They are professionals, they have experienced every equipment failure possible. Because they play live, they don't lip-sync or air-guitar, and yet, nearly every concert version sounds essentially exactly the same. Very consistent.
It was because his Explorer fell out of tune suddenly. You can hear it once the main riff kicks in, the dissonance sticks out like a sore thumb.

James' guitar (or his transmitter more likely) stops working and he still doesn't miss a beat when he starts playing the new guitar. Insane talent.
It's not that hard to not miss a beat :P you need to have only a little feeling of rhythm
This is not how it happend or sounded. I know, cause I was there. They edited this to make it look and sound flawless, but in reality he missed his que because he broke a string, I think, which made him hesitate. Luckily the band just kept playing. He switched guitars when he started singing the first verse.
Oh that's what happened. I looked away for a min and turned back to see a 2nd guitar. I was like wtf?
You can clearly hear his channel stops playing, with only Kirk's guitar on the right side of the stereo. Don't know what you are talking about.
I wouldn't necessarily call it insane talent although Hetfield is obviously a very talented guitarist but as a fellow musician I know that after rehearsing and playing a certain song for so many years you learn to play the song like it's second nature. It's like learning how to ride a bike, you never forget it and you only get better with time and repetition.
Let's be honest, I think James drinking brought back his raw vocals. But it doesn't matter because we want to help him get through it all and be happier. He doesn't need the bottle. The fact that they are still touring brings joy to my heart.

@@zacsalmon5086 Kindly disagree. Joey rushed the tempo and missed sync with James, trying to fit way too many notes and Dave was stiff like a frozen up tractor. Both INCREDIBLE drummers, but lacked Metallica’s rhythmical sense of pocket and groove. There are tons of far better metal/rock drummers than Lars out there, but almost no one can replicate the original taste that Lars’s playing brings to the table.

@@panayiotis131 Got same opinion. No matter in this case how good is the drummer but how good songs sound with him. Lars's style is perfect for Metallica. I think good replacement would be Jon Dette.

What a bunch of GODS this band is, hitting 60 years of age, sound better then ever, they have enough money to just kick back and just do a few shows here and there but no to this day they all have families but they still choose to travel the world nearly all year round to keep their Metallica family happy....RESPECT..
This is one of the most beautiful stages ever in Metallica live history, that white floor elevates this performance to an art exhibition. I love this band so much.

I love Metallica, but they're playing instruments, not doing a triathlon. Considering the Stones are almost 8 in their 80s, playing a gig in your fifties isn't that tough.

2) they play for 2 hours every 2 days in a different city, and this is extremely tiring, especially If you are no longer 20 years old.

Getting to see metallica in concert was on my bucket list forever, finally i got to see them in 2017 and i expected it to be awesome but i had no clue the wide open train ride i was about to go on, it's in your face, fast, heavy, loud and precise and the energy level was unreal! just thinking about how much these guys helped me through bad times in my life as well as the good times!
