why concern over how many hours of fasting. after a meal try to take the next meal a long interval. if you can bear for 5 hrs only, just have the meal and do it again the next day with interval longer than 5 hrs. keep doing it until you acheived your targets. make IF fun, no pressure and enjoy the fast that save money That is my understanding from Dr Fung.

I've been following Dr. Jemnadas for a while on tube. I do intermittent fasting for over 5 yrs and last year O fast 1 day a week for 38 hrs. I'm 81 and feel great , also I never eat sugar.
Dr Jemnadas is fantastic! As a Shristian Orthodox, I fast for 40 days before Christmas, seven weeks before Easter, two weeks before Dormition of the Theotoks, and all Wednesdays and Fridays. It's a vegan "diet", and I feel fantastic. I just finished my 3 day water fast (my first). Absolutly doable without any issues. Electrolytes and lots of water. Will make a new routine to fast 24h a week for life.
We're you using flavoured electrolytes or just plain powder? I've just finished my 1st 36hour fast but I only had flavoured electrolyte tabs which had 4 calories.
The best classes for me are functional fitness classes. I have fully equipped gym and steam sauna at home but love to walk to the gym and expose my eyes to sunlight to regulate my biological clocks.12 weeks and now it is much easier to cut toes nail . Also can touch knee with opposite elbow . So notice your limitations and work on them like standing on single leg even eyes closed difficult but train near an object to support your body if lost balance.
I fasted for 3 weeks - no good, water only, no coffee, no tea or juice. I Felt great - no problems. I was not over weight and didn't weigh myself before or after the fast. I felt great. No problems.

Started running barefoot in 2009, major improvement on knee pain. Found out that I had with gluten in early 2015 and cut out all sugar, carbs and started keto. So agree about the freedom fasting gives you. I do 18:6 most days and often one meal a day. I've done 4 or 5 of the 72 hour fasts. I recently had to go out of state to help a relative in a health crisis. I didn't have to eat and just did a 72 hour fast while there. So freeing to not have to worry about my food. Allowed me to focus on other important things. Plus I felt great, was mentally alert, and lost a pound or so.
I was doing OMAD for over a month and lost about 6 lbs then plateaued. I did a 3 day water fast and lost 5 lbs., then followed it up a week later with an 84 hr water fast, and lost another 6 lbs. I'm back to OMAD or 36 hour fast now and lost a couple more lbs. I avoid sugar, rice, and bread all the time. Lost almost 20 lbs in the last 74 days.
I'm a new follower, Dr. Rangan Chatterjee, as of yesterday. Dr. Pradip Jamnadas is an inspiration to me on my journey. While I take fastidious care of my body and mind, longevity is not my goal, other than to outlive my dogs. I'm not carnivore, but I am quietly observing two men who have eaten that way for a number of years. They both have quite spectacular health. I feel it is useful to consider it as a restricted diet. Pastured meat and dairy are basic building blocks appropriate to our physiology. Cutting out everything else will naturally exlude everything that is possibly problematic, like lectins, various carbohydrates etc. If desired these can then be selectively added back in and their effect easily observed

Traditional people working all the time . They cook food , make bread dough, wash clothes, making Halwa at Eid squatting. Our Eastren toilets are to squat and we use water to clean our private parts after urination and defecation. Squatting in labour to ease labour pains . I do practiced squatting in Edinburgh while delivering my son although I am highly qualified gynaecologist and Obestetrician I used same way as my mother did walking at home and squatting in her 5 th &6 babies. Used this natural way of delivering with my patients in labour without any pain medication and all deliver normally and marginally with my full support and follow up .
Each person .ie an adult should be responsible for their own diet choices. These wonderful doctors should not be responsible for individuals who follow their directions. Thankyou for such great advice.
I love how he lays out exactly how to do it. It may seem impossible for a beginner, but I do think gradually transitioning is the key. Gradually closing your feeding window is simple and easy. By the time I had worked up to a three day fast my husband was so amazed, but it really wasn’t difficult at all after all of the 36 hour fasts I had done. And seeing the weight loss results is so motivating! He is totally right about the weight plateau. A three day fast will kickstart your weight loss again.

Drs,, I’m 59 years old, and I have said all my life that we are “ALL” addicts.. and I call it keeping my dragons on a leash.. Irish DNA of course means of course alcohol is a family dragon, but being aware of this from a very young age, my first drink I was 16 and had two beers, my next drink I was 29..; but I was always aware that that dragon lived within me.. if you look at your patients and analyze what their addictions are, knowing they are all addicted as a baseline.. accidentally I spent most of my life as OMAD, but now expanding this to occasional fasts.

