Such an awesome era in games, especially fighting games. The art and music, and Shinkiro's work was always a huge inspiration for me. I'm 29 now, and working on my own graphic novel, which I someday hope will be a game a beat-em-up game, and eventually fighter. My inspirations come from everything I loved in the past, what made me fall in love with games, especially fighters.. And some of my favorite movies, I hope to get old and new gamers to feel the same, and remember what they loved :)
He forgot to say this was also released on CD for the Windows PC with Samurai Showdown 2, in a really cool package, and the load times are almost null for that version.
man these games are HELLA OLD! :) wow... i remember sitting next to my brother as he played these kind of games when we were little kids. We wud sit in front of the T.V. all saturday afternoon, and i would be cheering my brother on! lol good times :)
SNK sound team at the time were really inspired, they always beat CAPCOM at the soundtrack, and when the CD version of Neo Geo came out, music that was awesome at AES and MVS (cart based) became unbelieveable on NeoCD. I was listening to Blue Mary theme when something draw my attention at 2:46
My favourite Fatal Fury (Garou) games: 3.- Fatal Fury Special, 2.- Fatal Fury 3, 1.- Real Bout Special. Fatal Fury 3 have an AWESOME OST, AWESOME voices and sound effects, Great Graphics and animation (it's full of details... great work here), the best original characters (compare Bob Wilson and Blue Mary Ryan with shitty characters like Ramon or K'9999). The only thing: It's so difficult, but it's a great game. Greetings from Mexico. Sorry my bad english "Please, no more KOF games!!"
sitting in a japanese arcade, the deafening noise of thousands of machines, eating curry ramen and drinking melon soda, popping a 100 yen coin into the machine and just getting lost it in the whole experience.
i also never been in to the snk fighters, but me and some friends had some time with the king of fighters 12 and it was really fun and suprisingly smooth
To the people watching this vid: This game may not look like much but it's actually a really great fighting game. But I wouldn't recommend playing it on the Neo CD though (unless you find it for cheap). You can find it on the Fatal Fury Battle Archives 1 disc on the PS2. There are few load times and with Composite video, the graphics look much better
@BillyBullshot You know u have to press all buttons incl. "start" at the start of the round when it says "GO!", right? Ur name then turns green. After, you have to wait till your life bar flashes red, you know that too, right? The manoeuvre is indeed a reverse dragon punch with heavy punch. I think what's tricking you is this: You have to do it AS YOU GET BACK TO YOUR FEET JUST AFTER BETTING KNOCKED DOWN. Remember you can only execute the hidden supers while your NAME is flashing! Cheers
Actually, the most affordable way to get this game has to be buying the PC port. I got my copy of Fatal Fury 3 and Samurai Shodown 2 compilation disc at Fry's which was being sold for two dollars. One dollar a game, you can't beat that. That was a long time ago, though.
@Erotomaniax Oh fine, can you please tell me the correct input for it? Reverse dragon punch doesn't work (which I got from gamefaqs along with another command which also fails.)
Fatal Fury 3 having some of the most complex strategic elements of the series, you epically fail to showcase ANY of the finer elements of the gameplay AT ALL. But you said it yourself so I can't complain: you couldn't play Fatal Fury if your life depended on it, you think every character is another Chun Li. Other than that, you made a brilliant review of the game!
Beloved wonderful goodness that is SNK. To you nob believers of the 3D fighter however, give King of Fighters Maximum Impact 2 a try. In the states this is known as KOF 06. Despite it's 3D transition, it's a fighter that feels damn good and tight, yet makes good use of the circle strafe and side games that will use both. As well. King of Fighters 2002 UM, witch is significantly different than the normal 2002, is now obtainable on xbox live. God bless SNK a company catering to their fans.
mark called it the sega cd lmao if only. i had that pos add on, and there damn sure weren't any games this nice for it! sewer sharks. i got ripped off!
SNK probably has the best 2D fighting games. the only other good 2D fighting game others than SNK's is street fighter from capcom. almost each SNK fighting game has a long history and many series. king of fighter for example i think its on 12 now.
This game has in PORTUGUESE!! seriously!!? Well.. guess I have to find some way to have it, because there aren't many great old school arcade games like this on my language.

Proud owner of Fatal Fury Battle Archives vol. 1 and 2, as well as Mark of the Wolf for Dreamcast. Yep, I'm on that Fatal Fury tip. B-)
I remember playing this at a local youth center when I was 10.
There was an actual Neo Geo arcade at that time...
Loving the SNK themed videos lately :D

Sega cd... Sega is always on your mind. 3:39
@Erotomaniax Thanks, I don't have the game at the moment but when I get it back I'll be sure to try it out...

