nd album! Hopefully I get lucky and find it one day. Thanks for the belated 40th birthday wishes! Many people have told me that the 40s were their best decade, so I welcome it. I haven't been watching any vinyl community UA-cam videos this summer, but it looks like you've been quite active, and that's awesome! I hope to get back to the viewing soon. Cheers!
Glad to hear you're enjoying the summer and doing lots of non-record related stuff. Also really glad to see all the "newer" records. I think it's great to financially support the bands that are actually still playing today. You have the same version of Odessey and Oracle that I have. I think my favorite song on there is Friends of Mine. Rock on Hanna!
Thanks so very much, Randy! Hope you have been doing well! I feel like sometimes I get too stuck in the 80s because that's what I love the most but I love mixing it up with these newer, fantastic releases, too! And "Friends of Mine" from O&O is a great tune! Rock on!
Welcome back and good to see you spinning a whole good variety of music here so I've been a Sloan fan since the 90s these guys are huge in my native Canada and were and still a huge concert draw and I got to see them as opening act in 2007 opening up for the police on their 30th anniversary reunion tour in my city of Edmonton Canada in a stadium and Sloan was awesome as an opening act
Hi there, George! I appreciate the welcome back. Sloan are a top-notch band and I have always wanted to see them live. Maybe I'll get that special chance someday! Later!
Hello 👱♀Hanna; Good to see you back. Hope all has been well & you are enjoying the warm weather. Like the Pretenders T- shirt, & receiving a new 🚴♀bike as a Birthday present is a wonderful gift. Good to hear you are still digging for vinyl gems. The Zombies LP is a rainy day, book read, sipping wine type of record. Like the colored vinyl on the Beach Fossils & Flying Colours. Lethal Weapon, Kat appears to be channeling a Lily Munster/ Blondie styled look. ( Hair, Makeup ) Lots of very good vinyl finds. Stay well, keep digging. Take care, 🙋♀Tina & 🙋♂Pat!~ P.S. Belated 🎂Birthday wishes. Age is just a yearly❓Number.
Hi there, Tina and Pat! I know it's been a while and it's so great to have you here again! Yeah, Kat Arthur from Legal Weapon certainly looks goth-ish in this poster pic! I appreciate the belated birthday wishes, too! Thanks so much! Hope all is well and good in your world!
Well, thanks for introducing me to Legal Weapon. When I heard, "Janis Joplin of punk", I pretty much had to check them out. I don't hear it myself, but I dug it anyway. Ha. Shame they're not so well-known. Not only good vocals, but good musicianship as well.
Nice spins! Patricia Morrison was in the Bags first, then Legal Weapon, then Gun Club, which makes a lot of aesthetic sense. Those albums deserve a properly deluxe reissue. I mentioned the new Motorama album, Sleep, and I Will Sing earlier this summer on yr channel in June I think. Thanks for the reminder to revisit Beach Fossils and Flying Colours. Just this past Friday there was a batch of psych pop you might dig from Holy Wave, The Bright Light Social Hour and Rain Parade's first album in 38 years. Also recent albums from Sweden's Me And My Kites, Night Beats and Estrella del Sol are worth hearing, which I covered in my Psychedelic Psummer piece.
Hey again! I just have Calendar and Alps from Motorama so far. Is their newer stuff less post-punk? I need to check out their latest. Thanks for the list of new releases that seem up my alley! I will DEFINITELY be sampling all those and can't wait . Wow, a new one from Rain Parade (head explodes)! Cheers!
@@TheOmahaIntrovert I'd say their sound is pretty consistent in that they always mix in some jangle pop, dream pop and new wave elements with the post-punk. You can still hear the Felt influence too, good call!
UA-cam has been deleting channels from my feed and yours is one of them. I hit the notification bell so that should fix that. I've never heard Bully and I like Best Coast so I'll have to check them out. Personally I've been playing a lot of records that never get played the past few months. Yesterday, Judy Mayhan and her album Moments. She was an under recorded folk singer from the sixties. Moments is from 1970 and then she had a self titled album in '71. She's in the rarely heard and never talked about category. Good to see you again!!
