On my travels I come across many interesting cars that their current owners have fallen out of love with.
I buy them, restore them, get them back on the road and give them a second chance at life.
I treat my channel like a forum, don't be afraid to head to the comments section...

If you want to have a go at doing the same on your car then you can get the plug from mini spares. #classicmini #resto_nation #restoration

If you think you will make money restoring cars for clients, think again. I will never, ever, do a car for a customer again. If you want to buy fix and flip don't count on banking a large income, those that tell you how much they make are mostly full of BS. But you can add some extra side income, and enjoy yourself at the same time, just don't give up your day job.
Totally agree. If you can enjoy your hobby and sometimes make a little extra along the way then all good.
Bro has 7 mr2 what!!!??
Superb video.
Question please: I changed the B series 1500 engine for an 1800 MGB engine, but now although it runs well at speed, it idles badly always. Might the original 1500 needles in the H4 cab be too small for the new engine as it needs more fuel on idle? The 1500 jet I had in there has HB on the side. Thanks
Have you swapped the 1500 carbs straight onto the 1800 engine without any adjustments?
@Resto.Nation I rechecked the balance and air/fuel ratio settings and they didn't require too much of a change. I didn't get a great deal of improvement to the idle unfortunately..
Nice...
So it will run if the chain is one tooth out ? My mgb idles really badly but drives OK at higher revs
Honda's have a cronic rust problem under the windshield in between the dash, however, you'll have to remove the windshield to see it. Best of luck!
Cheers, screen will come out at some point for paint so will Have a look then…
Hi, What is the make of your ramps. they look just what I have been looking for.
Equipment4garages they are in the uk.
I have the main rad hoses in silicone that you can have cheap - new
Sounds good. Drop me a price on instagram or Facebook…
Been looking forward to seeing more of this CRX just alot of tidying up really of surface rust and protection and some service bits such a tidy motor great find lads
Thanks. It was a lucky find for sure and very glad the welder can stay away!
This is the first time I've seen/heard someone reference the exhaust as a source of tuning information. I've done it for years and thought I was alone. Holding a hand at the end of the exhaust can give much information.
There is a guy on UA-cam that has just finished restoring one. RRC Restoration
Seen his work, very impressive!
What about getting it ice blasted? It would make it look mint!! I had 2 of these and i miss them, so when you have finished doing this CRX up drop me a message with a price to sell.
Very messy process unfortunately… Will do when it’s all done. I’ve got a friend that wants first refusal but if he’s out then I will be in touch.
I had a 16v on a G plate in the same colour back in '97 when i was 21, loved that car. Good luck with the resto.
Thanks 🤩
Mine is a 55 plate Corsa c and once i start it, the revs pick up but once you press the brake pedal, it drops back down to idle. I have changed the pedal and body, cleaned all earth points. I'm into the ECU and associated wiring now
What a cracking wee car 👍What brand is your ramp ? It's a handy ramp that .
I got them from Equipment4garages. They have been useful to be fair!
The phrase 'Fat Fives' refers to the EG Civic VTi 15" wheels - I remember these selling for £50 a set back in the 90s as no-one wanted OEM wheels, now they're silly money! Really looking forward to seeing this CRX being brought back to its best! 😎👍
Thanks, I’m looking forward to my first drive back on the road and bringing back a few memories from when I was younger…
What a little gem. Hope you can source a sunroof for it easily. I'd pull the windscreen looking at the stains along the top edge. Thanks for the videos, gonna be a good series this one =)
Cheers! I think you can get a fibreglass sunroof so that might be the way to go. The screen is bonded unfortunately so won’t be the easiest to remove…
What’s the parts availability like?
Quite a bit of aftermarket support so should be ok for most things. Will be interesting to see if honda still make bits too…
@@Resto.Nation That sounds positive. I’ve got a 1980’s Alfa and parts availability is usually a problem. Lovely CRX looking very tidy too. Good luck!
@ thanks ☺️. Fingers crossed it goes back on the road easily enough. Good luck with the Alfa!
What happened to the Healey?.
It sold a few years ago just as the Healey market was imploding.
I had an 87 crx. great car loveed it till I drove it off a cliff one night 😢
Was that the end of it?
@Resto.Nation hit the guard rail on a corner, l flew about 50 ft then rolled down the embankment. woke up with a bump on the head, a slight cut, and a sore leg from dislocating the steering column. car was total write off
@ ouch! Not cool. Shame about the car but at least your still here to tell the tale…
Can I install one in front and one in the back of the car? It's classic beetle
Don’t see the need. Why would you want to?
@@Resto.Nation Because of the dual master cylinder, the booster is designed for a single-line system. In the back, I have space behind the rear seats, but there isn't much space in the front. That’s why I prefer to install one system in the front for the front wheels and another in the back for the rear wheels
@ you can have a dual or split system with one master cylinder. I would suggest doing that.
