By far my favorite series
I was in the USAF as an Aerospace Medical Technician, from 1965-1969. At that time, Aerospace Medical Technician's were limited to work in the Flight Surgeon's office and Med. Evac. After my training, I was stationed at Vandenberg AFB, California and stayed there for three years. Vietnam was boiling over but I was 45 minutes from Santa Barbara. Most of my job involved sick call for pilots and missile crews. We also did the required annual physical examinations on the same folks and officer candidates referred by local recruiters. Most exciting duty was ambulance standby for many missile launches. What a noise and light show. I made Airman 1st Class (3 stripes) which was changed to sergeant in 1967. This pissed the staff sergeants off because a bunch of people, who hadn't made their bones by re-uping, could use the NCO club. I received my notice of promotion to staff sergeant one week before I separated. Goodbye USAF, hello college and the GI bill.
As a 4n0 she left out a lot of information about all of the capabilities and the scope of our job due to her short time in the career field. We have numerous shred out and special experience identifiers.
I got 4no and ship out March 31 anything I can do to study for the EMT test before BMT
@@SxCR4WR I'm an EMT non miltary, but I'd recommend reading anatomy and phyisiology, also going to the NREMT website and becoming familiar with or even memorizing the skill sheets for the practical exam. Overall don't be worried, it's not hard. Everything makes logical sense and treatments/interventions are not complex. You got this.

Currently a 4N031 stationed at Scott AFB. Just recently graduated tech school and can definitely agree with everything she answered. Great video!
Tyler Mockler how long was it and what was the hardest aspect of the course
tenzin dakar phase 1 is 4 months at fort Sam Houston. Phase 2 is 2 months. Hardest part by far is testing for the NREMT. Half my class washed back from that one test.

@@arielcollins2371 It varies a lot depending on if you’re assigned to a clinic or hospital, such as your hours and responsibilities. But you’re doing all the lab testing in your MTF. In a clinic, this scales down a lot since there’s no in-patients, so you’ll find yourself doing more phlebotomies or shipping patient specimens out for testing. In a hospital, there’s much more services, so you could be working core laboratory (clinical chemistry, hematology, UA), microbiology, and blood transfusion services. These days in a clinic, I find myself busy doing phlebotomies, flu testing, and yes COVID-19 testing as well.
I reallly do appreciate for this,I am currently in process to set up a day to take asvab and join air national guard. I am looking to work as an 4nox1 before i get my bachelors in nursing.
tenzin dakar I wish more of my college friends would do Guard or reserve with me. It’s the smart thing to do.

@@youraveragejoe2 went to basic in may of 2020 and finished phase 2 training back in dec,2020. Came home and starting working with COVID vaccinations mission since then and untill last month when I had to get off. I am here in Ohio for my phase 3(which is only for guard medic ) for next two month.
@@youraveragejoe2 only regret is I wish I would have done it sooner. Had so much fun and made some incredible friends / memories along the way. I miss it all

I am leaving on an open contract in September and I was wondering if you can put any AFSC you scored high enough for on your dream sheet? It doesn’t have to be the same aptitude area as your open contract correct?

Nicely done, good to find someone who actually likes their job. I wish you would've asked about the HUGE cut they're doing to medical. To the people in the recruitment process or joining to hopefully go into this field. Be cautious because they are cutting the medical field in the Air Force by a lot, about 18,000 positions. So I would consider going for a different field as well.

Thank you sooooo much for having an airman that works in this career field on your channel. The only raccurate information I can find about Aerospace Medical is through certain websites. I feel more confident to get this job for when I go in the Air Force. You asked great questions and she answered them all very well.

My name is Thomas Devon Moore an A1C for the USAF. I am an 2A3X5B (Tactical Aircraft Avionics Technician.) In short, I'm F35 avionics. When I came down with my AFSC in the job draft, there was close to zero information about my job. In addition, I am among the first ever tech schoolers to be selected into a new program in the Air Force, BOLT (Blended Operations Lightning Technician.) All the MX jobs on the F35 were consolidated into 2 groups, Mission Systems (ME), Air Vehicle. Air Vehicle is Fuels, Crew Chiefs, and Low Observable. Mission Systems is Avi, Egress, and Weapons. I believe there should be a way easier way to find what all these jobs are and what they do. I believe doing an interview over my AFSC, would help thousands of future maintainers!
I did 16 yrs as a fire protection specialist. I loved my job.
Hey Kyle, I really appreciate you taking the time to interview member world the military about their jobs. It gives some of us as viewers, who are trying to decide what they want to do in the military, the opportunity to hear from a variety of different jobs. Having a full time job and 2 kids it is hard for me to find time to reach out to a bunch of different people to figure out what would fit me best and this helps tremendously. I hope you keep it up!

