Well done Stuart, for not decking the bloke and giving photographers a bad name. I've come close a couple of times. Beautiful images from a stunning place.
Living in Cornwall I've done loads of sunrises/sunsets on the beach. People think nothing of letting their dogs run right in front of me and jumping up on me. They don't see the harm. Hopefully you still had a good time and this didn't spoil the trip. Have enjoyed this series
Yeah I've had that many times where it's completely accidental however this wasn't one of those occasions sadly, it didn't spoil the trip though, I've dealt with far far worse than that clown lol cheers for watching
I can say with absolute certainty that it isn't just Scotland! I've had to exercise every fiber of my being to keep myself out of jail here in the western USA too! Recent subscriber here and really enjoying your content (found you through a comment that that Adam Karnacz guy tweeted to you a while back 😁)
I had a drunk couple on a local beach at sunrise a few years ago who got abusive. It was early in the am & I was on my own. Nearly got attacked by my own tripod. Never been since. It is not a nice experience & I can feel for you. Happy shooting in them Glens & have a wee dram of single malt for me Stuart.
Ah I’m sorry to hear that Nicky that’s a shame, I hope you get back there someday. I’m fine my only regret is not flattening the guy though I’d have gained nothing by it. In some perverse way I think he wanted me to just so he could report it lol
Spectacular photography Stuart, outstanding ! Kudos for keeping calm with the DH, it's so easy for those situations to escalate and get totally out of control as I'm sure you know. You set a good example, cheers.
I can appreciate your frustration. Years ago, a friend and myself had setup at a waterfall approximately 4 feet from the waters edge and were waiting for just the right light as it diminished at golden hour when 2 fisherman walked right past us to the waters edge and started fishing directly in front of our cameras. We asked them if they would mind moving politely and we were completely ignored. Instead of causing a scene we just packed up and left. No further words were exchanged but I have a sore spot now when I see fishermen.
Finally got round to watching this. Cracking shots. Had a similar entitlement experience in Cornwall last summer that was totally unnecessary on the part of the other party.
Stirling work Stuart, new subscriber and very glad I found you. You have some really beautiful images here, always an inspiration to see other photographers work. It's unfortunate about the gentlemen and his mental insecurities but that's life I suppose, it's sad that he obviously now has a privileged life (regardless of his background) yet he hasn't an ounce of appreciation, compassion or thoughts for others. Although I have to say I often take my little dog out on many of my shoots and every now and then he runs through a composition leaving a trail of footprints, and yes the air goes blue and its often caught on video 😂😂😂 loving your channel 🙏
Thanks Izzy and thanks for subbing 👍 haha yep dogs do that, I’ve had this before and the owner might apologise and say they didn’t realise which would have been no problem at all. Just one of those things sadly
Awesome photos. As an American hearing this kinda thing is kinda nice to at least hear the guy wasn’t an American that moved there. Tho if he had been I wouldn’t have been even the slightest bit surprised
Hi Stuart. Great images what a fantastic spot. I hope to go there some day! I have to say that your story about the idiot with the dog really wound me up! I don't know how you kept your temper. Especially when he called your mate the c word!! I think I would have put him on his ar*se. I've come across a few like this over the years but none so blatantly aggressive. We all try to go by the "take only pictures, leave only footprints" moto. Wonder if he bothered picking up his dog turds from the dunes before getting back in his 4x4 BMW?? There's one born every minute!! Keep up the good work. Great content and great channel. All the best. Rich
Have I said that midground's messy before? LOL Love the patterns and the Beemer drivers beach shots are lush! Sounds like he was a typical Beemer driver! Enjoy Assynt looks like you might get a bit of snaw.
I stuck it on there just for you 🤣 mate I wanted a bloody medal for the restraint I had there lol cheers for watching aye a bit of white stuff would be nice it’s been bloody crap lately
Some really great photos Stuart. The sand had some fantastic patterns and colours in them. It looked like a great place to go (apart from the bafoon dog walking) A lovely series of videos. 👍
Fantastic images Stuart. The weather may have generally been unkind but you still got some great shots. I've only ever had one complete idiot myself. Castlerigg Stone Circle - fairly busy but I set up and wait for most people to clear but was aware of a group off to my side. The time came to take the shot when this guy decides to stand a few meters in front of my lens and proceeds to get his phone out and waves it around in an obvious attempt to mock me. After a few minutes a woman from his group dragged him off saying something like 'Why do you always have to be a d*ck and embarrass us'. I mouthed a thank you to her. Fortunately most people tend to have more sense and respect.
I've had similar problems at castlerigg stone circle and yes it is a busy place and I did the same thing and set up and waited for everyone to leave when this guy turned up set up a camera and tripod right in the middle of the circle and then proceeded to tell people not to walk into his shot. After 10 minutes I went over and asked how long he planned to be there - turns out he wanted to do a 1000 shot timelapse. I understand he has just as much right to be there as me... But conversely I've had locals see that I was trying to take a shot ask me if they should call their kids and dogs out of the shot.
