Kirk channeling his inner Jason made me smile.
HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY
Why channel it? He freaking rocks 🤘⚡️
Jason is an untamed beast at concerts, you can't blame him for that. The guy had great power in his voice
Kirks tribute to Jason, in his own baby voice. :)
Didn't see a hair twirl.
Give the sound engineer a raise. These live vids sound badass.
Yea except you can barely hear Kirk, 0:25
Yes. And thank Metallica that I never have to watch anyone's crap ass phone video of them
I'm not sure why I keep seeing this comment, the live sound engineer has nothing to do with the audio you are hearing. I'm pretty sure Fidelman still does their live mixes, he's the one you'll need to thank. In fairness this sounds a lot better than the previous gigs from this tour, the crowd noise is turned down considerably which is how I think it sounds best. Anyone know if Mick is still mixing their live? I heard he retired back in 2019.
It didn't sound like this live unfortunately, Kirk was really quiet and James's mic kept cutting out. Was still a great show though!
@@Ebastine I was in a Metallica show few years back and Kirk was turned on only during solos.. all the other time there was only james on the speakers
Was so happy to be there for my first Metallica concert
My congratulations, Metal bro 😁👏
Me too!!! Was immense!
Mo way my first time too, was absolutely killer
I saw Metallica last in 2009. Iron Maiden in 2003... Need to again. They are getting old now
it's been the best time to see the band in about 30 years this is best thing since Black album and probly even before black album maybe as far back as Ride.
That main riff is one of the best they ever did. Also, one of the first riffs I learned in 1988 as a 12 yr old. Favorite Metallica album.
Damn, must be so difficult for you to walk with these massive *balls* since 12 years old! Harvester is just *heckin heavy,* and Kirk played the solo well on this live!
This riff ?? 0:53
@@yobrethrenleper messiah is heavier 😅 imo cuz that's my fave
@@mikeortiz9664 hell, Metallica is yet to not make a banger actually, every track off their first albums is notable, Leper, TTTSNB, Outlaw Torn, Fight Fire, so much different music
It's in the name! *HEAVY* Metal!
Same🤘
Rob is a shining light here, his bass playing is so damn on point and his sound is thunder. Great hearing this classic with bass. Also…. How great is James sounding?
Should have Rob on night two as well. Bass was unreal live I could feel it in my chest
@@rhyswalsh4483 they had another bassist on night 2?
@@maxxg7 sorry my bad "should have SEEN Rob on night two" my bad man
@@maxxg7 xD AJFA had no bass so they made up by playing the songs live with 2 bass players
For real man Rob sounds so good. His stage presence is amazing too, he definitely has the most “energy” on stage now. He’s always head banging hard and moving, great for entertainment as a bassist should be.
How is it possible to listen to this song for a millionth time and still dig it as fuck?
Whenever Harvester gets played live. You know you're in for a good time.
Same with Orion I am in happy mode thier too. I know why I spended money on this.
Same with Orion I am in happy mode thier too. I know why I spended money on this.
I started listening to Metallica when I was 12yrs and still listen today and I'm 51 now and still love thier music ..Rock on many years to come .
Hell yeah. 51 here too. Been on the Metallica train since Justice🤘🏻
I started when I was 17…. now I am 56. I saw them in Hamburg im May
I love how everyone claims to be a fan since the No Life Till Leather demos now.
46yrs old and discovered Metallica when I was 12 when not long after Justice came out
51 next month, discovered Metallica at 16, Justice was first album I heard and is still my fave. Only seen them live once because Metallica tickets aren't cheap, but I guess being at the top of their game they can command those kinds of prices
metallica live never disappoints 🤘🤘
No, they don't! 🤟
Sex feels awesome. Just stating another obvious fact 😂🤘🏻
You should be put in jail for putting metallica and disappoint into one sentence
....like Rammstein never do
😀😀😀
They disappointed letting Kirk playing pentatonic nonsense instead of solid solos on the new album 🫡
3:36 holy fuck, that last YEAH was FUCKING DOPE
Papa Het is KILLING it🤘🔥
damn right. Also a dope one 5:00
I literally screamed. James is a BEAST. Metallica is killing it, absolutely killing it 👏🏾
INFANTICIDE was also pretty intense 🔥🔥🔥
Yep, Hetfield is really, really killing it with his voice these days.
JEAAAHHH! just like the old dsys
James Just aging like fine wine....absolute legend
What a performance. I'm completely blown away by the performances they've been putting on and by the new album they just launched, 40 years after the first...! Years, awards, and any other figures are just proof of fact. Their music and the impact they've had on fellow musicians and people's lives will forever make them legendary.🤘
What a great metal classic. Always gotta love the Justice Era!
Their best... then Ride, then Master. Loving this new Yellow Album through and the massive return of energy and crunchy, dark heaviness!
Apart from "master ' I agree
@@twotubefamily9323 Obviously Master is an 80s metal anthem but all of their hits from the 80s are metal classics like One, Creeping Death, Battery, Bellz, and all the others
Let the beatings begin
@@Fister_of_Muppets LMAO what a cool name (Master of Fist-Pets).