Hey Ed! I don't quite know what to say about UA-cam deleting channels. That's awful! I'm glad you hit the notification bell for my videos! I appreciate you sharing what you've been enjoying with Judy Mayhan. Hope this summer has been treating you well!
you have hooked me up with some bands i have never heard of ..so many thanks for that im a 58 year old well travelled to many gigs ( from Frank Zappa to the pretenders to ac/dc and many many more) over the years and i love my music so it will be very interesting to hear some of your choices again many thanks for sharing them.
Thank you for the kind words and for checking out this video! It sounds like you have been to some incredible shows! I'm sure you cherish all of those experiences! Hope to see you back on my channel again! Cheers!
Wow, you have incredibly good taste! I've had that Date copy of "Odessey & Oracle" for about 20 years, got it for $4 back when vinyl was cheap. Will def have to check out Flyying Colours, Motorama, Mt Fog, Bully and Legal Weapon and revisit Sloan. Thanks for all the cool new recommendations, I've been slacking a bit in my good new release listening, gotta get my head out of the '60s once in a while.
Thanks so much for checking out this video! Very cool you got this Date version of Odessey for $4! Hope you like the bands I featured here after checking some more out!
Welcome back Hanna! Thanks for showing that Lemonheads album! I haven't picked it up yet. I have it on cd but really want those demos and bonus tracks not to mention the Juliana Hatfield connection. I'm glad you're having a great summer. 🌞 🚲
Hi Christian! Thanks so much! You definitely need this new Lemonheads reissue. Luckily my local store was able to order it for me. Demos and alternate versions of songs from some of our favorite albums really make these reissues special! Hope you're enjoying your summer as well! I hope it hasn't been too terribly hot in your area. Be well!
Curious if you've ever heard the band Adorable's album Against Perfection? The LP has a slightly different track list and unfortunately does not start out with their best song Sunshine Smile and is left off completely so the best track sequence is available on CD and cassette but that album is awesome. 1993 Creation records. Its English shoegaze pop I'd say. :)
I have indeed! I gave them a mention years ago in one of the first shoegaze feature videos I did. I showed a compilation I have that contains Sunshine Smile. What a great song! I appreciate the comment!
Welcome back! I love Beach Fossils. Bought “Bunny” but haven’t listened yet. My fave is “Somersault”. My highest summer spins include reissue of Grandaddy “Sumday”, Flaming Lips “The Soft Bulletin”, and Beach House “Once Twice Melody”. Take care Hannah looking forward to that finds video.
Hi Hanna: Great to hear/see you again! Here's what I've been playing this summer in no particular order. Number 10 is not an album but the singles I tend to crank up when playing my mixes! 1. Orville Peck - Bronco, 2. Steve Miller - Fly Like an Eagle, 3. The Suburbs - Si Sauvage, 4. The Blues Project - Projection, 5. Bruce Springsteen - Live At The Roxy Theater Hollywood, 6. Dillinger 4 - Civil War, 7. Mary Chapin-Carpenter - Come On Come On, 8. Beth Hart - Live at the Paradiso, 9. English Beat - What is Beat?, 10. Singles that I’ve been cranking up: Soraia, “Every Motion”, Bad Manners, “Inner London Violence (Live)” Altered Images, “Don’t Talk to Me About Love”. I'm looking forward to spinning the Sloan LP you recommend.
Thanks for stopping by, Dave! I liked reading your list! Love Altered Images and the Suburbs! Fab tunes! I really hope you like this Sloan record! Cheers!
@@toddhill7483 Saw them this past April on the anniversary of Prince's death - Bobby Z and Doctor Fink from The Revolution joined the 'Burbs on stage for the encore - It was a great show!
Love that Zombies album! So good! That Beach Fossils record is great. Such a cool 80s vibe! I'd never heard it until you mentioned it. You have turned me on to several great records over the years! Good to see you back!
Hey there! Glad you came back for this video offering! I know it has been ages! Makes me happy to know that I introduced you to several great albums! Yay! Cheers!