Very sorry to hear about this experience Stuart, it must have put quite a dampener on your morning, but I’m pleased you still managed to take some great images beforehand (that close-up one is stunning). Hope you’re having a good trip up to Assynt! S
Thanks Sam aye one of those things, I’ve dealt with worse. Thanks for noticing the close up one I wish I’d filmed a timelapse they’d have been ideal for that
Sorry about the dog walker incident, but at least you got some spectacular images. Slowly working my way thru your vlogs and am really enjoying them. Thanks for sharing.
The landscape format image at 8:00 is a cracker. The dog walker sounds like a right tw*t. Kudos to you for having more or less kept your cool. And the images from Luskentyre at around 16:37 are spectacular!
I’m just across the A66 in the North East and often look in your Gallery when I’m in Keswick so hopefully you’ll print some of those super images and put them in the window! 👍
Even the images you don't think much of are terrific Stuart! I could've guessed beamer man wasn't a local - not saying I could deffo put a country on him, though gut feeling proved correct as the story unfolded! Three great vlogs too - keep em coming.
Hello Stuart. This is first time I’ve come across your channel. Fantastic stuff - beautiful images and very down-to-earth candid approach. Subscribed and looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Stunning images Stuart, shame about the dog walker incident. Russ and I are heading to the Lakes tomorrow for 2 weeks. Staying near Ambleside. We had booked to go back to that place in the Newlands Valley we stayed at last year which you came to. However a change of plan was required as they have a strict no pets policy and we now have a dog ourselves. Not planned but fate stepped in 😊 We will be coming up to Keswick at least once during our stay so will pop up to the gallery. Hopefully you’ll be there.
Absolutely beautiful images Stuart, always such an inspiration. So sorry to hear about the vile dog walker, sounded like he was brewing for an argument! I have no doubt the real locals would have bypassed you with their dogs and properly given you a cheery wave!
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Mark Twain said something at least similar to that and I have, with great difficulty, tried to follow its advice. As the idiot with a dog was walking away, you could have said to him "I hope you a day which is just as nice as you are." Very nice images Stuart.
I had something like this happen to me a few months ago. Drove 12 hrs to the Tetons in WY. A couple of cyclists got in way of the shot, stopped and just stood there. So I waited and waited. When they finally cleared the way for the shot and passed me, one of just laughed at me knowing he had blocked my shot. At that point, I wanted more to tackle him than take photos. I think there are places where the natives are territorial and get tired of photographers and get their kicks taunting them so they don't come around.
Great stuff, beautiful images Stuart. I've never really had a run in to that extent but had plenty of occasions where people walk over and stand directly in a shot and start texting or doing some other stuff on their phone. Understand I have no more right to be there than they do but still very frustrating, especially when they are not even enjoying the view! Some people 🙄
Oh absolutely we’ve all been there and you’re absolutely right no one has more right than others. This situation however was absolutely bizarre, it was almost staged
Great video Stuart love the leading lines and the pictures you put up mate. Don't know how you kept your cool mate, some people just have no respect for other people. Well done for being the better person and not throwing him into the sea.
Your final comment summed him up. A complete tool. I run a Fuji lab and one guy and his wife came in and I politely asked him to put on his mask as it was on his chin. Then he called me a jobsworth and started kicking off in the shop. I asked him to calm down but he tried to swing a punch at me at me across the counter and then called me the C word. I'm normally a relaxed character, but not this time. I saw red and ran round the counter and physically grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and shoved him out the door. The female staff were scared as he's started kicking the the counter and very menacing. He was in his late 50's. What a complete tool!!
That's really sad sorry to hear that Simon - it took every fibre of my being not to leather this guy though if that had happened in my gallery like your experience I'd have sent him cartwheeling down the street. What's funny is often the people who start these things are the least prepared for a response, it's as if they live in a bubble where they're the most important thing in the world and everyone around them are an insignificance.
Great images as usual Stuart. Sorry to hear about your encounter with that idiot. He was either very confident that he could handle himself against three guys or very stupid so I suspect it was the latter. People constantly disappoint me these days. It was good to chat to you recently in your gallery. Keep the vlogs coming. They are great.
Lovely photos as always. I think you handled the situation well and despite the stress managed to come away with great images. This happened to me last weekend. First time. But I’m sure it won’t be the last.
Some excellent work done there Stuart with lovely results. Some of these idiots who we call 'offcumdens' think they own the place when they move in. Looking forward to your next trip to Scotland. Thank you for all the effort.
Nice images. I'm heading up there this week end and if I get anything half as good I'll be over the moon. Pity about the clown - your analysis is spot on and sadly Mark is correct - I noticed in the Highlands these sorts ended on the community councils etc and often caused havoc. The local highlanders are usually very nice, welcoming people.