I know 80 years old who walk 5 hours ( long walk ) every weekend and walk 2 hours from Farringdon to London Paddington once a week in the afternoon 4 -6 pm walking with 59 years old man 6 feels tall and she is less than 5 feet in height she jogs and run HIIT to be with her walking partner. She learned swimming like professionals at the age of68 years old as it is the best aerobics exercise without impact. Since3 months joined the gym to prevent sarcoma.

Doing one meal a day the challange I find is actually meeting the calories and protein requirements. It's going to be a really large meal. Many OMAD promoters don't cover this enough.
Well actually, fasting is truly beneficial at all levels if there's no sugar level problems. Just the other day It happened to me that after my special breakfast I was able to fast for 24 hours with absolutely no food craving whatsoever having arisen. I myself was astonished as hours passed and hunger was nowhere to be felt. My 6 am. breakfast is a bit weird indeed, but I happily share it should anyone want to try; firstly 1 cup of bio matcha, secondly 1 bowl of fruits (2 small UNPEELED kiwis + 1 orange (peeled, of course), all of them diced, then mixed with a handful of pomegranate arils + berries and soaked in the juice of 1 lemon. Thirdly comes the overnight oats "superbowl": 3 tablespoons of oats, 1 tbs. cashews, 2 tbs. chia, 10 macadamia nuts, 2 tbs. pumpkin seeds, 1 tbs. brewer's yeast, 2 tbs. peeled almonds, 1 tbs. goji berries, 2 brazil nuts, 1 teaspoon black maca powder, 2 tbs. sunflower seeds and 1 heaping tbs. non-alkalized raw cocoa powder + cinnamon, ALL these ingredients grinded in the coffee grinder and giving as a result a sort of thick flour which I then mix with 2 raw omega-3 enriched egg yolks, 2 tbs. honey and some milk so that it all gets conveniently soaked. All this stuff is then very thoroughly stirred and left to rest in the fridge for some 12 hours. Well this is the main meal, of course, the lunch is some salad or pickled vegetables with avocado and proteins (the egg whites kept from breakfast, or some fish, feta cheese, etc.). There is no dinner, BTW, intermittent fasting and going to bed with a totally empty stomach is the way to go indeed. Snacks are non-existent, of course. Damn, I almost forgot: I also add 1 tbs. of extra virgin avocado oil to the morning bowl, but this is purely optional. Some yoga or the 5 Tibetan Rites may come before breakfast, and that makes all even better. Note: no teenager can beat me at running, and I am at least 20 years older than them.
Can someone lay out Dr. J regimen? 1. 3 week “detox from sugar” program 2. 18 hour 2MAD fasting 3. OMAD into OMAD 5 days/week and implementing a 36 hr fast. What’s next? Possibly OMAD then 36 to prime body for longer fasts?
I dont think too many people will become addicted to fasting. I think if you have fat to lose then fasting is a friend. I agree the high processed food makes you addicted. Once you get off the high reward foods addiction may be extinguished.
Guys if you want to do this please do your research. I tried 3 days water fast, took some salt with the water, on the last day had to go to the hospital. And took me a week to regulate myself.

Every 2 weeks I am doing 48 hrs fasting. Once a month doing, I am doing 72 hrs fasting and I did not end up in hospital, I am 28 kilos lighter and no more aches during morning and 10,000 step is a an easy daily task now.
This is BS, we fasted since the beginning of time. Food was always hard to find. But now you go to store and get food in boxes and plastics. Then you eat like there’s no tomorrow. After fast😢you need to introduce food slowly and be very careful what you brake your fast with… do your research
Do not immediately jump to 3-day fasting without proper adjustment. Just like scaling Mt Everest without proper acclimation will send you to heaven faster than reaching the summit. 🤦 🤣🤣

I would love to know what Dr Jamnadas thinks about 36-48 hours rolling fasts or alternate day fasts that seems to be the craze in weight loss communities. Are these beneficial or harmful?
Three 36-42 hour fasts per week are called the “gold standard” by Megan Ramos (Jason Fung’s business partner from The Fasting Method). They use it for fat loss AND healing. She used it for six months to get rid of her pre-diabetes, PCOS, and fatty liver and lose 60-80 pounds (I can’t remember).
It is definitely harder for anyone with Hashimoto's and some docs say not to go over 24 hours. I'd be interested to know what these guys think. Too much fasting and low carb crashed my thyroid and my hormones.
Your body will try and break down your body fat before it tries to metabolise leam muscle. You would need to get to a body fat of below 4% (Olympic marathon runners are about 6% body fat!) before the body would try and break down muscle during a fast. Think about the human physiology pre agriculture (it’s only 600 generations back), if we lost muscle when we were unable to get food, i.e. fasting, we would just retreat to a cave and die because we would be unable to forage and hunt to replenish our tired muscles, that’s not a very evolutionary successful stratergy
A lot of microplastics in olive oil and usually it’s mixed with other vegetable oils that are really bad and also oxalates in all of this! Ferment all vegetables 😊