That tortoise in one of the backgrounds is awesome
This game has great visuals and great music. I gotta pick this up
Makes me glad I got the Fatal Fury Battle Archives a loooooong time ago. :-)
sitting in a japanese arcade, the deafening noise of thousands of machines, eating curry ramen and drinking melon soda, popping a 100 yen coin into the machine and just getting lost it in the whole experience.
2D fighting games are way better than 3D fighting games.
No all the time tekken, virtual fighter are good games too
@Leont64 Because this is where the KOF characters are from. Well some of them. Others are from other SNK Games, mainly Art of Fighting.
Notice at exactly 3:40 Mark says SEGA CD games, this is a Neo Geo CD. Obviously no one caught that. This is a Neo Geo CD game.
i also never been in to the snk fighters,
but me and some friends had some time with the king of fighters 12 and it was really fun and suprisingly smooth
I cant wait for the new fatal fury
This game rocks!
your intro blows my bas speakers, i love it..

I caught that Airplane reference Mark!
3:39 "for the Sega CD release" Mark = A true Sega fan
@BillyBullshot

nice review, the best game of Fafal fury was : Warou mark of the wolves (1999)
@Erotomaniax Oh fine, can you please tell me the correct input for it? Reverse dragon punch doesn't work (which I got from gamefaqs along with another command which also fails.)
This game was amazing back then!
Terry Bogard was my favorite and Mai Shiranui was hot lol
@Leont64 Because there are a lot of SNK games to bring out characters from :D
I've always been more for Blue-Mary than Mai.
DEM ABS!
Nice review... u 4got to mention that this game has some very good music.. Peace
@BillyBullshot
Yes Mary's hidden desperation move is a grapple!!
Fatal Fury 3 was okay, but it didn't get REALLY good until the Real Bout series. Still, you could tell this series was on to a good start.
"But does it speak Jive?"
Guess not by the sound of it.
good point!
Sorry typo, I meant "getting knocked down..." and not "betting.."
9 years on and I still can't get Mary's Level 2 hidden desperation move to work. What is it, a throw or something?
It's MVS Multi Video System.

Why at 3:59 it sound like she says "Watch me bouncy!" Lol, great review!
never liked fighting games. but watching two good players playing street fighter is like watching a chess match. fucking cool.
Soon neo geo cd games are coming to PSN
lol, you said Sega CD again. Poor Neo Geo... :)
@szor1
SS was a sword fighting game.

@77Fortran I see what you are saying. But don't take it too serious. Its only a video game.
i was never a snk guy i was a capcom fan although i like ff1 and s2
yo the CD version has different music ?
Shinranju looks hot!
I've played realbout special and mark of the wolves so there should be some fighters here that I know
No jive? I think I will pass then! Just kidding lol. But as always, awesome video.

SNK probably has the best 2D fighting games. the only other good 2D fighting game others than SNK's is street fighter from capcom. almost each SNK fighting game has a long history and many series. king of fighter for example i think its on 12 now.
I thought mark of wolves was fatal fury 3?
Wow.... what's happening at 2:46?

@CHURCHTUCKERCABOOSE yeah i wrote this before he said it was japanese so dont blame me
"ME BOUNCY!!!"
@DXSXDXSXD This game has plenty of fireball throwing characters.
Well i'm not 100% sure but I saw it somewhere...
Blue-Mary looks like Android 18
Franco Bash = muscular mario
This game has in PORTUGUESE!! seriously!!?
Well.. guess I have to find some way to have it, because there aren't many great old school arcade games like this on my language.
Fast loading is right.
Who started what?
when Blue Mary wins, everyone wins....lolz.
Fun Fact: Blue Mary's designwas inspired by Android 18 from Dragon Ball Z.
There's nothing like watching beautiful women in 2D fighting games.. :)
I'm starting to wonder if the neo-geo or neo-geo cd has a SINGLE bad game...
wow did that girl just finish the fight with a leglock???
You said Sega CD.
I love when people say video game broads are hot.
HOT
faaaaaiiilllll
@77Fortran Don't trip :P
@SnoFox6161 ^what he said
Samurai Shodown was so much better.
Mai looks a lot better in the KOF series
Who doesn't? xD

mary kinda looks like one of the androids from dragon ball z
You need to do at least one review speaking in jive.
blue mary just cursed out hon fu
@SnoFox6161 its super effective, way too goddam distracting
This is why I sucks in every fighting game which isn't Super Smash Bros.: I hate combos >:-(
freak!
hmm everytime I look your videos the views are around 300...strange
Goof Review Anyway!
12th lol

I find that Japanese is most zany when you can understand it but not read it.
You just can't take Sega off your head, can you? lol