Fantastic images Stuart! Having met you before, at Borrowdale Mill, I found you a respectful, jovial and decent bloke, and we have all encountered the 'entitled' idiots before. Some folks don't care if you are enjoying a day out, work or leisure, and just want to amuse themselves with someone else's frustration. hard to ignore these numbskulls but his time will come! Carry on the great work mate!
I almost passed on this because of the title. You are correct, your idiot was trying to prove a point, that he was and is and idiot. I have not experoienced the aggressive idiot yet while shooting, just the mindless ones who think they are the only ones that matter. There really is nothing you do but step back, some how. And I was impressed with your images and I now follow you and will go back in your timeline to watch more and look forward to your new adventures. Happy you did not punch him out, justified but not warranted. Thanks for sharing,
Hi Glen thanks for watching - yeah I know what you mean about clickbait-type titles though at least my video actually contained the content advertised lol appreciate you subscribing thanks
Wow...those last images are stunning! I've wanted to go back to Scotland to photograph, for ages. I admit, the last time we were there, there were a couple of times at restaurants where we kept our mouths shut so no one would know we were from the US...as there were tourists there that were beyond rude that we didn't want anyone associating us with them. Yeah, a lot of folks these days are just aching for a confrontation... that's too bad it was in that spot - but the good news is you got some incredible shots before they showed up!
Very interesting but rather dispiriting to hear of your experience. You’ve summed it up in a balanced way. Another fine set of images of course. And bravo on getting to 4k!
Looks like you got some fantastic images, this is why most photographers prefer to photograph away from people lol - hope you trip to Scotland is going well!
Thankfully that angry-local-not-local happens very infrequently. Most people I come across are interested in what we're doing. A frequent question when photographing landscapes is "what bird are you photographing?"....!!
Not everyone's like that. I was shooting a wedding party in a park in the centre of Birmingham once. A homeless guy, completely unprompted, rounded up his mates and their stuff and moved them away as far as possible for me. I would never have asked them to move.
As you were telling the tale about the dog walker I was thinking this doesn’t sound like a local. Thank goodness it wasn’t. I’m a jock and I’m going to the lakes in April and will have wee look at your gallery.
Cheers Maurice, I’m sure the locals are absolutely lovely up there - I suspect this guy probably moved there and resents photographers spoiling ‘his’ dog walk 🤣
Truly outstanding images Stuart, well-deserved growth in subs. As for the entitled BMW driving Londoner, we get them here in Cornwall too, usually driving an Audi or Volvo estate car, buying up the best houses, then letting them out as Air BnB's. Emmetts we call 'em.
Another good video mate. Found exactly the same things in those dunes in October. I had in mind a shot similar to yours but it wasn't really happening unfortunately
Fantastic images, very atmospheric and really show the stunning landscape. Such a shame about the interuption....it really does seem like there's 'always one' somewhere wherever you go and it can be in the remotest corner of the country and they're there spoiling it for everyone else. Your hard work and pictures got the upper hand in the end...Great stuff!
Those sand patterns were otherworldly and lovely images of them. I bet that chap has planned what he was going to do all the way up the beach and certainly not the first photographers he’s done it to. Just enjoy imagining how unhappy every day his life must be if that’s his mentality, he’ll end up doing it to the wrong person on one day and create some sand patterns of his own, with his face.
Cheers Paul, oh believe me he was close to me being that person if it had gone on much longer, there’s only so much provocation one can take despite wanting to rise above it. Cheers for watching
I'm usually disrupted by my own two children. When I want to chase a sunset I often have to take them along with me. Inevitably in their search for "pretty rocks" they wander right into my scene. The nerve! :D
Those last shots that you showed were brilliant, I presume they were taken before the altercation. I understand your point of view very well, I was recently taking a picture from a public path when a small group of walkers approached, all but one stopped and recognised what I was doing but one walked straight into my shot and waved the others on in a way that clearly intended to interrupt me. Thankfully the group waited and the challenger walked on out of shot. After a while the group continued and apologised as they passed by me. Why did that one person behave in that way? Thanks for these three vlogs from Harris they were great.
Cheers Keith yes those shots were from our second visit there when we had some light but I didn’t do any video. This was a strange one I must say, most people inadvertently get in a shot etc which obviously I’ve no issue with and is expected, this situation felt very staged and deliberate - some people are strange I guess, same with the walker in your shot. I don’t get the mentality but there you go. Cheers for watching
Enjoyed the vid, thanks. I know and love Luskentyre, as a dog walker and a (very) amateur photographer. There's no accounting for peoples stupid behaviour, definitely not a local, they have more sense and respect. Only just found your channel so now subscribed and enjoying your posts. Thanks.