Nice to see you back, cracking recommendations. The Sloan one is top of my list they did a great track called underwhelmed, forgot all about it😁👍
From your recommendation, I am absolutely loving that Beach Fossils record. Thank you!

I just found a copy of that Screaming Blue Messiahs album recently. Very cool that you have that one!
Hi Will! Yes, my friend Jess generously sent me that and their followup. Really loving them! See you next time!
Cheers!
@@TheOmahaIntrovert I was listening to 7 by Beach House and Odyshape by the Raincoats.
I still need to hear that 7 album! Excellent!
Hi Hanna, the fact that you like the off the beaten tracks records, makes you shine with all the gems you find ... here is some stuff i have found and have listened to recently
Noises From The Cat Room ~ La-Vie
Busy making noise ~ The Crunch
All Sales are vinyl ~ The Heebie Jeebeez
Reach The Beach ~ The Fixx
Happy Birthday and glad to see you back. Checking out Sloan at Massey Hall. I like it. Thanks. it's raining here and I've got a bike and rain gear!
Great to have you back Hanna hope you start making more videos love your taste in all different styles of music again welcome back
What a lovely comment! Thank you, Daniel! It was great to make an appearance again. Hopefully I can put out another video sooner rather than later! Enjoy the rest of your week!
So great to see some love for Jellyfish! I just read “Brighter Day,” a wonderfully written book about the band’s history. Highly recommend!
Good to know. Looking forward to checking that out.
Spilt Milk.... wow, what a classic. I wish there was an affordable vinyl pressing in print. I love the CD as well.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, we really need a vinyl reissue of Spilt Milk!
Thanks as always for giving me some new bands to check out. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
It's my pleasure! Love chatting about the lesser-appreciated bands that are outstanding! Hope all is well!
Check out , Drab Majestry-the skin and the Glove
bdrmm-pulling stiches
Crush-stick in the Mud
Hey there, Kevin! Thanks for the warm welcome back! You're in for a treat with Legal Weapon. I think you will really dig them!
Gigi's Recovery by the Murder Capital is a record I've been wanting to pick up. It's brilliant! I have sampled that on Apple Music lately. I love Drab Majesty and didn't know they had new music out. Cheers!
Hi Hannah, good to see you again! The Zombies album is really really good! I have both the OG and reissue.
Hey there! Thank you so much! Great to hear from you again. Yay for Odessey & Oracle! Enjoy the rest of your summer!
@@TheOmahaIntrovert You’re welcome! I am enjoying what’s left of the summer.
You too my friend.
Yay Hanna! Agree with you on Bully as you would probably already know. Spooky in the background. There's Lush reissues out soon!
Hi Richard!
Pumped! Here is a UA-cam link to their album:
ua-cam.com/video/X5adSHwUy8A/v-deo.html
Also worth checking out, if you haven’t heard it, is Belgrado - Obraz. Really cool throwback to Joy Division, Siouxsie etc:
ua-cam.com/video/pSt_fdZ_n4M/v-deo.html
And also Asobi Seksu - Asobi Seksu. Japanese female led shoegaze adjacent band. Pretty cool stuff:
ua-cam.com/video/VrAfJy1ODKE/v-deo.html
All 3 are REALLY great albums and have been in heavy rotation at work thanks to UA-cam.
So here is what I have been spinning a ton of this Summer so far:
1. Doused - Murmur (on UA-cam until my vinyl comes in lol)
2. The Muffs - The Muffs
3. The Sound - Jeopardy
4. Sugar - Copper Blue
5. Psychedelic Furs - Made Of Rain
6. The Troggs - Wild Thing
7. Rival Schools - Pedals
8. Dry Cleaning - New Long Leg
9. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
10. Donnie and Joe Emerson - Still Dreamin’ Wild: The Lost Recordings 1979-81
I also really wanted to say thank you for turning me on to music I hadn’t heard yet like The Sound, Sad Lovers & Giants, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, The Chameleons, Gang Of Four, New Candys and Chelsea. Thank you again Hanna, and please keep inspiring me musically and creating great content! Shawn
Thanks for the Beach Fossils recommendation. Same as you, I'd heard of them but somehow never checked them out. Couldn't agree with you more on the Bully album. So good top to bottom.
