Just a couple of quick points from a 5 year mk7 GTI owner. First, the most restrictive part of the GTI is the downpipe. Once you replace the stock downpipe, you will feel a big difference. Honestly, an intake and exhaust are mostly for sound. They don't do much for these cars as far as power. The biggest power gains are from a downpipe and tune. Also, you really need to learn how to turn off traction control. The traction control on the GTI really cuts power when it feels the tires slipping. I can hear it every time you do a pull. That will also make a difference.
Sick thanks for sharing
Notes taken for when I get my gti
You have to you obd to fully turn off traction control.
are there any good catted downpipes that will not cause a check engine light? ( i live in a state where they do emissions)
How do you pass emission with a down pipe?
Almost 200K subs! I still remember the mazda days, its awesome seeing how far you've come
Cam, lately I've been really looking forward to your uploads. Had a recent cancer diagnosis in the family and it's had me kinda down. Keep up the good work! Much love buddy!
I wish you the best of luck brother
@@thicok4555 thanks!
the fact he didn't reply sucks. I wish you and your family well. take care buddy.
@@lobbdem he's a busy guy my dude. It's all good. Wasn't looking for a reply, just wanted him to know that they cheer me up.
So dope to see someone building a GTI you've earned a sub
The content is so spot on / more realistic in terms of how most would approach mods / the GTI has such a great fun factor when unlocked - Picked up a skull T.
Keep up the great work - thank you
Wow that’s a mighty fine looking intake🌚 absolutely spectacular results, very OEM+ looking🔥
love all this gti content!!
Great video man... Im pretty new to the channel I have 18 mustang gt and this is what kinda brought me here. Im here in phoenix as well so kinda nice to see a local get some love. Love the shop and love the different builds on the channel thanks for keep us entertained throughout my work week.....lol
Another great video! By the way, these EA888 engines don't have any MAF sensor (so it can't oil up..). The ECU just looks at the intake pressure and revs to calculate the amount of air that goes in and hence the amount of fuel and timing that is needed.
Love this content cam keep up these amazing edits 🔥🔥
Time to get a Diverter Valve Spacer! I have a Audi A3 and i love how the Diverter Valve Spacer sounds !
Sounds a lot more throaty! super nice growl and intake sound.
I’d like to make some recommendations on mods, I have a FBO APR Stage 2 DSG 2019 GTI. Downpipe: Trackslug 4inch(catback doesn’t matter as much for power, some record holders where using stock catback). The r400 was the consensus of best performing intake but Uni is a good one as well. BFI mounts are expensive but they allow attachments that the stock mounts would’ve allowed. Dogbone mount is subjective but just make sure it changes both upper and lower dogbone mount. Rear sway bar does the most for handling (24-26mm is preferred for most straight line steering feel when taking hard turns). Apex 17inch wheels for most grip and still allowing the popular big brake kit clearance. Stop tech or Porsche macan calibers with stoptech rotors or just rotors and pad upgrade is the most common(I have the Porsche one because Porsche logo and it’s like 300$/caliber). Do88/IE/APR are probably the most run intercooler upgrade. Do88 if can afford it.
I'm loving this 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 keep it up bro
Just bought a black skull shirt. Def gonna wear those to local meets to rep carma speed. Design looks so sick.
Thanks for this video! I've been looking into getting a Unitronic intake for my mk7! :D
So glad you got a GTI. Keep up the great vids
I've got an Arma Carbon fibre induction kit for my 1.4tsi golf. Sounds so good. Quite similar to your induction kit although different location
i have a mk7 golf 1.8t wolfsburg manual and the spool sound and blow off with an apr charge pipe, ecs intake with luft technik elbow and upgraded silicone tubing and the turbo muffler delete is crazy loud
Hey Cameron! I’m a former MK5 GTI DSG Owner and mine was APR Stage 2+ (285hp and 321 lb-Ft of tq). I believe the MK7 GTI’s come with launch control so if you come to a stop, turn off traction control, put it in manual, left foot all the way down on the brake pedal and the right foot down on the gas pedal, it activates launch control (literally spin city lol) but I believe yours has it. It will hold your RPM’s I believe at like 3.5K. Have you given it a try? Also, love the content and keep it up🦾😎You’re an inspiration broski💨
What did you do with the secondary air system hose? Did you just let it hang under without a filter? Thanks
Tasty add-ons. Looks good, sounds good, performs... what rubber are you running?
Open air in takes make a lot more turbo noise but produce more heat. It’s not a blow off valve vw use diverter valves which I like better because it holds boost better through each shift vs a blow off valve. You can always upgrade your diverter valve when u go stage 2 which holds boost better. For example my diverter valve for my stage 2 the turbo will spike at 21 psi and hold 19 up until 6k
Love youre voice its so smooth
honestly just subbing bc i like vw and your videos are entertaining
Great video, now shouldn’t there be an O ring on the inlet pipe?
I don’t even have a gti, these videos are entertaining
Get the p3 gauge! it's so sleek, especially in the mk7s!
would y’all recommend the air duct and turbo inlet with a stock intake just with a k&n air filter?
Just picked up an intake and turbo inlet for my atlas cross sport never thought I'd do a full stage 1 on a mom SUV.....
I’m looking at getting a gti myself, and I was just wondering if I need a tune to add the intake or if it would be fine it I ran it without a tune?