As a 4N0 for about 8 Years, I feel like she left out a lot of things about our career field and that she left out SEIs and Shredouts! But overall a good interview about a job that I love!
Do 4N0 deploy a lot and what’re the deployed settings like or work day like when deployed?
This was awesome as I also was interested in looking into the aerospace evacuation.
To eventually work my way to being a flight nurse.
Youngest daughter is aerospace med at Travis. Other daughter is photojournalist for usaf in Tokyo. Both love their job
So now, we learn our Phase 2 locations the same week that you pass NREMT and Skills. Once you learn your Phase 2, you have five weeks of Nursing. There are seven locations for Phase 2: Nellis, Lackland, Travis, Elgin, Keesler, Langley, and Wright-Patterson.

A good friend was did what she wants to do. Flew on the C9 medvac planes. He flew all over the pacific but was stationed in Japan. Got flight pay. at the time he was a SrA - SSgt. He was single at the time and had gf's in all the major locations he flew into and was always floating through gf's.. His younger brother was my roommate and did what she does right now.. I ran into him in later life when I was stationed in Hawaii. He retired as a TSgt but was working at the MEP's as a Civilian doing medical stuff qualifying people for military service. I made friends with an O-3 at the same time in Japanwho was a Flight Nurse who flew on the C-9's. I think he didnt take promotions seriously but he did enjoy the travel. Most time shuttling patients in a peacetime situation, but did see some mangled patients due to car wrecks or incidents at work. But this job could mean you are working out of a C-130 in a war zone operating while under attack. But you get flight pay, and depending on location hazard pay..

It'd be really cool to see someone who works with cyber. Like Cyberspace Operations Officer or Cyber systems operation or cyber surety. Basically anything cyber would be pretty cool to learn about.
Yea I’ve been asking him for like the past 5 videos he posted if he can interview someone that works in cyber transport systems because that’s my job and I leave on the 11th.

That was outstanding! I was a Pharmacy Specialist E-4 1960-1964 and loved it. It appears everything is much harder and restricted today. I had 6 weeks Basic Medical School at Lackland and then 3 months Pharmacy school at Gunter , Alabama. We actually did everything a Pharmacist did while having a civilian Pharmacist there who dealt with very special situations and questions. I filled prescriptions, made meds such as ointments, cough syrup, and was responsible for maintaining and ordering standard and special order drugs fora base of 20,000 people. If anyone has the same job today I'd like to compare our responsibilities.

EMTs can't do much to begin with, as an EMT most things you can do is vitals, supply oxygen, an some assistance with meds; the national exam is a smart exam...it's not hard just have to answer questions as a basic EMT no more no less but in the military you get to do more then what a civilian EMT could do

Please look for someone who do the jobs either pharmacy tech and or public health! Really looking into those jobs and I have been wanting more information on them since they are my first and 2nd choice, this was my 3rd choice and I would easily pick this job if I got it so thanks for helping me learn more about it!

Killed skills and NREMT went to langley for phase 2. Still a 4N but I currently hold an SEI (kinda like a shredout) that is more.... me.

Yes. You have to do the one week of Anatomy & Physiology, and pass two Mod tests. If they approve your NREMT and if you’re up to date on your skills, you will be able to proficiency advance to Nursing
3:13 she missed a base. Phase 2 can occur at Keesler as well. Also, there are a lot of questions about shred outs for this AFSC. For example, this is my AFSC, but I shred out into an Aeromedical Evacuation Technician. There are others as well. Could you please cover this for new airmen interested?

First! One major question, can you take the civilian NCLEX? As far as I know the Army 68 Charlie program is the only program and branch that is allowed to take the civilian NCLEX.
It’s okay if not, they have 16 month college bachelor programs, that take you from a bachelors in another degree to a BSN. Because you already have a bachelors degree.
Can you interview someone who is in the HVAC
I’m an LPN. I went to an AF recruiter last year and they sent me to the Army recruiter because they said they do not have any LPN jobs in the Air Force.

If working in a Hospital, it's more like CNA work - in a clinic you might be working more LPN type tasks. I'm in now as a 4N0X1 and they trained us as EMTs but are switching to LPN training. 4N0X1 is still a pretty sweet job.
As a 4n0 after tech school and cdcs you qualify for the NCLEXlpn and afcool will pay for study material and refresher course. Also you can get you paramedic license as a Sei the usaf will send you to holloman to take the course with pararescue
Army has two separate career field one is emergency medical technician combat and the other is licensed vocational nurse or LPN the Air Force does not yet have a tech school that gives you your NCLEX license out of training that is just a SEI as of now that you do in your off time

Wonder why there’s a big wash out for the EMT phase. I did my EMT in a week class and everybody passed with 80+ on the written and 100% on the practical, but we didn’t have to take the NR only the state
