Hi can you answer please. If making and baking the pies at home what temp is correct to BAKE them at? NOT reheating but baking them? and with or without fan heat in oven? Thanking you so much.

Where can I purchase those type of pans? I’ve not seen them before in any bakery. Thank you.

To make 6 pies at home is a time consuming expensive exercise and it certainly pays to find a good pie store and let them do the job unless you want the fun of experimenting to eventually get it right , but it takes a lot of failures to find out what you are donging wrong and Mick here gave me a tip about overheating the temperature being too high , so next time Ill see if it makes a difference .

When we have wogs making pies, I say this nicely... LOOK OUT WORLD., and move over Pizza.. :) goodonya!! I love the fact that nearly every town in australia has a bakery that makes it's own pies. It is like buying a lottery ticket where you win 99 times out of 100. I took the family on an 8000km odyssey [we didnt backtrack at all]. Starting and ending in Cairns and every morning we would search out a bakery and 'check 'em out'. I would ask what is your best product, all bakers have a method or a favourite. We would start with that and add to it. At least 2 varieties of pies, a pastie and a sausage roll plus extras... Not my favourite state but I would have to rate South Australia most points on local bakers ratings... Cheers

Meat pie is found in the Neolithic Period, around 9500 BC. The ancient Egyptians' diet featured basic pies made from oat, wheat, rye, and barley, and filled with honey and baked over hot coals.[2]
The Greeks used a flour-water paste resembling pie pastry, and filled it with meat.[3] These pies were usually fried or cooked under coals. The Romans adopted them, using a variety of meats, oysters, mussels, lampreys, and fish as filling and a mixture of flour, oil, and water for the crust.

Awful pies in Australia go to London and get the real thing: pie mash and liquor. Australia was used as a criminal deterrent for a reason.
