I used your video to remove my stereo and I appreciate all the info! My time was flashing and no sound/buttons were working, the temperature showed constantly and didn’t flash. I took apart the radio and removed the mother board on bottom and naked it in an oven at 385 degrees for 8 minutes. I let it fully cool and applied lithium grease to the side of the board that butts up to the heat shrink side. Worked like a charm!

My CD player was ejecting/loading/ejecting an imaginary CD for 2 days. Reset software system and pulled fuses but no luck. Went inside the radio and just removed the ribbon cable. CD player doesn't work now but my battery shouldn't die from it running when shut off. This video helped me get to the radio simply.

I think I'll try this. My truck keeps trying to eject a CD but I never use it. It only happens when the truck is on so my battery doesn't die but it's really annoying. Can't find any advice on it but I'll try disconnecting the ribbon. Thanks.

I have been getting static coming from my speakers and I tried the battery method but after cleaning all the corrosion from the terminals and reconnecting power, no change. I am not sure if the radio unit itself is bad or if it's something else. To clarify; it's not an antenna issue because aux, CD, and AM/FM all play static. And volume works. Increased volume means louder static. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does this cause the sync system to not work as well? No one with radio problems mentions the sync and steering wheel buttons not working but I have issues with it all not working, just wondering if a new radio will bring sync back to life.

three of my door panels speakers went out, and the stereo source button on the steering wheel will only cycle through sirius/xm and auxiliary, not FM or AM. This all happen after one individual engine start.

Do you have a video about connecting speakers. I have a 2011 F150 Lariat crew cab and the back speakers do not work. I have removed the speakers from the back and connected them to the passenger front connectors and both speakers work, but whe. They are in their respective doors in the rear I have no volume. Is there a connection somewhere in between the speaker and the stereo that I should check? Obviously there is a disconnect somewhere. Thanks.

The comment above said they baked it in the oven at 385 for 8 min and let it cool slowly. Problem solved.
The trouble is the surface mount components soldered on the board and the only way to solve this is to reflow them.
They bake the boards in the manufacturing process so you wont hurt them... but you must be precise.
There are many videos on youtube about reflowing boards in the oven

78ginop been through 6 disc head units. .Ford is aware but don't care. C'mon it's the 21st century. It's a god damn stereo. Been driving Ford since early 80s and am chocked at the quality and cost of the your product. This is what happens when it's sourced out of country. And the countries making these inferior parts are selling their products. With premium quality and our government gives them the break. Sell out..away 3rd disk unit. Going to put aftermarket unit in. Sync Sirius. Handsfree... need a double din. Faceplate needs swapped out.

2012 F150 -exact same problem with the flashing clock but no sound and a big disturbing sound occasionally coming out of speakers for a few days. Now its completely dead and soundless. I might try to remove it and bake it in the oven. I read that they dont use lead in solder anymore and after a few years the connections separate as the new alloy shrinks or dries out or something. The baking melts it a bit and re-establishes connections. If that fails, I'm going to go aftermarket.

Thanks for the info. My radio won't power ON when I press the power button. The clock will flash briefly but that's it. Also, the clock will flash every now and then which makes me think there is a bad connection somewhere. I have read that the solder they use in these radios are crap. Is it worth taking the radio out and checking for a loose connection? Seems kind of pointless if the solder is bad in the radio, probably will just keep f*cking up over and over again.

This doesn’t work in the slightest, ford radios are garbage, my 2012 radio went out and after some fiddling and furious percussive maintenance I have found that it is garbage. The dealership did not care they said it was owner fault and I told them to kick rocks and I’ll be moving towards a tundra in my next purchase, (more than a radio has driven me towards that). Ford has gone down the shitter in product reliability and customer service. Not even past 110k and my radio just dies. How does a radio just die? Terribly assembled with cheap products, not the Ford I grew up loving.
