I'm having surgery tomorrow morning and guess what...........my wife is cooking TWO of Marion's recipes, as I couldn't decide which one was the best ! We will try this yummy looking one when I come home. Cheers to the best Marion. It looks like I have found the kind and thoughtful side of UA-cam and all these great comments, thanks a million to everyone ! Marion’s viewers sure are the best 😎 Surgery went well thanks as well. Cheers everyone.
tip for not getting your pastry soggy or any crust in that case (in case your filling is a bit too runny), just brush all over some egg whites before putting the filling in
There’s some about Marion’s smile and laugher that’s very infectious. I’m was having a rough day and heard the laugher, saw the smile and was equally happy. Thank you for that.
Marion, you’ve given me such inspiration to cook and proven to me that cooking can be so much fun! I love your recipes. Thanks for giving me more sense of purpose 👩🏼🍳❤️
These are sooooo good. Great tip about the pastry. The pies are too addictive!!! All your recipes are fail safe and so tasty. You are my number 1 channel for Asian food without a doubt.
This is great, I recently bought a pie maker just so I can make a small batch of pies, 4 at a time probably, though I am yet to use it. You really can’t beat a quality pie, Yum
I made your chicken, miso, soy pie the other day and it was AMAZING!!! Its going in my special recipe book! I made a slight few changes where I used pie pastry for the bottom, but added puff pastry on top. I also mixed wheat flour and corn flour to thicken the gravy in a lighter way than only wheat flour. And lastly I made one big pie, rather than many small ones. When I ate it I added dollops of chilli paste on top, because in my world you cannot have too much chilies Haha I'll make this pie next! Thanks for the recipes!
So many great tips here: brisket, 2 different crusts (though short crust can be homemade easily), spices (love lamb with cinnamon - beef, too!), soy sauce and tomato paste (maybe miso as an alternative)...Cracker of a recipe. I know it’s better than the pie bought around the corner. Great job!
Hey I totally get it that it's rough to be far from home, but I'm kind of in the same situation I'm on Cape Cod Massachusetts USA which is a beautiful place and I kind of feel stuck here but I would love to be stuck in the Netherlands. sometime... hope you're doing okay
As an English guy, my favourites have to be the traditional steak and kidney, chicken and mushroom, meat and potato pie. I'm also partial to a curry beef or chicken pie too. Loving the ones that you are making too, Marion.
Two pies that "knocked my socks off", Peter. Warm pork pie in Leeds market, and chicken balti pies in Morrissons. Both gone now, 5 years ago. I'm still depressed.
I have learned so much from you Marion and one of the best is ensuring all meat is caramelized no matter what I'm making and these pies are incredible! So what's new right?😊😍🙏🌹
Ms Marion, thank you for being generous with your cooking videos! Is it okay if I pressure cook the beef with the sauce? In meat pie recipe. Please show or explain how you make beef stock.
Absolutely wonderful! Now I can make it for my family! My husband is going to be over the moon as I haven’t made this before. Yesterday we had Marion’s laksa and my youngest daughter makes Marion’s most wonderful udon noodles! 😋
Making the pies tomorrow morning, but I can say that the beef n Gravy tastes out of this world. Soo yummy. Can't wait to wrap it in both pastries and munch down. 😋
Respect for filming the imperfect pie with the loose top even if it made the shot less “perfect”. I’ll definitely be coming back to more of your videos
Love watching you Marion you explain very clearly it’s very refreshing & ofcourse your Delish recipes I’m going to make these yummy pies 🥧 Thank you Gorgeous 💕
There is an Australia wide pie competition mostly for commercial bakers, I think it’s called the Great Pie competition, it’s for pies, sausage rolls and pasties. For the last two years it’s been a Thai green curry pie that won by the same Baker in Victoria, that won with his pie. I really want to visit his bakery but it’s a bit far away. Btw, it was a gluten free pasty that won in the pasty category most recently and it wasn’t even in the gluten-free category it was so good.
Not into thai green Curry but to taste a gluten free pie pastry that tastes as good or better than regular pie pastry...that’s the dream for people who are gluten free! 🤤 Thanks for sharing.
Kyneton Bakehouse Victoria wins at least 3 or 4 awards every year. Even won with their scallop pie. 1 hrs drive from Melbourne if you wondering where it is!
Contents look as though would taste splendid. However you have to make your own pasty. Sheets of purchased pastry are a second best. Pie looks wonderful though. Thank you. Paul (UK)
The quality of the pastry makes a HUGE difference too, for me it’s kind of half the experience. Recently my favourite pie is a butter chicken curry pie, or the simple steak and mushroom.
Wow. I was thinking the same thing. I already have butter chicken cooked so this confirms my ideas. Thank you:) I bet it will be good for hearty bfast as well...
@@doggy1740 There are lot of recipes for butter chicken. You can use any that is easier for you. I often refer to this one below: ua-cam.com/video/M-j7G7Ebb2A/v-deo.html
Great video, it's refreshing to see a UA-cam recipe where the chef understands the fundamentals of cooking and layering flavor! Glad I found your channel :)
Pastry in Australia comes from the freezer, pre rolled in packs of 4-8 sheets depending on the type of pastry it is. I sympathise with you, also living in the USA, I miss the convenience of Aussie pastry, American pastry does not compare.
I just bought a £10 set of stainless nesting ring cutters from amazon to cut pastry for our pies fruit/meat as the kids love pies and CBA to waste time trimming and patching pastry. We use nonstick pie tins but for I still grease the moulds, butter for sweet pies and lard/beef fat for meat pies I find I get a better base crust by doing so. Vegetable oil also works if you are a vegetarian.
Delicious great recipe Marion absolutely have to have tomato sauce with a meat pie I love pies I’ve never attempted them before but I will now the filling looks beautiful yummo can’t wait to cook them. Thanks Marion. 😊💕
I'm English and so obviously I love a meat pie. This said, and admitting this may get me hanged as a traitor, Australian meat pies are better than anything I've had in England.
Love this recipe! I like to brown the beef without corn starch and instead toss them in wheat flour before adding back to the stew; it makes the stew more smooth in the end!
I think Worcestershire sauce captures the complexity of flavour of the spices & umami (tomato paste and soy sauce), in case other people weren't brave enough to try that combo like me!
A simple and incredibly-easy-to-make hot water pastry is ideal for this. Your meat filling looks and sounds absolutely wondrous -- I'm going to make it later this week (I'm going to make some hot water pastry and keep it ready in the fridge). Can hardly wait.
Looks totally yum (like everything else on this channel!) so much so that I'm tempted to give them a go, but I would have to get some pie dishes that are just the right size... You really nailed the thickness of the filling. Whenever I make a meat pie the filling always oozes out all over the plate when you cut a slice.
Absolutely Fabulous! I was going to make some chicken pot pies this week, your tip with the pastry is just what I needed and just using the egg yolk for the "wash". Thank-you just doesn't feel like enough. Hope you and your family are doing well❤️
I don’t know if it’s still the case but we used to call it red sauce in Yorkshire when I was growing up in the 70s. The other was brown sauce (HP, Daddies etc). Great video.
This looks so delicious and thank you for the recipe! Would it be possible to use Instant pot to speed up the cooking process instead of simmering for 2 hours and what setting would you recommend? Thanks!
When you eat a four n twenty the sauce does come out and it's yummy. I like a bit more saucy pie, this is a bit thick looking but I'm sure they are delightful to eat!
Besides the awesome recipe, the structural integrity and to go parts are wise advice. pies are truly part of many australian's day to day and basically a breakfast food. pie in one hand, espresso in the other on your way to work. Carbs, Protein, Caffeine - lets go!

