I'm working on a MR2 MK1 right now and I've watched your videos multiple times to figure out stuff. Thanks for all the great content and sad to see it being destroyed.
Right... just seen the end of the video! Maybe a bit hasty with my first comments on the white MR2!! Great to see a new plan with Neil Jones, great idea, can't wait to see what happens. H
Oh YES, its back!!! Just like the Six Million Dollar Man... You can rebuild him. You have the technology. You can make him better than he was. Better, stronger, faster!!! Well, lets see!! LOL. Good luck with the project. I'm pleased you've got a MR2 again, well, sort of... you can do it. H
Dame bro....I was getting sick to my stomach as you walked around the car! I restored an AW11 myself and I know how hard the parts are to come by. Sad! :( Cant wait to see the black one though!!!! :)
This is really sad to see I’ve just started my AW11 project, been sat for 23 years though surprisingly the rust seems limited, just bought it a new fuel tank for £25 on your advice
Nice one mate! Hope the project goes well. Any questions just ask on here. I treat the channel like a forum. New?! I’m assuming you mean good second hand??
Hi... If the main part of the chassis is healthy everything else can be changed! ... Much encouragement and support with the restoration and congratulations for all the videos that you always upload. Greetings from Viña del Mar, Chile. ✌☀️🍒
So sad to see it go but love to hear it’s heart is going to live on! We spoke a while back about a crank no start issue everything has been through new injectors and relays wires plugs spark fuel but still no start any pointers?
Looking forward to seeing the new mr2 resto. Just bought an mr2 mk1, collecting it tomorrow. No wings, or bumper, welding required on sills etc etc but looking forward to the challenge and learning new skills as I go along. Really enjoyed your last series and great support with me with my new project. Keep up the good work... Subscribed 👍👍
Also, hope the daughter isn't too put off. Crashing my 1985 Mini in 1993 was the best lesson I ever had... properly learned how to drive from that, finding out where I'd gone wrong and how to avoid in future! Watch me write mine off tomorrow...
Damn! 😢 As someone who watched the original series avidly with a view to restoring my own Mk1 seeing the fruit of all your hard work in such a state is indeed heart-breaking. As you say though, main thing is the driver was ok. Lesson to learn from this? Mk1s should be treated with respect or they will bite you in the ass!!! 😈 Look forward to seeing how the project to get the engine into the new one goes - on the bright side, an opportunity for more great MR2 content from your good self 😎👍 Best of luck!!
Thankyou 😎. Agreed, driven with respect especially considering most things are front engine and front wheel drive nowadays. Oh yes, the black car will be epic!
Hey James, I'm working on a mk2 MR2 thats been sitting for 10 years or so! It runs but I'm a bit concerned about the rust and corrosion in the sills, on the subframe and a small bit of bubbling around the windscreen, which needs to be replaced also. Cracked bushings and hoses, corroded brakes, same story as your mk1 before you restored it. My question is: Do you think its better to spot weld and fabricate panels and then paint the car or strip it down to a shell? In either case I wont be doing the bodywork myself. I've been getting conflicting advice. I don't want to break the bank but at the same time I want the finished product to look good, and be safe.
Hiya, it’s super tough to say without seeing the car but it sounds like a lot of work. It depends on how far you want to go with the car. The screen will have to come out to repair the frame properly and if the rust is anywhere near the subframe mounts then that might have to come out to repair in that area too. If your in to a full respray then the more you remove the better the finished result will be. Can you strip the car and reassemble afterwards to keep the labour cost down? The more you look, the more you find. Good luck 👍🏻
@@Resto.Nation Thanks very much for the repsonse, its given me a bit to think about. Im going to try and bring a few people in to give me a quote and I'll definitely do the dissassembly myself. Cheers from Ireland. 🇮🇪
I don't know if you remember my previous comments about the c pillar trim jajajaja but I'm seeing that now is missing. I told you, the most valuable piece of an aw11 and it's gone jajajaja. But doesn't matter, Neil has like 55 pairs

Neil Jones is the absolute man for this. An asset in the AW11 community

OUCH, what a shame, loved watching you get this wee car back to its former glory, ding ding round two?

What happens if you bridge it out on the diagnostic port? Do you get power on the wires in the centre console to the pump??

sad to see the car like that after all the work you put into it.
How exciting! If you restore the black one I would love to have the opportunity to buy it from you.