Lucky for You by Bully FTW, right? I listened to it AGAIN today! I'm also glad I introduced you to the Beach Fossils LP! It's gorgeous! Take care!
Good to see you back kid😎
Don't forget to wear bright colors and a helmet on that bike.
Once you hit 40 you don't bounce as well as you used to!
Trust me there..😑
Saw The Zombies tour Oddysey & Oracle maybe 10 years ago - it became a very cool thing when bands would go back out and tour their catalog albums. RIP the great Kat Arthur. The early 80's and on were an INCREDIBLE time for the LA scene.
Great stuff everywhere you went and something was always poppin'
Rock on🤘😎🤘
Welcome back Hanna!
Cheers!
Love that Jellyfish album, but the main CD I listened to this winter ( hello from Aus ) is Rosalie Cunningham 😍
I think if you enjoy Jellyfish you’ll like her debut self titled album.....which I actually listened to earlier today!
Cheers!
Great new music suggestions! I very much enjoyed Mt. Fog, Flying Colours and Beach Fossils! It's so challenging to find new stuff.
Thanks! So glad some of these new releases spoke to you! It can be difficult finding some quality new music, but the hunt is worth it! Enjoy, and cheers!
Great hearing from you again. I was wondering why we hadn't heard from you for a while. I've listened to a few recordings this summer myself. They're listed below:
Mahavishnu Orchestra: Between Nothingness And Eternity
Gang Of Four: Entertainment!
Mandy, Indiana: I've Seen A Way
Feeble Little Horse: Girl With Fish
Jurassic 5: Jurassic 5 EP
Cream: Disraeli Gears
Black Dice: Beaches And Canyons
Mission Of Burma: Signals, Calls And Marches
PJ Harvey: I Inside The Old Year Dying
Xiu Xiu: Ignore Grief
Those are the ones that immediately come to mind. Looking forward to future videos. By the way, I especially enjoyed hearing about Odyssey And Oracle, which I should get to know better one day.
Thanks, Stuart! Great to be back! Love several of your selections that I'm familiar with...especially Mission of Burma and GoF! Right on!
Thanks! Maybe I'll start with Clash the Truth then!
Excellent to see your haul of beautiful albums. I been buying for a lifetime and it's great to see how different the stuff is. I love the cover on Mt Fog!
Anyway, best wishes..
Thanks so much for watching! Yes, the artwork on the Mt Fog record is absolutely fantastic and beautiful! Hope to see you here next time!
Hi Hanna. Not heard of Bully before so had a listen. Loved them straight away and will be seeing them live in London in November. Thank you.
Hi Alan! Thanks for dropping in! So glad you sampled Bully and that they made an impact! That's so fantastic you will be seeing them in November! No doubt it will be an excellent time!
Listening to my fav album of all time … Depeche Mode - Violator 🌹 … love your channel 👍
What an outstanding pick for a favorite album of all time! Thanks so much for checking out my new video!
Hiya, Brian! How's life been treating. you? Thanks for sharing your top spins of the summer! Rock on!
psyched to see that Screaming Blue Messiahs "Gun Shy" behind you. few albums get my blood pumping like that one. total gem.
However, I found a couple of things on youtube that were new to me
Beth Orton & The Chemical Brothers - 'I Never Asked To Be Your Mountain'
I have always loved Tim Buckley and this is a cover of one of his classics.
I just randomly found this song and kept on playing it. Great
Stereolab - "Nihilist Assault Group" (from "Mars Audiac Quintet")
This album is great to play on your phone while you are riding in the countryside.
This track is just fantastic....and I am not sure why.
Boris - Just Abandoned Myself
on the youtube channel "theskywaswhite"
Live 19 May 2017, Max Watts, Melbourne
The second half of this track is unbelievable.
I once heard Kevin Shields talking about music being so loud it physically affects your body. This song has a physical impact on me. I have played this video so many times. For me it is like "lightning in a bottle")
By the way, I am sorry that you are 40.
Cheers!
Welcome back, really enjoyed your video. I have just had a listen to Mt Fog and was very impressed, thanks for your recommendation.