Heaviest riff they ever put on record . They sound amazing .
Kirk doing backing vocals and chants? This is sick!
He always does backup for Harvester; the only song he does though, I think.
It was! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
@@HomeHalfway He also does backing vocals for Frantic!
Yep you can hear Kirk doing the backing on the album version of Harvester too. His voice suits the "language of the mad" part well.
James sounds so great here! Top10 Metallica song in my book.
They sound great. James voice is the best I’ve heard from him. He’s really put work in on his singing.
Can I just say how pleasant of a place the comments section on Metallica videos (and tbh a lot of heavier rock/metal bands) are, compared to the feral hellhole that UA-cam comments are in general.
I just love how every comment is just (rightfully) pointing out how utterly incredible all these musicians are, and how much they're clearly enjoying themselves! In a world of so much shit, I feel privileged to be able watch such amazing performances for free.
"Harvester of Sorrow" in Moscow 1991 is my favorite.
AJFA is by far my favorite Metallica album
It's the apex of their brutality and the riffs are absolutely god tier
I was there.. 20 years since I last saw them...God I love Metallica
I was there too, it was awesome!
The bass is just thunderous in this, I love it! Great performance and an awesome show!
Imagine me seeing Metallica in 1997 and 98 with Jason playing this. Not even close. All love for Rob, more than capable but chemistry is real and Jason playing with a pick and his absolutely thunderous back up vocals can’t be replaced. Same as Cliff songwriting and virtuosity can’t
Saw this live. It was incredible. Great performance
They just seem to keep getting better and better with age. Long live the Tallica
The heaviest live Metallica song to me. It's like a hammer.
Yep, the Seattle 89 and Moscow 91 performances of Harvester are brutally heavy. This performance is good too but those are off the charts heavy.
4:03 that weird guitar lead has a really interesting modal feel! i like it. more of that please.
That dramatic pause gets me every time. Favorite song from my favorite band. Heavy AF.
Still the best live band around.
Greatest band that has ever lived
For 40 years More!!!!🤟🤠🍺
Greatest of All Time
Wish these guys all the best, good health and hope they'll do this for at least one more decade. Especially JH, such an inspiration and his lyrics got me through thick and thin all these years. 🤘
My first ever Metallica show! My life was complete at that very moment. They sounded really tight. What a legendary bunch of dudes.
I have been seeing Metallica for 37 years. Seeing them with my daughter at Download was amazing. I was pregnant with her when I saw them at Earls Court gig in 1997. I have been a Metallifan for 37 years
I really like the way it sounds, James roar like a lion, or growl, it's wonderful, yeah yeah!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🔥🔥🔥
I want to say thanks to the band for such high quality free music videos.
Man, this song seems that has special place in James heart, he react the same when he played it back in the day. At Moscow 1991. Same action on stage, same body language. and it’s spontaneous.
normally bands have fallen apart before the time metallica are at, in their 50s and 60s and still going strong!
One of the best non-thrash songs by Metallica. I love that album. Good to hear it again in 2023.
cant help my self but lars drumming is fenomenal...
Oh man....this stage setup is so much more engaging than the "in the round". Love it!
James looks and sounds great. Good for him man.
One of my favorites... 🤘🏼
They are not musicians, they are magicians
MONSTER OF A SONG.
they have given him the respect that bass deserves
This is Top Heavy Metal Group EVER!!!!
Well done! One of my favorite Metallica songs of all time!!
I love how Metallica are overall so good it's not that they grew old and they can still do it. They have a new sound like they evolved. Just amazing
What about Lars?
Their wireless setup makes for a really clean stage area. It's remarkable. The roadies and sound people are top of the food chain.
Metallica power !
They will live forever !!!
For ever and ever !!!
4:53 Having the crowd sing Woohoo! in the breakdown of Harvester of Sorrow. Simply Spectacular!
Also his vocals right after the pause??? That shit was sick he hasn't sounded like that since the early 90s
It was like hearing Freddie Mercury. Badass
I loved that bit! Everyone was a bit confused including me, I think he got a kick out of it.
That upward sliding scale up to a scream James did was out of this world. I am a vocalist and that is very difficult to pull off, especially live like this.
what scream? when exactly did he do it?
@@jkrowlingify3:44
James was FEELIN it!
I'm getting ready to see them in LA in August. Will be there with my 14 years old son!. The same age that I had when listening to Metallica's Kill'Em All record in Chile!.
I hope you both have a great time. A true Metallica Family, father and son!
They could thrash with the best of them, they could slow things down and make it more brutal, the dynamics and hooks in their songwriting have always been on another level. This song is just a masterpiece.
No one other metal band can draw a crowd like Metallica
Papa Het is just crushing it, my god !
🤘🎸🤘
Tone is AMAZING and all four of you are on fuckin FIRE!! 🔥 I love it SO much!!
Kirk’s microphone is working!!!!😳😱🤯
It’s amazing how they can make songs like this sound fresh and not overplayed. Always creating some new dynamic in the music.
