This is the "Fatal Fury" Entry where Blue Mary and Ryuji Yamazaki became Fan-Favorite Characters and that's how they made their Appearances in the "King of Fighters" series.
There were a lot of flaws there. The absence of Duck King, Billy Kane, Kim Kaphwan. For some dick, special techniques were cut for the characters. For example, Terry's Rising Tackle was taken away for some reason. Very difficult management.
The voice announcer was my favorite in this. Love how he says Pao Pao Cafe. This guy had to been a sports commentator at one time. I'm surprised he wasn't assigned for a Baseball Stars title.
I love how much Brazilians love Sega and SNK, they are totally enthralled by this shit and I am all for it. I always preferred Street Fighter and MK as a kid, but Fatal Fury and Samurai Shodown holds a special place for me as well. =)

Though SNK had some troubles with his name, they changed his named to Kushnood Butt because Marco Rodriguez was kind of similar to a real-life martial artist, but it seems there wasn't a problem, however, Rodriguez is a Spanish surname, they later corrected it to the Portuguese-accurate Rodrigues

It's a title that gets kinda forgotten between FF Special and the Real Bout ones. I think the roster is too small for a 1995 game. And most of my friends already didn't like the Fatal Fury series because they thought the two-plane thing was too complicated, and the introduction of a third didn't do much to change their minds.
I've played the the original Fatal Fury and a little bit of the second one, but of the classic titles, THIS is the one I logged the most hours in if you don't count Mark of the Wolves. I really liked how fast you can change lanes compared to the previous titles. And for '95, this game was gorgeous! I would say this game is a gem, for sure.

I recently started playing this game - but I'm not a big fan of the new 3 plane system, it's confusing. I hope I get used to it, because the game itself is so beautyful and I would love to like it. My favourite FF is FF Special (and Garou MOTW).
This game is a masterpiece, definatelly an underrated gem. I can't forget the hours we were playing with my buddy back in highschool in neoragex having no idea idea a third game existed, or even more with the real bout games and mark of the wolves. The reason we had no idea was because arcades were forbidden to exist by a stupid law in the late 90s in Greece. So we had stayed at FF2 Special
This is still my favorite Fatal Fury. It's only flaw being that the plane shift is about 90% accurate. But I still prefer how that feature works in this game.

I had a *REAL* hard time learning Fatal Fury 3, but I love it so much! Andy's standing animation is his best in this game. Handling three lanes is quite hard and it's the only thing in the game that I dislike. All this considered, it's a wonderful game.
I bought me a NEO GEO almost 2 decades ago and i ignored this hidden gem for a little while because of poor reviews by certain gamers. Then i watched footage on youtube and was impressed and purchased it and had fun with it. Its quite possibly the most underatted fighting game ever made.
For me its the best one. I have the original AES cart still. The intro, character select, stages, win quotes.. its full of charm. Also the introduction of Yamazaki and Blue Mary.
This game made the SNK staple FG. It introduced Hops, Sways (df+HP), I am not sure, but even FF3 has Guard Cancels, Command Normals. It definitely pulled away from Capcom SF2 staple. Great video.
I'm so torn with this game. I absolutely love it because I love the amazing strides it took compared to "2/special" but the 3 lines are so difficult to juggle, not to mention the super moves are impossible to do mid-battle. In a perfect world I'd love the controls of Real bout, with the story/levels of FF3.
Not to mention the fact that some don t even work properly. For example bash s enhanced super doesn t work on several characters. What i found out however is that the moves can be done if the joystick movement is slower. Yeah, that always does the trick for me.
I like this multi-lane system. I would like to see them bring it back in the new upcoming Fatal Fury sequel but in the settings to give players the option to switch between two, three, or standard single lane combat. That way everyone will be happy. Or maybe instead of choosing it in the settings, give the option to choose lane system before each match. Either way, having the option is always plus.
@alex-mihaimatei8597 it works perfectly all the time. I've had this game since release on cd. Just do the green name code. When battle starts, keep holding A +C +D while pressing start iirc. In fact, it was so easy we would exclusively use it in combos. After the launcher I think the follow up was rdp + something (BC, CD, just C?). Need to plug in neo geo again to find out, been too long.