Thanks for the warm welcome back! I felt a bit out of practice! So glad you are loving Mt. Fog! What a talent she is! Cheers!
That Legal Weapon is great. I need to track down a copy.
'Odessey & Oracle' is superb, Hanna. I got 'One Year' by Colin Blunstone just last week. Worth tracking down.
Thanks, Bruce! One Year is definitely on my Discogs wishlist! Fingers crossed I find it soon! Cheers!
They rule!)
Always a pleasure to see your posts.
Hi, and thanks for the comment! Having a random playlist in the summer can definitely be refreshing! Glad you enjoyed this video! See you next time!
I saw Bully in the RDU airpot when I was interviewing for my position here in Raleigh! Told them how much i loved there first release!
That's awesome! I think their first record is pretty hard to get on vinyl right now.
Got the Bully album this week on sale at UO. Nice clear brown color version. Love the sound of it.
Awesome! So glad you picked up the new Bully album, too. It is such a perfect album, in my opinion!
Mt Fog is indeed quite different …not really my thing but it’s sort of pretty and compelling…giving it a shot 😊
I hope you don’t mind a little criticism…you camera is far away from your face.
Really enjoy seeing your videos. I've also been listening to Beach Fossils lately. Nice album.
Thanks! That's so great you've been digging the new Beach Fossils offering, too! Gorgeous sounds! Cheers!
Zombies great choice. Worth getting a copy with the original artwork by Terry Quirk.
Bully and horsegirl are playing back-to-back nights here. Unreal.
Just the other day, I listened to, "The Last Waltz." A sad coincidence being that just today I learned of Robbie Robertson's death. Robbie Robertson (RIP). Odessey & Oracle by The Zombies was one of my favourites in 1968. It remains as such. Cheers -- W
Awesome list!
Oh, and BTW... Happy Birthday Chrissie Hynde.
I love Jellyfish so much. I could type on and on about them. I’ll tell you just a couple of things. Go try to find their biography
“Brighter Day” it’s a amazing read.
Love how active Chrissie still is! When I saw her live with the Pretenders back in 2016, that concert blew me away! Rock on!
Very cool story about your sister and the Lemonheads! Right on! I wonder what CD they signed for her!
Great Video 👍🏻
...S Blue Messiahs, "Clear View"!
I’m going to spin the Bully right now. Thanks for recommending these records.
So I stayed to see if I could pick up any bands I've not heard of, or new likes if you will
You see I spent my time in the club scene in SoCal in my 20s during the indi days of the 90s. ya I'm a boomer.
Love seeing you mention Jellyfish again!
Was curious if you have listened to Roger Manning, Eric Dover and Tim Smith’s band The Lickerish Quartet?
I love those 2 Lemonheads albums, but I only have them on cd. "Paid to Smile" is one of my favorite songs. Happy birthday, Hanna! 🎂 🎉
Hi Maria! Thanks for wishing me a happy birthday! "Paid to Smile" by Lemonheads is such a gem indeed! Great to have you here!
you have hooked me up with some bands i have never heard of ..so many thanks for that im a 58 year old well travelled to many gigs ( from Frank Zappa to the pretenders to ac/dc and many many more) over the years and i love my music so it will be very interesting to hear some of your choices again many thanks for sharing them.
@@TheOmahaIntrovert yes, been streaming the Flyying Colours quite a bit, cool stuff, and also really liked Legal Weapon.
So glad you are enjoying those! That Legal Weapon was a stunning new discovery for me…and WOW!🎸💯🎶🎶
Beth Hart - Live at the Paradiso,
Cheers!
Nice to see the Suburbs get a mention. Love In Combo, Credit in Heaven.
@@toddhill7483 Saw them this past April on the anniversary of Prince's death - Bobby Z and Doctor Fink from The Revolution joined the 'Burbs on stage for the encore - It was a great show!
Great video, Hanna. Lots of bands I've never heard, which I love. I've got new stuff to listen to. 😀 Yay!
Hey there, Lloyd! Happy Monday! Glad you enjoyed the video! Happy sampling! Woo hoo!
Yay! Cheers!
