Another piece of evidence against the Dawn Blade being Anaris is that, in the Craftworlds codex, the Shard of Anaris is a relic option. It says that "When Kaine was shattered in battle with Slaanesh, Anaris too was splintered, the fragments of both blade and wielder coming to rest within the Craftworlds."

    • @bladestormviking

if it is not explicitly stated that all the bits are present/accounted for, there's always an option for a piece of Anaris to be made into another weapon.

You have to imagine the blade being in this specific temple, near the portal, isn't just a massive coincidence. I think that portal was built specifically to summon demons to empower the blade, or maybe the blade was used to slay demon to consume their power/life force. The hexagrammatic seals are just there as extra protection around the portal, so demons can't just run away.

Given its slender and ornate design it's definitely Eldar Origin.
There are two possibilities considering the location:
1- A pre-Slaneesh Eldar temple, it is known their debauchery caused the creation of Slaneesh so maybe this was erected to please some old Eldar weird fixations and in turn became a Shrine for Slaneesh.
2- It's an old pre-Slaneesh Eldar temple but it was abandoned after it's awakening, later taken by chaos worshipers (Eldar or otherwise) and turned into a Chaos Shrine for Khorne (blood for the blood god and all that)

    • @DarkBattleMage0407
      @DarkBattleMage0407 3 роки тому +3

If it is Eldar in origin perhaps it actually a pre-fall Khaine Shrine that was commandeered by Khorne in the millennia after the Eldar's fall. Perhaps in addition to the pleasure cults there were bloodletting cults that believed they were worshipping Khaine, but were strengthening Khorne. Maybe that is why Khorne wanted Khaine, a fellow War God who he could battle for eternity instead of merely spectating the mortal battles.

WH40K also has numerous examples of the Aeldari building temples around historic Warp access points, so instead of having his troops throw the objects into the Warp, they were probably put there to help in defense if the gate ever opened again. Oops.

Tau aren't even resistant to Warp powers, they're just less likely to be noticed. Only a trained powerfull psyker OR pariah can resist warp. Tau has neither of those. They're just less "glowing in the dark" then humans and eldar, who're psionic by default. So even touching such artifact would already render any such "camo" pointless.

Rather than being Necron or Eldari technology, there is possibility that the Dawn Blade is both. I believe that the base material of the blade was a chronophagic weapon salvaged by an Eldari weapon-smith, possibly Vaul himself, after the end of the War in Heaven. The smith would reforge the blade into a weapon worthy of a great champion, just not the one he would have expected. Not all Eldari weapons are made of wraithbone, I recall reading about a sword made for an Eldari hero out of the salvaged chitin/bone of an unknown Tyranid Hive Fleet.

Arthas Moloch most likely was a Necrontyr world that fell during the war with the Old Ones.
Necrontyr were noted as being very 'human-like' in many sources, with Arthas Moloch's statuary being noted as such (all faceless, though).
Vykola Herat, the ex-Ordo Xenos Inquisitor that traveled with High Commander Farsight during the Farsight Expedition would have noted if Arthas Moloch's architecture and ruins as being Aeldari or not. She makes no mention of it being Eldar and is just as perplexed as the t'au as to the origins of the world and its culture that created it.
The Dawn Blade most likely (in my opinion) is a vampiric Necrontyr blade, since before going through the fires of biotransference into the Necron, the Necrontyr were obsessed with extending their lives, and the jealousy they developed in regards to the Old Ones' abilities and immortality being a key factor in the reasoning behind their war with them in the first place.
The dias and portal on Arthas Moloch most likely was an Old One Soul Gate, used to move their forces around during their war with the Necrontyr. It now is tied to the Warp millions of years later, activated by spilt blood and resting under Khorne's sphere-of-influence (Tzeentch somewhat as well).

This was a great insight into alternatives for the history of the Dawn Blade. Dawn Blade strikes shoulder guard of a Space Marine in Power Armour, Space Marine goes "what hit me" and turns around to see the little cloven footed midget with a sword. The Space Marine shakes his head and tells the cloven foot midget to piss off. The cloven foot midget didn't understand what the Space Marine said, he decides to jump and slash at the Space Marine's helmet only to get his silly little helmet smashed through his face and his head cleaved off his shoulders by a single punch to the face by the Space Marine.
The Space Marine kneels to pick up the funny looking sword and decides to keep it so he could shave his scalp bald and to keep his face clean of facial hair because facial hair is uncomfortable in a helmet.

Within Liber Chaotica: Slaanesh, it states that without the Old Ones to bind them, the Gods of the Aeldari, which were originally little more than sentient weapons, would evolve into true living gods; becoming the first true gods of the warp, and that the Old Ones were so powerful that they could even summon them from the warp itself into real space.

