UPDATE! Monetization is back! You did it Noble ones! I think the Twitter pressure, the views, plus Shad's video did it. I was given direct contact with the ad sense team, and they put monetization back. I calculated how much revenue I lost these 4 days, it's a lot, but the donations covered that completely and surpassed it. So now, I'm officially independently funded, and thanks to you I can keep posting even if they do this again. Will they? Not sure. Should I remove this upload on Cleopatra to be safe? NOT A CHANCE. This video stays. Onward onto the next battle. Some haters rejoiced of my demonetization and hoped I would stop speaking. Your support and donations turned me into armoured Metatron. Armoured Metatron cannot be silenced.
Exactly! I use to have Netflix, but I drop it about 5 years ago, as I could no longer support their immoral and perverse content. Watching the Metatron educating and entertaining videos is 100 times better than Netflix. That is why I joined his "army" this week.
@@AfricanMaverickI mean, there would be people of African descent who would find themselves somewhere far away, like Scandinavia, Normandy, Dalmatia, the Peloponnese or even Asia Minor/Anatolia. That doesn't mean that Africans are, in any case, the majority within said regions. Same case with the east (Iran, Kurdistan, Iraq, Syria et cetera) or the far east (China, Korea, Tibet, Thailand etc.).
@@AfricanMaverick While a few black folks may have gotten to these places the predominant people were pale skinned not dark skinned. African has some great heros to tell stories of, go find some of those and leave the western history the way it was.

My main issue with this documentary is not about who plays Cleopatra. It's that they legittimately used "my grandma used to say" as a reliable source. In a documentary. You're telling me that, when making a DOCUMENTARY, you use your grandma's words as a source? Without something to back her up?
It's a black thing. I had the same type of argument with a black female friend who claimed her grandmother was the sole survivor of a massacre in my home province. I asked her to tell me more I want to look it up because I never heard of any such attack in my province and she got angry and said 'not everything that happened is written down"
@@zentodalethe survivors would write it down, the people doing the attacking would note it down. Particularly if it's any time past the 18th century because things like that are expensive and hard to cover up
@Robert Ågren all depictions have her has a pale skinned ginger , which makes sense since at that time the Celts were still abundant in places other than the modern UK
How did they do that? For one thing, Adele James' skin tone is a sort of medium light brown. She did not blackwash anything. No one in the documentary thinks Cleopatra was black.
The thing is, that we have lost sight of what that actually means. Personal truths arent supposed to run contra to fact. They're opinion based. Or something like "Jesus is my savior" is a personal truth... it doesnt mean the Earth is flat, simply because the person believes in Jesus. Something like "Jesus is my savior" and science can be held simoultaniously, not being mutually exclusive to each other. To that person, anyhow. So "Cleopatra was Black" isnt a "Personal truth", it's a declaration of stupidity.
Pretty much every egyptian in the show is depicted as black. Its not just that they were claiming Cleopatra was black, they clearly want to present Egypt as a black civilization. Oh and i love that they try to give her credit for the Julian calendar.
It's not only cultural appropriation, it's the appropriation of a country's entire cultural heritage and history, purely to serve an ideological fantasy. Disgusting.
It's cultural appropriation of the whole continent by rich Americans because they are desecendents of West-Africans, who have hardly any cultural or genetic ties to North-east Africa.
Although Cleopatra was Macedonian, white-skinned Egyptians are predominantly of West Asian origin. It doesn't change the fact that the indigenous Nilotes of the Nile Valley were the darkest Nilotes. Migrations from West Asia into Africa began 20,000 years ago. This implies that the indigenous people were the blacks who remained in the Nile Valley.

In 100 years: Metatron was an Inuit. He lived on the American continent where there also were Inuit and native American settlements. Maybe at some point some Europeans (who are central asiatic of course) also came there but the natives were there earlier and therefore prevalent. Also he wore leather bands.
As a black African, I need to just say that this need to “re-represent” everything is a black AMERICAN phenomenon. Us here on the continent know full well that Egyptians look very different from sub-Saharan Africans. In fact, we know that most of them identify as Arabs and not necessarily “Africans”.
Such a huge continent… so many cultures and (sorry, in lack of a better word) shades… It‘s a bit like depicting Seattle like San Antonio (or vice versa), or Scots like Italians…
Producers in Los Angeles see the black community as a bunch of orfan kids that can't connect with any media unless it has black people on it... that disconnected mentality is causing all this travesty of the word "representation".
@patdaley9098 Most people that know the actual history don't want to watch it because it's full of bs, and you obviously didn't pay attention when you watched it because I've seen several clips online where they specifically say that she is black. If the actress being black didn't tell you that, the lady that said "she's black because my grandmother told me so" tells you that they were trying to make it seem like she was. If they were going to make a dramatic documentary about the life of Cleopatra, they should have at least done it right and did proper research. Her being the wrong race is not even the only problem with it, there's many others, like the romans wearing stuff that they've never even wore back then. That whole fiasco is offensive to multiple groups of people, especially Egyptians, and just plain disrespectful to Cleopatra.
As a black person, we need to go and learn our history from Africa to America before jumping into other people's history. That nonsense on Netflix was so bad from acting, to costume and makeup everything was trash.
That's the catch 22 though. If black people in America learned more about Africa, their entire victim narrative surrounding slavery dissolves to ashes since it was Africans and Arabs doing the slave trade, not whites. The additional notes that whites had debt and war reasons that lead into getting involved in the slave trade (thanks as a direct byproduct of Arab and African colonization in Europe) only makes the case for the narrative even worse lol If it can't reinforce the narrative of white man bad, it will never be taught. Especially to the black community.
It's white people that make this nonsense happen ironically. Every time they pull this stunt they're ignoring real archeology and anthropology south of the sahara that could be looked at.
They actually _dishonestly butchered her statement through editing._ This _honest researcher_ immediately followed that up by saying "granny didn't know, and she was wrong." *These people are honorless scumbags.*