First of all love your images here. Looks a beautiful place. I can honestly say that in fifteen years of wildlife and landscape photography, I’ve had every imaginable incident with dog walkers. I have to say in my experience, that it’s the majority of them who are like this too. In all this time I’ve had dogs aggressive towards me, sniffing my bag, my crotch, fighting between them around my tripod and exactly only three times have the owner’s apologise. And yes, I’ve had instances where I was photographing at a dead end to a beach as in your situation, and they deliberately came over in front of me. They even walk their dogs where signs say no dog walkers. For me they are arrogant and selfish. Part of the enjoyment of my photography is to enjoy the location and the peace and quiet. Dog owners (and it is the owners) ruin this. Rant over.
Thanks for watching Frank, my experiences for the most part have always been positive with dog walkers or passers by though I tend to always be in areas devoid of people - sadly this sort of thing is inevitable from time to time, idiots are everywhere! 🤣
Very nice images! Someday I want to visit and shoot that area. Actually my International Macaulay Clan reunion this year is in that area but I am in the US WA State and unable to make it. Enjoying your videos.
Beautiful images Stuart, I am sure you will be selling a few of them in your Gallery. I was just very glad it wasn't a Scot or a local that was making an arse of himself. I have come across similar a few times over the years and on all occasions, they were deep Southerners who had bought a pile with some land and chose to forget our laws up here are a little different.
Gorgeous shots Stuart, just happened upon your channel through UA-cam recommendations! Got yourself a new sub. Oh, & well done on maintaining your composure and not decking the prick, not sure I'd of been so kind 😂
I feel your pain mate,we have been going to the islands for years and by and large the locals are great people and as long you appreciate their way of life they are usually very friendly. However not all visitors are, seems like know the islands are getting busier it brings out the worst in some people. Some great shots by the way.
As a real local, born and bred, with a long detour via London, I can tell you that the real locals would never have acted as such! Glad that you sussed out his "type" as there are many of them everywhere. Your friend got in it one! That guy was of the "entitled" mob and much as we welcome incomers here, these are the types we can well do without! Sorry about your encounter and I hope your next trip won't be a waste of time and more stress free!
Thanks Mary yeah sadly these types are everywhere, we have a lot of them in the lake district also, they reek of self-entitlement - where they get it from I've no idea! Thanks for watching :-)
Wonderful photographs Stuart first of all, I’ve had this happen to me too and I’m a dog owner, if I was walking with my dog and saw some photographers I would double back away from them so when it happens to me I just can’t work out why would they do that? Especially when you’ve got a thousand dollars worth of filters on your camera let alone the cost of the camera and lens ! I’m always ready to pick it up when dogs come charging up and one eye on my bag as I’ve had it peed on in the past!
Silver lining mate: huge view count for this vlog and I tripped over it and watched and now I'm a subscriber. I do have to wonder though if their's a British photographer alive that hasn't got a youtube channel. 😆 lol
Haha yeah sadly Tim it’s a necessary evil to have one these days if you’re full time, if I did this for a hobby I almost certainly wouldn’t be doing UA-cam. There’s too big a potential audience to reach for relatively little outlay other than time.
Lovely images ...re the dog walker - entitled little angry men are hiding in all places around us. It was just unlucky and unusual that you met one in such a lovely and peaceful place. He just needs to try that behaviour with the wrong guys in the wrong place one time and will never do it again..seen it happen :-)
Cheers Tim - he was perilously close to me being that wrong guy if it had gone on much longer, there’s only so much provoking one can take. Little to gain for me in that situation. Cheers for watching
@@StuartMcGlennon I remember such a person behaving like that when I was with a with a friend of mine - a proper gentleman - defensive Rugby Union player..in the end my friend , who never said even one word just picked him up carried him a short distance and dropped him in the river..thankfully this little angry man could swim!!
TBF to dog owners this individual would probably still be a knob if he wasn’t a dog owner. PS I love that bit of beach - it’s incredible. More interest than main luskentyre IMO
Nicely done! How often do you shoot under 24mm with that lens? I'm consider buying this in the future, but I wasn't sure if I would use the full benefit, and rather get the 24-120mm.
Thanks Colton - this trip was rare for me in that I almost exclusively shot wide angle (it’s just that sort of landscape) though ordinarily maybe about 50% of my shooting is with this lens and maybe only 20% of those ultra wide. I think if you’re unsure the 24-120 would be a really great option. I rarely shoot wider than 18-20mm
Amazing shots on that beach with those patterns! Shame about the idiot that ruined it for you. Glad you were able to at least get those! Glad to find your channel! Subscribing now!
Just stumbled across your channel (first video I’ve watched but some great images), and now subscribed 👍 Can’t quite place your accent but are you from the north east of England area?
Thanks Paul - I’m West Cumbrian our accent can sound a little north east at times, it’s a bit of a hybrid of geordie and Lancashire depending on which part of the county it is. I have to tone the accent down a bit for UA-cam lol
These last few beach vlogs have really made me homesick for a country I don't even originate from. Been so often it's made it feel like that I suppose. Thanks for that :) Also loved the photography. Too bad about the dog walkers - never experienced it to that extent myself. Being a woman probably helps, it makes people behave better I suppose. Although I've had my share of people walking through the scene with half a mile of beach behind me stood at the waters edge.
