Great video buddy. Didn’t realise a new one had dropped so disappointed to be 8 days behind. I particularly like how much time and effort you’ve put in to avoid having to rewire the plug!
More people should do something like this. I imagine once the dust is collected it is far easier to manage it outside than inside the shop. Great work!
Good video! I just subscribed. I wonder if it would have been better to mount the extractor the other way around so that the pipe comes straight out and avoid the 180 degree turn in the flexible hose? If you get trouble with airflow it might be worth a try.
Thanks for watching Kalev! Yeah, I would have liked the hose going straight through without the bend but there's no way of doing that with the position of the shed. I'm going to see how it works out and then, if I have to, maybe build a partition wall in the extractor shed so I can turn it round 90 degrees.
The main reason I got a 3d printer was to make dust connectors, it drove me nuts how nothing matches😅 I have the same extractor for my CNC, it's slightly underpowered but nice and quiet, cheers
Same here! Thats exactly why I bought one and then I just haven't stopped - love it. Good to know about your experience with the extractor. I'd love to own a CNC one day - I've seen loads of videos on my feed about the new Altmill lately.
@@shed_time I've seen that one I started with a second hand machine from CNC step, it had its limitations, now I have an I2RA , I love it, I see axminster tools now stock them, the process is a bit of a learning curve but well worth it
Great project will give more room inside the shed, having said that you must turn the extractor around as you have got the hose bent to much which will really cut down on air flow
Yeah I wish it was the other way round but there's no way to do that. The extractor is going to get put through its paces soon as I have loads of oak I need to run through it, so I'll see how it performs. if it ends up being a problem I might build a partition in the extractor shed and mount on that so at least it's turned 90 degrees.
@@shed_time Hello mate i hope you didnt take what i said the wrong way i was just trying to help, to be honest if i did a video on how my shed is set up and planned out i would be getting messages for years saying how i got things wrong some nicely and some not so nice, we all live and learn. Anyway hope you and your family have a brilliant christmas and a great new year
@@sandman2651 Not at all mate, I thought your comment was spot on and I genuinely do wish it was the other way around! I'm sorry if it came across that way, I honestly thought nothing of it other than I was glad that you took the time to comment on my video. I hope you and your family have a great Christmas too and look forward to speaking again in the new year 👍
Great video. I’ve looked at something similar but don’t have room to the side of my workshop. It does however have a loft space above which I’m thinking of using if I can find a way to get the collected dust back down. I might have to revisit this idea now in the new year.
Cheers Ross, hope all is well with you. The loft idea could work if you piped the dust down to ground level somehow, maybe a hard pipe down to a barrel / cyclone....I thought about replacing the bag on my extractor with a barrel but need to do some more research first.
Thanks for the video. Thinking of doing something similar. I hesitate on one point though: when using the extractor on a cold day, will all the warmth from inside your shed be sucked out?
Cheers Bruce. I do hear they suck the warm air out so it could be an issue...and my shed isn't particularly warm to start with! I'll see how it goes - I've got a lot of Oak to run through the thicknesser soon so I'll report back.
Great little project but you would have saved money using so pipe instead of flexi hose I understand the corrugating reduces air flow and cause turbulence in the system
Thanks George. By so pipe do you mean soil pipe? I think I will eventually replace the long hose with a solid pipe of some sort for the air flow reason you mentioned - I left it long for now whilst I figure out where my planer thicknesser will live.

Good video and well presented and I like the three D printed adaptors and other items, Very neat install as well.
Thanks...looks neater from a distance!
Brilliant Adam, good presenting style, we all appreciate the honesty😊
Cheers Peter - it was all going so well too!

We all make mistakes, the important thing is we learn from them. Nice build anyway.
Cheers Steve, appreciate it!

Great video. Really impressed with the 3d printed parts well done.
Thanks for watching - appreciate it!

@ that’s what I was thinking, it’s just how to fit it all into an awkward space. Time will tell on that one I think.

@ Yes Adam I have been watching quite a few videos re dust extraction using 2 vacuums at the moment but not ideal 🤨
I need to build something similar. I can guarantee I will cock it up !
Well you're welcome in my club if you do mate but I'm sure you won't - good luck with build if you do take it on.
