I saw 5 engines pulling a mile of cars in the Columbia gorge and they were going up an incline and the sound in the gorge was incredible. I think it's the best sound you can hear.
Awesome the videos just come up in my recommended videos must be because am playing the game with this line in it . Great to see the loco in real live footage
+GMTX 3613 i am a model railroader too..........im modeling Barstow yard for my fictional layout :-) mine is called the "BNSF California Sub Divison" its set in eastern california with the Mojave desert as my ground or desert coloured ground.
Great Video! Love seeing the Trains on the Summit, but I do wish someone would get up there on that hill at the very summit and film looking back downhill and on around the curve so we could see what's around that curve at the very top!!
Ese último con 8 máquinas era muy corto yo creo 4 eran que se estaban de regreso. Ahora los trenes usan entre 2 y 5 y luego ponen en el punto de peso medio del tren y atrás para distribuir la fuerza, todo controlado por por computadora.
Oh my God.. U just killed the charm of the whole thing by taking away the focus from the 2nd train. Oh my word! U must've followed the train and not the mountains.. the curve and turn of the train were most fascinating which u missed completely...
dapto234 I would think some of them were dead in tow being dropped somewhere else, but you never know in this part of the country. There’s hills all over the place!
@@GMTX-kg8ep those who don't make videos don't know how difficult it can be to get the shot right. Then there's weather, people jumping into the shot, background nose, wind noise, and equipment failure/ operator error. On the other had some channels talk about how difficult some things are about making videos, when it really isn't. More or less it is what you put into it. It is as difficult as it is easy. I encourage trolls to make there own videos and see what it is like on the other side of the glass. So far, no takers.
No. The train is a mile or more long and going over one of the steepest passes on the west coast and maintaining a Track speed of 60 to 80 Mph. This is why 8 engines are needed
Gotta ask...just *WHAT* is that piddly little bypass siding for on the far right? It looks like it couldn't more then a single locomotive. (Or is that what it IS for?)
Dave Greenlaw some of these were added in 2008 due to the increase in traffic. It depends on what you’re referring to. I don’t know very much about this place. I no longer live here.
Nice video but you should learn a little something about « editing », free in Microsoft. Those cliffs when you pan from « coming » to « going away » dont’t need to be there and indicate to me , inexperienced in shooting trains. Also, most railfans don’t shoot trains coming «straight on », but at a small angle to the diesel locomotives. All in all, not bad; 7 out of 10 score.
Felt very blessed to see eight monsters upfront hauling the load, from 4.11 onwards

Very longest freight trains.and Cajon Pass is amazing pass.
Nice view and Location...
At a time two freight trains ...
Great thank to camera man

Trains and cajon will forever remind me of 1989 disaster on Duffy street
Wow! That’s interesting.
GMTX 2613 the heat was so intense it melted fire trucks, popped tires and anything plastic near by, flames went over 200' in the air.

I lived not far from there that was a real spectacle.
Out of all rail fan vids, these are my favorite ones to watch “Cajon Pass” , Im going to model this on my Ho scale train set.
kevin leftridge that is amazing! I’m also a model railroader.
kevin leftridge so am I , I love this pass!!!

Cool video....Awesome capture....Big like from Romania!!!
Thank you very much!
Good collection , Cajon Pass!
A train led by seven locomotives. I have seen that. Usually that much power is distributed along the train.
Are so many engines needed?
It's a very steep grade
Good old Cojon Pass, up & down US 101, hundreds of times.
Wow,great, too much load travels at once , gives wonder ful moment today
train with 8 engines? great, inever saw before.
Can Cajon Pass run trains are freight trains only.
My God! At 1:25 left above i see a freight coming with 8 locomotives in front!
Jw Slijm yeah. Thanks for watching.
Why only 8? Why not 12 or 15 locos? Then I’ll be impressed.
My God! At 4:15 the 8 loco train is right before thy eyes.....Yee Gads foresooth!
Beautiful Rock cut

Nice view! and very excellent freight trains.
The engineers don't wave from the trains anymore, not like they did back in 1954

Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Freight Trains climbs the 2.2% grade to the summit of Cajon Pass of California.
thanks I wondered what BNSF stood for,
Oh my God..
U just killed the charm of the whole thing by taking away the focus from the 2nd train.
Oh my word! U must've followed the train and not the mountains.. the curve and turn of the train were most fascinating which u missed completely...
Amazing to see the great trains ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Es pendiente ascendente o pendiente descendente van en potencia o con freno dinamico 😮
Just subscribed!! Great video!!
Love them powerful trains.
Great pull
are all 8 locos physically needed for that 2nd train it only had 79 wagons.
dapto234 I would think some of them were dead in tow being dropped somewhere else, but you never know in this part of the country. There’s hills all over the place!
you lose plenty of traction power when you couple those engine together
HUGE TRAINS
Esos si son trenes con el paisaje de fondo se ven de poca madre
Where's this overpass located exactly? Hoping to be on west coast in March with my son and wouldn't mind seeing
recovery rider Summit at Cajon Pass
Ohhh it’s beautiful USA 🇺🇸 the best..!!
Excellent rail infrastructure!
Good overhead shot. Looks a bit difficult to do, tying to lead the first train, but get the second train in frame.
Squib Rail thanks! Yeah, I was more amateur back then. That’s why it wasn’t the nicest.

Squib Rail yeah, you’re absolutely right!
Well done
Just awasome diesel power!
the shot @ 1:40 is pretty cool !!
Why so many engines? I would assume 4-6 gets the job done. Are they dead in tow?
No. The train is a mile or more long and going over one of the steepest passes on the west coast and maintaining a Track speed of 60 to 80 Mph. This is why 8 engines are needed
4 loco were pulling kms long trail and 2nd one 7-8 loco pulling just km trail

what did you use to shoot this?
J.T. Nutt I used a lumix camera.
Nice video, you have to learn to keep the cam still.
Or...edit the bad camera work out. Good luck shooting! Practice makes Perfect...

@@GMTX-kg8ep Thanks...and I meant "...couldn't hold more..."
Also, I'm wondering if they are for inspection vehicles to pull to the side for trains?
Dave Greenlaw I believe you may be correct