Exactly people's hatred for black people is clouding their judgment. No one truly knows what Cleopatra looked like, but it's not a far stretch that she could have been medium to dark. Afterall, she was mixed due to her parents. People really want to pretend fair skin & dark skin biracials (who are half-black) don't exist. That's the very definition of racism, judging someone based on their skin tone.
As an Egyptian I thank you for using your precious time on something not-so-precious and clearing up what is already apparent. I applaud you for your hard work :)
Egyptian history is absolutely precious. Beyond the amazing stories and architecture, no other country can connect us with our very distant past quite like Egypt. Without the Rosetta Stone, how would we have known about Babylon and Sumer? How could we have translated cuneiform and learned about Gilgamesh? What other nation fought off the Sea Peoples and actually won? There will always be people trying to erase the past in the name of their cause. We cannot allow this.

Historical fantasy has no place in a documentary. The same way that Game of Thrones or Lord of The Rings aren't historical, the same way that 300 and its sequel aren't historical, this so-called documentary would have been much better off being a work of fiction inspired by Egyptian history.
The Egyptians typically painted representations of themselves with light brown skin, somewhere between the fair-skinned people of the Levant and the darker Nubian people to the south.
They grasp at the 4 or 5 Egyptian wall paintings showing black people without any context of what those paintings represent (they're slaves, vassals, and captured enemies). And they latch onto the 25th dynasty of Nubian origin claiming all the dynasties were like that.
I absolutely hate it when someone says something like "I'm speaking my truth" or "We're telling her truth" because what that says to me is "I'm not speaking facts, I'm spinning my own narrative based on my own personal feelings and/or biases." Amber Heard said she was "speaking her truth", and we all know how THAT panned out...
I understand your concern, although I'd caution against hating this phrase because people co-opted it from the mental health field. It's used a lot when patients don't have or no longer have evidence of abuse they have suffered and are being gaslit over it happening at all. Lots of trauma therapists use this phrase, so it wouldn't surprise me if they heard a genuine victim say the phrase and then try to use that phrase as a way to further gaslight others. Sad, but not unexpected from those who gaslight, since gaslighting is about control, not how much logical sense it makes. Just wanted to give my two cents as someone in the mental health field :)

I'm glad that this project got the proper response and that people, both from Egypt and outside, united against it. Because obviously, if this 'documentary' succeeded, it would give them more space to alter other historical facts, especially in Africa, but it wouldn't surprise me if they'd eventually reach the American continent and claim that it was actually black.
Oh they already do. I've experienced this many times from black people online. I'm Native American with mostly Lakota ancestors with the exception of at least one Arikara female ancestor. There is no African DNA in Native people if they don't have black ancestors. However this doesn't stop certain black people from claiming that they are the real Indigenous people of the Americas and Native tribes are really just Asians who genocided black people who coincidentally were also living in Africa. Apparently, they built ships and traveled back and forth becausethey missed their cousins on orher continents but this is all a secret. LoL These black people grew all the indigenous foods that were later discovered by Europeans, too. Potatoes, tomatoes, pineapples, corn, and many more foods that were new to Europeans. All created by Indigenous people but certain American black people claim those too. They secretly brought the seeds back and forth across the Atlantic and everything was created by them but never used or grown or known about in Africa. It was all a big secret. Shhh! It's too convoluted to be understood 🙄 They have some kind of a mass psychosis that makes them create an imaginary history out of nonsense. This is what American propaganda has done because the U.S. has also created a "faux" history about "Pilgrims and building a new Jerusalem in the wilderness" as if there weren't millions of Native tribes living here originally. The same tribes which the govt made over 500 treaties with thereby acknowledging that various tribes owned the rights to the land and that the government needed the tribes to cede the land. They wanted to officially take possession of it and move the tribes to other territory and so on. So, black people in America are just doing what the U.S. govt has always done. Make up a story about a country and make it seem magical and heroic, throw in a little Manifest Destiny and a little patriotism and erase all the original inhabitants and presto! You have a whole country and a flag and it's amazing and powerful and built by Christian immigrants. Native people are described as "merciless Indian savages" in the Declaration of Independence so that takes care of them as having any moral high ground to object. Steal a continent and you can do and say anything. Now in 2023, Hollywood is re-colonizing Egypt and stealing their history and it's not as fun as before because there is YT and people who rightfully can and should object. We have modern DNA and science that can prove who and where your ancestors came from. Grandma wasn't always right and she might've been misinformed.

