I'll tell you how much I love a GTI, I'm considering selling my GT350 and buying one, lol. Miss the ole days with my GTI. I've had three over the past 20 years and I think I want to get into a new one. It's hard to beat the value and performance of one. Keep up the good work with the videos.
Thank you! What generation GTI’s did you have ? This is our third one we started with a Mk6 then a mk7 and finally our Mk8 and we have absolutely loved everyone of them !

I had a 02 1.8T GTI, a 04 1.8T GTI and a 08 GTI. The MK5 was my favorite. It's probably been 10 years since I've owned one, but I'm definitely considering getting back in one.

Had this, loctite your screws as they come lose and the thing falls apart. Sounds great, went back to stock with drop in filter and neuspeed inlet and pipe. Mine sits broken apart in a box now as it losses all bottom end power

@@octane_media honestly not hating it just wish I had the noise back haha. But it’s a great intake regardless, just wish it worked with the inlet and pipes it came with. Sadly the connecting hole is a bit big and I only have 1 screw for it left and don’t feel like going to tractor supply to get more for something that no longer fits. Great looks and sound, just too big of a fit. Plus the low end hits help a bit. I have a 0-100 with it on and 1+ tune on my shorts posted

@@octane_media haven’t gotten to track it yet since it’s cold and they’re all closed but for day to day I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t super impressed. If you haven’t checked out BMP tunings page they have the 034 comparison up and it is putting out a bit more power so I do wish I went with them but having reached out to them on multiple outlets with no response it makes me happy I didn’t go that way
Are you saying the intake caused some bottom end power loss? Aside from using loctite on the screws, anything else I should be doing to prevent it front falling apart? The intake is one of the better looking ones on the market with a cover.

It’s been great I’ve had Zero complaints with it , it sounds great and looks as good as it sounds and pretty straight forward on the install !
You definitely need an intercooler next and a inlet pipe. Also that’s not a cold air intake it’s a short ram stock location. Stock air box is good for 550 horsepower so our cars really don’t need it till big turbo. I did a dyno run with stock intake and aftermarket and no differences
Yes those out definitely on the list before we end up tuning the car and that’s ok I’m not really shooting for power with the intake it’s more of the aesthetic of it and the sound it makes more so for her to have a similar experience to her mk7 that was in an accident.

Is there anything else done to the car in this video? Like downpipe, bov, exhaust?
There was a exhaust installed before this but no BOV or Downpipe had been added when we filmed this
Oh okay. Really considering this intake - would you recommend this one having used it for a while now? Or something else? And like you mentioned without a tune we won’t see much performance difference so really hoping to get some good sound out of the intake at least until I decide to tune.
@@Justinjmv yes you won’t see much power gain from anything really without calibrating the ecu “tuning” and we absolutely love the intake it’s added quite a bit of sound to the driving experience if that’s something you’re looking for I’d highly recommend!
does the battery have to be disconnected to put on the intake?
No , I didn’t disconnect the battery and it didn’t get in the way of anything
Has this thrown a check engine light yet?
No I haven’t gotten check engine lights from either of my intakes !

@@chrispeveler1578 what intake is on that ? And ultimately I would say that comes down to your dealership and there techs most of the time they have to be able to prove how it affected it.

The intake ? And in California probably not I’m not 100 percent sure , we don’t have emissions where I live
I had same intake install. I know some of them can pass some of them don’t. we have emission test in Texas. Guess I’ll know in 2 years

Waste of Money. Modified stock Intake out preforms any aftermarket intake.
