    Thanks for the acknowledgement Dr Hasmi! I donated my right kidney when I was only 21. Im already 47, my mom whom I donated to has passed several years ago. And I am currently a CKD 3 patient but have been on a plant based diet for 2 years now. Hopefully with my healthy lifestyle I can live long enough to be with my children and their children. Thank you for videos about ckd really helpful for me.❤

      Best daughter! 👏❤👏❤
      Btw, if your eGFR shows a low number, rest assured that your kidney function is actually not that bad as a typical patient with 2 kidneys with the same eGFR level (but not twice as good though), and I believe you have been told about this at the time you donated the kidney already.

    Hi doctor Hashmi, Would it be possible to get an appointment with you?. I am in stage 5, I am 30 years old. I just want to delay or avoid dialysis.

    I've been on dialysis with end stage renal failure for 3 years. Im still urinating. My doctor insists on a high enough protein diet to keep my albumin high. What do you think?

    With a low-protein diet, there is less muscle. With less muscle creatin numbers are going to be better.Lower creating number means kidney is better or one just doesn't have enough muscle to produce creatine?

    And how is one supposed to maintain muscle mass on this super low protein diet?? What if I want to continue working out? I'll be breaking down muscle with no fuel to replace it. Crickets?

    Is it good to just get moderate protein if your exercising. Low protein will not trigger protein synthesis, if this continue muscles, organs, inckuding brain will atrophy.

      Low protein diet is for ckd patients. The data continues to support this.

      As Dr. Hashmi said, just follow the data, it is the fact (in layman term), there is no question (among the medical experts) about the huge benefit of low protein diet in CKD patients. Follow it and patients will certainly live longer, healthier, happier.

    Question though Dr., is taking ketoanalogues helpful? I 2 tablets and my protein is 4 servings a day consisting mainly of plant based protein aside from my only animal protein which is 1 egg a day.

    Define kidneys disease. My kidneys are weak but my doctor said that's normal at my age. So what to think? From when a die is advised. I really don't think such videos, where no real data are provided and put into perspective are not very helpful

    • @hn5460
      @hn5460 Рік тому +1

      Your doctor should know whether you have CKD by definition or not, you should press him about it (kidney filtration rate below 60 or persistent protein in urine). If he said yes, then you better pay attention to your diet, try to follow a low protein, low salt, more fibre diet. This diet is actually good for everyone, especially when it provides roughly 0.8 g of protein for every kg of ideal weight (for a normal, healthy person). For CKD patients, the much lower intake (less than 0.5 g/kg) is even better.

    Is the low protein diet beneficial simply because it is low protein or because of the lower acid load? Thanks.

    • @hn5460
      @hn5460 Рік тому +2

      Low protein means less work for the kidneys, less accompanied saturated fat (for the average patient), less inflammation, more fibre and less salt (naturally), more beneficial gut bacteria, more micro nutrients (naturally). The list goes on and on, and from that we can clearly see why people tend to live longer, healthier on a low protein diet, and it is especially very true in CKD patients.

    Don’t you need to consume more animal protein when you workout a lot, even with CKD? 🤔
    Is animal protein the problem, or is it the artificial/man made additives found in processed meats like hot dogs, jerky, bacon & preservative/additive laden frozen dinners that’s causing kidney damage?

      Contrary to popular belief, man is not made for Animal based meat. Look at the teeth of lions or other animal eater and they'll have sharp teeth.

    I believe that low protein diet will help people, especially if they're eating lots of foods with fiber. USA misconception we need a lot of protein when we don't need a lot of protein. Americans also have no idea that fruits and vegetables have protein and small amounts with lots of fiber, which is healing. we need a lot of fiber, but not a lot of protein in my opinion. anyway, so interesting UA-cam. Thank you for sharing...
