Small correction: Bethesda had _no input at all_ in the soundtrack’s direction. It was id software themselves that initially told Mick Gordon “no guitars,” because they were all super into electronic music and experimental stuff at the time. Mick had to prove it could be done without being cheesy.
Electronic music has never been something I've associated with Id and Doom. They've always been Hard Rock. Electronic and Experimental stuff is much more like Valve and Half Life.
I love how the Doomslayer destroys the filters of the towers after he inspects them. It shows that he's not an idiot, he knows how the tech works, but he purposefully decides to smash the damned things because the Slayer knows how dangerous Hell is.

Hear me out; Pitch Black but instead of a team of mercs on the hunt, it's a group scientists and security trying to escape Instead of riddick, the Slayer shows up, does badass stuff that helps the group in some way, then disappears to further his goals which are obviously shown to the audience Instead of bioraptors, it's all the demons of doom's roster
That would make for cool action but a really boring movie. Merely watching a faceless silent hero tearing demons to shreds gets boring after 10 minutes. However, I do think a good idea for a Doom movie would be set on the UAC Mars base during the initial crisis where the objective of the characters is to *awaken* the Slayer, and right at the climax we get a beautiful scene of demon-slaughter
With how armor or ammo works in Doom I always imagine Doomguy hastily slapping pieces of metal onto the damaged portions of the preaetor suit mid-firefight or taking his time after a battle to pick spent rounds out of demons.

I honestly really like how when it comes to the filters at first Doom Guy does seem to want to be careful like his actually listening but then goes fuck it! And brakes them.
Arlo did a review of 2016 saying it's the FPS for Nintendo fans. Doom has a lot of similarities to Metroid actually! Exploration, atmosphere, a silent protagonist. More blood though lol. I also thought I wasn't super into fps games as opposed to standard action or fighting games, but Doom was one of the original shooters. It's the prime example of what shooters SHOULD be--mobility and hordes of enemies. Its raw gunplay is just as satisfying as a fighting game. (Watch Adam Cara for more info on that.) I'm down for Call of Duty multiplayer as much as the next guy, but arena shooters are much rarer these days when they used to be the standard.

Same here on 2016 relighting my love of fps and introducing me to arena shooters in general. This article said they were inspired by Bloodborne's combat eh? That could make sense, given you're rewarded with a little health for inmediate counter attacks like glorykills.

Side note: I met Hugo Martin at a DOOM Eternal press event and he is as cool as you say he is and then some. And you’re not the only one who heard “into Sandy’s city” in “Vegacore” As for what I think of the game, while I still consider Doom 64 my favorite in the doom series (hopefully until doom eternal), I can’t deny that this game is a blast to play. The frantic gameplay, the beautiful worlds, the glory kill mechanic, the soundtrack, it’s all great. I didn’t bother with multiplayer, and snapmap is alright, but still. I love this game, and I cannot wait for doom eternal.

Maybe this is just me being a Doom newbie who never played the originals but….I honestly prefer this game’s style over Eternal. The weapon-get animations, the imps jumping onto walls, demon designs, I love it all. I prefer Doom Eternal Gameplay but this game is my shit.
My favorite moment in Doom 2016, brief as it was, is when the Slayer backed up Vega to keep him alive. Really shows that while the Slayer may be an unstoppable super soldier that kills demons for a living, he's still human under the armor and saving Vega like that shows he can still show empathy.

Doom 2016 was so good that when i ran it on my potato PC it was the best fucking game i have ever played apart from Star Wars Republic commando.
I remember losing my shit when fighting the hell guard, I've gotten so mad that I switch from hurt me plenty to I'm too young to die just so I can continue