Well the pictures, at the end especially, were worth this adeventure :-) I'm shooting a local woodland for years now and find myself going less and less because the selfish dogwalkers. Kinda making a choice .. punch someone or just not going. Luckily I'm older now, 10 years a go I would make the wrong choices :-)
What an absolute 🍆 that dog walker was 🤬 and you confirmed that when you said he drove a 'Beemer' 🤣 That aside you've captured some stunning images over the series of vlogs, we were hoping yo visit the area this year but funds won't allow so it'll be next year now
I just don't understand people like that. What on earth do they get out of that sort of behaviour? Still, you did come away with some nice shots Stuart. Look forward to seeing some more from your return visit.
I've had a few dog owners do similar and when they saw my expression say, in all honesty, sorry I thought the dog would have made a good photo opportunity! Sounds to me like the guy had been having a rough run and wanted to get away from everyone. Still no excuse for behaving that way.
Cheers for watching Simon, I’ve had similar also and people make honest mistakes which I’d sympathise with entirely - this felt far too staged for it to be an accident sadly, he had zero reason to lob a ball towards us from 20 odd yards away given the sheer volume of space around him
So....you haven't found the "remove the dog walker" slider in Photoshop. Very nice location and I love the patterns! It's always difficult dealing with someone being passive aggressive. I have total sympathy for other users of the locations I photograph but it's frustrating when it appears they are deliberately messing with you! Where I live there are a lot of entitled people. Always best to walk away and not to internalize the anger!
Cheers Terry it’s ok I’ve had a rougher Sunday mornings to be honest I was more annoyed at not getting the filming done than anything else! Cheers for watching 👍
Im sorry for saying this i think i would of beat the crap out of that guy, that was done intentional no doubt in my mind.. anyway stunning photography n stunning location .GOD BLESS !!
Definitely wet my appetite for a trip to Harris & Lewis Stuart but may not be able to fit it in this year. I find some people very considerate around me when I'm taking photos but a fair number are not unfortunately. I've had to shout at a dog to stop it cocking it's leg on my camera bag and the owner seemed to take that the wrong way! Thankfully I've had nothing like what you experienced but makes me wonder what would have happened if you had been on your own and not with 2 others. I think if you approached a dog walker and asked them not to come through your shooting area there is at least a 50% chance the other person will take it as you being aggressive or trying to stop them going where they 'have a right to'. I'd have thought 3 of you shooting the same area would have been hint enough! Anyway, cracking images.
Very Nice Stuart 4240 + '1' subscribers now - just joined. Only just came across your channel & your vlogging technique & content got me to hit the subscribe button. Some excellent images in this video & I'm looking forward to having a look at your back catalog. Sounds like that bloke was a total idiot & good on you to not rise to the occasion. Nice one - John
I've had members of the public deliberately walk into an area when I'm photographing. Happened last week when a woman deliberately walked into the bushes I was watching when trying to image a wren. I ignore them as 9 times out of 10 they want reaction.
Hi Grant I’ve been fortunate in that it’s only happened a small handful of times over the years and ordinarily like you I would ignore also, however in this instance when the person is as hostile and aggressive as this guy was it needed to be dealt with
I don't own a home but one day I'll end up buying a 2 bedroom place. I will only be able to have 5 photos on my walls, any more would look excessive. So my goal as a photographer has been to just capture 5 great images. So far with 13 years behind the camera I probably have 2 printable shots. I've been to places such as the Lofoten Islands in Norway and never turned my camera on. I recall being there and seeing hordes of photographers running around on workshops trying to get all the shots they'd seen online. In instances like that there's almost a feeding frenzy that I found distasteful. I can only imagine what the locals think of it too. Obviously that doesn't excuse people like your dog walker, but if I look back and think of that time in Norway I can see things from both sides. These days my ethos is just to capture one good shot a year, but then of course I'm not a pro.
Some fine images, shame you were cut short in your photography by that idiot! I have only had one run-in while out shooting, which was at a popular rock area that free climbers like to scale. I was there with four others to capture the basalt columns, and two climbers,a couple apparently, began berating us for invading the location...a spot that everyone knows and goes to for hikes and family outings also. It's the entitled ones that think they own the area that are the primary offenders, and this couple considered this rock face their own personal playground. We were all considerate, kept our distance, busy shooting details of lichen or the abstract patterns of the basalt, not bothering them at all! Sometimes there will be idiots that you just have to shake your head at and leave be!
Ah that’s a shame Neil yeah sounds very similar, I’m not sure what goes through these people’s heads. When he said to me that ‘he lived there’ I just started howling, absolute moron mentality. Thanks for watching 👍
Sorry about the idiot; that is worse than anything I have run into. Usually just asking someone to give you some space or standing aside for a few minutes will get it done.