    Did the Necrontyr have Psykers?
While we know that Necrons got a worse warp presence then even Tau, what about the Necrontyr? They were a fully biological race with extensive scientific knowledge. So why would they not have had Psykers as well?
If they had those powers, they would not have prooved usefull during hte war in heaven: The Old Ones are in a different league altogether. And even the Aeldari at the time had way more skill. So loosing those (useless) Psyker abilities during biotransference would not have been a big loss.
The Necrons can propably neither craft nor use the blade. But what about the Necrontyr, wich were *obsessed* with Lifespan extensions?

10:00 - Necron weapons being black/green is a very recent addition to the lore. At the time that the Dawn Blade was added to the lore, most necron weapons were the same silver hue as the rest of their bodies. This can be seen by looking at the older models in the necron range, dating back to late 3rd edition:
    www.games-workshop.com/resources/catalog/product/920x950/99800110002_NecronLordResOrbNEW01.jpg
    and
    miniset.net/files/set/gw-99800110010-0.jpg
Note the curvature of the blades, which bear a superficial similarity to the shape of the Dawn Blade itself.
10:20 - The Crone Swords were all in the eye of terror, which is on the opposite side of the galaxy to the Tau Empire. Furthermore, the fifth crone sword is already accounted for - and is in the possession of the renegade farseer, Auric Stormcloud / Rogue Trader Janus Darke. (Who actually took it from Belial 4 in the book, Farseer. This seriously pissed off Slaanesh.) The Dawn Blade is also too large to be a crone sword.

    • @40KTheories
      @40KTheories  3 роки тому +2

A change from 5th edition onwards (to both Necrons and the T'au) is not something I'd personally call "very recent", but either way this would be an example of a retcon.
The Crone Swords were _not_ all within the Eye of Terror. The Asur-Var for example was located upon Biel Tan, which lays upon the outskirts of Segmentum Solar. The Spear of Twilight was originally upon Iyanden, which is within close proximity to the T'au Empire. While the Craftworlds did originate from a region of space close to the Eye of Terror, it's always possible that an unnamed Craftworld, similar to Iyanden, made it towards the Eastern Fringes before for one reason or another the sword was taken to another world, if it were indeed a Cronesword.
The Deathsword of Khaine is flat out stated to be something *other* than the final Cronesword, since it was forged by the Aeldari themselves, not Vaul (this is also shown within the novel Farseer, as shown with the following passage)
_A few of the eldar had some presentiment of the disaster. Some turned their faces from the dark and prepared to flee their worlds in great arks, but most stayed and so were doomed. Others, the priests who had built this temple, who also saw gathering doom, remained and tried to preach against the corruption. When this failed, they retired to its depths to forge a weapon against what was to come. Using engines of awesome power, they forged a sword that was not a sword, but a captured echo of the death force of the universe bound into the shape of a blade. Then they waited for their doom to come upon them_
In addition, as stated in the video, the Cronesword upon Belial IV was supposedly taken from the world by Shalaxi Hellbane (the daemon that arrived on Belial IV within Farseer was Shaha Gaathon)

According to Liber Chaotica there were originally living weapons created by the Old Ones that evolved into true Gods following the extinction of the Old Ones, whereas Xenology suggests that the Old Ones somehow evolved into gods. Other sources suggest they were created through emotion and belief, which is tangentially supported by Liber Chaotica, since they overtime "evolved" to become sentient and such.
So... take your pick, I guess lol

The idea of his sword being a Chaos blade is something that always felt the most plausible. Partly because whoever originally inhabited Arthas Moloch and built everything(i.e. the portal to the warp, the chaos marked buildings, the statues, and (probably) the sword) were, in all likelihood, worshippers of the Chaos Gods. And because partly this is 40k, this are never simple, and not partly because the sword is too good to be true, so I refused to believe that there is *no* way that there’s not a catch to this.
Plus Farsight has (coincidentally and unintentionally) shown or done some Khorny stuff.
-His team are the “The 8” and have 8 members (the sacred number of Khorne is 8).
-Farsight uses melee and is a warrior via being fire caste(Khorne lives for that stuff and people like him).
-The sword empowers the user(like how the Blood God empowers his followers).
-The Farsight Enclaves forces are all painted red(much like Khorne and his forces).
-And finally Farsights vision, of course, had him as daemon prince of Khorne. While the future is rarely set in stone, prophetic visions only show “what” will happen, but never “how” things get to that point(See the Eldar farseers on both why that’s problematic and trying to stop the future results without context always go wrong). The fact that is even a possibility is alarming.
I am very optimistic and hopeful of Farsight as a character but skeptical and cautious about that sword. I have said it before and I will say it again, if Farsight starts getting looking like a bodybuilder and/or taking a little *too* much joy in warfare(especially melee combat) we should be worried. Khorne has show favor to and empowered those who weren’t even on his side like the Guardsmen commander who was so vicious in her fight against Slaanesh(I believe) that Khorne gave her his favor.