The problem is that, when doing the Genocide buster(enhanced version of armageddon buster) on specific characters, you can see that the move is not properly optimized and the animation does not continue. Armageddon buster works all the time. I can´t remember exactly, but Genocide buster for example doesn´t work on Terry, the animation does not continue after one hit i believe. I know this because I tried a few good hours with bash on more characters. If you can test the move I am curious. But try it on more characters, like terry, sokaku, the jins or mai. With mai and sokaku I´ve had some luck, but with the other characters nada. Cheers :)
Gameplay failure. The changes to line switching to require A+B for foreground and B+C for background is very untuitive, this is why the Real Bout games went with the D button for line switches. All the Real Bout games have their fans and you can usually find vs. matches of all three of those run at Japanese tournaments like Mikado, or just general Fightcade matches. But finding anything of Fatal Fury 3 is tough, because barely anybody likes playing vs. matches. Most of the people that call this a gem just like the single-player presentation and aesthetics, that's it.
I never realized how much I needed live action Fatal Fury in my life before seeing this. It's beautiful. Staying on topic, FF3 is super underrated. I remember buying this on PC and being blown away by how fun it was.

I bought a brand new copy of this game the week it was released on NeoGeo CD from HMV in Oxford street London. It was £30 new, and I couldnt wait to rip the cellophane off when I got home to play it. Me and a friend played this to death for days afterward, gameplay and graphics wise for 1995 on the Neo Geo Cd it was remarkable and so impressive with such great attention to detail, obviously a showpiece to rival the ps1 / 3do / atari jaguar at the time. Superb game then and now one of my faves 💯⚡️💥⚡️☮️🎲
Unfortunately, I've never played FF. But every time I see recordings of this game, it looks so different from KoF. KoF is so combo-based, and insane, while FF looks more footsies. Maybe that's just an impression though, but I'd love to understand the evolution of mechanics of the SNK games, including Art of Fighting.
In this era KOF was not combo-based. In KOF99, it became combo-based game. For real, Fatal Fury Real Bout Special and Samurai Shodown 4 had longer combos than any KOF from that time. You can easily pull 15 hit combos from both games without SDM.
Even though I'm more of a Real Bout fan than a Fatal Fury 3 fan, I enjoyed playing this one too. I liked the presentation and the graphics of this game, especially "breaking the 4th wall" when defeating opponents. 🤣 Edit : I also remember having that issue of Electric Gaming Monthly and being excited for Street Fighter Legends...I mean Alpha and Fatal Fury 3. My local arcade was buzzing with competition in both games.
Based on your skills (grades) final boss can be Yamazaki or Jin Chonshu or Jin Chonrei, this last one with official ending. The endings are very simple, just 1 image per character, but only Geese has a long ending
SNK needs to release an English, online version of _Real Bout Special: Dominated Mind_ with rollback and call it something like _Fatal Fury Real Bout Special: Global Domination._ The title being a play on the Global Match, Final/Ultimate Edition, and Dominated Mind subtitles on SNK games.
What is the background song that starts from 3:09? I lived in Ashiya-shi and worked in Hyogo-ken from 2001 - 2005. The building I worked in had photos on the wall of the Kobe/Awaji/Hanshin earthquake. The only evidence of the the massive quake I saw was at a marine park in Sannomiya, Kobe and one condemned building at the end of Motomachi in Sannomiya. Really impressive Japan rebuilt that area so fast and well to not show any evidence of what happened.
Neo Geo MVS version got a bug/glitch that make you did'nt see the ending, because arcade crashes. This error was corrected on AES version! It was a big mistake and made players frustated
it was a good entry for me and the magazines really hyped it, the new sprites and characters looked great in those pages, the day I finally got to play it I really loved the new art and music direction, got into fights with Blue Mary and Franco Bash in their stages I was in awe.
To me 3 was absolutely an upgrade, added some great characters and I enjoyed the sway system more than the line one. Blue Mary and Yamazaki are among my top picks for returning characters for Garou 2.
Fatal Fury 3 was a commercial failure, to the point that they reused chips from all the unsold cartridges when they made Real Bout 1. Personally I'm torn on the game. It has an OUTSTANDING presentation and lots of good ideas, but the gameplay is a bit underbaked and unbalanced.

