    From what I've seen from other people with the DV Spacer, that noise is normal.

      @WAYFURSMEDIA  Рік тому +1

      Yeah that’s what I was thinking myself. I feel like the combo of both will just naturally bring that noise out 👍🏽

    For those wondering,the DV spacer is designed to make the Stu Stu Stu noise. I’m running this exact intake and DV spacer on my gti, it’s perfectly safe.ECS tuning made a video for it.

    THIS COMMENT -> Okay let me explain something: the stututu is turbo flutter. What is turbo flutter? Its air traveling back towards the cold side of the turbo and scraping along the fan lines and distributing the air back OUT through the air intake.
    This isnt good for the turbo, but its far less harmful than a BOV. Chances are it will not degrade your turbos life by much, but it is incentivizing the turbo to spin the opposite direction. This can cause turbo lag when getting back on the throttle.
    By getting a high flow turbo inlet pipe, you reduce this air going back into the turbo because their is higher flow for the air to be distributed into the atmosphere, and makes the “ssssssewwww”from the closing of the throttle plate much louder, but less “stututu”. In theory this is healthier for your turbo, but doesnt give you the coveted sound that everyone is after.
    Weigh what is more important to you, the stututu sound or the performance of your turbo? For manual drivers like me, a high flow inlet pipe is the only way to minimalize the turbo lag getting back on throttle.

      Thank you for typing that all out so I didn't have to, the Stu's are completely normal running restricted air. In order to get those screws on easily you remove the turbo inlet and battery and boom you have access to your heart's content. Keep the build going and you will get hooked and look back and chuckle at yourself. I look back on myself and laugh.

    The smaller filter is for for the crank case breather. You can use a filter or oil catch can, or a catch can filter combo

    That loud stu stu noise is normal it's cause your running the stock inlet pipe or elbow I had that setup for a year thr second you change the inlet pipe the sound will be bit more quiet but the swoosh noise will sound great

      @WAYFURSMEDIA  Рік тому

      I’m not gonna lie my next upgrade was going to be an inlet pipe! I love the stututu noise but if it goes away it’s okay I guess :/ did you notice any differences from: stock -> upgraded inlet pipe?

    • @Chicago_GLI_35
      @Chicago_GLI_35 Рік тому +1

      @@WAYFURSMEDIA to be completely honest the sound is the only upgrade you get and that's minimal. Until you start tuning your car and putting more boost into your car you won't feel any difference. HP gain could be counted on one hand.

    My guess is that its a very small spacer doesn't flow enough, so there is still surge and the big intake amplifies the "flutter" ...not good for the turbo

  • @snowj720
    @snowj720 7 місяців тому

    My dude, the DV spacer isn't necessary with an open intake like that. I have an open intake on my highly modified alltrack and didn't notice any sound difference, but I did have that turbo flutter you heard. I was able to repurpose the DV spacer I have on my GTI because I just went with a modified stock box setup. I definitely noticed the sound difference with that one. The DV spacer does nothing with an open air intake because it's an atmospheric release DV.

    • @WAYFURSMEDIA
      @WAYFURSMEDIA  7 місяців тому +1

      I understand, but my car isn’t highly modified & I did notice the DV spacer makes a little bit more of a noise with it on. I don’t care about going fast or anything like that. I just enjoy daily driving my car and hearing the woosh noise haha but I appreciate the feed back! If I did highly modify my car, the DV spacer 100% wouldn’t be on my car (:

    • @snowj720

      My Alltrack was only stage 1 when I had the spacer. Made zero sound difference. It's now is38 and makes the same noise. The spacers are for a stock box. Made all the difference on my GTI with no flutter. Love your setup tho dude. I'm a mk7 fan boy fo sho. If you're not tuned already go IE st1. Huge difference especially with the DSG tune. Well worth it homie.

      @WAYFURSMEDIA ugh, yeah those Cali laws suck. I'm so glad we don't have that I the dirty mitten. I actually have most of a video done for my Rtrack but wanted to reshoot the drive around part, get some launches, and do something special for the beginning. I'll probably do one for the GTI when I do more to it. So far nothing big just stage 1 IE, modded intake, inlet elbow, dv spacer, dog bone insert, rsb. The goal this spring is fmic, dp, st 1+/2 whatever IE calls it. Then it's their flex tune and hpfp.

    Did you have to wear in the valve spacer to get the flutter noise? I installed mine today on my cc and it sounds like what the cold air intake did (installed it earlier, sounds like just air evacuating the turbo) but just louder and more pronounced

      Okay so I only heard the turbo flutter when the DV spacer & CAI we’re both installed. When it’s only the CAI installed, you only hear the wooosh noise. Which would be safe 👍🏽 the DV can only be installed one way as well 😁

    • @WAYFURSMEDIA

      From my understanding no other supporting mods are needed when installing.

    • @Chicago_GLI_35
      @Chicago_GLI_35 Рік тому

      You can slap in the intake with nothing else needed at all. If you're getting an intake make sure to get the sai secondary breather filter with it. Most intakes you get online usually have a drop down option to add it to your cart. Also get yourself a set of picks to help with the vacuum line. If you're feeling confident in your abilities, get yourself a turbo inlet pipe to install as well. The stock inlet pipe is extremely restrictive so if you keep it with the upgraded intake it kind of defeats the purpose. Any questions I'm always happy to help.

    • @Chicago_GLI_35
      @Chicago_GLI_35 Рік тому

      SAI is used for cold starts due to a usually rich fuel prime when you first crank your engine. It's to help clean up emissions. I would definitely have a filter on it, but you can literally tape it to the hose if needed and zip tie in under the air box if you don't have a mount. As long as it's not blocked you won't get a CEL. Now I want to try it with my hand over it and see if it pulls a code.

      Don’t quote me, but I believe having both the spacer/CAI makes that noise. Usually, if people unplug the DV sensor, it makes that noise as well, but it’s unsafe to do it that way.