Good luck for your surgery. Stay safe🤗🤗
Good luck with your surgery! 🍀
Get well soon
Glad the surgery went well. Which 2 recipes did you go for?
tip for not getting your pastry soggy or any crust in that case (in case your filling is a bit too runny), just brush all over some egg whites before putting the filling in
Ty will def try that in the future
Genius! Thanks for the tip.
Thanks, will a whole beaten egg work?
What a brilliant idea! Thank you.
Oh goodness. This worked with my minced meat pies. Puff pastry bottom and top. Super chuffed! Thank you.
There’s some about Marion’s smile and laugher that’s very infectious. I’m was having a rough day and heard the laugher, saw the smile and was equally happy. Thank you for that.
How sweet ❤️
“It beefs up the beefiness” music to my ears 😍
Right up there with “Porky goodness” 😂🤤
Made these for my wife and she was blown away with the incredible flavor. Awesome recipe!
Marion, you’ve given me such inspiration to cook and proven to me that cooking can be so much fun! I love your recipes. Thanks for giving me more sense of purpose 👩🏼🍳❤️
Marion trying to speak with her mouth full as she enjoys the meal she just cooked really sparks joy
LOL. I can never help talking with my mouth full!
@@Marionskitchen well you are technically an animal. Lipstick on a pig, or something like that? 👍 yuck 🤮