I feel for you on that one Stuart. Some folks have absolutely no concept of common decency. Shame you didn't record it and shame him publicly, of coarse you'd be wise to blur out his face but hey! Shame to say there are a few bar stewards out there that get enjoyment from spoiling the times of others, I guess they lead a sad life and that's the only way they can get any attention. Glad you managed to get some stunning images prior to the rude interruption.
Thanks Colin yeah to be honest in hindsight a bit of footage might have helped though I was too busy stopping myself from doing something daft. Cheers for watching glad you liked the images :-)
I had one down in Cornwall, walking dogs no problem but then stops and starts picking up shells in front of the camera view. So I took the camera off the tripod and starts walking around them in circles taking shots of them, they buggered off. But the knobhead you had sounds like a complete crazy person and one day he will do it to the wrong person.
Haha that's made me laugh - I did actually say that to him and I was about 2 minutes away from being that wrong person, the only thing that stopped me was that I think he weirdly wanted a reaction just so he could report me. Some people are just nuts lol
Beautiful images, and what a shame about your "friendly" meeting. I know you get sometimes selfish people also without a dog. Walking and standing in front of the tripod. Perhaps they feel lonely if they walk on the big empty space behind you? Have a lovely weekend
Thanks Heinz, to be honest I think it was deliberate, he was very quick to point out that ‘he lived there’ which makes absolutely zero difference. It just looked like he’d planned to do it to see if he could wind me up
Well done Stuart, for not decking the bloke and giving photographers a bad name. I've come close a couple of times. Beautiful images from a stunning place.
It took all my patience Ian! Cheers for watching glad you enjoyed it
Big car small........... those images will last for a 100 years and bring joy to many. The better man won 🏆 🙂
Haha cheers Simon, was bloody hard to refrain though!
Living in Cornwall I've done loads of sunrises/sunsets on the beach. People think nothing of letting their dogs run right in front of me and jumping up on me. They don't see the harm. Hopefully you still had a good time and this didn't spoil the trip. Have enjoyed this series

I can say with absolute certainty that it isn't just Scotland! I've had to exercise every fiber of my being to keep myself out of jail here in the western USA too!
Recent subscriber here and really enjoying your content (found you through a comment that that Adam Karnacz guy tweeted to you a while back 😁)
Thanks very much yep idiots are a universal breed 🤣
Great pictures and hopefully that unfortunate incident with the money ape is just going to be once in a lifetime experience
Thanks Hjörleifur yeah sadly these things happen, just an idiot. Cheers for watching :-)
I had a drunk couple on a local beach at sunrise a few years ago who got abusive. It was early in the am & I was on my own. Nearly got attacked by my own tripod. Never been since. Thanks very much glad you enjoyed the images 👍
Cheers for watching - I think ‘idiot’ knows no nationality to be honest, we’ve plenty over here as well!
Rich
Cheers Richard believe me it took all my patience not to do that lol thanks for watching
Cheers Peter I really enjoyed the trip, can’t wait to go back
Fantastic images Stuart.
Ah that’s a shame to hear, sounds like a mindless idiot. I’ve no idea what goes through peoples minds when they do this
I've had similar problems at castlerigg stone circle and yes it is a busy place and I did the same thing and set up and waited for everyone to leave when this guy turned up set up a camera and tripod right in the middle of the circle and then proceeded to tell people not to walk into his shot.
Thanks Hans much appreciated 👍
The landscape format image at 8:00 is a cracker.
The dog walker sounds like a right tw*t. Kudos to you for having more or less kept your cool.
And the images from Luskentyre at around 16:37 are spectacular!
Thanks Rob that’s very kind of you, cheers for watching
Some fantastic images in the video, much better than mine when I was last there.
Thanks 👍👍
I’m just across the A66 in the North East and often look in your Gallery when I’m in Keswick so hopefully you’ll print some of those super images and put them in the window! 👍
Even the images you don't think much of are terrific Stuart! I could've guessed beamer man wasn't a local - not saying I could deffo put a country on him, though gut feeling proved correct as the story unfolded! Three great vlogs too - keep em coming.
Thanks Drew, was really pleased in the end with the images, cheers for watching
Hello Stuart. This is first time I’ve come across your channel. Fantastic stuff - beautiful images and very down-to-earth candid approach. Subscribed and looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Thanks Martin much appreciated 👍
Stunning images Stuart, shame about the dog walker incident. Russ and I are heading to the Lakes tomorrow for 2 weeks. Staying near Ambleside. We had booked to go back to that place in the Newlands Valley we stayed at last year which you came to. However a change of plan was required as they have a strict no pets policy and we now have a dog ourselves. Not planned but fate stepped in 😊 We will be coming up to Keswick at least once during our stay so will pop up to the gallery. Hopefully you’ll be there.
