  • Rounding off our hiking holiday Alistair and Douglas climbed to the highest point in the Outer Hebrides, An Cliseam on the Isle of Harris. With views across the Isle of Lewis and Harris, North Uist, and back to the mainland of Scotland it is a breathtaking spot to be at.

      Beautiful views from the summit. Maybe consider the horseshoe if you have the time.

      @@HighlandHikers I'd love to do the horseshoe - especially if I get weather like that!

      Thank you! We didn’t see it unfortunately, and to be honest we didn’t know we could have until we were almost back down again. Next time we will just have to visit St Kilda instead!

    Being stuck away from the hills is killing me but seeing the superb days you guys have had over the last few videos has kept the dream alive (one more week... one more week).
    I'm itching to get back out and seeing these views has just solidified how much I'm missing the hills, plus I now have Harris and Lewis notched up the 'to do list'.
    As always, excellent stuff guys and I look forward to seeing more of the same.

      That must be hard going Bryan, was wondering why you hadn’t posted a video in a wee while. Hopefully you can get out soon enough!
      Harris and Lewis were fantastic to visit and we’d thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

      It's absolute murder but I have a day in sight, the ten day forecast doesn't bode well but I'm probably going out anyway, I need something.
      Hopefully one day I'll get across there and if I ever find the time I'd like to tackle the Hebridean Way. Just one of my many Scottish wishes.
      Hope to see you both out soon 👍🏼

    You lads struck lucky with the weather. I hope that when I eventually get there I see some of the same. As for Alistair making the effort, you're more likely to regret NOT doing something than doing it!

      We certainly did Allan, the weather was glorious for the next few days afterwards as well. Next week we’ll have a video covering some of the island when you can see the beautiful beaches in the sunshine.
      I contemplated not doing it cause I had injured my toe a few days before, an injury I’m still feeling the effects of over a month later.

    There's not really anywhere you could pitch a tent on the summit is there?

    • @HighlandHikers
      @HighlandHikers  Рік тому

      There are a couple of possible spots for a small tent but might be on a slight slops. There might be other options further round the longer route though.

    Hi can you describe the terrain in Harris and Lewis. I did hear and read that Lewis is flat but is there anything else you can say about the two?

    • @HighlandHikers
      @HighlandHikers  Рік тому +1

      Lewis is generally fairly flat, as far as Scotland goes, with rolling hills and steep cliffs down to the ocean on a lot of sides. As you head south towards Harris it becomes much more mountainous, especially as the island narrows, much more reminiscent of the Highlands.