I love it, the Australian way shortcrust and puff on top pmsl, You mean the British way....
She’s a good cook and teacher. Thanks for the recipe.

Didn't have star anise so I used fennel seeds, didn't have any kechap Manis left so I used dark mushroom soy with 2 tbsp brown sugar 😍😍😍 delicious
I have learned so much from you Marion and one of the best is ensuring all meat is caramelized no matter what I'm making and these pies are incredible! So what's new right?😊😍🙏🌹

I love how Marion gets right into it. No long or wordy intro needed. 🙏🏽 TY. I love your recipes and this one is now on my list to make!! Yummy!!❤
I will forever add star anise, miso paste, and soy sauce to ANY beef dish. Thank you Marion for the fantastic tip!
I love how you talk about your cooking. I love your recipes Marion I even like your sauces. Thanks for sharing🙏🏻👏👏
best way to start off a monday morning 😋

Yes, definitely a winner.

Best meat pie I've ever had! I didn't add the soy sauce and used gravy beef. Still amazing. Thanks Marion
It was a mistake watching this ... after a 14 hour shift in a nursing home, i'm now absolutely STARVING!! Trying this for sure.
I hope you love it when you try it Steve. And wow, that's a long shift. But aged care work is so important and you're a hero for doing it!
Just love your cheerful cooking shows
One of my most abiding memories of Australia is the meat pies. They do them so well...
I made these meat pies this weekend. It was an all day project, but boy was it worth it. This recipe is definitely a keeper. Thanks Marion!
Yes, umami has become a bit of a drinking game, that and “so good!” Keep it coming! Amazing videos!
I love the way you do your pies, tried and people love my pies.

Marion there is really only one thing describes you when it comes to cooking... Your a goddess of the kitchen!!

Marion, this truly is the "BEST AUSSIE MEAT PIE" ever👌😋🙌😍👍😄💕!!!

Hi Marion... BIG FAN. Can you do an Aussie beef curry pie? I'm back in the UK and miss the curry pie since being back from Oz... can't find them here

Just made some exactly to your recipe and everyone loved them, thank you.
It really looks yummy. I wanna try it.

Thank you Marion for sharing your culinary skills. Love your channel. This Aussie meat pie looks yummy. Will try it.♥️ from 🇦🇺.
I was in New Zealand for four months in 1994 and I lived on Georgie Pies. I loved those things.

One tip for eating pies, place one finger on the back end so as to prevent or slow down its splitting and losing its filling as you bite into it. 🥧
Making these for the footy today! The mixture was irresistible last night - I just poured some on my veggies for dinner 😂😎
My friends ! It looks so delicious. Your cooking skills are amazing. Thank you for the good food.🧡
Looks amazing! I’d have to leave the bbq sauce and cinnamon out though (each to his or her own!).
I too, would leave the cinnamon stick out
Iam sooooo going to try tbis recipe!!! I absolutely LOVEEEEEE pies! Only thing is i do not eat red meat, will try Turkey minced and see how it goes!
Your food always looks delicious!!! And makes my mouth water lol
