    Protein is a complex matter. But generally speaking. We know that animal protein is not as healthy as plant protein. We also know that 7 out of 10 people who have or had cancer, their diet is the culprit. Furthermore, anything that comes from the cow contributes to incidence of cancer, that’s to include milk. Drive by a cow farm on a rainy day, and smell the stench and see how they live in their own excrement. It’s no wonder they have to inject them with antibiotics. We now have superbugs that are antibiotic resistant. The U.S. is approx. 4-5% of the world’s population, and yet we consume 70% of the world’s drugs! Big problem! They’re getting into our ground water and the molecules are so small, it is virtually impossible to filter them out. Long term use of any drug is not good. In many cases, they address one problem and create another, in turn we need more drugs to treat or just cover up the problems. It’s a vicious cycle. Are we the sickest country or what? Big pharma would like us to believe that, so they can sell us more drugs. Also, the food industry is directly responsible for this unhealthy mess we are in. So, if your not in good health, know and understand it’s not entirely your fault. Educate yourself then try and eat more RAW veggies and fruits. Because, anytime you cook food you change the molecules, in turn depleting nutrients.
    Look folks I’m a positive but pragmatic person. I see a bright future in healthcare, with the rapid advance of AI (artificial intelligence) which will transform our world (Socio-economic & political) beyond our imagination. Example: Deep Mind an AI company just revealed 200 million proteins! Huge bio-genetic breakthroughs are coming soon.
    Keep it simple folks, try and eat a bit less and focus on Raw veggies and fruits and take 3, 20-30 min walks a week. That’s it.
    And listen to Michele, she’s a smart lady.

    I was using vegan protein powder twice a day and believe I got kidney stones from it. Maybe to much oxalates. I have shunned it ever since and since gone whole food plant based. Does look like I need to watch my portion sizes on beans.
    I was using Montmorency Cherry Juice or dried cherries and it seemed to cause problems (uric acid?) with kidneys or gout like symtoms. Could be just drink/eating too much at a time. Plan on eating fresh or frozen and watch my portion sizes better.

    I’m a naturally very slim person and have been the same weights +/- 5lbs all my adult life. I’m currently Stage 3B, generally in good health an not diabetic. Hypertension is managed at 125/70 and prescribed dapagliflozin for about six months - eGFR has shown a little improvement and stable.
    My diet is now predominantly vegetable based protein ( I call myself an ‘Involuntary Vegetarian’ 😅) but I have lost 10lbs in the last twelve months. I’m 70 years but feel as if I’m heading into early sarcopenia even though I eat lots of carbs as well as my vegetables.
    Any ideas Dr Hasmi?

      @PlantBasedKidneyHealth  Рік тому +2

      Thank you for being a kidney donor! We have a couple episodes on solitary kidney. Being whole food, plant based is helping to protect your solitary kidney though! It is generally still best to avoid high/excessive protein intake since it increases renal blood flow and elevates intraglomerular pressure. But you likely wouldn't have to be low protein unless your labs were indicating stage 3+ CKD

      If a high protein/high calorie renal specific supplement is needed (sometimes for people on dialysis), it is ideal to make your own smoothie/shake with whole food ingredients. Both are options that can work for people with CKD! Brown rice will have more fiber than white rice.
