I am 42 and remember watching reruns of his show as a kid. The one thing I noticed watching many of these on youtube as an adult is he cooks with precision. You may think he is a simple Cajun style cook but I see a guy as skilled as the best chefs in the world then and now.
My Mother use to say she could smell whatever he was cooking. It warms my heart and brings back beautiful memories of days gone by, when I watch his videos.
I remember watching him every Saturday on PBS when I was a little girl. Lol 😂 I remember he always had a side of white rice somewhere on stand by. That was over 36 years ago I’m 46 now. So many memories ❤️❤️❤️
that was my Saturday on pbs watching this show then norm building stuff and bob ross paint things. woke up early to listen to Justion tell the stories i am 47 today. Lived in east Tx then. now in Tn still watched the show to the end thank you for keeping the show going.
Lord I miss these days...no razzle dazzle chefs just a good down home cookin'...this elder was the best in his field...these young ones have some catching up to do
Back when we only had 4 tv channels and of course no internet. Funny how the really great shows stood the test of time. His shows ran on the public channel in N MS, Ch 10 iirc, and I loved em. I'm going to make his venison piquante tomorrow.
Watched him as a young child in public access tried finding him for 5 years I was 4-5 at the time so glad I found him as an adult now I will learn and cook what he has shown
Great memories! My favorite cooking shows growing up were Justin Wilson and Martin Yan's Yan Can Cook. I remember when Justin said, red wine with beef and white wine with fish, NO. You drink the kind of wine that you like to drink. They both showed that cooking can be fun.
I'm ashamed to say i have just found out about Mr Wilson as i am not from the USA, he really was some character with his good old fashion fun, the world needs more folk like him i think.
Man I miss my Childhood and this was most definitely a part of my Saturday...I watched as much t.v. as I could up until my friends came climbing up my steps to get me to come outside...
I used to watch Justin every Sunday on public TV. I miss those days and I Thank You so much for bringing him back in your videos !! Thanks For Sharing ! !
My Mom and I would watch him in NY. The laughs were on with the way he phrases and that cajun logic is sublime. Two Words...Common sense. And the food ain't bad either.
I’m so thrilled these videos are posted - my Saturday morning hang overs were overcome by watching him and being inspired to cook up some great grub in New Orleans in 1999-2000.
I used to watch this with my Dad as a young kid , he sure loved watching Justin Wilson cook . This brings back so many good memories thanks for sharing them .
I am glad you have brought Justin Wilson to You Tube. That used to be my favorite TV show. I was saddened when Public Television removed the show from their line up. Thanks
he was such inspiration for me growing up. I never missed seeing him. at the tender age of 8, knowing how to cook like him, such an honor. Justin & Julia, can't beat that no where. thx so much for the posting
+Sdot X We grew up dirt poor. my friends always bragged about cable. I always looked forward to see him on PBS because we still had two channels on antennae lol . I still today watch and cook his great food.
Eric Watts listen... Pbs was everything to kids back then. You got so much out of the programming. We made due with what we had. Didn't steal, earned it all. People now a days don't no the meaning of life. I appreciate you sharing
I sure loved watching his cooking show years back...I bought most of his cookbooks even...Great to see this channel on UA-cam!! I will be watching every episode for sure👍👍👍😃😃😃
I'm gonna put this channel on auto play feeding to my flat screen and just let it run all day. I grew up with this on the ol school turn dial tv when I was knee high to my dad I garuontee!!
So I went to Penn State, having grown up in Jersey, back 99ish... Almost all my bros were either NJ/PA/NY guys, except one came up from outside New Orleans, LA .... ( he thought he'd avoid trouble by avoiding LSU and driving 1000mi to PSU... LOL...FAIL...anyway...) he dropped the "I gah-=ron-tea!" , with an accent, on us a few times before we were like ... WTF are you talking about ?? JUSTIN WILSON!!- What??? The famous chef!!! Who?? He couldn't believe we had no idea who he was - none of us - and we would wind up lying to him , Ohhhright uh, , that guy, .....right...yeah... the chef, did you say? Right ..... none of us, never had any idea who he was until watching these videos...at least now I know lool.
I had the pleasure of waiting on Mr Justin back in my waiter days, at patouts restaurant in Baton Rouge, and he Lafittes Landing in Donaldsonville Louisiana And he always joked with me. When he saw me an Lafittes Landing he recognized me and asked if I could wait on him. He asked me if i remembered what he had ordered at "the other place" where i had waited on him before, and i answered " A nice ribeye and just knock the horns off of it" lol
@@cheddar2648 Thanks for the compliment! Im actually a big History buff but in general I may have been born in the early 90's but I am not into the modern cooking shows we see today on television.
Cooking with Justin now here in 2019.Pasta Aundolie sausage with white Alfredo sauce!!!! AIEEE I GUARANTEE!!!!❤️Love that you have these videos.Thank you!!!!😃👍
That story he told about notching the boat railing is an old Zen koan. Master Dogen wrote a capping phrase, “On the path it is rare indeed to meet with a pierced-eared travelled, much more common are those who notch the boat.” This being a reference to the original story in which a sailor drops his sword by mistake into the sea and cuts a notch in the boat rail to come back for it later.
It's good to see his show, and learn how to food this one did not grow with, got his cook and cook a few thing my deft , just wish the cooking station would bring back a few old cook show.
I was watching another video on frying up venison. One comment asked, "How much are they using?" The reply was: they are from Louisiana, they are eyeballing it. haha
Warning: Justin has some spices that today are hard to get. Today you might have to use the internet. Personally I don't like to use the internet in order to make food. I envy the day where you had to go to Louisiana without mail ordering it. The best part of Justin Wilsons food is 1. the food 2. the Music 3. anyone you tricked to drive them down to Louisiana for some good food and they paid for all the gasoline. 4. Mr. Wilson is a comedian first then he learned how to cook. End of Warning.