Regarding a healthy plant diet, you really have to try it your self. I’ve done a healthy plant based whole food organic homegrown grass fed diet for years ( confirmed by my naturopathic doctor, I was eating healthier than 95% of people ). It was great at first. But I had digestive problems on it. I now eat an animal based diet. My health and my family’s health is getting noticeably better in just a few weeks. I don’t think a plant based diet is as healthy as we think.
I’ve been plant based for 8 years and never been healthier….i do study nutrition so you may not have been balanced and why it didn’t work….animal based diets will always carry risk of chronic disease down the track for many reasons

After years of studying this topic, I think what diet works depends on many factors such as lifestyle, daily activity levels, stress levels, gut flora, medical history, genetics, climate, etc. A healthy food might work for one person but it doesn’t necessarily work for everyone. We are now whole food meat based, low carb with some plants that are in season. No grains, seed oils or processed foods. I don’t see it increasing cardiovascular risk at all.

Good morning, you were doing good in the interview until you mentioned fiber. I have been carnivore for three and half years with no vegetables or any kind of fiber whatsoever and I am doing very good.
I wonder if anyone have any Ideas with the cramps ? I get cramps in my fingers and legs quiet often. My bloods are good ( magnesium, potassium etc ) , I do have 80 percent artery blockage ( RCA , but the stress test showed no problem) - could that be a reason?

I've been following Dr. Jemnadas for a while on tube. I do intermittent fasting for over 5 yrs and last year O fast 1 day a week for 38 hrs. I'm 81 and feel great , also I never eat sugar.

Dr Jemnadas is fantastic! As a Shristian Orthodox, I fast for 40 days before Christmas, seven weeks before Easter, two weeks before Dormition of the Theotoks, and all Wednesdays and Fridays. It's a vegan "diet", and I feel fantastic. I have just finished a ten-day fast with water an my inflammation is down, my blood pressure is 120/80, I have lost 6 kgs, and I feel like I was born again, free of arthritic pain, got rid of coffee addiction, and food addiction.

I just finished my 3 day water fast (my first). Absolutly doable without any issues. Electrolytes and lots of water. Will make a new routine to fast 24h a week for life.
We're you using flavoured electrolytes or just plain powder? I've just finished my 1st 36hour fast but I only had flavoured electrolyte tabs which had 4 calories.
Fasting will reset our hunger and become metabolically flexible switching from burning sugar to fat.
The best classes for me are functional fitness classes. I have fully equipped gym and steam sauna at home but love to walk to the gym and expose my eyes to sunlight to regulate my biological clocks.12 weeks and now it is much easier to cut toes nail . Also can touch knee with opposite elbow . So notice your limitations and work on them like standing on single leg even eyes closed difficult but train near an object to support your body if lost balance.
I fasted for 3 weeks - no good, water only, no coffee, no tea or juice. I Felt great - no problems. I was not over weight and didn't weigh myself before or after the fast. I felt great. No problems.

Started running barefoot in 2009, major improvement on knee pain. Found out that I had with gluten in early 2015 and cut out all sugar, carbs and started keto. Dr was pleased with bloodwork and gave credit to all the fucking medication i was taking! Great to see dr having open conversation about health issues facing society!
So agree about the freedom fasting gives you. I do 18:6 most days and often one meal a day. I've done 4 or 5 of the 72 hour fasts.
I recently had to go out of state to help a relative in a health crisis. I didn't have to eat and just did a 72 hour fast while there. So freeing to not have to worry about my food. Allowed me to focus on other important things. Plus I felt great, was mentally alert, and lost a pound or so.

I was doing OMAD for over a month and lost about 6 lbs then plateaued. I did a 3 day water fast and lost 5 lbs., then followed it up a week later with an 84 hr water fast, and lost another 6 lbs. I'm back to OMAD or 36 hour fast now and lost a couple more lbs. I avoid sugar, rice, and bread all the time. Lost almost 20 lbs in the last 74 days.