Cleopatra's full name was Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator, which *in Greek* (not Egyptian) means "father-loving goddess". I mean the Egyptian rulers didnt just woke up one day and decided to pretend they are Greeks. Now, *If I recall correctly,* none of the Ptolemaic Dynasty ever got married to an Egyptian, none of this dynasty *ever* learned to speak the Egyptian language, they all spoke Greek and refused to learn Egyptian, Cleopatra was the first of her dynasty to learn to speak Egyptian, while she was also the last of her dynasty. All the above shout Egyptian (or non Greek) only to a total ....

As a Texan I say that this series is a biased stupid waste of time. I saw the open Black Bigotry which was integral in "Wakanda Forever" and Disney's "Proud Family"' reboot series: Bigotry that equalled the levels of the KKK. And I know bigotry: My background is Hispanic, from California, and I've had the misfortune of encountering "Latinos" who called me insulting names like "Pendejo", "Chavo De Ocho"( a character similar to Jeff Dunham's Bubba Jay) and "Californero" which as far as I'm concerned is the "Latino" equivalent of the infamous N-word. And it takes a huge amount of Black bigotry to totally rewrite an established historical character AND call out Egypt for bigotry for condemning this made up story. Which has little to do with reality: It's akin to remaking the battle of the Alamo and adding in AK47s and armed flying drones. Or having Nicholas Cage playing Martin Luther King in a biopic.
But even ancient Romans depicted Egyptians as black. The mummies of pharaohs look black. Broaden your mind. I recommend Mr. Imhotep’s channel. I wasn’t there but it’s not clear cut. Are you sure her entire lineage is pure Ancient Greek? Remember Ancient Greece encompassed a lot of land.

Makeup is absolutely wrong (where's the kohl?), headdresses and hairstyles look like something out of the Lord of the Rings (high class Egyptian used to wear wigs, where are them?), I prefer not to mention anything about the clothes because I don't know enough adjectives in English to express how horrible it is. The ceremonies depicted are mostly historically inaccurate. Buildings look like arabic/medieval, specially her palace. For some reason, they included instruments and dances from sub-saharan Africa, and it goes on, and on, and on. Also, this is an documentary is about Egypt's history, BUT not a single scene was recorded in Egypt.

As a black African, I need to just say that this need to “re-represent” everything is a black AMERICAN phenomenon. Us here on the continent know full well that Egyptians look very different from sub-Saharan Africans. In fact, we know that most of them identify as Arabs and not necessarily “Africans”.
They identify as Arabs because they were conquered by Arabs. Native North Africans are not Arab, they are light skinned Africans

Like so many, you obviously didn't actually watch the docudrama, since you don't know what's in it!
The rest of us wish we could forget Africa exists.
That's the catch 22 though.
If black people in America learned more about Africa, their entire victim narrative surrounding slavery dissolves to ashes since it was Africans and Arabs doing the slave trade, not whites. The additional notes that whites had debt and war reasons that lead into getting involved in the slave trade (thanks as a direct byproduct of Arab and African colonization in Europe) only makes the case for the narrative even worse lol
If it can't reinforce the narrative of white man bad, it will never be taught. Especially to the black community.
It's white people that make this nonsense happen ironically. Every time they pull this stunt they're ignoring real archeology and anthropology south of the sahara that could be looked at.

Because according to those same people, somehow the "weaker, more inferior, inbred, unable to do anything themselves, unable to invent anything or create anything" white/arab/jewish/islandic/nordic/mexican/asian people defeated them and erased absolutely 100% of all possible saved history, then buried fake evidence of their culture to "get away" with somehow generations of lies... ya know, like a conspiricy theorist would say.... I swear these flat earthers just found another topic and it's this.
Like, what happened to these army wielding black people in medieval times? Surely they didn't just lay down their arms when chattel slavery took root, but since we have no record of a social war being fought over powerful families losing their wealth, power, and lands before being forced into slavery it must have been a peaceful transition
Unless Europe wasn't as politically diverse as Netflix would have us think
Racism...? They weren't depicted because of recism?😂
Egyptian images show four races: with Nubians (the nation next to them) being black and well known and respected for their warriorship. Also, 700-800 BC Egypt was ruled by blacks from the south. No argument. Then Alexander took over the Persian empire but become "pharaoh" first and then his general took over after he died and his dynasty rulled until this time (50 bc).
This is all well known by many sources with no dog int he race.
Also, they didn't have black VS white animosity at that time like we did now so totally American view point of an ancient period.