Amazing performance here I think. Go boys !!!!!! Luv you!!!!! From Buena Park CA USA
All this hateful talk from "fans", but here they are performing and delivering on every day of this tour. Outstanding.
Seriously. F all the haters. Oh my god, it's not like the album! Lars slowed down and sped up, let's all get out our metronomes and judge him! Kirks solo isn't the best! Waaah!waaah! Whiny bullsh*t🤦♂️
@@revwillyg6450 think people forget that they're human like the rest of us, and not robots. People who want to hear the music exactly as it is on the recording should STFU, stay at home and listen to their vinyl/cassette or download and the rest of us will enjoy these badass performances. The Met boys are looking and sounding the best they have for years. Love them and I'm so happy I was at Download this year and got to see them twice. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
For real. I can’t wait to see them live on this tour if I can. They’ve been my favorite band since like 2009-10 when my dad showed me the song “one” when I was like 10 years old. I hate how much crap this band takes from people, I’m excited to see em
These live videos have me absolutely PUMPED to see them in August. Metallica was the band that drew me into music and I've yet to see them. Driving to Montreal from NC for them
Rob is so pumped, almost like dancing :)))
August will be my 11th time to see the mighty Met since 1986..Still got the same anticipation as the teen in 86 in 2023
Have a fantastic time. This Download weekend was my 4th and 5th times seeing them live. Previously saw them in 93, 99 and 2006. These Download performances were awesome, the best they've looked and sounded in years . Both myself and my inner teenager loved it!🤘🤘🤘🤘
Just saw them in Montreal. They opened with Creeping Death into Harvester. Harvester was the highlight of the show. It sounded huge.
Metallica for life! 🤘🇲🇨
Kocham 👌🔥❤️
4:59 what the fuck I haven't heard his vocals sound like that since the early 90s 💀
I think he forgot for a second how much damage he can do to his vocal chords which is why he doesn’t do that anymore so when he does do it it’s really powerful
@@heavymetalfatguy5398 to be fair his main issue with singing like that back then was alcohol abuse (alcohol can inflame your throat and irritate it, which shouldn't be left untreated), and excessive touring.
absolutely love that metallica is still playing and touring. But man, that 91 performance of this song in moscow was something else, the sheer presence and power. James voice was incredible and man do i miss Jason.
The structure of the show is perfect.
best album they ever done, come out when I was 16 or 17 still my fav today
I was there and still can't get over it!!! What a night!!!!
I LOVE how Metallica still sells out every show! They still fill stadiums and literal fields of people, theres so many arms in the air, its awesome to behold after 42 years! Metallica will ALWAYS be the greatest Metal band to ever be. I hope they go for at least another 10 years!
Wouw the solo is so amazing
i like the extended solo!!!
5:00 that scream still kills it in 2023
That fill at 4:16 ish.. .with the double bass burst underneath was naaaaaaaaasty Lars!
This song is the one that blew me away!
Fuckin killer. Why Metallica is the biggest & best heavy metal band of all time. 🤘🏻
James' voice is getting better every year. its bananas
Really dig the minimalist stage. More of the band, less distraction. Very smart.
Terrific performance on this song live
Just the best!! ❤
GREAT!!!!. ONE OF THEIR BEST SONGS.
I'm absolutely stunned by the tendency of Harvester of Sorrow becoming better and better with time❤
I don't see it ever being better than the 1st 5-6 years it existed simply for Newsteds vocals
My favorite band all-time rip cliff
damn so amazing to see metallica this age. im 30 and started listening metallica like 20+ years ago. when im still in 3rd grade primary school
One of my most favorite songs ever. Probably top 5. Love it live!!!!!
So sureal thinking I was here. Seen Metallica a couple of times but the double set was so special getting to see songs like this as a younger fan is truly amazing.
So grateful for the experience, THANKYOU METALLICA
My greatest band of all time. I can only hope that their current tour can include a date for the hicks in Ottawa, Ontario
The lights during that time of the day is perfect!
Saw Metallic back in 98 at young ripe age of 15. Been rockin ever since🤘🏼
I hope you get to see them again sometime. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Man, they are sounding really tight this tour. James sounds better than he has since probably the black album tour.
i agree
4:58 without a doubt
He sounds great but he was on fire at S and M original.
cuz they are professionally mixing their songs now
@n4dnerb he sounds better than most dvd releases post black album tour
Wow they are sounding great. Jesus!!!!!!
This never gets old!
What an energy!
Amazing how they still perform on this level.
Especially James is another world. Please stay strong brother! I'll never forget our shake hands 17 years ago. We'll meet again!
I live 5 mins away and it was an awesome experience to hear not only the music but the crowd holy was so loud forever have my heart Metallica
I was there and it was incredible. I'm glad you enjoyed it too, as I know some people weren't happy hearing Metallica in their back gardens! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I still have my 1991 (?) ticket stub from the first black album tour: “An Evening with Metallica. No Opening Act”. Finer words have rarely been spoken.
MOP is just a piece of time that marks the best years of my life....this track is soooooo tough.
Was there watching it live , gives me goosebumps watching it back 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