Seriously the game is UNDERRATED! Its not a bad game per say but many fans dont like this entry due to the gameplay feeling different than special. Personally i enjoyed it from gameplay to the graphics deapite not being good at it.
It's hard because this game looks lovely some of the best stages ever like terrys yamazaki, they also introduced chaining mechanics ect, but looking back now it's easy to see why this game is a massive flop and to treat it like like a beta for real bout even though snk more than likely put there heart and soul into the game, but there's some serious issues pushback on normals air to airs causing hard knock downs and whoever thought that throws needed a 13 frame start up in 1995 needs to sent to the moon, HOWEVER i think a massive caveat for my opinions on the game are warped i did not play FF3 on release i played it in about 1997 1998 i think all those people that played this game on release i can see why they would love it 1995 was a different period to 1997-98
I would not count Fatal fury 3 a failure because if it wasnt for that game we would have never had any of the awesome real bouts. I would say more of underrated jem.
This game was the shit when it came out. Weakest part about it was the game speed and character count. Also infinites, which were great for 1p but terrible for 2p vs. This was the game that made us stop playing ss2. Till kof 95 came out, that took over everything. This game had many cheats btw, super hard mode, secret supermoves, mini character fighters but your specials/supers remained the same 😂. Also, the boss code. Beat the game, press load game, but you don't have to continue. Coolest part about it is they are also at the bar (after loading game press B starting from Terry and go over each character in a certain order pressing B each time). Honestly, while ffs remains great, the line sway system is ass. All ff ganes onward on aes are worth playing. Best by far are rbff2 and motw.
This game is in no way a good game. It has skeleton of a potentially great game. I hope one day there will be a “special” edition of the game that takes care of the infinite loops and other exploits, be it official or through mods. The real bout games evolved into something different from ff3, I think ff3 warrants its own update.
FF3 for a big FF fan like me is a BIG FAILURE, FFSP is the only one reason FF3 is a failure: 1- abscence of kim kaphwan 2-some dull charachters like Sokaku ( looks more for samurai showdown) / Franco Bash and his over power and annoying scraams 3- Andy Bogard lost his kuhadan move / terry has no rising knuckle 4- BMG and o.s.t annoying Geese sound actor isn't the same 5- the swap between plans is confusing 6- the life bar end quickly
I know you are nit picking when you are dissing the ost and the voice actor. The geese voice actor(Kong Kuwata) from Fatal Fury 3 is the one that voiced every geese and genjiro up until now. Kong Kuwata is great.
Was an unpolished gem, but had so much character and potential. I really wish they improved on the 3 line system; with more buttons to take advantage of now, it wouldn't be as confusing as it was back then.

This was my first Fatal Fury. Short answer: hidden gem. The stage progression, the music, the story and also the hidden bosses. All really awesome.

The Sega Saturn version’s soundtrack remains a favorite of mine, particularly the Mai and Chonshu tracks, along with the Chonshu intro music.

Garo 3 was good but I love Garo Real Bout the most. Back then I played at arcade center all day, mastering every characters to competitive level.

FF3 was not refined. The refined version is Real Bout.

It's hard because this game looks lovely some of the best stages ever like terrys yamazaki, they also introduced chaining mechanics ect, but looking back now it's easy to see why this game is a massive flop and to treat it like like a beta for real bout even though snk more than likely put there heart and soul into the game, but there's some serious issues pushback on normals air to airs causing hard knock downs and whoever thought that throws needed a 13 frame start up in 1995 needs to sent to the moon, HOWEVER i think a massive caveat for my opinions on the game are warped i did not play FF3 on release i played it in about 1997 1998 i think all those people that played this game on release i can see why they would love it 1995 was a different period to 1997-98
Besides garou motf, and real bout special this is the best of the series
I would not count Fatal fury 3 a failure because if it wasnt for that game we would have never had any of the awesome real bouts. I would say more of underrated jem.

This game was the shit when it came out.
Weakest part about it was the game speed and character count. Also infinites, which were great for 1p but terrible for 2p vs.
This was the game that made us stop playing ss2. Till kof 95 came out, that took over everything.
This game had many cheats btw, super hard mode, secret supermoves, mini character fighters but your specials/supers remained the same 😂.
Also, the boss code. Beat the game, press load game, but you don't have to continue. Coolest part about it is they are also at the bar (after loading game press B starting from Terry and go over each character in a certain order pressing B each time).
Honestly, while ffs remains great, the line sway system is ass. All ff ganes onward on aes are worth playing. Best by far are rbff2 and motw.

My most favorite Fatal fury is Fatal fury 3.
This game is in no way a good game. It has skeleton of a potentially great game. I hope one day there will be a “special” edition of the game that takes care of the infinite loops and other exploits, be it official or through mods. The real bout games evolved into something different from ff3, I think ff3 warrants its own update.

FF3 for a big FF fan like me is a BIG FAILURE, FFSP is the only one
reason FF3 is a failure:
1- abscence of kim kaphwan
2-some dull charachters like Sokaku ( looks more for samurai showdown) / Franco Bash and his over power and annoying scraams
3- Andy Bogard lost his kuhadan move / terry has no rising knuckle
4- BMG and o.s.t annoying Geese sound actor isn't the same
5- the swap between plans is confusing
6- the life bar end quickly
I know you are nit picking when you are dissing the ost and the voice actor. The geese voice actor(Kong Kuwata) from Fatal Fury 3 is the one that voiced every geese and genjiro up until now. Kong Kuwata is great.

Everything between Garou and FF Special was forgettable. They wasted a lot of man hours on that Real Bout Series and FF3