I have been following Dr. Jamnadas and Dr. Chatterjee a few years and admire them for their love of health and sharing valuable information with all of us.
I'm not carnivore, but I am quietly observing two men who have eaten that way for a number of years. They both have quite spectacular health. I feel it is useful to consider it as a restricted diet. Pastured meat and dairy are basic building blocks appropriate to our physiology. Cutting out everything else will naturally exlude everything that is possibly problematic, like lectins, various carbohydrates etc. If desired these can then be selectively added back in and their effect easily observed

Traditional people working all the time . They cook food , make bread dough, wash clothes, making Halwa at Eid squatting. Our Eastren toilets are to squat and we use water to clean our private parts after urination and defecation. Squatting in labour to ease labour pains . I do practiced squatting in Edinburgh while delivering my son although I am highly qualified gynaecologist and Obestetrician I used same way as my mother did walking at home and squatting in her 5 th &6 babies. Used this natural way of delivering with my patients in labour without any pain medication and all deliver normally and marginally with my full support and follow up .
Each person .ie an adult should be responsible for their own diet choices. These wonderful doctors should not be responsible for individuals who follow their directions.

I love how he lays out exactly how to do it. It may seem impossible for a beginner, but I do think gradually transitioning is the key. Gradually closing your feeding window is simple and easy. By the time I had worked up to a three day fast my husband was so amazed, but it really wasn’t difficult at all after all of the 36 hour fasts I had done. And seeing the weight loss results is so motivating!
He is totally right about the weight plateau. A three day fast will kickstart your weight loss again.

Drs,, I’m 59 years old, and I have said all my life that we are “ALL” addicts.. and I call it keeping my dragons on a leash.. Irish DNA of course means of course alcohol is a family dragon, but being aware of this from a very young age, my first drink I was 16 and had two beers, my next drink I was 29..; but I was always aware that that dragon lived within me.. if you look at your patients and analyze what their addictions are, knowing they are all addicted as a baseline.. accidentally I spent most of my life as OMAD, but now expanding this to occasional fasts.

She learned swimming like professionals at the age of68 years old as it is the best aerobics exercise without impact. Since3 months joined the gym to prevent sarcoma.

Doing one meal a day the challange I find is actually meeting the calories and protein requirements. It's going to be a really large meal. Many OMAD promoters don't cover this enough.
Well actually, fasting is truly beneficial at all levels if there's no sugar level problems. Just the other day It happened to me that after my special breakfast I was able to fast for 24 hours with absolutely no food craving whatsoever having arisen. I myself was astonished as hours passed and hunger was nowhere to be felt. My 6 am. breakfast is a bit weird indeed, but I happily share it should anyone want to try; firstly 1 cup of bio matcha, secondly 1 bowl of fruits (2 small UNPEELED kiwis + 1 orange (peeled, of course), all of them diced, then mixed with a handful of pomegranate arils + berries and soaked in the juice of 1 lemon. Thirdly comes the overnight oats "superbowl": 3 tablespoons of oats, 1 tbs. cashews, 2 tbs. chia, 10 macadamia nuts, 2 tbs. pumpkin seeds, 1 tbs. brewer's yeast, 2 tbs. peeled almonds, 1 tbs. goji berries, 2 brazil nuts, 1 teaspoon black maca powder, 2 tbs. sunflower seeds and 1 heaping tbs. non-alkalized raw cocoa powder + cinnamon, ALL these ingredients grinded in the coffee grinder and giving as a result a sort of thick flour which I then mix with 2 raw omega-3 enriched egg yolks, 2 tbs. honey and some milk so that it all gets conveniently soaked. All this stuff is then very thoroughly stirred and left to rest in the fridge for some 12 hours. Well this is the main meal, of course, the lunch is some salad or pickled vegetables with avocado and proteins (the egg whites kept from breakfast, or some fish, feta cheese, etc.). There is no dinner, BTW, intermittent fasting and going to bed with a totally empty stomach is the way to go indeed. Snacks are non-existent, of course. Damn, I almost forgot: I also add 1 tbs. of extra virgin avocado oil to the morning bowl, but this is purely optional. Some yoga or the 5 Tibetan Rites may come before breakfast, and that makes all even better. Note: no teenager can beat me at running, and I am at least 20 years older than them.
So no bacon, egg and black pudding then? 😅

Guys if you want to do this please do your research. I tried 3 days water fast, took some salt with the water, on the last day had to go to the hospital. And took me a week to regulate myself.

