I just had to put my cat Boggie to sleep. He had an aggressive cancer of his jaw. I did everything I could to keep his quality of life, he enjoyed his life so much, a real happy cat all the time. I miss him so much. He was a real love bug. I think people tend to say it's just a cat. For me I spent more time with my two cats than I do with my human counterpart. So it is a significant change in my daily life. My cat loved me unconditionally. I do have a lot of nice family and friends, but I will always consider my pets as family and treat them with the same respect. When you give and receive love it comes in many forms, my love for my past and present time with my pets, will live on in my heart for the rest of my life.

Lost my cat and felt like my self died . Pet grows on you they play with you at night and day cuddle on your lap . And they go through all uos and downs of daily life with you , good times and hard times that became good times by having a great pet with you . A heaven where dogs and cats are welcome is perfect place to be reunited , unless cloning becomes very cheap and comerical .

I just lost my dog a few days ago, a few years prior I lost my cat, stinky.
I loved them both so much. They were my best friends.
God gave us these pets for a reason... I feel it was his way to show how unconditional love feels.
Gives us an idea how he feels for us.
My heart hurts and I don't think I'll ever get over this loss.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss Erica. That's a beautiful sentiment. I lost my dog several years ago and it still pains me to think of how much I miss him but I also smile thinking of all his funny little character traits I loved so much. You never get over losing a pet but you will get through it and the little things that are making your heart hurt right now, will eventually make you smile

I have lost my 2 cats in 1.5 yrs. My first boy was 13, the other boy was 14. The 3 of us were bonded soulmates...my familiars. After the first one went, his remaining buddy seemed to go downhill last year...He died today in my arms with my tears and kisses all over him at vets office...peacefully. I had told him to visit me. I always get locks of their fur and private cremation, even if a bit more costly.
Part of me died with them.
    I

My kids and I had to have our almost 16 year old cat put to sleep yesterday and the grief is just awful. I have him tucked up in his blanket on the sofa until we bury him later today. I can't imagine feeling better although I know it is a process and will pass - he was such an enormous part of our lives - really a family member. Because I have nursed dying people I have felt as if on some level I must be over-reacting, but seeing all the comments here, I am just going to acknowledge and allow my grief to happen. Our grief is proportionate to the love we have felt after all, and capacity to love any living thing must be a good part of being human.

I am a 38 big man and I lost my cat last week. She was such a special cat and got me through some pretty bad times. I have been crying for 1 week, though less everyday. The first 2 days it was soooo bad

cats are stereotyped for being aloof. mine was anything but... there are deep soul connections to cats same as dogs..my sweet boy was intuned to me all day long responding to my emotions and caring for me...he was 17 and im just ..?? floored and traumatized.

I lost one of my cats, Lucy, last week. She died while in the vet hospital. I don't hide my grief, which is deep, because anyone who knows me also knows how much my cats - I now have only two - mean to me.
I let the other cats see her body before we buried her: friends helped greatly and we held a funeral for her in my garden.
Perhaps being a woman makes a difference. I never had children, my cats are like my children, and perhaps this is more expected from a woman.
Cats provide so much love; studies show they help greatly with recovery from illness, physical and mental. But those who have never loved one brush off someone's grief with "it was only a cat!" A terrible thing to hear, demonstrating a lack of compassion.
It will take a long time to get used to living without her, for me and for my other cats, one of whom is her son.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet cat, Lucy. We could not agree more with everything you're saying - regardless of if you are a man or a woman, we all experience deep grief and should be able to express it freely in whichever way helps us cope. Thanks for sharing and we are sending you our love as you grieve Lucy's passing

My deepest condolences, i hope you are doing okay. I was commenting because my dogs name was Lucy too and she passed when she was 14.
I named her after the I love lucy tv show 😄

Matt8527 treasure those moments for sure! Really like Michael’s suggestion to write down those little things about their personality you love and want to always remember.

It think you give a pet love , it turns into unconditional, it's physical touch , a pet you use your senses . Then you have the things you wish you could have made better. 💔
    Thx for the video. 🐶

Hi Pennie, thanks for your comment! I am so happy that this video helped both you and your mom. Some people just don't understand the intense grief that can come from the loss of a pet - they are part of your family and we grieve them just as much as people. There is such a special connection. Please pass along our condolences to your Mom.

My partner accidentally lock my cat Red in a car a week ago. Found out 2 days later. I feel guilty to not be able to help him and I’m having the worst grieving from loosing a pet. Love and miss you Red 😿

My cat died from FIP. He was only 8 months old. I had adopted him at 6 months. We only had him for 2 months and his sister misses him. We got another cat and his sister seems to be ok. She cuddles and grooms the new cat.

I also lost my cat to FIP 3 days ago, he was also 8 months old. He was our first pet, it's so hard. I'm devastated, I can't stand his absence but I don't want to adopt a new cat right now because I feel it wouldn't be fair to Blu. He deserves that I take the time to grieve him. So my boyfriend and I have decided to volunteer at a cat shelter in the meantime, to get over our frustration of not having been able to save Blu. I feel like it'll help us process our feelings and emotions until we feel ready to welcome a new cat into our home.

I have compassion for Dogs but for some reason Cats have these dominant likeness as a pet. I am a man. I find people who don't care for the loss of a pet are less humans.

The absence of animal life around us, makes us cling to them in an unnatural way ... The common guilt we share for having just about eliminated the natural world from our doorstep ... This is a serious issue.
