It was so nice to find a video that walks through a reasonable diagnosis process. I was able to borrow my shop's Autel and check a lot of the same stuff you did, like the inputs from the controls and communication with the ACM (or in my case, lack thereof), so I feel a lot better condemning the ACM in my friend's truck. It sucks, but at least now we know what we need with more confidence. Greatly appreciated; thank you!
Sent my 2013 head unit in to repair guys from ebay, they fixed it with a lifetime guarantee for $140! Still working perfect! Baking it may or may not work for a while!
I watched this but was skeptical. Radio hadn't worked for 3 or 4 years. Gave it a shot. I took the radio out but didn't disassemble radio. Put it in a cool over for 20 min st 275. Let it cool to touch. Hooked it back up but didn't work. Thought i would try again but left if fir the night. I got in my truck today and it scared the sh*t out of me. It was loud. The radio and the clock bith work. Thank you!
My 2010 Ford F150 after 12 years of working perfect the radio stopped working just like this one shown. I disconnected the battery and waited for 10 minutes and then reconnected the battery and it WORKED! It somehow reset itself. Just my experience of what happened. Be well. 😁😁
He said a refurbished unit from Ford but I called Ford and they said they only sell new. 700. + bucks . Too much. I bakes mine in the oven it worked for an hr at 385 . So then I baked it at 450 degrees and ruined it for good.
I have a Ford F150 model 2013, the same shape that I changed in the video, the radio does not work, and I bought a radio with a screen and full buttons, and when I went to the engineer, we found that all the connections and cables are completely different. Is it possible to change the connections and cables? Please help me if you have a solution
If I understand correctly you’re putting an after market radio and bezel into the truck. Do they list an adapter kit or jumper harness so it will plug in?
Forscan for windows is free to download, you’ll need a Windows laptop. You’ll need the extended license version, but you can get the free 2 month trial. An Obdlink EX cable to plug into the vehicle with is $59.95. Any competent Ford dealer could flash it after installation, some independent repair shops.
My 2013 F 150 also stopped working 5 days ago . The clock kept flashing, pushed every button on the dash. Picked up a new battery still nothing changed. One day later i hit a pot hole, like magic the radio works. Go figure.
Me too hit another and it came on. Saw all the posts and figured screw this I am replacing it. But the new radio will not even come on. All fuses are good . All power is good. I'll let ya know what I find. Oct 2023. So confirmed radio is dead. Go to Crutchfield and get one if u have issue. After months of trying everything and one else the only thing that fixed it was a new radio from Crutchfield. And it sounds better even with all factory speakers
Have you have any with a U0249 Lost Communication With Entertainment Control Module Rear B error code? And where it’s located or needing to be replaced? Cannot find much online.
@@CarShopTalk so perhaps a dummy error, there’s a grey plug in the very back under the console that leads to nothing and unsure what would it could plug into that makes me think that’s it.
@@LPerez I was going to look into that a little for you and I didn’t even see U0249 listed under a 2010 F150. What module is the code in, ACM? Has it had the ACM or APIM swapped or replaced? It sounds like it’s looking for a rear control unit that it’s not equipped with. U0249 is listed under Expedition which would have a rear control unit. Sounds like either someone swapped in an Expedition radio or turned on the rear control feature in the configuration / as-built data. I’d try down loading and installing the factory as-built file for the ACM and that should take care of your code.
@@johnparks9986 if you order a replacement ACM from Ford it should have the same ESM number. If you get install a used on or other you’ll probably have a different ESN and have to call Sirius and give it to them.
Mine has popped and cracked occasionaly for the past month....and just died yesterday :( Power button makes the clock come back on but shoot, this is more than diy backyard mechanic stuff now. I'll try battery disconnect
Lemme save yall some time . The radio has an internal problem and he just gets a new one .
Did that to my 2011 f150 it stopped working so I just got a hole new face and radio and the same exact thing is happening again
I bought new battery. All working

That’s a pretty reasonable price. You really can’t go wrong for that

I had this happen on a 2012 about a year ago. Took apart and did the oven trick. Been working every since with no issues.

Glad to hear that fixed it. I’ve seen that work a few times.
Very helpful, liked and subbed
Glad it helped, thanks!
sounds very proffesional.
Thanks
Would you mind sharing where you purchased your remanufactured audio control module? A link? Thanks!
It came through a Ford dealership.

How much is the system to scan it and change the codes. Or is there somewhere that can do that if I buy the part and install it.

Have you ever had to troubleshoot the Sony Amp? under the back seat?
I had a bad one I had to replace a couple years ago. I really haven’t seen a lot of trouble with them.

Any time things start working, call it a win 🤣
Ha, mine just stopped working today. I'll check the wiring. Haha
I have a 2013 f150 and mine just did the same exact thing 10 minutes ago
@@lawrencedemby9692 it seems to be happening on quite a few.
Same except it still doesn't work. Ford junk
2011 I believe it to be the same as the one you just replaced. What #'s do I need to look it up? Good video thank you.
A dealership should be able to look it up from the VIN. For used or a salvage yard you’ll need the part number off of the old one.
@@CarShopTalk Thanks
Good information. thank you
Thanks, you’re welcome!
My truck has the same issue would it work if I just change the stero
Yes
My radio plays but the screen turns off after a while. Can't figure it out
I went over a speed bump a little to hard and my radio also stopped working on my 2013 XL F-150

Mine just did this as well, isn’t it strange these all stopped working fairly close in time ?
Seems like a lot of them have been failing in the last year or two, yes.
What was the part called and where can I get it brotha
It was an audio control module (ACM). That one came from Ford.
Have you have any with a U0249 Lost Communication With Entertainment Control Module Rear B error code? And where it’s located or needing to be replaced?

I think that would be the controls in the back of the center console if it’s equipped.

Does it have BLIS / water in the tail lights?

This is my exact prob
Would not having the satellite radio antenna plug keep the radio from working
Shouldn’t affect anything but the satellite radio reception.
Can you list the link where you got the radio?
It came through a Ford dealership.
Where did you get the ford radio for that price
That’s how much a remanufactured one was from Ford at retail.

It’s getting more and more that way all the time.
If thats the case can u just put a aftermarket radio?
Yes
Sounds like a system update worldwide making this issue happening. My 2013 also acting up .. 🤔
I had a 13 Fusion with a bad sync module this week. I haven’t seen to many ACM’s lately.
Simple fix take radio out pour some alcohol in it let dry hook back up and your in business
my expereance is to put a maestro capable aftermarket radio versus problemed ford radios
That is definitely another way people can go.
Might not work long though, mine did not work long😊
Same shit with my truck hahaha
Seems like a lot of people have been having that problem.
Thanks for your help! And the video 👍🏼