By looking a the shift knob you can tell its been sitting for a long time.hit it with a clay bar it will get the grittyness out the paint before you polish.
Sweet, thanks for the tip.
I forgot to comment on the last video that it had a Fulda Tyre a German brand so could of been fitted when the previous, previous owner was stationed in Germany?
Great shout! Do you know if the date stamping for their tyres is the same as ours?
@ I'd say it is as we were all euro back then!
@ fair! I will have a goose when the cars up in the air for the next video
Hey i also bought 1.6si crx that has been sitting in a garage for 20 years. I guess we will be building it together
I saw an old OEM Toyota nudge bar tucked away in that garage.....
Get it useable if it needs welded get it done then get paintwork later once tyres breaks are sorted oil coolant timing belt waterpump really hoping use save this im on the hunt for a crx or a civic vti again would be my 3rd vti if buy another
Spot on plan, full check over, mechanicals, structural rust if any and then mot and then… paint
100% get the mechanicals spot on, use it next year then repaint it next winter :) Awesome project mate, I'd love one of these!
Cheers mate. Looking forward to learning to paint too. Will be nice to use it as it is. A ratty crx is cooler than no crx…
Anyone else cringe watching them tug at the rear spoiler as it was removed from the garage? LoL
Good job bro
Us=barn find, uk=Council garage 2x2m find
2x2.3… 😉
Im saying to you guys.. you should have looked on how to detail before you started... then im asking you WHY THE F you high pressure with nozzle was so damn close with no cleaning products on it.. you should not be so close with the nozzle at all. You can save that paint if you just watch on how to do it the proper way. The red 309Gti 8v from -92 i want 😍 Wish you good luck and do your home work.
Appreciate the feed back. So the shrunk colour under the lacquer can be saved?
The moment you had that big guy pumping that silly air pump to inflate 4 tires, I stopped seeing the video, SMH. Come on guys, it's 2024!
We work old school! That manual pumping keeps him alive!
Are we going to see a B12 engine… 😅
Not just yet Joshua ❤️
Its a driver not a show peice !
I've still got a makro card😊
Parcel shelf has not been cut out for speakers
Cool little car I’ve had 3 of them, the sunroof is a prime rust spot, hope you guys save this car, no them wheels are not the fat fives those wheel came on the 1993 Honda civic VTI only, and best of luck replacing the sunroof cause you’ll need it.
Thanks, I just need to hope that the rot doesn’t go into the roof itself too much… Aaah I see! What were fat 5’s fitted to?
@@Resto.Nation Fat fives sat on Eg9 and Eg6.
Check the tyres if your looking for a date
Great shout!
Looking forward to this! =) Thanks for the videos.
Cheers mate 😎
I used Tiger Seal. No more problems.❤
Really looking forward to this renovation project. Love crx motors.... classic lines.
Can’t beat them ❤️
I’ll take it off ya
Join the queue haha. I’m getting it back on the road and taking the old owner for a spin, that’s happening 100%!
Great work. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this. 👍
Thankyou oh wise influencer
Entertaining. Thanks, guys!
The laquer/ clearcoat was probably a cellulose or just a poor weathered 2k.. crazy paving effect..
I see! So if it was cellulose then that’s a 1 stage paint with no top coat? I know it will be painted in the long term hopefully ourselves but anything we can do in the short term to make it more presentable would be welcome advice…
@@Resto.Nation Silver basecoat, 1 stage clearcoat, the layers shrink, harden and micro crack over years and years..
@ I see. So is the only solution to take it all off and start again? Or could you get the top surface layer flat and give it a key and prime on top?
@@Resto.Nation anything with a defective laquer coat would need taking off completely down to at least the base coat but even down to the metal isnt a bad thing if it's been repainted a couple of times before.. yes a 2k primer too.
@ sweet, sounds like a fun thing to learn at home. Time to build a booth…
Nice video🙂The fuel gauges on these cars do not drop to empty when the ignition is turned off, so it was probably parked up with that amount of fuel in the tank.
Thanks! That might do the pump and tank some good if it was stored full… we will find out soon enough.
I’ve owned a crx for 6yrs before! Such a great and fun little car, it got so much attention every where I took it! Cheers from the USA 🇺🇸🍻
Are they expensive in the USA? Most things like MR2’s seem to be??
@@Resto.Nation Not really, just depends on condition and what’s done to the car! Here in Florida prices are very fair.
I think mine has got so bad its flooded the computer as the throttle no longer works over 1000rpm and electrics on the dash are going funky. Starts and drives fine so long as you're happy going 2mph everywhere. Thanks for the video, very helpful!
Beautiful EE8 CRX! Looking forward to your restoration videos. I had a Rio red Civic 1.6i-VT (EE9 chassis) and drove it from 2002 to 2017. What a car it was. Greets from Serbia!
