Hey mate , I too live in a van , do exactly the same as you and try to move around and not piss people off , just an idea but if van people remember to keep the area clean and tidy and leave no bags of rubbish is a good tip to keep the public on side , respect costs nothing ;-)
Hi Simon I live in the Lake District and to be quite honest a lot of your counterparts are doing you no favours. They are leaving rubbish lighting fires tipping their toilets out in lay bays and car parking areas leaving places in a disgraceful mess. These mindless idiots are ruining it for us all and are sure to get harsh restrictions placed in some great park ups. Local residents myself included are sick of this and are being forced to push for tough restrictions on van lifers. I am a van person myself and I find this most annoying that our beautiful Lake district is being destroyed by these mindless scum bags.
@@robinbanks183 I agree totally and could talk for hours about this , have been a long distance lorry driver for 26 I have seen the exact same thing for where we park lorries , the massive rise of lorries in this country has caused the same problem , we are sometimes being forced to pay up to £40 per night just to stop for 9 hours . Hi mate, thanks for showing these videos, they are a big help and show that this lifestyle is totally possible in the UK and we don't all have to be tied down to rent/mortgages 👍
Thanks a lot for taking the trouble to film your searches for a park up, I find it really helpful and seeing you do it gives me extra confidence that I'll be able to do the same when my time comes. I find your vids really helpful and you come across as a really decent guy. The safefill gas bottle is a brilliant shout, I didn't even know they existed, and also those extra taps in petrol stations. One thing that I wanted to ask you (and anyone else) about is whether you would consider a van conversion, so that you wouldn't be quite so obvious. I still haven't fully decided whether to get a van conversion rather than coachbuilt. I don't need a full-on stealth van as such, but a big coachbuilt seems to me like a bit of a magnet for the wrong kind of attention. Eg a pair of passing drunks might think it funny to knock on your window at 2am and spoil your nights sleep, whereas a van conversion wouldnt really come on their radar. I have a theory that because you sleep during the day on most weekdays, you miss out on a lot of the late night mischief makers and drunks, but thats just a guess of course. You've been fine and it suits your current needs, but my personal preference might be to sacrifice some living space to gain more anonymity and less attention.

If a person, you in this case, or me in a future time, lives in a vehicle,( motorhome, van), and not a building (house), then that person does not have an address. So how does the DVLA have you registered if there isnt an address? What prompted me to ask was that I saw you pass by a Speed Camera sign, and I thought if you were speeding where would they send the fine to? there's no address!! It was quite funny once on a 'Carolyn's RV life' video, she had to sign in at a public building and she put name as 'Carolyn' and her address as 'Everywhere'. Seriously tho, how can you register your vehicle if you don't live at an address? Alan, UK.
So everything is level inside the motorhome and the water runs to the plughole instead of gathering in the corner. Water heater and fridge need to be level for the gas flame to work efficiently.

. I'm going to look into it wouldn't mind them on mine.
Hi I have them at the rear on my morphine they were rotten when I tried them out so had them replaced with caravan legs which you can buy of eBay need height from under the van to the rd I got mine welded on to chassis but i Think you can get bolt on ones for through the floor other option you could use axle stands all the best
The ones I see where operated from inside.. Push a button and up you go. Possibly electric and hydraulic Jack's/ Rams... Could make a lot more hilly roads more usable...
You must use a fair amount of fuel looking for stop overs !!!!
hiya matey great vids and uk based too, what more could one ask for.question, what is the law regarding having a few beers whilst parkeed?
kind regards
They can do you for drunk in charge, Never have the keys on you, hide them away from van, if they tell you to move on you can't. Its a real grey area
@@Superfandangoo no it's not a grey area, i used to tour with football crew on the piss, in my camper, even stayed on nightclub car parks, never had trouble with police, i checked with a Sargeant in a nick, and he said as long as keys arnt in ignition, and as long as your in the leasure part of the van, behind curtain or whatever, you could Google the question.

I'm sorry - but that background music was doing my hed right in!!!
Hi, do u ever park up in a campsite at all? X
I couldn't hear you over the music. ✌🐧
Alan, UK.
A friend or relative.

Love your videos. One question do you have to pay council tax?
Nope 👍🏻
Why do you need it to be flat surface ?
So everything is level inside the motorhome and the water runs to the plughole instead of gathering in the corner. Water heater and fridge need to be level for the gas flame to work efficiently.
