If you ever get the chance to play VR again I'd highly recommend Doom 3 VR. It's an unofficial mod that requires the BFG edition but it's pretty good in VR.
@@Jrsystem The video creator literally used a VIVE and only had teleporting and dashing as movement, so no. PC vr just didn't allow for smooth movement. On the PSVR, you can use a joystick for actual smooth movement.
The telefragging thing was kinda a waste. They could’ve just, when you teleport to the demon when it’s flashing it’ll put you into a “glory kill” mode which temporarily puts away your weapons and lets you beat the demon up as you like. Basically allowing you to perform your very own glory kills. But telefragging is easier to program so yea.
they could've done something like that yeah, my ideas were if you glory killed an enemy it would make you equip your fists and beat the enemy, the bigger the enemy, the more punches it would take. BUT I doubt a UAC scientist would be strong enough to kill a demon with his hands.
I feel like it couldve done better if it had these things. 1. Full locomotion 2. Some basic physics for grabbing demons and picking up weapons. 3. Sure it would be annoying, but do you think some random scientist is going to win against the Slayer of all people? Thank you for reading this and coming to my red talk.
It was too short, however i absolutely loved what was in this game, the controls that u chose determine how good the game is tho. Playing with the playstation controller makes for a really fun experience. Also if you collect the secrets there are heaps of old style maps that you can play thru (More than in the actual campaign)
I pissed my pants at the beginning and decided I won't wake the whole town up screaming tonight. Just got PCVR. This is next level shit right here. You're actually inside a new world.
Don't ask why but DOOM VFR is actually the first and only DOOM game I have ever played. Also when the main character hacks into Haydens pc to find out that there is an argent accumulator inside a cyberdemon he specifically calls it a PROTOTYPE cyberdemon, implying that it is not the same one from DOOM 2016 and that DOOM VFR could be canon.
Honestly, if id were to make another original doom VR game, it should be controlled with an analog stick. Doom 1 and 2 are badass in VR, you just need an analog stick to control it well.
Man I wish Peters survived this game. The idea of a dual wielding, tele-fragging, cyborg-man who kicks demon ass with the best of them would’ve been amazing to see expanded upon. Hell he could’ve been the next protagonist since the Slayer is taking his big sleep
I hope ID adds in an effect where you can see the demons with the custom skins you put on them, example I have the Zombie Mancubus skin on and you would see zombie Mancubi in the game except the cyber ones, Honestly that would make the game A LOT more fun to me.
You can actually have full loco in this game and it kiiiinda turns into Doom 2016, but not really and is potentially vomitastic (I can't tell, I have steady VR legs) I am actually surprised that the game kinda works on Rift S, but you can't turn with a stick so the cord got annoying really fast. Also don't think the weapon alts work too without going to the console and rebinding ... Overall - REALLY half-hearted effort that feels very underwhelming so get Robo Recall instead - you get to literally rip and tear robots there. Or Doom 3 BFG VR mod, which actually plays pretty great even if it's a slower game. Oh and Half-Life: Alyx is coming out right after Eternal, there's that.
if you want a better doom (VR) experience, ive heard good things about questzdoom (if you dont get motion sick), and if you're looking for a more doom 4/eternal experiance than you can use D4D if im correct.
I actually enjoyed this game, I played it on psvr with the Aim controller and had lots of fun with it. I have iron stomach so I didn’t even get mild discomfort once. (motion sickness seems to be a problem with this game for other people) the game controlled well when I used Aim but even I shutter at the thought of using the move controllers to play this game.
There's a PC mod for this that makes the movement fluid in eliminates the teleport ability and it's a f****** game-changer it makes the game so much better. Honestly I wish they would release an update for the game that just made it like that across all systems
I think lore-wise they could have made this better by saying he was downloaded into a prototype combat body made for Samuel Hayden. As for the Cyberdemon, I think the fight should’ve been against a smaller test subject for the actual Cyberdemon, which would be more along the lines of a beefed-up Pinky with bionic enhancements.

You should consider looking into a WMR (Windows Mixed Reality) headset. I personally have a Samsung Odyssey + and they run about 250 dollars. It does have some tracking issues, but none that have been game breaking. You can also play most vive and oculus games with a little research. I'm not saying it beats the Vive Index or Oculus S, but it is a cheaper alternative that really compares well.
The issue was how you played it. The best way to play the game is one a windows mr headset or rift with custom controller bindings. This game also isn’t very friendly to be newcomers when I played I could take an hour and a half of it before needing to take a break using not teleport movement but if you tied it as your first free experience then say goodbye to your insides. This games biggest flaw is that the controllers it encourages you to play with are the worst way to play. You would have enjoyed much more even if you used a regular game pad (which you can do)