Every 2 weeks I am doing 48 hrs fasting. Once a month doing, I am doing 72 hrs fasting and I did not end up in hospital, I am 28 kilos lighter and no more aches during morning and 10,000 step is a an easy daily task now.
This is BS, we fasted since the beginning of time. Food was always hard to find. But now you go to store and get food in boxes and plastics. Then you eat like there’s no tomorrow. After fast😢you need to introduce food slowly and be very careful what you brake your fast with… do your research
Do not immediately jump to 3-day fasting without proper adjustment. Just like scaling Mt Everest without proper acclimation will send you to heaven faster than reaching the summit. 🤦 🤣🤣

Their experience is an example that everyone has a different constitution. Electrolyte balance can be knocked out in the body very easily, hence the need for hospitalisation.
I would love to know what Dr Jamnadas thinks about 36-48 hours rolling fasts or alternate day fasts that seems to be the craze in weight loss communities. Are these beneficial or harmful?
Three 36-42 hour fasts per week are called the “gold standard” by Megan Ramos (Jason Fung’s business partner from The Fasting Method). They use it for fat loss AND healing. She used it for six months to get rid of her pre-diabetes, PCOS, and fatty liver and lose 60-80 pounds (I can’t remember).
Thoughts of how to tamp down hunger pains while fasting? That is my struggle, having Hashimoto Thyroid Disease, I can't get past 24
It is definitely harder for anyone with Hashimoto's and some docs say not to go over 24 hours. I'd be interested to know what these guys think. Too much fasting and low carb crashed my thyroid and my hormones.
Question: what about us elderly people that will lose muscle by fasting?
Your body will try and break down your body fat before it tries to metabolise leam muscle. You would need to get to a body fat of below 4% (Olympic marathon runners are about 6% body fat!) before the body would try and break down muscle during a fast.
Think about the human physiology pre agriculture (it’s only 600 generations back), if we lost muscle when we were unable to get food, i.e. fasting, we would just retreat to a cave and die because we would be unable to forage and hunt to replenish our tired muscles, that’s not a very evolutionary successful stratergy

Regarding a healthy plant diet, you really have to try it your self. I’ve done a healthy plant based whole food organic homegrown grass fed diet for years ( confirmed by my naturopathic doctor, I was eating healthier than 95% of people ). It was great at first. But I had digestive problems on it. I now eat an animal based diet. My health and my family’s health is getting noticeably better in just a few weeks. I don’t think a plant based diet is as healthy as we think.
I’ve been plant based for 8 years and never been healthier….i do study nutrition so you may not have been balanced and why it didn’t work….animal based diets will always carry risk of chronic disease down the track for many reasons
@@lesleymccormack7694 yes, I took many nutritional courses. After years of studying this topic, I think what diet works depends on many factors such as lifestyle, daily activity levels, stress levels, gut flora, medical history, genetics, climate, etc. A healthy food might work for one person but it doesn’t necessarily work for everyone. We are now whole food meat based, low carb with some plants that are in season. No grains, seed oils or processed foods. I don’t see it increasing cardiovascular risk at all.

Our body’s reaction and how we feel is the best way to figure out what is the best food for us individually. As we age or our lifestyle and health conditions change, our diet might need to change with it sometimes.

Im fasting for at least 30 days taking Athletic Greens 1 daily and if I feel bad I have a plate of frozen fruit

Good morning, you were doing good in the interview until you mentioned fiber. I have been carnivore for three and half years with no vegetables or any kind of fiber whatsoever and I am doing very good.
I wonder if anyone have any Ideas with the cramps ? I get cramps in my fingers and legs quiet often. My bloods are good ( magnesium, potassium etc ) , I do have 80 percent artery blockage ( RCA , but the stress test showed no problem) - could that be a reason?

Does anyone of you know what to do if your blood sugar drops too low during a three-day fast and you feel very weak? I have been doing an extended fast once a month for 4 months, I thought it would be better each time, but unfortunately I am very, very weak and on the third day I feel nauseous, my fasting blood sugar is 3.6 mmol/L. Do you have any tips to make fasting better? Also, I drink a lot of water when fasting, best regards :)
Have you tried electrolytes or bone broth? Neither would break your fast and may help.

There must be something I am doing wrong I started daily Monday to Sunday 18hr fasting in Jan 2024 I have lost weight I have reversed my diabetes BUT my HBP does not go away it's ruining my health I don't wish to lose more weight what am Is supposed to do with this pressure I can do a 24 hr fasting how does the 36hr one work I don't eat the whole day and eat the following day breakfast? is that 36