Hi Sarah sorry I missed this nice to hear from you, hope you enjoyed your trip 👍
Absolutely beautiful images Stuart, always such an inspiration. So sorry to hear about the vile dog walker, sounded like he was brewing for an argument! I have no doubt the real locals would have bypassed you with their dogs and properly given you a cheery wave!
Haha yep absolutely my thoughts exactly - thanks for watching
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Mark Twain said something at least similar to that and I have, with great difficulty, tried to follow its advice. As the idiot with a dog was walking away, you could have said to him "I hope you a day which is just as nice as you are." Very nice images Stuart.
Haha I'm the same though everyone has limits lol cheers for watching
Cheers mate he was about 2 mins away from it if he’d carried on
Your final comment summed him up.
Thanks Anthony glad you’re enjoying them👍
Lovely photos as always. I think you handled the situation well and despite the stress managed to come away with great images. This happened to me last weekend. First time. But I’m sure it won’t be the last.
Cheers Billy ah that’s a shame to hear, it’s why I included it in the video as I know many will have experienced similar
I can surely relate as it happens often when shooting a beach sunset. I love your work and your channel. Always looking forward to your next video.
Thanks Mitchell that’s kind of you, glad you enjoy them 👍
Some excellent work done there Stuart with lovely results. Some of these idiots who we call 'offcumdens' think they own the place when they move in. Looking forward to your next trip to Scotland. Thank you for all the effort.
Thanks John much appreciated
Nice images. I'm heading up there this week end and if I get anything half as good I'll be over the moon. Pity about the clown - your analysis is spot on and sadly Mark is correct - I noticed in the Highlands these sorts ended on the community councils etc and often caused havoc. The local highlanders are usually very nice, welcoming people.
Thanks Iain I’ve just returned from this years trip and thankfully no idiots this time! Best of luck with your trip 👍
Cheers Richard, can’t legislate for idiots sadly, his time very nearly came for him there if he’d carried on much longer lol cheers for watching 👍
Nice one Stuart, lovely images and well crafted videos.
Thanks Graeme
Great images Stuart, especially from the area where you were so rudely interrupted. Nice video
Cheers matey much appreciated
Top images Stu as per usual, I have a thing about BMW people!
Thanks pal I think we probably all do!
Thanks very much :-) yeah sadly there's idiots everywhere, we've as many here as you guys lol hope you get back to Scotland in the future
Ok dear what a terrible situation Stuart I am sorry that all of this happened.
It’s ok Kathryn I’ve had rougher Sunday mornings to be honest 😂 just an idiot lol thanks for watching
Your photos are fantastic. Great work!
Thanks Fred 👍
Very interesting but rather dispiriting to hear of your experience. You’ve summed it up in a balanced way. Another fine set of images of course. And bravo on getting to 4k!
Cheers Howard 👍
Looks like the sand piled up on the grasses at 3:58 was from a particularly high spring tide. This looks like a breaking wave dumped the sand here
I could be wrong but I don’t think the tide gets up that far at this spot the beach itself is very shallow
Looks like you got some fantastic images, this is why most photographers prefer to photograph away from people lol - hope you trip to Scotland is going well!
Cheers Justin - haha I don't people just idiots lol!! Thanks for watching
3 nice vlogs mate, looking forward to the assynt ones 👍
Cheers matey
Lovely photos and settings...!
Thanks 👍
Thankfully that angry-local-not-local happens very infrequently. Most people I come across are interested in what we're doing. A frequent question when photographing landscapes is "what bird are you photographing?"....!!
Haha yep people are always amazed you’re just shooting the scene rather than a bird in flight, I’ve had that one a lot too 🤣
Not everyone's like that. I was shooting a wedding party in a park in the centre of Birmingham once. A homeless guy, completely unprompted, rounded up his mates and their stuff and moved them away as far as possible for me. I would never have asked them to move.
99% of people aren’t like that, just an idiot in isolation
Thanks very much glad you enjoyed it - yep they’re everywhere sadly, lakes is full of them also!
Another good video mate. Found exactly the same things in those dunes in October. I had in mind a shot similar to yours but it wasn't really happening unfortunately
Cheers mate they require a lot of work don’t they. Could spend days wandering through that area
Cheers, thanks very much for watching
What an effing jerk that guy was. But the images you posted on these vlogs have still been beautiful which I've really enjoyed. Thanks Stuart 😊
Cheers Bob much appreciated
The nerve! :D
Haha I've been there James!
Thanks.
Thanks for subscribing Sue glad you enjoyed it 👍
First of all love your images here.
Cheers John I hope you make it there it’s a stunning place. Thanks very much for watching
Yep that’s the overriding opinion, true locals would never give you that grief unless they had good reason.
Inspirational images...!!
