One of the great channels on AF matters, if not the greatest.
Thanks, Pete! I appreciate that 😊
helped out a lot when deciding afsc's. Please do more!
Very informative and answered almost all the questions i had!
Hey, I'm an Air Force CO and this was a really good brief breakdown of what we do. Thank you!
I am about to be a graduating senior looking into joining the air national guard for contracting, and this video helped me appreciate and better understand the job I'm looking into, thank you!
Awesome video. Keep it going
It was useful. Thank you
Very Impressive!!
Very very helpful! Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful! You're welcome 😊
Very nice and inform video in less then six minutes. Big difference in actual content compare to enlisted airmen.
Thanks, JR! Glad it was helpful!
Currently work in maintenance as Sheet-metal(2A753, Structures) with one more year left as a first term airman (used up all my extensions) and I've been eyeing getting out. I've already started getting my A&P to possibly work in the civilian/sheet metal contracting side but I've been noticing that the job selection in Sacramento - CA region is a bit slim in my area (as far as good pay goes). My goal was to get a big name defense contractor position with (Boeing, Lockheed, Northrup, etc) and make a career out of it but I may need to get another career started on the side just in case.
I've already looked up the job and contracting officers appear to be in pretty big demand through GS/civilian side but I noticed that to get past GS-11 I need to have a bachelors degree. Using the AU ABC program I could get a project management degree in 2 years using the Montgomery G.I. Bill and go to school full time. In which afterwards I could apply for a lower position as I don't have experience in the job.
Would you say this is a decent path to take or do you think that applying right away for the job would be better?
Also, I would try cross-training but its not guaranteed and Id rather not re-enlist for another 4 years and get stuck in this job/ location.
take a look at the AFOCD to see what the requirements are to become a contracting officer: www.milvet.state.pa.us/DMVA/Docs_PNG/hro/AFOCD.pdf
Great video thank you ! I’m currently in private sector looking to join contracting field, can’t wait
Good luck, Kevin! 🙂
@@ashleynoelle thank you , I’ll come back to this comment in the future😀
This was extremely helpful! I’d love to hit him up for further details. Currently AD SSgt and I’ll be starting undergrad full time in the spring. I want to do ROTC with aspirations of being a contracting officer!
Glad it was helpful! Like Cord said, more than likely, you have Contracting officers at your base, and I'm sure that they'd be happy to answer any questions you might have! I definitely encourage people speaking with folks in their desired career field before they join.
great vid. what song was playing in the background? thanks for your service and channel.
Thanks! "Tainted Colors" by Damma Beatz
Hello thanks for the segment. Is there any contact information for Corderrol
If you are already working in the career field as a DoD civilian with the appropriate certifications, BSBA and MBA, what is the highest rank you can enter as?
As a retired enlisted CO I can tell you almost ALL of my peers that received their Bachelor's Degree, have done pretty well after retiring.
my number one recommendation to all officers is that they become best friends with the Contracting officer at their base.
How high up do you have to be to see missle tests and aircraft tests
Nice video! I’m leaving March 15th for contracting and I cannot wait. Since you get some leeway on where your first base will be located, do you think you have a high chance to be stationed where you want?
There’s a chance… lol We do get to fill out a “dream sheet” (cue “Juicy” by Biggie “It was all a dreeeeam! I used to read Word Up! magaziiiine”) - literally pops into my head every time I think about my dream sheet. There’s a good chance you’ll get something on there, but probably an equally good chance that you won’t, especially if all of your choices are for really popular locations (but that doesn’t mean you should ever put on your list somewhere you wouldn’t actually WANT to go - you shouldn’t). I wouldn’t say you ever have a “high” chance of getting an assignment you want. I’d say you have a “decent” chance… 🤞🏽
@@ashleynoelle gotcha, thanks for the reply! Either way I’ll be excited almost anywhere 👍🏼

Hello, I am presently working for USACE as an 1102. Is there any way to contact you via email? Thanks.
Can you do this job as a 2LT or is it like the Army, where they want officers to be CPT and above (with command time) before starting in this career field/MOS/whatever you call it on your side of the house?
Sure, you can enter as a contracting officer and do this job as an LT.
Im curious what if you have a bachelor's degree but its not in the field of business, accounting, finance but in another field and you want to become a contracting officer then what? Is there still hope?
I'd like an answer to this question as well, please!? @ashleynoelle
💜💚💜💚
What's the highest rank as an officer you can reach as a contracting officer?
3-star General if you command DCMA. But realistically O-6 Colonel if you play all your cards right
Are there any COs with bigger biceps?
I haven’t found nary a one lol 😂
That skin, pearly whites and big forehead im in ❤😂
What security clearance is needed
Depends on the assignment, but typically, at least Secret.
Can you have this position in the Air Guard?
Yes.
:58 - 1:35 is Nothing but lies. Wtf WHY LIE?! Makes no sense 😂🤣
What are the lies? Please elaborate.
I know most jobs in the Fed Govt advise (in their job listing) that you have a minimum of 24 business related credits. Most require a bachelors degree in a business related field.
@@DevilzAdv they lied when they said that enlisted/officers need college credits to get into contracting. the truth is, there's only asvab requirements, and even those are pretty easy targets lol
@@lbabyy444 your comment is literally irrelevant because this conversation isn't about contracting officers, it's about the requirements to enter the field as a specialist
I have an auditing background, can I still get into the career field? What about with a COR certification?
