      @@camcam794don’t worry, brush styling while wet is still safe for curls. For straight hair, maybe your hair will get damaged from brushing while wet, but for curls you have a higher chance of damage from dry brushing because the tangles are much more intense, therefore more snagging. Straight hair-care tips are almost never good for anyone with a natural curls pattern

Actually I find the contrary, the more time I spend sleeping, maintaining contact between my scalp and the pillow, the oiler it gets. It gets more oily if I touch it more too. So I just find that not touching or doing anything at all with it is the best.

    Even though I have wavy hair, I actually do this from day three on. I know it "messes up my curlpattern" but If I want my waves to be bouncy, I just spray water on my hair after carefully drybrushing it.
    If I'm fine with looser & fluffy hair, I brush each wave & slightly twist the brush in the direction of the "curlclump" that actually works with my hairtype ( well, atleast when there's a decent amount of sebum on my hair & I use a (faux-) boar bristle brush. I can finally go up to 5 days without washing my hair 😅 I wouldn't go longer than that though, because at some point, I start wearing it in the same bun every day & that can cause some serious hairline beakage. relatable. i did the whole crazy brushing and medieval combing methods to distribute the oils, so my hair could be conditioned and my scalp got less oily. nope, turns out when your scalp is THAT greasy, distributing the oils just makes your whole head look greasy and it looks better to just let the oil pile on your scalp. not a great alternative. id rather just wash more frequently at this point but i don’t have the time to do a whole 30 minute wash day with the pre shower oils and massages and damage treatments multiple times a week.

      @@imawakemymindisalive13 I used to wash everyday, (perhaps even twice a day, sometimes) before my dermatologist berated me like a child. There has only been one trick that has been life changing for me, in the sense that it saves me tons of time (and money, to be fair). I read that people started using starch instead of dry shampoo, and it is the one thing that helped me reduce my washes to twice a week. I don't know why the literal starch I would otherwise use in cooking would help this much, given that the active ingredient of dry shampoo is ALSO starch, but dry shampoo does almost nothing for me. I use a clean makeup brush or a salt shaker to target my roots, and use clarifying shampoo a bit often to fight any buildup. If my roots continue weighing down even after it all, I go in with some volumizing mousse to give them more body and prevent that greasy shine. Gets me three days of clean looking hair, every single time. Never got any odor or problems with my scalp, and my hair's been growing without a hitch for a year. Sorry for the wall of text, but if this helps you or anybody, I'd be really glad!

    • @amyamy8177
      @amyamy8177 11 місяців тому +1

      a brush with wooden bristles. They are easier to use too since they aren't that different from regular brushes. (A boar bristle brush is difficult to clean and not suitable for a lot of hairtypes because it's like brushing your hair with a lice comb. I had one years ago and in hindsight it pulled way to much on my hair, took forever to use and i eventually had to throw it out because you can't clean it properly). For me brushing my hair makes it look way more grasy but i think it's a hair type thing (if you have any sort of curlpatern i don't think brushing will help - made me more greasy anyway). I think Abbey sometimes forget there are more hairtypes and most studies are on pin straight hair.

    I have that exact Belula brush pictured. This morning as I brushed my hair on the third day after washing, I was thinking how perfect and free this hair oil was that I was distributing! I know curly girls may not be able to do this and that is sad. Both of my daughters have curly hair from their dad. It is beautiful, but a process to care for it.

    Question, I’ve recently had to wash my hair everyday. Got a slighter shorter BOB cut and even noticing very oily hair not even a full 24 hours. My hair is coloured with a wella semi at the salon. And is now very healthy. How can I go longer between washes. The whole thing takes too long when I’m working. Thanks ❤

    Make sure to keep them clean though! Use the end of a rat tail comb or the little metal comb it comes with to take the hair out, then just rub some shampoo onto the bristles, rinse, and let dry. Do NOT submerge it in water.

      That's actually healthy. I don't buy into this training your hair, because the longer you go without washes, your hair will be drier and scalp will be covered in sweat, dirt and oil. I see so many girls now with hair that looks awful and like it's covered in syrup. I'm sorry but I prefer healthy styled hair like I just left the salon

      Using hair oil before bed works well for me. Gives it all night to soak in so it doesn’t look like a greedy mess. Also, a satin pillow case and putting my hair up (gentle ponytail) at night keeps my dry ends from getting tangled and scraggly.