They wanted to silence him. They forgot that killing the hostage means you get shot dead. Why would he censure himself anymore since they already took his money away.
They'd probably say that the Chinese were blacks too.
they have already done that.

And it takes a huge amount of Black bigotry to totally rewrite an established historical character AND call out Egypt for bigotry for condemning this made up story.

It is not persoanl, it is just business. Of course, you would have NO CLUE because you are a child of the matrix, television and bogus public educational system. Let’s get the definition of Ham out of the so-called Jewish generated Zondervan’s Pictorial Bible Dictionary: “Ham - The youngest son of Noah, born probably about 96 years before the Flood; and one of the eight persons to live through the Flood. He became the progenitor of the dark races; NOT THE NEGROS, but the Egyptians, Ethiopians, Libyans and Canaanites.” The original Ham was dark brown. The definition of Ham above tells us t things: 1. The TRUE egyptian is a dark brown skin tone. 2. The TRUE people of Yisrael are brown also, not caucasoid. The present so-called Egyptians have been transplanted in the those lands, PERIOD.
Genesis 10:6-20 - And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. {10:7} And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtechah: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan. {10:8} And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. {10:9} He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. {10:10} And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. {10:11} Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah, {10:12} And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city. {10:13} And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, {10:14} And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim. {10:15} And Canaan begat Sidon his first born, and Heth, {10:16} And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite, {10:17} And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, {10:18} And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. {10:19} And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha. {10:20} These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.
Also, if she is greek, why in the heck are you FAKE egyptians crying about it???????
It's worse than that. The producers and contributers think Africa = black but also that all blacks are the same and basically interchangeable.
How much does a Trinidadian have in common with a Somalian ?
Apparently you have never seen the paintings inside the pyramids. They are black and brown people. They most certainly are not white. Who paints themselves a different color? The level of ignorance here is staggering!
The sad part is all the comments here prove racism ...there is no such thing as black and it proves people are calling people black based on phenotype..proving racism is still alive and well ...and the ugly legacy of colonization lives on. African americans are the descendants of Africans...Egypt is on the continent of Africa 😂😂😂 Cleopatra is African . What makes a person African ...thier phenotype? ..then my friend you are indeed a racist ..you basing someone's " race" based on their physical characteristics rather than actual ethnicity...so is Mariah Carey black or white .....????? I guess white based on the logic in the comment section trying to argue about a concept that's rooted on observable appearance rather than genetics and actual science. The fact that Egypt is African sitting smack dab in the Continent of Africa ..proves my point ..people aren't mad because they are concerned by historical accuracy..people are mad because of racism. To fight to prove Egypt isn't African ..the question is Why? If Elizabeth Taylor can play Cleopatra...anyone can. We should just change the map and put Egypt in Europe so everyone is happy
I still remember how my grandmother told me: I don't care what they tell you in school, all Romans had leather and stuff.
We wore leather bracelets n shet
You obviously did not watch the docudrama. Sorry, nobody agree swith the old dead grandma. For a discussion of Cleopatra's ancestry, start in Ep. 1 a little after minute 32. Sorry, no mention of black ancestors.
@@patdaley9098 ..I think the OP was being sarcastic and making fun of the “my grandma said” argument
@@rayray6490 Ah yes, but there is no "my grandma said" argument in the docudrama. It was a story about what her grandmother once said, not an argument. The people who think it is an argument probably did not actually watch the docudrama.
@@patdaley9098yet the documentary trailer shows it , making it a « interesting point of view » to show to bring more people to watch it , lmao you a clown
As someone who is really into the end of the Roman Republican period and the Battle of Actium, I thought I’d give this series I try despite disapproving of the race swap. I made it about 15 minutes into the first episode before I switched it off, just around the time the talking heads were explaining why it’s odd we think of Cleopatra as being European. Despite the fact she was born into a Macedonian dynasty famous for it’s habit of marrying brothers to sisters to maintain its bloodline. I almost shouted the screen “are you listening to yourselves?”.
Yes they are, and that’s the problem. They are listening to themselves and ONLY to themselves. The only reason they made this documentary is because they like the sound of their own voices repeated back to them in their personal echo chambers.
Wait what?! this is meant to be a DOCUMENTARY?! I thought this was meant to be a totally fictional TV show loosely based on Cleopatra.
Although I have only heard it was not well received and that's all I know but I just assumed it was bad due to writing or something like that.