Miss you, Justin. I'm 64 years old, and I watched your TV show all the time. You were a true chef.
My mom would never think about cooking with wine or alcohol until....Justin Wilson came on our TV,the rest is history.

I miss Justin Wilson. I'm saddened to know that he passed away. I remember watching him on PBS channel 12 every Saturday afternoon back in the 80's.

I'm in Canada, I first seen Justin Wilson in 2007 on RFDTV dish network, and have been a fan ever since.
@Hotrod, nothing to be ashamed of, how could you have known any sooner?! Hope you enjoy him now that you have found him!! 😍
Welcome to our family
Man I miss my Childhood and this was most definitely a part of my Saturday...I watched as much t.v. as I could up until my friends came climbing up my steps to get me to come outside...
Have your own children. The only thing better than your childhood is making babies and watching them grow.
R.I.P. sir you are definitely missed. We won't see the like of you again you were the best.
Anyone who doesn't cook,watch and learn.Learn from a master,I guarantee.
Love to see gin . My son was 9 years old and never missed a show. Because of these shows he wanted to be a chef. Today he's a very good cook

YES, back in the 1970s on T.V. miss that today. Thanks for sharing the video.

Spent a glorious 15 years in N'awlis..used to watch him and the "Breakfast from Brennans". Man I miss those. Thank YOU!!
Original Reality TV!! How far we have fallen.
Crazy how he was using canned mushrooms back then. Not too sure that button mushrooms were readily available just anywhere in the US at that time.
He had a friend that was a mushroom grower
Good wholesome programming......not much like this anymore........those were the good old days !
His grandson works in Orange Park as a cook. Looks just like him!! Damn good cook too!!
where is orange park

Couldn't wait to watch him as a kid. Brings back memories.
"Ah..gah round tee" has entered my daily lexicon thanx to b the late Mr Wilson...
Justin, you're magical!!!
Love this guy. A shame the quality and quantity of sea food has declined. No Chinese crawfish ever!!

"Cooking bomb" she does something similar she uses her Chinese eyeballs. Justin uses his Cajun eyeballs
Hold yoself still~~ I was in a meeting and said "I can't stood that"!!!
I wish restaurants cooked like Justin
Awesome!
My husband and I used to watch him all the time.. only problem was when he wiped his 👃 and then went back to cooking..
He just added some flavor
Mushrooms and fish are rarely combined.