Thanks 👍
Hahaha, you just have to laugh at people like that buddy! Some lovely images matey
Gorgeous shots Stuart, just happened upon your channel through UA-cam recommendations! Got yourself a new sub. Oh, & well done on maintaining your composure and not decking the prick, not sure I'd of been so kind 😂
Cheers Paul thanks for subbing, yep I was about 2mins off doing that to be honest
I feel your pain mate,we have been going to the islands for years and by and large the locals are great people and as long you appreciate their way of life they are usually very friendly.
However not all visitors are, seems like know the islands are getting busier it brings out the worst in some people.
Some great shots by the way.
Yep just one of those things, as you say most locals are usually spot on
Another great entertaining video
Thanks Richard
Just watched this, really sympathise with the circumstances but my goodness, those images you managed to get really are gorgeous.
Thanks Maureen, had rougher Sunday mornings to be honest though it’s never ideal when you’re trying to do something. Glad you liked the images 😀
Cheers Carl yeah just one of those things, can’t legislate for idiots!
Your description of him as a complete tool is right… it’s about having respect for fellow people whether tourist, local or otherwise!
Absolutely
Beautiful images Stuart 💙
Thanks Anne 👍
Lovely images
...re the dog walker - entitled little angry men are hiding in all places around us.
Oh it’s not a dog owner thing this guy was just an idiot period
Great images in spite of the jerk! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Randy
Awesome photos..... on the dog walker, I may have clocked him with my tripod and told him to F off
Cheers 👍 believe me he was close to getting the hiding of his life
Nicely done!
Thanks very much glad you enjoyed it 👍 cheers for subscribing
Entitled people who move in and take over - Ah yes, We have the same problem here in Wales. Great video and lovely photos.
Thanks Rory yes there's idiots everywhere sadly
Just stumbled across your channel (first video I’ve watched but some great images), and now subscribed 👍 Can’t quite place your accent but are you from the north east of England area?
Thanks Paul - I’m West Cumbrian our accent can sound a little north east at times, it’s a bit of a hybrid of geordie and Lancashire depending on which part of the county it is. I have to tone the accent down a bit for UA-cam lol
@@StuartMcGlennon ah, right, that’s probably why I couldn’t quite place it. 👍
Thanks Sannie it’s such a stunning place
Well the pictures, at the end especially, were worth this adeventure :-) I'm shooting a local woodland for years now and find myself going less and less because the selfish dogwalkers. Kinda making a choice .. punch someone or just not going. Luckily I'm older now, 10 years a go I would make the wrong choices :-)
Thanks Kamil 👍👍 don’t let them put you off just count to ten 🤣
@@StuartMcGlennon Lately counting at least to 720 😂
What an absolute 🍆 that dog walker was 🤬 and you confirmed that when you said he drove a 'Beemer' 🤣 That aside you've captured some stunning images over the series of vlogs, we were hoping yo visit the area this year but funds won't allow so it'll be next year now
Thanks Paul I hope you make it up there it’s such a stunning place
I just don't understand people like that. What on earth do they get out of that sort of behaviour? Still, you did come away with some nice shots Stuart. Look forward to seeing some more from your return visit.
I’ve no idea Neville, some people just love an argument even if it means they risk getting a hiding in the process
Haha cheers Juan, believe me it took all my patience not to! Thanks for watching
Cheers Steve yeah you’d think though some people would argue with their own shadow if they could! Cheers for watching
Thanks for subbing John yep that guy was an absolute melon but there you go - no accounting for idiots
Great photos though…so a winner
Thanks :-)
I watched a few of your Vlogs . Keep up the good work. Don't Worry about this P***K.
Cheers Kev oh I wasn’t worried lol (well apart from stopping myself getting a record lol)
@@StuartMcGlennon I am Scottish, and I would have went to another part of the beach.
16:40 Amazing image!
Thanks Matthew 👍
I've had members of the public deliberately walk into an area when I'm photographing.
Happened last week when a woman deliberately walked into the bushes I was watching when trying to image a wren.
I ignore them as 9 times out of 10 they want reaction.
Hi Grant I’ve been fortunate in that it’s only happened a small handful of times over the years and ordinarily like you I would ignore also, however in this instance when the person is as hostile and aggressive as this guy was it needed to be dealt with
@@StuartMcGlennon unfortunately sometimes that is the case.
This person's action back up a strong belief I have, that stupidity is universal.
Great set of video, but the dog walker, well we can say the same for the Yorkshire Dale's, Lakes, lots of money and no idea
Cheers Ian yep absolutely!
Sorry about the idiot; that is worse than anything I have run into. Usually just asking someone to give you some space or standing aside for a few minutes will get it done.
Sadly there’s just no accounting for the odd idiot, thankfully it’s rare
Common courtesy shouldn’t be too much to ask. And you wouldn’t expect this incident in such a remote place. Great shots nonetheless.
Cheers Terry yep they were the only people we encountered the entire week as well (didn’t see one photographer strangely)