I recommend getting the apr red top coilpacks it definitely dresses up your motor
You literally can’t see them
Just subbed.! Good stuff man 👍
It's good practice to block off the turbo inlet when working on it, you definitely don't want hardware falling in
Question. I have mrk 7 2015 dsg automatic.if i get this product, do i have to get a stage 1 before? And will it fit my car? I just put a borla exhaust 2 weeks ago.
What part of the Valley do you live? Think I recognize some of those neighborhoods. Also building my 7.5 GTI. Already had a 7R with full bolt ons - it was great but the GTI is more fun!
That airbox was some critters home. Hopefully they didn’t get to any wires.
so should i change the trash stock clutch first or can i get a downpipe with intake?
Got my first speed because of you and you're kinda making me wanna replace my ms6 with a gti now lol
Same here might have to swap out my speed3 for a mk7 w the dsg
Nice editing.
Where is the steering wheel of the car located on is it on the left or on the right hand side
I know only a GTI Golf 7 and I don't know the golf 7 se so I'm not sure if the steering wheel is located on the left-hand side or on the right hand I'm not sure if is video I'm not sure if it's the camera or is the car
I had to run a open down pipe for 2 months be4 I got the full turbo back. Not a good idea boost creep is real. You have any questions I have been in the vw gti game for a minute plz ask away
Changing the altinator in your sti would help
Where did the metal shift paddles go?
Can you do a stage 1 tune with just the intake without the air duct? Saves me like $200
Just wait until boost weather you will see a a big difference in throttle response. The summer time I call it a hot air intake lol especially in nc where I live at. I need to get meth injection which will keep intake temps down and your manifold temps also. I would have got a cat less down pipe first vs the cat back. A downpipe with your tune makes a big difference
How can I just get unless I have the injen cyborg for mk6
So... stage 1 gti or stock mustang gt?
Cool vid bro I’ve been watching you for a while I just don’t comment much on UA-cam
Looks like you forgot the o-ring seal on the elbow.
Remove the heat padding under the hood makes turbo more pronounced and easier to hear
I wish you made bmw content, but still love it either way
What year is this
I have a mk5 gti so u will probably at stage 2 spike a higher psi then my mk5
@11:13 stock intake sound
@11:31 aftermarket intake sound
who else is here watching the craziest gti build they've ever seen being built
there is so many crazier built gtis this is pretty basic build so far
Not even close bro.
MCM by far did one of the craziest gti builds on youtube. Built it into a supercar killer
A matching engine cover would finish it off nicely.
We want more Carbon
You shoul do a build on the evo x next please
Should*
5:52 . When you take that rope off where do you put it back
Rope? Lol, it’s a vacuum hose and it goes underneath the silicon pipe that connects the air box to the turbo compressor inlet pipe
Nice video can you try the EQT tune it’s so much better than unictronic
Agreed, unitronic and apr leave so much on the table just so they can be super safe. Custom tunes are way better for your car
EQT didnt sponsor him.
@@stijanjija2225 unitronic did😂
I'm not sure but I think the mechanic didn't remove the turbo inlet o-ring and install it on the new turbo inlet pipe. It was difficult to see, even when I paused the video. Hope that he did it. Peace
IMO….the ONLYcreason to replace any stock air box on a modern car is to open it up to the induction noises you get from an open cone filter. The closed unit you are installing defeats this noise. That’s it.
👍
stupid question but can i run this exact setup without a stage 1 tune?? i would think i could but i’d rather have a solid answer than my dumbass saying i could lol
Yea u can intake doesn't need a tune
yesssssir
@17.59 where is the MAF sensor on the MK7 gti?
It doesn't have one. It has a MAP sensor in the intake manifold.
Can i run a intake and turbo inlet with no tune on my 1.8t??
Yea you can I ran the IE intake with the Dbv inlet for a while b4 I turned with United Motorsport. If u go downpipe u will need a tune.
@@phillmqb7518 thx man!
Your next car should be another muscle car maybe like a gt350
Fiesta st next?
Need to drill a hole in the air inlet duct on the side in front of the air filter 😂 Also, this duct has large holes in the bottom instead of a one way drain valve of the stock air box… it sucks hot engine bay air from the bottom. Also, why carbon Fiber?? This intake costs more than the car lol It’s a disproportionate price tag for an intake 😢
So he’s sponsored by Unitronic.
No Dyno papers ?? Real test is not from a dig, it's in the dynamometer. So much for unitronix
intakes on this car don't really do anything besides sound until you're running big turbo. There's been tests with this intake and an aftermarket filter in the stock airbox has been able to flow more air.
This does look amazing but the general consensus is that aftermarket intakes make no power gains on this platform. The real reason to run one is the sound.
In arizona where its hot as ballas and heat soak is an issue, this intake actually helps
watch those mice they'll destroy your car.
11:14 thank me later :)
That's cat food not dog food. Probably a squirrel put that there.
You have to let your baby breath better with a down pipe
Drop your car
Unitronic, ewww.
What would you choose and why
Cobb AP custom tune by eqt or sneakytuned
@@stijanjija2225 does cobb do dsg tunes
@@stijanjija2225 United Motorsports my guy
Yes cobb does dsg.
Probably can hear more with a manual.
It’s way too early expensive even though it looks great, I spent $250 for the same thing
What you got?
